Just passing by on our way to another restaurant and noticed this place was open. Not sure how long they've been there cuz whatever was here before them never opened.... I digress! The menu outside featured a bacon infused smashburger so we went inside to try it. We also got a large side salad, which consisted of arugula & spinach, not your typical side salad! And the large was enough for two people! We split the burger and the salad and both were delish! The restaurant is small, about 4 tables but plenty of bar seating. Located on Mission Inn Ave. & Market St. across the street from The Mission Inn Hotel. There's street metered parking and a nearby structure on Market/Mission Inn with a rate of $15. It was our 1st time here, so we made reservations for Saturday evening, but it was not busy when we got there at 7 PM. This is a nice-looking lounge but VERY small, with a bar and a couple tables inside. Also has outside patio seating in the front. As a starter, we had their "Ahi Poke Nachos." The menu item I ordered was not available, so I tried their "Bacon Infused Smash Burger," accompanied by a "Cloud Nine" cocktail. We were not impressed with the food, but it was good (maybe we just didn't know what to order here). We felt that the drinks were a bit watered down, perhaps because the glass was filled with ice. We came in a Sunday during brunch hour at 11am and we were sat on the patio. I'll start with the good: fries and home style potatoes were excellent. The au jus was also really good (usually it's an afterthought). The management also were quick to rectify any issues by comping meals. We got the blta and prime dip. The beef was dry and had a lot of gristle. I also found it awkward to eat because of the type of bread they used for the dip. The horseradish aioli wasn't sharp enough for my liking but that's a personal preference. My wife's blta was a huge disappointment to her after waiting 45 minutes for it. The "sundried" tomatoes tasted like they were fresh tomatoes that were set under the broiler for a couple minutes. The candied bacon just tasted like they brushed it with honey. The guacamole tasted like the premade ones you can pick up at a grocery store and was only on one of the muffins, when we asked about it they said it was supposed to be only on one side (not mentioned on the menu). And the English muffin wasn't toasted. Yikes. They had several tables that were "reserved" but we were there for almost 90 minutes and no one used those tables. We waited for almost an hour for our food and it honestly just seemed like they didn't have the actual ingredients they usually used and improvised with what they had. The ambiance inside (if you can actually sit in there) seemed really cool, and the staff seem nice enough but it was a huge miss for us. They also messed up on an order for the people sitting next to us so they comped their meal since the diners didn't have time to wait for them to cook another meal. Wow! Let's start there. This is seriously a hidden gem in downtown Riverside that everyone is sleeping on. The music is loud enough to hear but not to stop you from having a conversation. Yes it's a little small, but you don't feel like you're on top of the person next to. They have a good selection of drinks and if you don't see anything on the menu, just ask the bartender and he'll make you something unique. The mission in area is full of great trendy restaurants. Parking is definitely difficult and as it was raining, we opted to just pay to park in the garage instead of driving around in circles. We arrive at around 315 only to be told that they were only serving cocktails until 4 PM when the kitchen opened. this left us a little bit confused because on their website they are open from 10 AM to 10 PM on Saturdays. We almost started to try to find another restaurant but instead just walked around and came back around 3:40 pm because we really wanted to try the food. Service was super friendly and efficient and overall that is what gives this place three stars instead of two. Cocktails are weak so I switched to wine. The food really wasn't worth the hype. The lobster tacos were OK, but were severely lacking some flavor and seasoning. The French onion soup was adequate. The lobster risotto was bland and had tiny little flecks of lobster throughout rather than the chunks you really want to enjoy. my husband's burger was good but a little bit dry. It was a little bit overcooked and desperately calling for some sort of aioli. The highlight was definitely the truffle fries, 100% worth the upgrade. Thank goodness he was willing to share or else I would've left hungry. The brownie tasted underbaked and was more dull than what you could get just in one of those boxes. Nice vibes with the music and decor. This isn't a place you wanna come with a big group as there are only four tables inside. However, there is a good amount of patio space, but again it was raining. In short I debated back and forth between 2 and 3 stars. But I'm opting for the three stars because the ingredients are fresh, the chef clearly cares, the service was good.
