We hired ABA Remodeling for a bathroom renovation and were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the project. Professionalism: From the outset, the owner, Karl, demonstrated outstanding professionalism. He provided a prompt, competitive estimate, and the final cost actually came in slightly under budget. The demolition was carried out with surgical precision, and the entire worksite was kept immaculately clean throughout the project. Karl and his partner David handled all the work themselves--eliminating the typical delays and coordination issues that come with juggling multiple subcontractors. Creativity and Craftsmanship: Karl's insight during the planning phase helped us reimagine the layout to maximize both space and functionality. He offered thoughtful, practical design suggestions that elevated the final result, guiding us toward choices that added real value. Karl and David brought an old-world craftsmanship and an impeccable attention to detail to every stage of the process. High-quality materials were used throughout, and Karl's network of skilled artisans--including a stone mason and glass cutter--ensured that every component was expertly sourced and installed at a fair price. In short, ABA Remodeling delivered exceptional quality and service at a value that's hard to beat. We had such a positive experience that we're already planning a second renovation project with them. read more

We hired Karl to remodel our dated basement which had some previous water damage. After getting several quotes we chose ABA Remodeling based on Karl's great attitude, pictures and reviews of his previous work, and overall price. From the beginning Karl was very communicative and helpful and even helped us deal with our insurance company. He took time to answer all questions that we had and provided suggestions based on his experience. Karl and his staff respected our home by keeping it clean and we had no reservations about letting them work without us being present. Karl and his staff did an amazing job on our basement. From the drywall work and painting to flooring, doors, windows, cabinets and counter top the quality of work and attention to detail are incredible. The basement project was finished on time and on budget. After seeing the quality of work done we also had Karl replace a sliding glass door and window in our kitchen. The new sliding door and window look and function great and we couldn't be any happier. We will definitely have Karl back for future renovations. read more

Highly recommend ABA for your remodeling needs. Karl and David recently completed a renovation of our full bathroom which they took down to the studs. Our project was completed on time and stayed on budget. Not only do Karl and David both have very strong attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship, but they are also both extremely pleasant to be around. That may seem like a minor detail but makes the entire renovation process more enjoyable. Karl also has excellent recommendations in terms of tile selection in addition to great vendor contacts for cabinets and countertops. Like other reviewers have shared, they were always prompt to arrive every morning and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. We are looking forward to Karl working on a few more projects in our home soon due to our satisfaction with this first project. Thanks, Karl! read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would! HORRIBLE work, CHEAP materials, and 2 weeks later so many things falling apart! You will end up having to find another contractor that can speak English to fix their work. Many problems after this job was supposed to be done and now after my check was cashed don't return my calls. Do business elsewhere and thank me later! read more

Last year, Karl and his crew did an amazing job on our master bathroom. It was a complete remodel. Walls added, tub ripped out, shower expanded, barn door added, etc. This summer, we had Karl back to remodel our kitchen. Another amazing job! Pictures speak for themselves. He made great suggestions while still allowing us autonomy to add our own design. Fair pricing and honest quotes. Not common in the contracting world. Above all, his craftsmanship is what is most impressive. read more

We had an appointment set up yesterday for 4:30 to get an estimate. (The owner had me text him a week ago what I wanted done in our home. So he knew what to expect when he got here.) I texted Karl to see if we were still on about an hour before our appointment. No reply. Around 5:00, I texted him and he said he was working and had to stay for a couple more hours on that job. I asked him why he didn't contact me to let me know our appointment would be cancelled if he knew he wasn't able to keep our appointment. Again, no reply. No customer service.. Karl, I would not have wasted your time.... disappointed that you wasted my time. read more

My husband and I needed to hire a contractor ASAP after a previous contractor very unprofessionally backed out. We were in a hurry because we were expecting our first baby in a few months, and had very little time to do a LOT of remodeling. We found ABA Remodeling as well as another company and invited them both over for estimates. We chose ABA Remodeling because Karl gave us the best estimate. He also committed to completing the job before our baby arrived. He was extremely professional, never waivered on price (I heard horror stories of contractors upping the price after finishing the job because of 'unforeseen' items) and definitely finished when he said he would (another first for a contractor!) His recommendations throughout the job were always wonderful because he knows what he is doing. He is young, trendy and has a wonderful, hard-working staff. I would recommend ABA Remodeling to anyone who needs remodeling services. Don't waste your time looking anywhere else! read more

I will definitely call Karl again when I am ready for my next project. Ginny L. read more

Really great work! Clear communication. Kept appointments. Always on time. Respectful of our home and kept the worksite tidy throughout. Brought great ideas and helped us plan a renovation that is like a completely new home. Great attention to detail. Fair pricing. Working with a contractor can be stressful and they put my mind at ease throughout. Happy to recommend ABA. read more

Very professional kitchen remodel. Karl and David did outstanding work and were very easy to deal with. Karl listened to our ideas and gave great ideas of his own. They kept to the schedule and always gave me daily updates on progress and what was the schedule for the next day. The subcontractors he brought in for the electrical, flooring, and counter tops are all top-notch. His pride in his work is evident! Highly recommended with no concerns. read more

