Updated review from 11/01/25. Yesterday my party of three stopped in for lunch. We've been multiple times before. After we placed our order, we started to notice several other tables hadn't been served their food yet. I watched one party of two walk out because they sat there without menus or drinks or even being acknowledged for probably 20 minutes. Another table that we talked to had waited over an hour for their food. They walked out when their food arrived without eating or paying. It had been over an hour and 15 minutes at least and we checked on the status of our food and were told it would come right out. The waitress was supposed to bring additional silverware which she never did and we had to go up to get it since it was never brought. Our drinks were empty and someone from our group walked up to fill the drinks at the open soda machine and was rudely told they would fill it. The chef or possibly owner and waitress stood around talking complaining and took additional time to even refill our drinks. Another table had to walk up and ask for napkins and we're told to go back and they would be brought to them. They never acknowledged the wait or apologized. Incredibly rude. Sad because the food was great but we will never return. I know they were upset people were walking out but customer service matters and shouldn't be taken out on those that were there. A must stop for anyone seeking a delicious meal and authentic experience. I've eaten in thousands of restaurants all over Tennessee and kept hearing other locals in Nashville talk about how incredible it was encouraging me to go . So when my cousin from up north came down, we decided to give it a try. I wanted to show her why I love this area and Nashville is so busy and congested now that I had to find a place she could truly experience the best TN has to offer without the rush and stress of people everywhere. So we headed to The Mason Jar Restaurant in Centerville giving us a beautiful drive to see if the people raving about it were right! She had the chicken Philly, which is a unique southern inspired version on Texas toast and it was killer! I've never seen her finish anything but her plate was clean and I was so grateful the experience lived up to the hype! I ordered the veggie burger which is a chipotle black bean burger on a brioche bun and I couldn't get enough!!! So much so, I ordered one to go and ate it for lunch the next day! This restaurant has the unique charm that is so rare these days where everything seems like a chain or big corporation copy elsewhere. When you dine at MJR you can expect a welcoming environment and incredible service making you feel like part of the family. A gem that is a priceless experience you can only get in the south outside the noise of Nashville. Would recommend it to anyone seeking locally owned charm meets the savory yummy goodness of a clearly well thought out mixture of options this menu has to offer. Head on down as soon as you can as this is one of few places everyone enjoys thankfully living up to its incredible hard earned reputation! The MASON JAR was not where we were intending to eat but now I am glad the other place was closed today. Service and food and atmosphere was phenomenal. I ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT - it was delicious. But better than that - I asked the server her favorite side and said Onion Rings. Wow - she did not lie. The Mason Jars Onion Rings are the best I have ever had anywhere and it is not close. Crispy breading and firm onions - they were just great. My friend ordered the Fried Chicken Salad and was similarly impressed. All in all everything about this place deserves the highest rating. read more
