I love to leave a great review when I can... especially when the restaurant has a lot of low reviews. I've been to many Cracker Barrels all over the south. This is the first time I've been there since all the 'controversy' . This visit was nothing but perfect. Long line / busy but seated in less than 10 min with a warm welcome and smile. Atmosphere was warm , fireplace going , ole' country charm still there. Food came out quick and was great ( I mean CBRL great ... not like this is a Michelin rated restaurant). It was just as it should be. Tried the new hash brown casserole Shepards pie. OMG... this was soooo good. Walked around the store a bit on the way out and got a nice gift for someone back home. CBRL is and always will be a staple to stop along the highway.... Or up the street in a neighborhood near you. The media would have you believe that this place is dead. It is very much alive. ... by the way, full transparency. I'm very conservative and didn't like the changes to the logo or the remodels. Glad to see things 'back to normal' read more

Cracker Barrel is basically what would happen if your grandma opened a restaurant inside a country store and said, "Y'all better sit down and eat something." Walked in and was immediately hit with the smell of biscuits, gravy, and nostalgia. The front porch had rocking chairs like it was just waiting for someone to sit down and tell stories about "the good ol' days." Inside, it's part restaurant, part gift shop, part time machine--with everything from vintage candy to socks with sassy sayings on them. The food? Comfort food central. Chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, pancakes bigger than your face--nothing fancy, but everything is warm and filling. The biscuits alone deserve their own fan club. And don't even get me started on that little triangle peg game at the table. I never win, but I respect the hustle. Service is usually friendly, even if it's a little slow when they're slammed (which they often are). But you're not there to rush--you're there to lean into the gravy-soaked slow-down. read more

If Cracker Barrel wants to improve they could bring back fresh Grapefruit juice option. Bring back original Cornbread dressings to the regular menu, make apple butter and homemade Black Raspberry jelly a staple with biscuits. Add Sausage links to the menu for breakfast. Have more low carb and all meat options. Hire back the sweet older ladies as servers, just have the boys carry the heavier platters. Make it feel again like Grandma's kitchen and less like some new era concept. The Southern nostalgia and good country food fixings was why Cracker Barrel was always such a hit! Service was great. And I've always loved the style and architecture of the place. It had been so long since I had been there, I'd forgotten how to work the puzzle... evidently, I'm an "Ig-no-ray-moose." Be that as it may, the food was noticeably better. Not every place is 5 stars and this one was a resounding 3. Plenty of parking, no line and time to browse the gift shop. That were most of the high points. Service was quick, but lacking friendliness. I actually felt they wanted us to just go away before we ordered. I ordered the Momma's Pancake Breakfast with eggs over medium, sausage and pancakes. My eggs were over easy and all were cold. The sausage had a funky taste and not a cool funkiness. The pancakes were so cold the butter didn't melt. At least the syrup was hot! So very disappointed. We eat at CB with the extended family every Christmas Eve. Adriona took great care of us, but the preparation and presentation of the food was sub-par. Our "eggs scrambled hard" weren't scrambled at all. They were basically fried eggs with the yolks broken. Our food came out 10-15 minutes after half of our party had gotten theirs. Our server was great and got all of the orders correct. I had a hamburger. The meat had a "boiled" taste and was simply unremarkable. To start with my husband and I traveled from Texas to Tennessee. We hesitantly decided to have breakfast this morning at this location after we had a previous HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE IN MEMPHIS at the Cracker Barrel there!! HAPPILY our thoughts have turned back to loving Cracker Barrel once again. This Dickson, Tennessee location is what all the others should live up to. The restaurant was CLEAN, the bathroom (ladies) was SPOTLESS, the service was PERFECT and the food (breakfast for both of us) was EXCELLENT!! We will certainly be back to THIS LOCATION!! read more

I placed an online order for curbside pick up at 8:33 pm. My order was slated to be picked up at 9:22 pm. I arrived at 9:20 and alerted them through the app that i had arrived. I waited 15 minutes then alerted them again. 8 minutes later i decided to go in to see what was going on. The girl at the counter told me there was nobody there to do curbside. So she went in back and got my food for me. I get home, and the 4 biscuits that were supposed to be in my order weren't in the bag. Then i opened my food containers and 1 piece of fried chicken from both of my plates was missing the skin. As if someone tore it off. Also, 1 of the 2 plates was supposed to have a double order of dumplins as the sides. Out of the 2 orders there was a total of 1 dumplin. The rest was just gravy, and there was no chicken at all in it. An overall bad experience. I don't think I'll be going back any time soon since this is the 3rd bad experience I've had there. Stopped in today for a to-go order. Ordered the Tips, Tenders, and Shrimp - the steak was overcooked. Shrimp has too much breading and tenders are just not good. I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans as a side and received two orders of dumplings. Wait staff never checked the order! I checked it before pulling out. Came here for a working breakfast with colleagues on weekday and fortunately we got there before it got busy, because within an hour there was a long line and a wait to dine in. Understandably every business is challenged with quality staff and service. One we've never really had issues with no matter where we've traveled is a Cracker Barrel. Here's my positives: 1) Store clean 2) Restroom clean 3) wait for our table was short and sweet 4) rep tried to assist me when I couldn't find a price for a product on sale 5) hot water for tea was perfect 6) salad was fresh 7) The other servers around our tables were hustlers. They seemed to be on top of things and efficiently turned over tables in a timely manner. Here's my critical observations and experience: 1) initial greeting from server - poor It seemed like we waited at least 10 minutes after being seated before someone showed up 2) Not sure if there was only one type of hot tea bag as I was not offered any specific flavor 3) Server came by only once within a 30 minute period to check on us, only to bring more iced tea and didn't bother to update us on our order 4) It took nearly 40 minutes for a salad and food items that likely sat for at least 15 minutes before coming to us 5) Upon bringing our food, the server not once offered any type of apology for the delay nor ask how we were doing, only asked if everything on our order seemed ok. Too hungry and short on time to notice inaccuracy and poor quality of the food. 5) When asking for our check, it took 3 staff members to look over at our table to seem to figure out who our server was to get it to us 6) At checkout we were not asked how everything was to be able to provide any immediate feedback, which was probably ok at this point since we were running behind schedule. When my husband looked at the check he noticed that the server indicated no gravy on the order which explained why there was none with his solified tepid mashed potatoes that accompanied his dry and practically burnt meatloaf. He wondered if we would have gotten our food sooner had we decided to stick to a breakfast for dinner order. As difficult as it is for me to be critical on any of my reviews this one seemed unfortunately well deserved. Overall, it appears that there needs to be some improvements in training and team effort for this location. Even when we contemplated leaving and looked over at who seemed to be monitoring the tables, no one came over to check on us or question if there was any concerns to be addressed. This was even after looking over for someone to recognize us a few times. Despite the fact we arrived in prime dinnertime on a Friday night, the restaurant did not seem anywhere as busy as the store close to where we reside. It was obviously busy since we noticed how well the other servers and tables were being managed. If we ever have to stop in this area again in the future it may be to just make a restroom stop and shop but we plan to eat elsewhere. read more

