This place is a diamond in the rough! The service was excellent, the food was so amazing, and the atmosphere was like being at home. The Food - We has the mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, broccoli salad, and the brisket. We also enjoyed the fruit tea. Every bit of the food was flavorful. I personally enjoyed the sweet potato casserole and the broccoli salad the most. I have never had two dishes taste so delicious. Don't get any bad thoughts here! The brisket was great. The two side dishes surprised me and that's why I loved them the most. Many restaurants fall short with flavor and presentation when it comes to the side dishes. Not here We have a sister that lives in McEwen. We told her about this place. She was floored that she has lived in McEwen, Tennessee for 14 years and they have never seen or heard of this place. Will not go again. Ordered sweet tea, bacon ranch pasta, squash casserole and mashed potatoes. The sweet tea must have just been made because even with ice it was still hot with no flavor. The bacon ranch pasta was spoiled but didn't know until the first bite. When I took a smell I knew for sure it wasn't for consumption. I think someone must have tumped over the garlic seasoning and it landed in the squash casserole which made it not edible. Ross from Friends would have loved the mashed potatoes but Monica would have been appalled at the lumps. I was excited to at least get the peach cobbler for dessert because I didn't think you could possibly mess that up. Wrong! So I had to have something on my tummy so ended up at Sonic with ice cream. read more

What a find...what a find. This place has a set menu on Sunday for lunch three options for your main course several options for your sides and several dessert option for 11.95 ea person. Yes i said 11.94!! Everything tasted great. I had the meatloaf which melted in my mouth like butter. My three sides we're black eye peas sauteed in bacon and onions. Let's be honest I had you at Bacon. Cream corn and mashed potatoes. Again all great. Now the cherry on top is the service. Wonderful polite service. Black berry cobbler. Oh #@!!# this stuff is good. Decent restaurant that I found searching Google for vegetarian options! The restaurant appears to have been converted from an old home. The server, Kate, was very attentive and recommended the lintels over rice with mixed vegetables, which was very tasty (I slightly seasoned the meal with some salt and pepper). Afterwards, I treated myself to the blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream (can't go wrong with this classic dessert, right? Lol)! Second time this week for lunch. I am visiting from Florida & this place is always a go to place for lunch. First visit my mom & I split the chicken Panini. We both got cranberry salad & chips. Everything was delicious. They always bring out bread, small slices of fried cornbread & rolls. The rolls I remember being much sweeter & this visit I was disappointed. Bring back the old recipe before changing ownership!! The second visit I opted for their hot chicken casserole. Did not disappoint. Tasty homecooked meal in a home What a unique setting to enjoy a meal! These folks have taken a former home and converted it into a place to showcase great food. My wife and I were passing through Dickson and wanted something, how shall I say it, to "break the chain" - (or, not McDonald's). Well, this place does that. You walk in and can tell this used to be someone's home - which makes you feel at home right away. My wife and I both decided to try the Grilled Chicken Salad because the ingredients seemed inviting and healthy. I totally enjoyed my salad and was full enough until dinner. The grilled chicken was tender and moist, the spinach and other greens mixed with the avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers, bacon and cheese to provide many satisfying mouthfuls. They also have Daily Specials, and we almost went with the Rosemary and Garlic Pork Loin with Sweet Potato casserole, Lima beans and Black-eyed Peas. The food was good, the staff was quite pleasant, and the setting of the restaurant made for a different - and tasty - eating experience. I have gone to the Front Porch for years and always enjoy it. The founder sold the business to a former chef some months ago and I feared that food quality would suffer. That hasn't happened, but some new items have been added to the menu. Many of the long-time waitresses are still there as well. I generally have the Blue Plate Special, but you have to be there pretty early to insure that you have the full selection. Today, for example, the twice-baked potato was gone by 12:30. It's a good place for lunch in Dickson and is always full of locals and folks who come to town to browse the antique shops on Main Street. read more

This place is a must for any local or anyone visiting. My husband and I went for the first time this past Sunday. This is one of the only restaurants in Downtown Dickson that is open on Sunday, so that is important for others to know as well if you like to support local businesses. There was only one menu with three different meat choices, about 9 different vegetables, and two dessert options. It cost around $12 for the "meat & three, and dessert". That is extremely reasonable and the portions were generous. I am a vegetarian and our waitress allowed me to choose four vegetables with dessert as a substitute. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. read more

