People hire doulas for a smoother time post birth. Jessica comes in and does the exact opposite with her insecurities. I found her to be insecure per her emails, which is why she kept pushing to cook for us from her commercial kitchen a lot. She brought a lot of negativity with her.

Her work was immensely appreciated, as she really helped ease the adjustment to having two little ones (especially two who are relatively close in age). Her skill set is both broad and unique, which makes her an especially great asset to a family with a new baby. Not only is she amazing with babies, mommies, daddies and older children, she's also great with food---a professionally trained chef! Jess creatively and skillfully prepared meals for us, making sure our bellies were full with delicious and healthful food--and for my and baby's benefit, she chose ingredients that were lactogenic (helped with milk production) and helped with post partum healing. Her skills didn't stop there. She soothed and entertained my 18 month old on more than a few occasions, helping me to get some much needed breaks. She arrived on time and left us with a clean kitchen and a full fridge. Having healthy food readily on hand is such an important thing for families with a newborn--knowing I didn't need to cook or rush to the grocery store, definitely reduced my stress level. I also knew if I needed help with babycare or questions about first baths, etc. she was there to offer suggestions and support. All in all, we had a fantastic experience with Jessica and would readily and happily recommend her to any family in need of post partum support in the Seattle area.

As the groom, I took on "honeymoon planning," and to be honest, was struggling at it. Feeling overwhelmed, I reached out to Lexi, who in the past had planned a vacation for us in Italy (which was stunning). I was on the phone with Lexi within 24 hours, describing what we were looking for in a honeymoon and asking if her service would be a good fit for us. She was honest with us in what her service could provide, and we ended up giving her the keys to our honeymoon. It was perfect. Lexi was careful about respecting our budget, and with that in mind, gave us 3-4 realistic options for trips we could take. We settled on Anguilla -- an island I had literally never heard of -- with an extra stop in St. Martin, and it was everything we had asked for. Side note, if you enjoy beautiful beaches, wonderful people, relaxation and delicious food, go to Anguilla. The BEST part about working with Lexi is that the experience does not end when the planning is finished. Lexi was available to us throughout the trip, from packing and pre-departure, and then during the trip for things as simple as finding us the best rental cars, modifying our reservations while we relaxed at the beach, or finding the coolest little spots to explore. A final note on how helpful Lexi is - there was an unfortunate death in our family while we were on the honeymoon. Lexi was immediately available and helpful in evaluating our options and planning our return home. I was very clear I dont like group photos that have a "set-up" cheesy type quality. I spoke with David over the phone 5 days before my wedding and confirmed the time, location, etc of my event. I made a point of telling him that at my wedding location there were gorgeous backdrops for pictures including the glass museum bridge, union station, the downtown waterfront in Tacoma, and many more. On the day of my wedding David showed up over an hour late to my hotel room to take photos (he text me when he was ten minutes late to say he was 15 minutes away then I guess he was looking for parking for the rest of the time). By that time I was busy and unable to get the candids I had wanted of me getting ready. I told him again how much I dont like the cheesy set up type pictures and to please avoid photographing the wedding party that way. Let me state that David is very personable and a very pleasent person to have a conversation with. He took pictures of my husband and groomsmen on the stairs inside the Museum (not outside infront of any of the lovely old building that were literally outside the front door). He kept telling them to do "something crazy". The photos all look very cheesy, set up, and forced. He did not take one single photo of anyone infront of any of the beautiful architecure that was available. He took pictures of the reception area, pictures of me infront of a concrete wall with blinds (which washed me out horribly), and for some reason back to the same nondescript staircase again for family photos). When I recieved the photos from weddingbug I was sick. There are maybe 3 usuable shots of my husband and I together. There were 300 photos total he took (and I mean total, not after he threw out unusable shots). There are maybe 25 shots total that can be edited to look average at best. He managed to catch every bad angle and unattractive facial expressions on both of us. He repeatedly took phots of us in a pose that made me look like a hunchback. He took 10 shots of a photo that I got my husband as a wedding gift. Thats right my friends. He took pictures of a picture that I already owned. Nothing to be done about it now, my photos are awful. Whats interesting is David showed me some photos of a friend of his wedding. He mentioned he had gone and scouted the location ahead of time. There were beautiful, dramatic photo journalism style photos I loved. For some reason, maybe because Im not his friend, or I booked him through weddingbug.com, he decided my wedding was going to look like cheesy, forced, bad prom photos. I should have said or done something at the wedding about my concerns but I was too busy trying to enjoy my event and foolishly expected I wouldnt have to tell a professional adult how to do their job. I probably wouldnt have written a review but David asked me to write a review for his profile (before I had even seen my photos).

I wanted multiple groupings during our shoot, and we had great results from each set. The idea was to achieve professional portraits in a natural home setting and we definitely were able to capture the mood and personalities of each family member.
