My review is based on Crate and Barrel customer service. It is non-existent. I have spend 3 days on hold via phone and chat with no resolution. I am simply trying to get information on how to order replacement cushions for my Barrett sofa purchased in February 2023. I cannot locate the replacement cushion on the website, so tried contacting customer service and the Old Orchard Store where I purchased the sofa. I left my name and number with an associate who was to pass it on the a manager, but I've never received a call back. It is very frustrating. I've decided not to purchase furntiure from Crate and Barrel again because customer service after the sell is just as important to me as during the sale. read more

Was there this past weekend. The employees seem stuck up, catty, and only interested in making a sale not the customer.

Quality issues with furniture (2 purchases of 2 chairs both returned for bad construction/quality). There also seems to store personnel issues with understanding and execution of simple transactions with returns and replacements. I got the run around from both the store manager and the salesperson and it was exhausting. Customer service now involved so hoping I can get some sort of resolve as I'm out $3k and have no viable chair. I am not a satisfied customer and cannot recommend purchasing furniture from Crate and Barrel Deerpark IL. read more

I went to Crate & Barrel because my husband and I got a gift card there for our wedding. I didn't really need anything but didn't want to have an extra gift card to lose. This particular location was under construction but was still decorated nicely. I could find things easily enough and was asked several times if I needed help finding anything. I ended up getting some nice smelling hand and dish soaps. Crate & Barrel is a nice store for high-end housewares. read more

Walked in with an online return to the store. We explained the situation and provided the tracking and order numbers. We were informed that we wouldn't be reimbursed for shipping if we chose to return it. When we were asked when we purchased we stayed August and they said "Well there's nothing we can do for you here since it's 30 days past the purchase date. We were informed to call customer service, which we promptly did. We explained to customer service the exact same situation and they called the store on our behalf. Turns out the store should have taken it back. The information was relayed to us from the online CSR as what the manager said. In the past, I have walked in with online returns that we're gifts 90 or more days and never had a problem. In short this location gets a 1. Crabby, rude and judgmental employees. We've lived in the area for years and have had this experience every time. There is judgement based on outfit, what you are buying, etc. - Not from everyone, but most. There are a few very nice ladies. Its unfortunate that most are the opposite. The second you mention any "bigger" purchase ALL the ears perk up and customer service gets a whole lot friendlier. It is frustrating to have no help to be found or kind service unless you are thinking of buying something of "value" to them and I don't appreciate that. Especially working with Vivian. Apologies are not in her vocabulary and her ability to manipulate a situation to blame "miscommunication" when its internal disorganization is upsetting. As the buying customer - you are made to feel at fault when you are following the TEAMs instructions. I am thankful I had a text voicemail to prove this. Not only did my husband and I have to DRIVE back and forth b/c we were given the wrong items (not once did the team cough up an apology for the inconvenience), but the following day the team had to drive to our house to flip another item because they realized they gave us the wrong item. I said "we will not be dropping off another item on this order" and thats why they had to come to our house to pick it up. Again, Vivian did not offer an apology or anything for the inconvenience and disorganization. A simple apology would have gone a long way. During my Christmas gift shopping spree, I decided to walk towards Crate & Barrel to look for some kitchenware for my mother. As soon as I walked in, my sister and I noticed staff members oddly following us and pestering us with questions if we needed help. We remained professional and kindly responded that we were "looking around". Every time I looked up or glanced towards another direction, I can see these old-hags darting me with their laser eyes. They made it seem like I didn't belong there and made it very uncomfortable for me to purchase anything since I was getting a discriminatory vibes from these individuals. Perhaps it was my outfit, maybe I wasn't in a tailored suit or something. Anyways, definitely a weird place and will not come back to this location at all. read more

I was in the store to purchase a gift for a wedding. I am not sure if it was the way I was dressed (t-shirt and leggings) or what, but I felt looked down upon in the store. I also felt that the person helping me had the opinion that I didn't know anything about weddings and how to officially attend them. I feel that this store caters to a certain clientele and I didn't hit the mark yesterday. Oh well. I don't plan on returning anyways unless I have absolutely no choice but to do so. read more

