I've been dining here for years, this is my first review. Rochelle's is awesome in all aspects. The staff are always amazing, so courteous, service is great, always striving to ensure that your dining experience meets your satisfaction. I've eaten just about everything on the menu, cannot single out one meal over another as they are all so delicious. The dining experience... They offer inside and outside dining, call in, and take out service. The owner is always present and takes the time to visit with all customers whether dining in or taking out. To sum up my dining experiences, Rochelle's is awesome. One note of importance is... Cash or Check Only, no credit cards. read more

I like getting off the "beaten path" and Rochelle's feels like it with the added benefit to travelers on a tight schedule that it's only a minute off the Highway into Memphis. Nevertheless, I must admit I'm having a hard time with this review. I'm about as torn about my experience with this popular BBQ shack as I am torn up with the current depressing and dangerously divided political state of our country. I really want to love this place as much as the other reviews, but it was not as pleasant an experience for me personally. For starters, a big sign out front touts the patriotic slogan "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" which I find now a painfully ironic and depressing bit of nostalgia given the political climate. This sign previewed that I was about to walk into a place in which I was out-gunned, quite literally. Inside Rochelle's was a dizzying array of signs that were both humorous country lore, old tyme wit and downright sinister conservative drivel (depending on your personal views and politics). I'll just say that the many, many tongue in cheek threats of gun-toting "patriots" didn't make for the best culinary experience for me. This coming from a guy who actually likes shooting. But I'm not a snowflake and know I'm in the rural south and the guys with guns on their hips outnumber itinerant Yankee family entertainers like me. So let's forget the politics and get on to the food. The staff greeted me very warmly and were affable and attentive. The menu has all the fixings you would want in a Tennessee BBQ and I settled on my usual combo plate: ribs and brisket. I'm a BBQ nut and I must say, contrary to most reviews, I've had better BBQ. The bones were a bit flaccid. The rub was uninspiring. And though the brisket was quite tender and generously cut, it was limp without a char and the meat was flavorless. The vinegar-based slaw was tasty; minced and tangy. The beans were fine. The bun was a spongy white blob (I wish I knew they had cornbread!!) and the sweet tea was refilled by my nice waitress. The sauces are excellent here and almost worth the trip alone, and the general warmth and feel of the place helped what I thought was good BBQ, not great or excellent, go down well. Still and all- don't miss the chance to stop at Rochelle's if you are passing through. Just try to look the other way at all the implications of a violent showdown over the 2nd Amendment as decor (and please don't dare to trespass). read more

Rochelle's Bar None BBQ - Sign - Barbeque Near Me - Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

We stopped here for lunch on our drive from Nashville to Memphis. It was such a great spot to stop. Wasn't far off the main highway and the food was so good. It's family owned and a place where the locals eat. I loved all the signs around the restaurant and it's southern hospitality. We had the brisket sandwich and the ribs and the ribs come with 2 large sides. It was plenty of food for the 3 of us. Really enjoyed eating here. It was a great way to start our vacation. read more

This is an interesting BBQ spot located right across the way a bit from Loretta Lynn's Kitchen and it was a really rough decision to have to choose between the two but team BBQ won like is usually does for me. This is a VERY popular spot in the area and I got the last available seat as they were packed to the gills in here when I stopped in. As usual I went with my BBQ brisket order and I was served some nicely tender brisket that tasted much better than it looked; then there was another choice of vinegar or mayo cole slaw and I always go with team vinegar on that and WOW... it was super strong in the vinegar taste unlike any other I had sampled (until soon after I had a similar slaw at Barrel House BBQ in Lynchberg so it must be the way it is made around these parts). They offer a mild and hot BBQ sauce which both offered good flavors. For the less pleasing aspects of this establishment I was rather discouraged they had no lemon for my iced tea, the potato salad was certainly not one of my favorites and then for payment they only take cash or check. Overall this is an interesting joint to visit and the food is decent so check it out. read more

Waitress was sweet, and kept our drinks full. Food was delicious. The signs on the wall made us laugh. Ive lived in the area all my life, this was the first time I've been there. I think they would have more business with a bit more advertising and a bigger social media presence. But, they won me over, we will definitely be back. read more

This place was the perfect spot. Easy to find off the 1-40 , and since we were stopping at the KOA camp close by we ordered takeout. After a long day of driving, the sandwiches hit the spot. I called ahead and ordered, and the woman who answered sounded busy but was friendly and took my order, food was ready when she quoted. Place was packed for Friday evening. Cash only. read more

Great food and friendly service!! Their sweet tea is perfect too. They were out of brisket ...

