I ordered a Medium Rare 16oz Ribeye and it came back medium well near well done , I kept my sides and after 20 min , steak never arrived. I asked the server which was very nice and apologetic ( Justice ) to just take it off my bill since my wife had already finished her country fried steak. Arrived at 5 on Thursday, place about 1/3 capacity. Seated right away. Ordered bar drinks from server, Rolls came within 5 mins, salads about 15 mins, then food about 25 minutes after we sat down. First and foremost the food was great as always. We canceled bar drinks due to extremely long wait. For some reason the bartender can't perform her job. She either doesn't like the server, chasing full tips from bar clients, or just plain lazy and too comfortable. Management needs to figure out because at the end of the day that's a lot of loss revenue. Management apologized but it's a little too late. I came in thinking about a grilled chicken salad but then Tammy said that smoked sirloin was available and I should consider it. I was also brought 2 hot rolls and cinnamon, I thought they might be like Texas Roadhouse, soft and delicious, but these were hard like a crusty bread. While the one I had was good, just not something I would get again. The salad was probably the best thing I had while here, a good mix of greens and other vegetables. The smoked sirloin was ok, had a great crust of seasoning but was dry. The corn was soggy not roasted and crisp while the green beans tasted like they were out of a can. The steak was well cut and well prepared and the sweet potato fries were a hit; but the country fried steak was no better than a frozen one from the grocery store (although is was a large portion). The salads were average, and the dressings taste store bought -- nothing special. The baked potatoes were on the smaller side of average, but they were cooked properly. I ordered take out on a Tuesday night. I tried to use curbside but no one ever came out. I ended up going inside. It was ready and the hostess handed it to me right away. I ordered the catfish dinner with broccoli and fried okra. There were literally seven pieces of fish on this plate. I was so shocked. It was really good too. The broccoli was just ok..no seasoning or butter...just broccoli. The okra was nice and fresh with a crunch. Also, they didn't give me any plastic cutlery for my dinner. So let's set the stage for this meal: In 1996, a group of entrepreneurs and restaurateurs combined their total of over sixty years of successful restaurant and real estate experience to develop a concept that later became Colton's Steak House & Grill. Their vision was to open a steak house anyone could walk into and feel at home, have fun, relax, eat delicious food, and enjoy excellent service in an atmosphere with the feel of the "American West." So where did the name come from you ask? This is the story I love: J.T. Colton was a Texas Ranger in the late 1800's with a passion for big steaks and playing poker. J.T. was a friend, fellow lawman and gambling buddy of Sheriff Matthew Dillon. Matt owned a steakhouse and gambling hall in Dodge City, Kansas, called Dillon's Tin Star Saloon. When J.T. wasn't chasing desperados in Texas, he spent most of his time in Dodge City, playing cards at Dillon's and trying to tell Matt how to run things. Legend has it that J.T. proceeded to win the Tin Star Saloon from Matt in a four-day poker game that took place in a back room at Dillon's between J.T., Matt, a guy named Holiday and several other gamblers of questionable character. There was speculation that Matt lost on purpose because he was tired of J.T. telling him how to run his business. J.T. promptly gave up being a lawman, changed the name of Dillon's Tin Star Saloon to Colton's Steak House and Grill, and spent the rest of his days cooking up the best steaks east of the Rockies. In his later years, he returned to Texas where he opened a Colton's in his hometown of Moose River. If you sit at the bar, the service is excellent and the food is fresh and hot. Almost every time I come here I get one of two things- the smoked sirloin which is excellent IF you can get it cooked to the right temperature.