Crate and Barrel is the most disrespectful establishment i've ever been to. My friend and I (age 15) walked into Crate and Barrel with the intent of browsing the store. We weren't looking at anything specific, but we still wanted to look around. Suddenly, a worker quickly walked over to us, her quick footsteps following ours. Seven steps into the building she asks us, "What are you looking for today?" I was confused, did she really expect 15 year olds to know what they want from a home goods store? Did she really expect us to ask her for her top line of spatulas? I rambled, not knowing what to say. "I don't know.. furniture?" The lady was quick to make a passive aggressive comment, "Are you really shopping for furniture?" I stuttered still not knowing how to reply. Was she really accusing me of this right now? "No," I responded, not knowing the correct answer I should give to her idiotic question. The lady made another snarky comment, this time getting on my last nerve. "Okay, you didn't have to lie about it." She gave me one of the fakest smiles I have ever been given in my entire life. We turned around and walked away with our entire shopping experience ruined. My friend and I were then in a bad mood for the rest of the time spent in the store. Moral of the story is to please fire the passive aggressive lady who berated my friend and I at 10:30 am on a random thursday in January. read more

I don't normally shop at Crate and Barrel and now I remember why. I went in to purchase two pricey items (my total was over $500). First there was no help to be found. Finally when I got help, she was more concerned about finding someone to assist at the register than helping me. I had basic questions that she was unable to answer (thank goodness for google). I was going to get a third item that was mid priced. Two people saw it and they still would not honor it. The registers are old and slow, and the kicker was when the first cashier sad that we could pull up front and they would bring my stuff out since it was heavy and I have a bad back. The first cashier got switched when they went to verify the price and the second cashier who was the inattentive one who was rude said that I now had to go to the back of the store and that they were busy. I understand that stores are busy, but honestly don't offer something that you can't come through on. I just found it to be a bad experience overall with rude service. It's been a while since I've walked into a Crate & Barrel and even longer since I've walked out with a purchase. The Deer Park Crate & Barrel is a nice store. Spacious and lit well, it's organized in a way that makes sense. I came in with a specific item in mind-- old fashioned rock glasses. There was a bit of a variety online, but I didn't want to pay shipping, so I decided to wander into the actual store to pick a few up for an etching project. In store, there weren't a ton of options for me to choose from in the style I wanted. There were three that I saw. I ended up leaving with the cheapest of the glasses they had at $4.00-ish a glass. Not a bad price, all things considered. Checking out was easy and the glasses were wrapped REALLY well. I appreciated that, as I can't wrap glasses well for the life of me. My only regret is that I didn't take them up on the boxes they offered me at check-out. On top of all that, everyone was very helpful and informative when I needed assistance! I had a great experience at this Crate and Barrel. It's located in the Deer Park Town Center, which means there's a lot of other stores you can visit in one shopping trip. Parking was easy on the weekday afternoon I visited the mall. Overall, this is a worthwhile location! read more

I absolutely love Crate and Barrel products ... and have spent a lot of time and money ($10k + in the last calendar year) in this store each time being disappointed with the service but not enough to leave. The staff is elitist and arrogant with little regard for customer happiness. I am a down to earth person who does not dress as if I am wealthy so they often treat me as a person not worthy of there attention Recently I ordered a couch that we needed before Xmas guests arrived. At purchase time (November 1)it was indicated as a 2 week lead time. Several trips through the store for other purchases and I inquired the status each time. Each time they were combative and vague regarding delivery. Three "estimated" delivery dates came and went with a new delivery of late December... 10 weeks after order and well past the date I needed it. Mind you this is a $2500 love seat that is a standard/stock item... not custom in any way. Long story short ... I had to be extremely rude to get them to cancel the order and refund my money. I purchased a couch from another store and it was delivered in six days with no hassle. I very much recommend that you select another crate and barrel store. read more

The stuff is ok, but we came in to pick up some crap my girlfriend ordered and the woman we talked to right when we walked in told us she would take care of it. 10 minutes later, another customer came in and received their pick up in 2 minutes. My girlfriend mentioned this to the woman at the counter, and then, the pickup order was brought out within 2 minutes. They need to be more aware of how long a customer had been waiting, especially when her alpha male bf is with her and wants to leave ASAP. read more

This location is ok. It's smaller than the Northbrook location, and the staff seems a bit snooty, which I don't understand. BUT, am a fan of Crate & Barrel in general. They've got nice stuff. I tend towards their table/dinnerware stuff more than like their furniture, because it's a bit too modern/contemporary for my taste. But their place-settings, silverware, glasses, etc.. all that is FABULOUS and beautiful, and nice quality. read more