DOUBLE TO HIT FOR THE CYCLE! Stay away from this place my friend. You don't want any part of it...aw shoot. Who am I kidding? This place is a hidden gem my friend. A hole in the wall you might drive by and never see it. Great atmosphere; down home friendly service; clean restaurant; and family-owned and operated. Stopped in here while traveling back to Memphis. I had to try it because it's a bbq joint and man was it $$$. I had the smoked chicken, green beans, and baked potato. Ewwwee it was good. The chicken was tender and cooked just right; the beans were well-flavored; and the potato was hot and soft (couldn't ask for a better one). The owner brought out a slice of brisket for me to try and it melted in my mouth. I'm not a big brisket fan, but this was REAL GOOD. The prices are very reasonable and they give you a mess of food. Great value and a great experience. I can't wait to come back. read more

It was decent. My standard is Memphis bbq so it's hard to match up to that , but this place isn't terrible. Its edible.

I like to eat at locally-owned restaurants, especially when I travel. On my way through Tennessee, I searched for BBQ places and saw Rochelle's on Google Maps. The ratings were high, so I traveled another 40 miles and I'm certainly glad I did. I got a 2 meat plate with ribs and brisket. Wow! It's damn good Bar-B-Que. The brisket and ribs were super tender. They tasted so good, I'm going to miss this place. Finger-lick'n good. The staff made me feel very welcome. They welcome you when you arrive and say a friendly goodbye after you're done eating. This is obviously a local favorite. Tina was my server and patiently read off the list of 9 cobblers several times for me. Her Tennessee accent and friendly attitude wee as sweet as the blueberry cobbler. I've never been anywhere that had so many choices of cobbler. Did I mention the blueberry was awesome? Eddy was very attentive to all of the customers the entire time I was there. This might have been the best BBQ experience I had in my life. Thank you! read more

From I-40 we took TN-13 to Loretta Lynn's Ranch (and didn't notice Rochelle's BBQ.) On the way back to I-40 I noticed a sign with a catfish so we pulled over and I did a quick Yelp review search. When I saw it received 4.5 stars I said 'we gotta go!' The catfish coating was light and the fish was flavorful. The ribs were 'fall of the bone.' And the hush puppies were so 'southern.' GO! read more

Wish they opened more often food is great! Best fish in the area. Always welcomed by the owner and great service.

We stopped in on Friday with a group of seven. We found two tables in the back and pulled them together so we could visit. The ambience was friendly, laid back, snd humorous. Ownership was friendly. The server took our orders and the meals came out in an efficient way. Drinks were continuously refilled before, during, and after the meal. We stayed about two hours and we were never rushed. Food was fresh and tasty. Good size helpings. We will go back. read more

I feel really bad. I don't want to leave 2 stars. But, it was eh, I've had better. Much better. The service was OK, the price is what you'd expect for bbq. We ordered our usual: ribs, brisket, pulled pork sandwich. We got Mac n cheese, vinegar cole slaw and baked beans for the sides. The meat was flavorless. Seriously. It was cooked just the way I like it. No knives needed here. It's so tender. But flavorless. All of the meat. I wasn't impressed with the bbq sauces. Too vinegary rather than the sweet, thicker bbq I prefer. The Mac n cheese was good. The baked beans were not. I looooove baked beans. It tasted like Campbell's from a can with some chopped raw onion in it. Yuck. The cole slaw looked like it was from a week ago. Despite its sad appearance, I did give it a try "just in case". Nope! It was yucky. My husband, who doesn't Yelp, enjoyed it more than me. read more

CASH ONLY. Closed on Sundays + Mondays. Most tender + lean Pulled Pork and delicious Ribs, Sandwiches and plates. Your usual suspects of sides. Yummy sauces too. Truly a gem of a BBQ joint. They also serve Fried Catfish, which is fresh and cooked very nicely. The owners and the staff work hard to make you feel at home. "This is the best bbq I have ever had," said my wife. We almost settled for a fast food place right next door until I saw the Yelp review. I'll add my 5 Stars! The Brisket was melt in your mouth tender! The owner said he cooks it 13 hours. The catfish was solid, the smoked sausage excellent. The hushpuppies, also the best my wife has had. My in laws said they are stopping here every time they drive to see the grandkids. I encourage you to stop too! Oh, and as friendly service as you will find! read more

Food: Ribs are amazing, best ribs that I have ever tasted! Chicken was well seasoned but nothing special. If I would have know how good the ribs were I would have got a rib plate instead. Potatoe salad and mac n cheese were decent; however, they both had that straight "out of a bag/box" taste but they were palatable. Sweet tea was very good. It was very sweet but nothing to over baring and free refills on tea which is always a plus. Ambiance: staff was very friendly and very accommodating. Restaurant is clean and well maintained but very small. Many locals seem to gather here often thus it was very packed. Indoor and outdoor seating avaliable. Located next door to the pilot trust stop. MUST PAY WITH CASH OR CHECK!!!!!!! No exceptions. read more

