I've eaten at The Log Cabin twice in the past two nights, and both experiences were fantastic. The first night, I had the fried chicken, and it was excellent. The breading was perfectly crunchy, the chicken was juicy, and the sides were great... especially the baked beans, which were a standout. The second night, I went with the patty melt and fries. Both were delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the fries were crispy and flavorful. I usually have stomach issues when I eat patty melts, but I had no problems at all here, which says a lot about the quality of the food. On top of that, the staff was outstanding. We came in with a very large party, and they handled everything smoothly and professionally without missing a beat. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Right down the road from the KOA, stopped in this evening w best friend, Creamed Corn. Log Cabin Restaurant is a very rustic building, 100 yrs old. CC says the mounted deer head was a 16 pointer, but I think he was seeing double, so let's call it 8. We split a basket of fried mushrooms, Mannion's of Yonkers worthy. Delicious, and came w horseradish sauce!!!. CC then had pork loin w baked and green beans. He rated his meal a solid 5. My cheeseburger was advertised as eight ounces. It probably was, but was a patty w an unsubstantiated fall-apart bun. A bit undercooked as well. For me, the CB rated a 2.5. Our server, Maize, excellent. Overall, the fried mushrooms lifted the overall score to 4. For this area, TLC is very good, and draws a decent crowd. read more

Stopped in for lunch and so glad we did. Great southern menu. One n m party had beef liver and onions and found it to be excellent. I had the Fried Chicken salad and it was huge and very good. It had a great mix of lettuces, boiled eggs, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and perfectly tender fried chicken cutlet on top. Forgot to get pictures before eating. Service was fast and friendly. Another out of the blue Yelp bookmark coming in for the road trip lunch win! On the a trip down I-40, this place is strategically located near nowhere. It's in the most perfect place it possibly be though, where I needed them, 15 minutes up the road. Anywho, it was easy to park, get in, get a table, and have a pleasurable lunch. We even picked up goodies to-go for later. It's an old log cabin, but is really well kept, clean as a whistle, and looks brand new inside. Some strange architectural and decor choices, but it's cool. Server was as sweet as she could be, everyone was.... An old couple even brought one of the cooks a gift for graduation or something while we were there. Awe! Super sweet exchange. Our food was really good. I had chicken livers and some veggies. Tasted great and was exactly what I wanted. Jalapeño Cornbread Muffins were a let down. The rest of my good food as hell!!! Traveling from Memphis to Nashville (3-hr drive) and stopped at 'the Log Cabin' for lunch. I had researched this place before the trip and learned they served fried chicken livers. The restaurant is a true Log Cabin and our visit was excellent. It's hard to find a restaurant that serves chicken livers. Seems like a lost food item. My grandfather loved fried chicken livers and I grew up eating them with him. To me, this one food is a fond memory to my grandfather and it makes me happy when I find a restaurant that has them. The chicken livers at the The Log Cabin are FANTASTIC!!! Note: yes, Cracker Barrel serves fried chicken livers... and I've had them up and down the eastern coast but they are always over fried, tasteless, and make great table rocks. read more

We stopped here on our way home. This place has a very homey feel to it and the staff was just so sweet. It was a little chilly where we were sitting. The first meal ordered was the 10 oz ribey steak medium that came with buttered toast, corn bread muffin and the sides chosen were green beans and cabbage. The steak was cooked amazing, the color inside it was absolute perfection. The taste was more of a rustic way with no seasonings added to it. I added salt and pepper just for my preference. The toast was delicious. The corn bread muffin was good texture wise, my preference is just sweet corn bread. Now the green beans, my mouth waters just thinking about them. They remind me of my grandma's and how the flavor just lingers in your mouth. I would eat a big order of these by itself. The cabbage was cooked great. I just didn't enjoy the red pepper flakes in it. The second meal ordered was the pork chops with Mexican corn bread muffin, fried okra and mashed potatoes with gravy. So let me just tell you, the pork chops were literally finger lickin good. When you cut through them it's like cutting through butter and the flavor was perfection. The Mexican corn bread muffin was very good but if you order this be ready for a little kick with it. The okra was absolutely fantastic with the perfect crunch and the okra inside wasn't mushy. The mashed potatoes and gravy made me feel like I was at home eating with my family. Desert we ordered the peanut butter eclair brownie. One a road trip from Cincinnati to Memphis, we'd heard that the 200-mile-plus I-40 drive from Nashville to Memphis was a drab slog with few dining options indeed. Lunchtime had us about an hour outside Nashville. Billboards for Loretta Lynn's Kitchen had me interested, because you gotta love Loretta Lynn. (Actually, you don't, but I do.) But the wife reported that the Yelp reviews were horrible, and, of course, almost everything is overrated on Yelp to begin with. But the Log Cabin, at the same interstate exit, had Yelp raves. As a native Southerner, I've been to my fair share of down-home and meat-and-three restaurants across the South, and truth be told, some of them really aren't too good. But we were hungry hours after an execrable hotel free breakfast and running out of choices. Inside, the Log Cabin was spic-and-span, with a bit of an indie Cracker Barrel vibe. But given that we were out here in the middle of nowhere in central-west Tennessee in modest surroundings, the prices were kind of mind-blowing: sixteen dollars for a fried-chicken plate, for example. Wow. But that fried chicken, though! I try to avoid superlatives in Yelp reviews, but this was right up there with the best fried chicken I've ever had. Hell, maybe just the flat-out best, because I can't specifically remember any that was better. Near-perfect crispy and flavorful batter (maybe just a hair too salty?), piping hot, deeply flavorful and tender meat (not sure what kind of buttermilk or brining prep they're doing, but the kitchen is killing), and not too much grease. Also: this was a big portion. No scrawny bird here. Sides were superb, too. Turnip greens and white beans were top-rate; the big flavor was there, too. The wife got a veggie plate and agreed with the assessment about the sides and veggies. My brother-in-law, who is developmentally disabled and not a fan of Southern food (even though his family is 100% Southern), thought his burger and fries were the best meal of the five-day trip. They looked pretty great. Service was a bit slow, but the quality of the food made it worthwhile. That said, if you're looking for a quick interstate stop-in, this isn't it. read more

Cute little restaurant off I40 that we wanted to try rather than fast food. The restaurant is cute, service was excellent but the food left a lot to be desired. One order was fried chicken - it was so salty that it was basically inedible. The other was catfish- the catfish was ok- but the slaw was incredibly sweet and the white beans had some funky flavor. This place is great! It's a very sentimental restaurant for us as we would eat here everyday during the Loretta Lynn MX Championship when our daughter was competing. Service is fantastic, food is great and consistent and no matter how slammed they are-everyone welcomes you. We didn't get to Tennessee this last summer and my husband's Log Cabin mug we bought him to remember our last trip was ruined. For Christmas, I called them up and asked if it is was possible to order another cup and Pilsner glass and ship it to Vegas as a Christmas gift which likely isn't a common request. Brian the manager went above and beyond to accommodate and it arrived in time for the holiday. He went out of his way to find a post office, package it up with a note and ship it-I noticed he even came out of pocket a couple of dollars for the shipping because it was more than I paid which was SO kind. Needless the say when my husband opened it Christmas morning, he suddenly had "allergies" . This place holds so many sentimental memories for us as a family and with our daughter and Brian made our holiday extra special. Thank you!! read more

Found this place on the map while driving by. It felt southern, very homey. Got shrimp alfredo and fried green tomatoes. The pasta was good, but the fried green tomatoes were extremely salty. I was peeling the fried skin off by the end. The pies were very good - cherry pie and buttermilk, the latter of which I had never had before but was pleasantly surprised by.