The next day I even received an e-mail with some helpful tips on how to care for my items so that they can be part of my home for years to come. First off, one star is not what Crate and Barrel as a store deserves. I love Crate and Barrel, and every time I walk in, I happen upon many things that I want to take home. The one star is for this location's service. I manage another high-end retail store in this shopping plaza, and I have been inside of this store many times - shopping, to introduce myself when I transferred to my job location here, and to pass out flyers when we offer incentives or have special events for mall employees. Never once have I been greeted when I walk in the door. I spent about an hour in there recently with a C&B gift card I received for Christmas, and not one associate spoke to me. They were buzzing about the store in droves - so it most certainly was not a staffing issue, far as I can tell. I know they saw me, since they had no trouble looking me up and down multiple times as they passed by. I had multiple questions that went unanswered, as I am in the process of starting to purchase kitchen and living items to furnish a new apartment in the coming months. I will most likely not return to this location unless forced. I hate the idea of not giving my mall partners business when I can, but time and time again they have proven they do not value customers that walk through their doors. I will refrain from returning to this location for the time being. The Northbrook store is only a little farther from where I live at the moment, and because of the local corporate presence, their customer service is exponentially better. read more

I have always loved crate and barrel and was excited to shop for my new apartment as I have relocated to the area. However, when I walked into the Deer Park store with my mother, an employee asked me if I was just looking and when I said yes, her response was, "yeah I can tell, or you're just going to use the bathroom." I immediately felt embarrassed. I was planning to buy a set of kitchen supplies I had been eyeing but ultimately decided against It for this reason. I love this location. For someone who hates to shop, this place makes me enjoy shopping. I always look forward to my shopping trips to Crate & Barrel. My biggest pet peeve is when you walk into a store, and the associates do not stop bothering you (trying to sell you things or trying to help you find things when you clearly don't need help looking - sorry, but I know exactly what I want already). The associates at this store never do that to me, and it is so greatly appreciated!! If you happen to need help, they are there and will very happily assist you and solve any issues that may arise. But I truly love that they don't hound me to try and sell me something, that has made me turn around and leave so many other stores. This store always has everything I am looking for in stock - mostly all of my kitchen supplies are from this store. The SA's at this location are very friendly, helpful and always greet me immediately upon entering not only the store, but if I wander into a new SA's 'section'. In December 2017, in a mad rush to get holiday shopping sorted, I accidentally dropped a silicon ice mold which clanked into a display of wine glasses. Thankfully none of them broke- I honestly don't know how the 24 plus glasses were left unscathed from my blunder- but the sales associate in the section immediately called out to me and comforting as I nervously apologised and lmk even if they HAD broken, it was okay. I furnished many parts of my new home with Crate and Barrel products and ordered them all from this one location. I love their design, but I'm not very happy with the customer experience and the quality of the products. Every single order had some kind of problems including OBVIOUS damages and bad delivery. Some items had to be replaced multiple times and still I had to settle with discount for minor defects. In the process, I wasted a lot of time and energy, and I lost confidence for the brand. I recently bought a sofa table and I picked it up in store to avoid the delivery fee. It was a small table and fit in my SUV trunk. Due to my previous bad experiences with their furniture, I opened the top of the box with the warehouse staff and inspected it for scratches and damages. It looked okay on the top and I went home (five minutes away from the store) in the original package. I had bad feelings about store pickup to be honest because their furniture always came with defects of some kind. NOT to my surprise, there was a huge crack on the bottom part of the shelf. It's obviously defected from the manufacturing site because the crack is not loose and there's no broken pieces in the box. Do they have a QC process at all? How can they send out a product like this to a customer? For the price I paid, I'm really baffled for the low quality. I keep ordering from the brand because I like the design, but this really upset me. Once I was told I can go to the warehouse myself and inspect the product and schedule a delivery. Seriously? Now customer service... I called the store right away and was told that due to the price of the product, they normally do not recommend store pick-up for this type of products and that perhaps the sales person was trying to do me a favor to avoid the delivery fee. A favor? No, that's not right. 1) If this is the concern, the company shouldn't be offering a store pick up option in the first place as a company policy. 2) they should have inspection process at the store when handing off the product to the customer 3) there was no apology for the faulty product whatsoever. Because of my history, this damage really set me off right away and ruined the whole evening on my end. They are exchanging it with a new piece, but it's on back order for weeks. I can let it slide if it's one order that they messed up (and I have many times in the past), but come on. It's every single order I placed so far... I'm not sure if their corporate office is responsive to customer feedback, but I plan to send in a mail to their senior management. I told them in the past, I'm paying $$$ for a NEW piece of furniture. I just want defect free product that I was promised....I think even discount supermarket can do a better quality check. I am surprised by the low rating, I just paid this store a visit yesterday and it was pretty a OK by my book. Store clerks are VERY friendly. When you first walk in, they do not buzz around you asking every 5 seconds if you need help. However, once you start shopping and looking around, a good number of store clerks would approach. If you only see 1 or 2 of something on display, ask if they have more, chances are, they likely have more in the back. Because the store is small, they only display certain items and most of the inventory is in the back. The bathroom is located in the CENTER of the store, not on the sides or in the back, like most places. When you walk to the center, find a huuge wooden column in the middle and the bathroom is tucked in there. Ask for Suzanne C, she is a sweetheart. At least she was very helpful to me. The guy with the glasses, older who wears an apron is uberly nice. I practically did 75% of my Christmas shopping here yesterday, and they have wrapping year round! Dainty boxes, very classy! Pay more for the quality, service and free wrapping, and beat the unruly traffic at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. read more