"An ounce of sauce covers a multitude of sins." ~Anthony Bourdain Don't let my negative review stop you from trying this place. I got take-out, but watching the full restaurant at closing time the locals obviously love the place. My service was prompt and friendly. If you don't know any better, it may be the best bbq you ever have. I drive tractor trailer so I've had bbq from Michigan to Texas. The kindest thing I can say is it was disappointing. Now for the facts. The beef brisket may well have been boiled, not smoked. As you see in the photo it looks (and tastes) like nothing. The pork is no better. It's tender and tasteless. I asked for ends (sometimes called bark) and got bland, boring meat on both. I'd bet money that the smoker out back is just for decoration. I always ask for no sauce so I can judge the meat accurately, and this meat was found sorely wanting. Just completely tasteless. The Mac & cheese was ok, but nothing special. The pickle chips are rather good. The peach and strawberry cobbler were meh. Now here's the odd part. I dislike 85% of the bbq sauce I taste. This place has sauce that's in the top 5% category of sauces I really like. It's really quite good. Were it not for the sauce I'd give one star and ask for my money back. ...and I almost never return food. I am, after all, a truck driver. read more

If you are within a 50 mile radius this is a must stop and eat. From what we could tell, the majority of patrons were local and everyone seemed to know one another. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful in offering suggestions, and extremely positive in their own assessment of the food. There is alot of insightful signage for decor to keep you entertained while you wait, and the staff will stop in randomly to chitchat and see how things are going. The food was so satisfying that we ordered another entire meal to go. read more

My husband and I were in Hurricane Mills for the night, and we just walked from our motel for the nearest place to eat, and that happened to be Rochelle's. It was a Friday evening so the place was packed and there was a line for the take out orders. The owners were unfailingly nice to everyone who was in there. Both my husband and I had spent many years in Texas, so we are sort of bbq snobs, especially with brisket. To our surprise, the brisket was better, tham almost anything we had eaten during our Texas years; I have never eaten brisket that was this temder - it just melted in my mouth. The owners, a husband and wife, cook all the food themselves and they run a farm. Someone on yelp wrote that Rochelle's is a hidden jewel - I heartily concur. read more

There's a reason all the locals are here. You won't be disappointed and don't skip desert. I could drink the BBQ sauce! Great great food

What a yummy joint right off the highway. We decided to forgo McDonald's, Arby's and Subway and take a chance at this barbecue and catfish café. The portions are good, the pricing great, and there's a warm friendly feel from the staff. Just can't say enough good thing about this place. The fried fish is to die for. The BBQ WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. I have moved away from this town around 40 years ago but get back to visit family at least 3-4 times a year and it always feels like home when we get to eat here. It is very disheartening to read a couple post calling Mr Eddie and his team raciest! I have known this man to be a hard working colorblind businessman for over 30 years. Just amazing how someone from the other side of the country having a bad day tries to give a salt of the earth businessman a black eye. We're a band, on our way to Memphis from Nashville. BBQ was the right call, when we found Rochelle's, today. We sampled the pork, brisket, ribs, sausage, mac & cheese, along with several other sides. Everything was clearly amazing, as our 7 seat section of professional noise making rowdies quieted to only the sounds of smacking lips, and the open exchange of delicious, smoky treats and sides. The standouts, for me, were the mac & cheese and the smoked sausages. We will be back, for sure. The photo below, is my brisket sandwich, and the vinegar slaw. -J read more

Rochelle's Bar None BBQ - Just falls off the bone.... yummy - Barbeque Near Me - Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

I ate here with my four minions and wife as we were traveling home on vacation. This is perhaps the best bar-b-q that I've had in all my travels. I abhor coleslaw, but quite enjoyed their rendition of that side dish. The pulled pork was as moist as it was delectable. The ribs are the best I've had yet! (Except for my wife's that is.) The potato salad was too delicious for words to adequately describe. The sauces are appropriately served on the side instead of having your dish swimming in it. Both the mild and hot sauces had excellent flavors. All of us (including the two children who are notoriously picky) enjoyed very bite of our meals. There are only two things that would make this place a better restaurant, and that is 1) to be closer to me so I could eat there more often, 2) more heat in the hotter of the sauces. Perhaps they have a spicier sauce that's off menu and available to those who request it. If I should ever find myself in Tennessee again, I will make it a point to eat at this establishment again! read more
