They said the ham tasted funny. I reported this, but nothing was done. The rest of the family said their food was just OK. So if you're going to go there, get the cheeseburger. Opted for breakfast platters which included 2 eggs, ham, 2 bacon and 1 sausage patty. Skip the sausage patty - ham was best meat for us. Option of hash brown casserole, fruit or tomatoes. Hash brown casserole was salty but tasty. Option of 2 pancakes, 2 French toast halves or toast were also included. Pancakes were greasy and flavorless but French toast was good. Stopped in between the late breakfast crowd and the early lunch groups. Friendly staff. Our lunch order was taken quickly; but after close to 30 minutes we only had our drinks and no appetizers. Staff was apologetic and brought out some tasty biscuits and corn muffins while we waited (it seems like our ticket had been overlooked). Regardless of the delay, food came out hot and tasted good. It's exactly what you'd expect--a cozy, homey atmosphere with hearty meals that hit the spot. Our server was a bit on the slow side, but to be fair, they were juggling a busy crowd. Coming from a family funeral wanted a nice meal so we chose Cracker barrel unfortunately we were very disappointed in the service. Our waitress was Britney and was very rude,instead of handing us out drinks she slid them across the table she did not bother to ask if we were ready to place our order instead she went and took the people that were seated after us their order. She came back we asked for extra ice and she rudely slammed it on the table,at that point I was upset,my nephew told she was being rude and she got loud,she went and told the manager and he came out and was rude himself,said we had cussed at her which was very untrue. We live in Waco and have never had any issues with any service but I will never return to the Temple store. If Britney is having a bad day she needs to go home or find another job and as for the manager he needs some training. Stopped on the way home from visiting family in Killeen, TX. The place was not very busy and got in for the Early evening Dinner special that ends at 6PM. My wife ordered the Early Dinner Home style Chicken, with Mashed potatoes and Pinto Beans with White gravy all over it. I had the Chicken Fried steak with Brown gravy, Mac & Cheese, and green beans. Love the Cracker Barrel green beans so very much. Aryana was our waitress and was superb and very courteous, she always made sure we had everything we needed, especially nice hot fresh coffee. I ordered grandmas sampler through DoorDash.. it was delivered properly on time, however when I opened it and tasted the food, it tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill and it was all cold. I ended up taking the whole breakfast and dumping it in the trash. DoorDash gave me full credit, but I wanted to leave a a review for this restaurant. My first ever trip to Cracker Barrel was one year ago. This was my third time going. I think the frequency of my trips to different Cracker Barrel locations over a year shows how much I enjoy it. The food is well priced, filling, terribly unhealthy, but usually tastes so good. The service was not slow, quite unlike my experience at a location somewhere in Georgia I went to for my last visit. However, my friend ordered pancakes with pecans, but they arrived without pecans. I had the pancake tacos, which were delicious. They were buttermilk pancakes with eggs, bacon, and cheese inside. I had it with a side of fried apples, which were too sweet for my liking. Surprisingly, the food did not really make me full, which I think is concerning on my part as this is a restaurant that can give you heart disease, diabetes, and every other comorbidity. It took 10+ minutes for all of us to pay at the counter, as it took so long for the cashier to separate our orders for only four people. Last time I came here in a big group, the waiter gave us separate receipts that we could scan to pay, which I think should be the norm. The ham was so dry it was like chewing cardboard, the hash browns tasted like they were cooked in days-old grease, and whatever they tried to pass off as French toast was an insult to food. Amazing fried chicken. Batter flavor and texture were perfect, not too crunch, and stayed on the meat. Chicken was tender and full of flavor. I had corn muffins, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes for the sides. The meal was only $12.99, and I felt the quantity and quality was a great value. Can't wait to go back for more. Cracker Barrel Review The food wasn't bad, but the service was extremely disappointing. Our server, Brittany A., never checked on us during the entire meal. I sat through the whole thing with nothing to drink, and no one ever came by to ask how we were doing. To make it worse, the manager was sitting at a table in the restaurant chatting with a friend. The food was cold and burnt, and the portion size was pitiful. We waited 35 minutes for our food to come out. The server told us they were waiting on ham to be cooked, yet the ham was cold, as well. During our 35-minute wait for food, our server spent a good 20 of it leaning against the doorframe near the kitchen, chit chatting with another employee. She didn't check on our drinks, and we had to ask her to bring bread. In addition to being cold, the food was simply not good. I've eaten meatloaf at many