I have to say I love Cracker Barrel. I came across several on my road trip across the states. This was one of my fav locations even though the several that I stopped off at were all good. We had friendly services and good food. I love all the goodies you can choose from in the gift shop. I enjoy the old country style decor and if you are in an RV and need to rest for a few hours or even through the night you can park your RV in a marked spot. This was a great perk for me plus waking up to get some great coffee and breakfast on the road just a few feet away was the best. read more

I like cracker barrels food, but tonight we came in to do the gift shop only . It was after 9pm and a great time to come in . Christmas is coming soon and we wanted to check out their selection . As always they had plenty of cute things . We talked to really sweet cashier , she was very knowledgeable and made some good recommendations. We are from Texas and were happy to see a Cracker Barrel at our stop. So very disappointed..dining room was messy and dirty, none of the tables around us had been washed, we waited a long time for service and the food was terrible. My husband got the fish and said it was the worst fish he had ever had, very bad smelling. Both restrooms were TERRIBLE. It has definitely put us off stopping at another one. Update: Spoke with the general manager who was super understanding and offered to send us a gift card since we were passing through on vacation. He was very polite and helpful. We were in our way through time on vacation and figured this would be an easy stop that would have something for everyone. Pros: No wait Clean bathrooms Cons: The server took 20 min to get us biscuits at the table Food was cold Our waters never got refilled at all. Once she dropped them at the table that was it. When we asked the waitress about the cold food she was like well I was standing there when they put it out to go to the table so sorry bout your luck. Ordered food for curbside and it said it would be ready at 6:26. Got there at 6:30, checked in and was told it wasn't ready yet. 40min later after calling in a second time to check on the status, our food finally came out, only to have the food be cold. I would have expected if it was going to take that long past the time given to us when we ordered, that it would at least be hot and fresh. Cracker Barrel was conveniently located next door to my hotel on my Dickson, TN trip. I find this is the case with most of the Cracker Barrels chains throughout the various states. Always close to interstate ramps, gas stations and hotels. I enjoy Cracker Barrel as the menu is the same location to location, the food is consistent, the prices are affordable and the service is typically good to great. You can dine quickly or take your time and linger over coffee, iced tea or a Latte while engaging in good conversation. You have your choice of breakfast foods, served all day, lunch menu starting at 10:30a or dinner. The menu is full of comfort foods from biscuit and gravy, chicken & dumplings, fried chicken to meatloaf dinners. One of my favorites is the Grilled Spicy Catfish Filets, turnip greens, dumplings and hashbrown casserole. The Chicken Tenders, bowl of Pinto Beans with corn muffins and chow-chow or Turnip Greens are a few of my go-tos. Cracker Barrel offers Family Size meals and quarts of sides. Perfect for a quick family dinner or holiday helpers. The atmosphere is cozy with the fireplace lite during the cooler months and 4-top tables are throughout. All types of nostalgic items hang on the walls and a game on each table. The gift shop is a great place to spend waiting. Adult clothing, infant and toddler clothing, purses, cookbooks, home decor, games and toys can be found in the gift shop. Old fashioned candies and sodas are popular food items as well. The service at the Dickson location was excellent. Our server was very friendly, efficient, professional and very personable. We didn't feel rushed and she removed used dishes quickly and kept drinks refilled well after we finished lunch. I'll continue dining at Cracker Barrel when I travel and at home in Indianapolis. read more

Came for breakfast with the husband - have come here many times before as well because this is our closest Cracker Barrel. We love Cracker Barrel and always have no matter where we have lived. The service was unfortunately slow. Our waitress seemed to have too many tables to keep up with our small party. I ordered the vegetable plate. My husband ordered a plate and was brought apples for his side without being asked what he would prefer for his side. The waitress responded that she "just put down apples" because most people liked them. He was not happy about that! She only checked on us one time after that for refills. This location consistently seems understaffed and could use more help during the shift. I feel that the location is steady when it comes to traffic because it is near the interstate. Overall, I felt that the restaurant was clean and I was happy MY order was right. They just need a better look at their customer service. read more
