Damn. Should have, could have, but didn't. Should have been amazing with prompt service at a great table as the night was winding down. Could have been amazing eatery with the nights dinner service nearly over. The cocktails could have been delivered as a precursor to our fabulous late evening out after long day at work. In the beginning waiter was fantastic...jumped on our table immediately, got cocktails ordered, and put in appetizer for us. Twenty minutes later, cold appetizer was delivered before cocktails. We got waters after asking twice. Waiter was nowhere to be found as we asked for red pepper for appetizer. Ordered pizza and a couple follow up beers after finishing cocktails and appetizer. Again, no waiter for a good 30 minutes. Came by to ask if needed anything else before realizing forgot about pizza. Reminded waiter about beers...which were never put in. Waiter continued to be relaxed and overly happy as our failed experience worsened. Pizza was old, cold...under cooked and oily. We sent pizza back and beers finally showed. The Craft & Vine has been better, but wasn't tonight. It'll take a good 3 month rotation for us to think about trying this place again. read more

Liked my meal here at Craft & Vine. The elevated gastropub has an interesting cocktail and food menu, certainly the most creative I've seen in the area. Tasted bites of wood fired salted pretzel bites w/ pimiento cheese fondue (the bites were salty good and dip had a ton of flavor), fried eggplant w/ rosemary butter and a honey drizzle (this was a little sweet for me), cauliflower popcorn (again, fried) and a pork cheek hash with egg (rich, as expected). Tasting all of these with a Bee's Pajamas cocktail (gin, honey, angostura and pear bitters) was a nice little meal. I feel as if I scratched the surface on what C&V is capable of, so I'll be sure to head back for return visits (with rabbit wings and pizza!). Fun atmosphere, but: Prices have gone up, not out of the norm these days. But portion sizes have gone down. For example, the scallops are good, but you get 3. With 3 brussel sprouts... In years past you would get at least ~5 scallops. Too bad they don't have more options for sides so you can makeup for the small dinner sizes. And 2 of our party's entrees came out with enough time to finish them before the 3rd guests meal came. They are moving away from their online waitlist system, but you wouldn't know it from their website. I guess that's a good thing because during their Christmas theme, got on the waitlist within 5 min of them opening. And proceeded to still wait 3 hours because they would sit people who walked in. This place was out of my league. I love great food but unfortunately I've got a limited budget for it. But, my wife and I decided to check this place out and here is our experience (don't worry, it was really good). We were with a group of 6 and had to wait for about an hour for seating. They don't have an option for reservations so it was first come first serve. They do have drink service while you wait and their cocktail list is excellent. The atmosphere was everything you'd expect: low lighting, comfortable tables and chairs, and modern decor. The food was amazing. We ordered their deviled eggs, popcorn cauliflower, and their Meaty Pizza. This pizza was phenomenal, if we ever go back, it's because we are craving pizza. If you go with a big group, I promise you the $70 punch bowl IS NOT worth it. When my husband and I last went we ordered two pizzas and our waiter forgot about the second one, it took forever to get it once we reminded him but the manager came over, was really sweet and took it off of our bill. The menu consists of small share plates and the cocktails are spectacular. We left feeling satisfied but not overly stuffed. Prohibition style cocktails? Yes please! I was looking for something fancy that would give me a good excuse to wear a suit, so I took my wife to Craft & Vine. I may have looked like the staff being so fancy, but I sure felt like Al Capone. Men need more excuses to wear suits and this little hand-crafted cocktail bar is just the spot. This prohibition style bar serves hospitality in a glass and if you arrive Wed-Sat at 5-6:30pm or 10pm-closing you can save $2 a glass for Happy Hour. Personally, I don't think Al Capone would be in downtown Augusta at midnight so I hit the early bird HH specials. - Hand-crafted cocktails - Large wine list - Gourmet small plates - Fancy & friendly staff - Good for groups While Craft & Vine isn't on the cheap side, the food is worth every penny. You don't have to be a millionaire mobster to eat here, but it'll cost at