a Cracker Barrel, and it has always been delicious. Not today. I travel from Dallas to Austin and back regularly, but I won't be stopping here again. This place continues to go downhill, sadly. My husband took me there for lunch, recently. We just wanted chicken and dumplings but the young lady waiting our table said we had to order sides and couldn't just get chicken and dumplings! So, we ordered sides against our better judgment. The chicken and dumplings weren't even warm! And the hash brown casserole was absolutely disgusting! It was gummy and old tasting! And who could mess up green beans? They can!!. It tasted like they accidentally dropped the whole salt container in them! We went there about a year ago and it was terrible but my husband decided we should give it another try. There won't be a third time!!! So sad because once I mentioned our experience to friends and family, they all said they quit going long ago because the quality of the food is so poor! Do not waste your time expecting service at this particular establishment. I stood at the checkout counter for over 5min while an employee conversed with another employee. When I asked if anyone could help me, I was told, "they're in the back unpacking". Finally, another customer emerged from the restaurant went up to the counter & was checked out. With that, I left my merchandise on the counter, left the store, & called the manager from the parking lot. He subsequently told me, "I'm sorry you experienced that." Sadly, I was very disappointed with my time at this Cracker Barrel location. I had the new spicy honey chicken strips and we had the loaded tots appetizer. I have had the tots before and they were much better at a different location. I'm sad to write this, it truly hurts as I love Cracker Barrel. A Texas must! Us country folk love our old country fried foods! Sure, not the most healthiest but my trip back home has been one big cheat day! I like to call it a "sweet day!" When you can't get a home-cooked meal from ya big mama, you come here to hear that love language of food! Confession: I didn't fully indulge, but I did allow the smells and visuals of biscuits and meatloaf to fill my nose and my eyes! I had my bacon, sausage, and four sides, which was the best move for my sensitive stomach. It's the simple things like a meal of fries, green beans, and sweet carrots. Awesome slow cooked roast beef that was so tender it didn't need a knife to cut it. Roast beef was delightfully flavorful as well. Sadly complimentary bread was not flavorful at all and the butter did not help, I should have requested jam or jelly but did not. Cracker Barrel was an experience, something the entire family could really enjoy. Today it has a more institutional vibe. The food is presented in the most unappealing fashion. As usual, Cracker Barrel did not disappoint for breakfast. There were four of us and we ordered a range of breakfast plates from stuffed pancakes to a country chicken fried steak meal. The service was absolutely amazing. Our waitress (Bre) was especially attentive to our needs, making sure that we had everything we requested. The ambience is typical Cracker Barrel. Lots of families, lots of noise, lots of chatter, but it just makes you feel like you're having breakfast at grandma's house. While we wait on a table (a very brief waiting time), we were able to take advantage and browse the country store there's always something to be discovered in the country store. It really gives you an old time hometown feel there is so many treasures be sure to check out the country store on your way in or if your table is immediately ready on your way out. I got a chance to sample my nieces hot chocolate, and for some reason it was especially delicious. They may have changed their brand but if you love, hot chocolate, be sure to try their new hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle when you visit next. If you're looking for good food and great service and something, that'll really stick to your ribs, this winter, you should visit Cracker Barrel for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Service and food quality was very good; exactly what you would expect from a Cracker Barrel. They are a liitle short staffed due to Covid (many restaurant workers are staying home for the govt unemployment check). So a little grace is in order. Ate at this Cracker Barrel for the first time and the first time at any Cracker Barrel in a number of years. I will not compare this location to others as each stands on its own merit in my opinion. We walked in and were immediately seated. Service was friendly and fast. I had ordered the Chicken and Dumplings, greens and slaw. The Lady had a breakfast plate of eggs over easy, toast, grits and gravy. It was good. We ate most of our food, but there was a tad bit of lack of enthusiasm on our parts. The chicken and dumplings were a bit bland and required a lot of Tabasco, salt and pepper. The greens were good and the slaw was very good. The Lady's eggs were perfect, so was the toast. The grits were good but had quickly turned cold. I put the gravy on my small biscuit. Not bad, but a bit on the bland side. This is a perfect place for those with gastric problems or cannot, or do not like spicy food. The bottom line is that it was an OK meal, though a bit bland without extra help, at a decent price, with very friendly service.