I love the Front Porch. Jamie, the owner takes pride in every dish that goes out her door. If somethings not correct she will make sure that it doesn't happen again. And if you haven't tried her take home for dinner menu, your missing out. It changes daily and she always tries to have just the right thing for your family. How could you go wrong, it's all homemade. She has stayed open during this unfortunate time that our country is going through. We were very disappointed. We looked at the menu online and it showed a variety of sandwiches and wraps that looked delicious. On Sundays, however they have a meat and three as their only option. Despite getting there at 1 ( they are open from 11-2) we were chastised for being "late" as they were out of several options for their meat and 3. We ordered a fruit tea and water, but she kept insisting my husband wanted tea. My husband does not like tea and is diabetic so he wouldn't drink a sugary drink unless his blood sugar was low. The waitress brought him tea anyway. I started to order from the 8x11 paper that it was printed on but she held up her hand to tell me most of what I asked for was gone. She left to go see what they had left and gave us a list... then halfway through my husband ordering changed her answer on what was or was not available. Eventually we gave her our order and she brought us rolls that were frozen. Sister Schubert rolls are usually a favorite but she grabbed them back after realizing they were cold, took them in the kitchen to microwave them. They tasted as if they'd been in and out of the freezer multiple days. When our food finally came, it was not very good. My coleslaw was tasty but everything else was a big disappointment as was the fact that they used styrofoam plates and plastic utensils on a $14/person. I tried the chicken supreme that was bland and tasteless, broccoli rice casserole that was very vinegary and my husband's entree and sides were equally bad. The final insult came when after eating and waiting for our waitress to bring the check, the hostess came in and asked if we were still waiting for something as if we just sat to annoy her and keep her from leaving after her grueling 3 hour shift. Indeed we were waiting for our desserts that were part of the meal. I had a cobbler that was fair and my husband had their buttermilk pie that was delicious and I believe brought in from somewhere else. We went up to the register and asked her to get our waitress for our check since she had not brought it and clearly the hostess wished our departure. I will not go back and nor can I recommend this place. They have a long way to go to be considered southern charm or hospitality. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE little local restaurants and the Front Porch was the perfect local restaurant. I am so lucky my work travels took me to Dickson and someone had the good sense to take me here! So it is an old renovated house and when you walk in it looks like a house with tables set up in each of the "rooms". The decor looks like a grandma's house. Light yellow walls with white moulding made everything seem bright and happy. The tablecloths were in bright colors and the chairs matched. Everything was just so happy feeling! Then I looked at the menu and felt even more happy. They have sandwiches, salads, and the blue plate special or veggie plate. Specials are listed on chalkboards at the front door and in the dining room so you can see them as you try to choose from all the offerings. I ended up getting the hot chicken casserole with purple hull peas - it also comes with cranberry "salad" - like jello basically. The casserole was full of chicken and was creamy and topped with breadcrumbs. I also noticed something crunchy in there that seemed to be those water chestnuts I used to love in those La Choy Asian meals? Anyway, it was comfort food at its best. They also bring out a bread basket with cornbread but also these yeast rolls that are topped with a sugary topping. It was almost like a dessert but OH MY GAAAWD they were addictive. Everything else on the menu looked awesome too and I hear it is THE place to be on Sundays after church in Dickson so get there early! You pay at the counter when you get done and that is when your eyes will take you to the cooler where their meringue pies are - coconut and chocolate. The meringue is a mile high - how DO they get it to stay up that high? Anyway, I was too stuffed to try the pie but it looked like something that would be worth skipping dinner for....dessert for dinner! I was in the area and really wanted something southern and tasty. This place was a disappointment. It was cold that day and I was sat right in the front porch area by the door even though there were several seats available in the actual restaurant. I asked to be sat in the back and was told no because there was only 2 in my party. However, there were several other parties of 2 seated in the heated area of the restaurant. The service was terrible. The waitress did several rude things too many to mention. We ordered the hamburger sliders which were so tough and over cooked, it was almost inedible. The chili was cold in sections and bland. The grilled cheese was completely burned on one side and flipped so I couldn't see it but i could taste it. It was completely black. There was no way they didn't see it. The cornbread bought to the table at the beginning of the meal was the only thing good about this place and when I asked for more, I was told they didn't have any at the time.... We had a business meeting in Dickson today and wanted a good lunch after. We came across Front Porch and absolutely 100% LOVED it!!!! The staff was wonderful and very helpful!!! My friend and I each got the same thing (which was good because I would've been jealous!)....we had the fruit tea (iced tea, orange juice and pineapple juice), the pork special with chipotle mac & cheese and sweet potato casserole. EVERY SINGLE BITE (& SIP) WAS DELICIOUS!!!! We travel a lot for work and try to find cute, fun, local spots and this is by far one of the best we've been to!! We live in Clarksville, where there are very few local places, so it was great to find a small, local spot for lunch!! We will definitely be back when we are in Dickson again for business!! Wish we lived closer to visit more often!! read more

I have only been once but this is a favorite place for many in the Dickson area. I must say, I didn't go in thinking I would like it as much as I did. Great old house, several different seating decors depending on the room you sit in and the staff is way friendly and helpful. As a "newbie" I was not sure if I was not dressed up enough for the business lunch or ladies' club crowd. I am happy to say that everyone there is welcomed and treated equally. I had a chicken casserole that turned out to be amazingly delicious. They have quite a few choices and are considered an upscale "meat and three" but I saw quite a variety of menu options and the food on the plates of those seated around me looked awesome. I had a hard time making a decision! The wait staff was helpful, friendly and very patient. They check on you often without being annoying. The decor is quaint and old fashioned done in a chic way. It smells like coming home when you walk in the door. It isn't too terribly expensive. It is certainly worth what you pay for your meal in both taste and quantity. I am glad I finally got to try it and definitely would love to go back. My husband loved it too and was not put off by the somewhat feminine decor... sort of like visiting grandmother but with somewhat eclectic style. Great local restaurant! I was so happy to find a non-chain place to get lunch. The place was packed when I got there (always a good sign). They had a list of specials on a chalkboard and I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup off of it. Perfect for a cold day. Both were very good! The soup had a great taste. It came with a piece of corn bread and a roll with, maybe, maple sugar on top- something like that. It was sooo good- like a dessert! I come to Dickson for work every once in awhile and I will definitely be stopping here again. read more