least $30 per person with drinks and appetizers. The experience though, oh the experience! You'll feel like you're on a Food Network show when your small plates arrive and don't skimp on desert either. I started the night off right with an Old Fashioned ($6 HH) and let me tell you, they don't go cheap on the whiskey. You might want to call an Uber if you're having more than one. After a few sips of whiskey the Cheeseboard and Meat Platter (5 for $25) arrived. For any of you cheese and meat snobs, this is the dish for you. My pallet isn't as crazy about cheese but I could still appreciate the differences in flavor. Next came the Soft Shell Crab special ($10) which was a WHOLE crab that was fried to the point I just ate it with shell and all. The lettuce on the side was pretty blah but that crab was worth ordering a second just for me. Don;t plan on sharing this dish! My favorite bite? The Muscles ($12) were fantastic! They had a roasted garlic cream, herbs, white wine and heirloom tomatoes mixed in. Every bite had layers of flavor and when I ran out of muscles I nearly cried. This dish is notoriously hard to eat in a suit unless you can somehow eat them without getting splatter all over. I ended up doing that napkin as a bib thing, which worked out fine and looked super silly. I finished everything off with some Truffles ($5) which just melted in my mouth! You don't even have to be a chocolate fan to enjoy these bad boys. I tried a few other dishes that friends were having like the pizza and there were no complaints. Really, you can't lose no matter what you order. Stop by Craft & Vine and then enjoy their less expensive counterparts at Frog Hollow or Farmhaus Burger for equally amazing quality. read more

We arrived and wanted 2 seats at the bar, which were available - except that there were 2 people on the waitlist WHO WEREN'T EVEN THERE YET. We were forced to sit in the doorway and wait for 2 more seats to open while the 2 empty seats just sat there. If your table becomes available and you aren't here you should lose it. Update...the manager allowed us to sit there as 2 other seats at the bar were soon to come available for the people that weren't there. The bartender is wonderful...a talented craft cocktail bartender. They forgot to put cheese on our pizza so had to add cheese and put it back in the oven and so the crust burned. The cauliflower appetizer was great, my boyfriends favorite was the wings, and the dessert was out of this world! We also got the punch bowl, which was really good! They lit small candles around it as they brought it to our table. It was quite an experience! In addition, the service was fast, friendly, great overall, and the atmosphere matched the food! We arrived a few minutes before 5, and had to wait until they opened. By 5:15, the place was packed!! We also appreciated that one of the hostesses asked if they could seat an 8 top next to us. As I was just back from vacation I wanted to stay away from the high calorie libations ( I know, I know!) so I stuck with sparkling wine. I had a glass of both options that are served by the glass. Hubs had two glasses of the grūner veltliner, that's a great wine you don't see often. We did try the pretzel bites as an appetizer, and while I could taste the smokey flavor from the wood burning oven overall I was not impressed. Next time I'll order charcuterie to start. For our meals we both had pizza (yes, again-very adventurous). I had the white pizza and he had the peach BBQ pizza. Both were very good, I'd absolutely order them again. I have good allergies and I love it when places note on their menus to please let them know. Yes, I have to sometimes answer a million questions- but it tells me 1. They care 2. They know what they are serving. The service and attention to detail was great. Not only was everyone friendly, but helpful. It's a perfect place for either a date night or to hang out with a small group of friends; the wife and I are always torn choosing between Frog Hollow and Craft & Vine on the rare date nights. I hate using the word mixologist but the only other word that comes to mind is wizard. He expertly made cocktails with exactness that showed he knew his craft. The food was excellent. The pretzel bites with pimiento cheese sauce was by far the best I've had. The food is small plates only, so unless you want pizza, there is not much in way of regular portion. The meat and cheese tray is a must and so is the roasted olives. One warning on the pizza, the meaty is very salty because they use dried meats and not actual regular pizza toppings. We had to send ours back because it was not edible.