After deciding we needed a new kitchen, my wife and I asked around for contractor recommendations. We heard about shifty and inattentive and careless and sloppy contractors who didn't keep their word or a schedule. Then we heard about Karl Pajak and ABA Remodeling, who had done extensive work on a colleague's home, in a reasonable time, for a reasonable price. Karl came to our home and listened. He asked questions about functionality and design and offered lots of possibilities, always explaining pros and cons and costs and opportunities. He was honest and informative. He didn't up sell us on anything but made a number of suggestions on how to get the most value for our investment. He told us when he could start and his team barely stopped until the whole kitchen was done. During the whole process we encountered a single issue and when we brought it to his attention he had the solution in place that night. We couldn't be happier with the result. The care that went into the details, the little extras that he added along the way barely charging more than the cost of materials and the fact that the team straightened up as best as possible each night before they left, made the construction as easy to live with as possible. We are so happy with the kitchen and the professionalism that went into its renovation that we are having ABA redo our master bath as soon as they are available. We are writing this review because we were grateful a friend shared their recommendation to us. Call ABA first. You'll be glad you did. read more

Karl and his coworker David did a bathroom remodel for us and it turned out fantastic! Just the other day my husband said he felt like he was showering at a spa. Karl was very helpful in all aspects of the project. He was always available to answer questions and give suggestions on materials and design. Karl and David were very respectful and hard workers. They got the job done in what I felt was an incredibly efficient amount of time, but did not skimp out on quality. Overall we are incredibly pleased and would recommend their services to anyone who asks. We will definitely be using ABA for other remodeling projects. read more

Karl and David recently remodeled our master bathroom. They did an amazing job! Our project was a gut rehab, which included challenging plumbing and electrical re-work. Most of the contractors we interviewed just scratched their heads, but Karl and his subcontractors found an elegant and cost-effective solution. Not only Karl kept us informed throughout the whole project, he even helped us from a design perspective - which was much appreciated. Every detail of their work showed that they care and proud of what they do. I found ABA remodeling through yelp and I'm happy to join the other 5-star reviews! read more

Karl and Dave recently completed a plaster repair in our dining room. They showed up at the time they promised, did a wonderful job and we couldn't be more pleased. They also painted our laundry basement room. Again, the results were excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

We had some really awful popcorn ceiling that Karl and David removed. They redid the ceiling, added recessed lights and trim, and our room looks fantastic now! They sealed the room off from the rest of the house as much as possible and kept the dust to a minimum. I was expecting to have to wash the floors for days afterwards as the dust settled, but surprisingly, there wasn't much! They were always on time, and Karl always responded to my emails as soon as he could. We are talking about other projects and will certainly be giving Karl a call! read more

Karl remodeled our master bath suite. They removed everything and we started from scratch somewhat overwhelming but Karl knows what he is doing. He built a wall and installed a barn door for privacy with great results. He gave great suggestions since there are so many decisions to be made when remodeling. His work is extremely professional. Easy to work with we would definitely hire him again. read more

This is the second basement, that we have had Karl finish, it is bright and welcoming! Karl and David, are not only efficient but very hard workers. He said it would be done in 3 to 4 weeks, and it was just under the 4 week timeline. Give him a try, as we would certainly use him again, for other projects! read more

Karl did our family room for us and it looks completely different! Were we glad we we found him!!! Both him and David did an absolutely awesome job! It looks so modern and we get so many compliments on it. We showed him a picture of the look of the fireplace we wanted and he made it exactly that from just a picture. In fact he made it better than the picture. His idea made the fireplace stand out and is the highlight. It looks absolutely stunning! He had so many good ideas and I am so glad we went with what he suggested! They were always on time and left the place clean everyday. In fact they made sure that the house was locked up. They both were very particular about even the smallest of details. He gave me a timeline of 7 to 10 working days and finished in 15....but that is only because we added a few more things. There are too many great things to list! I have no regrets in hiring them and would highly recommend them. We are definitely hiring them for our next project! read more

We found Karl and his company, ABA Remodeling by searching local bathroom remodelers in Palatine, and we are so glad we did! From the beginning Karl was always on time, and he came with ideas and suggestions based on his expertise. He also gave us a full and thorough estimate for our bathroom remodel in writing and said that it wouldn't change. He was easy to reach anytime we had questions. When the job started he gave us a time frame of about a week and 2 days. He not only finished in less than a week but did a phenomenal job. The quality of the work was impeccable and showed great attention to detail. He picked up most of the material himself, and we only had to go pick out a few things on our own. He also did a bunch of extra home repairs for us during the same time and everything not only works great but he didn't nickel and dime us for every little thing. He and his crew are reliable, hard-working and courteous, and he will be our go-to guy from now on. We are extremely happy with the results and impressed with his work ethic. We highly recommend him and his company - ABA Remodeling! read more