Ordered a floor lamp in bronze. When I opened it the color was dark gray. The box was labeled bronze so I thought that perhaps it was mislabeled. When I took it back, they said that that is the manufacturer's color for bronze. They gladly returned my money, but I still had to go to the store twice and still don't have a lamp. read more

The store is considered to be top notch, but the service is far from acceptable. I wanted to return plates I bought a two weeks ago,and purchase different ones. I was told that the plates were used and cannot be returned. In fact they were washed and never used. The sales associate was most unfriendly on the verge of rudeness. I wish I could give it 100 stars. Especially to Laura, who was a blessing to me when I went into this store. She was beyond kind, extremely helpful and helped me get a bunch of gifts on a co-worker's registry for a shower we were having for her at work. I had minimal time and felt a bit overwhelmed at everything I had to get. She took the registry list, whisked me through the store and we got the gifts together, in half the time it would have taken me. They even subtotaled the gifts we had collected so that we could be sure to stick to my budget and as if all of this wasn't enough, she made the gifts looks beautiful in their packages. I wrote a letter to the company so that Laura gets the recognition she so greatly deserves. I am a big fan if crate and barrel. We recently started our registry at the deer park location. Store has decent selection but it is a little on the small side. My biggest complaint is the unfriendly staff. A lot of older women that just seemed bitter. I understand it probably wasn't your plan to be working at the age of 60 - 65 (tough economy) but you should not bring a negative attitude into a service job. Needless to say, we recently finished our registry at the Schaumburg location. Complete opposite experience. Staff was young, energetic and smiling. We didn't even realize but we stayed in the store 20 minutes past close and no one even batted an eye. They checked us out like we were the first customer of the day. Yes, we did some shopping too for fathers day. Registry is finished and probably won't go back to deer park location unless absolutely necessary. After all it is on my way home from work and employees can change. read more

I was at the Crate and Barrel location in Deer Park today to return a Nespresso Coffee Maker that was not operating properly. Was treated like a criminal by the Manager on duty, Monday at 11:30 am. She stated they would not take back a coffee maker that was used. Coffee maker was purchased 2 weeks ago. She continued to question me and asked why I was returning coffee maker to the Deer Park location when it was purchased in Northbrook. I was under the impression that Crate and Barrel is a chain and didn't matter which one you visited. Guilty, just want coffee in the morning without a hassle. Needless to say I will not be returning to this location. This woman needs to learn customer service. Nasty. According to Crate and Barrel policy I have 90 days to return item. I just moved to the area and I have shopped there 3-4 times in the last 6 months and each time I have gone in the clerks (specifically the counter/check-out) have been standoffish and a little rude. The most recent time I went in, the cashier asked if I wanted an e-mail receipt and before I could answer, she quickly presses the "yes" button and rushes me out of there.
