Bad: This evening my husband and I decided to purchase food from cookout and the elderly lady (mostly Grey hair and aged) had a crappy attitude! Her reason? Maybe because i had her repeat herself but that's not an excuse in CUSTOMER SERVICE. Suggestion: to avoid miscommunication and/or employees having to repeat themselves, get a better speaker or fix the speaker you have and Have someone who's not rude. Whoever the manager was who was a man at 10pm on may 8th, is a total dickhead. I asked 3 questions about the menu because my child wanted a burger and a grilled cheese, and the man stated over and over again "How about you just look at the menu and decide". And so I asked him if I could speak with someone who was not going to interrupt me, and he said "how about you just decide already, and use your eyes to look at the menu" the lady on the mic initially was super nice, and then man was a total prick. We had barbecue pork & a junior cheeseburger trays. They came with slaw & fries. The pork also came with hush puppies. The hush puppies were crispy outside & soft inside & were really good. The pork was well-seasoned & moist. The cheeseburger was very good, & the slaw was chopped cabbage with a just-right sweet dressing. Service was excellent, & the line moves quickly. I drove through around 10pm. There were a couple of cars ahead of me. (So not dead, nor closing) The menu is huge and the prices are really reasonable. A lot of options. I'm in from Arizona visiting and had heard good things so i was excited to try it. But. My order was wrong. Though the burger tasted good, it had weird fake cheese sauce that was kinda gross and a pitiful amount of bacon. Supposed to have grilled onions but they were M.I.A. My mom's burger though...was the most dried up charred hockey puck I've ever seen! It was unbelievable. Love cookout!! You can take your family out to eat for a reasonable amount of money, and it's REAL FOOD! Not garbage! Love to get the Cajun grilled chicken sandwich. We ordered food to go and it was just terrible. Had we eaten in, I would have taken the food back and asked for a refund. The regular-sized Cheddar Burger consists of a tiny, overcooked patty (too small for the bun), and onions and fake cheese sauce all over the place. The cheese fries come in a hotdog to-go container, with barely any of the fake cheese sauce (which actually wound up being a positive, since the cheese is less than stellar). People in line ahead of us were already complaining about the wait, and we were no different. I have not been to this place in a loooooong time because my mother had a terrible experience - mom asked for no mayonnaise, but had it anyway. The Cook Out employee seriously just scaped it off and handed the same burger back to my mother. I figured I would give it another try after a few years. Terrible mistake. I will not be back. When we pulled in, the drive-thru line was long, but their service was on the ball and the wait was actually quite short considering how many people they served. The order was correct. The prices were reasonable. The food was delicious. Cheddar Style with mustard, fries and a caramel fudge sundae, all excellent. They obviously hand make their beef patties, so the burger to bun ratio may not be perfect, but it tastes good enough that it doesn't matter too much. Fries are hand cut and seasoned well but not too much. The bacon was crisp and cooked exactly done enough. Even the grilled onions were perfectly done. I'm so disappointed in the cook out. I've been seriously sick. Almost died two weeks ago from my bronchial tubes closing up. I'm getting better but the medicine has me craving beef. So I ask my ex to go to the cookout because they have amazing burgers. I ask for a double cheeseburger dressed. Through the garden. My ex ordered him one but just with tomatoes ketchup. It was 1:56 in the morning. I waited forever to get that burger. From 9:00 last night until 2:00 when my ex brought it. I'm still very sick and can't get out just yet. So when he brought it I opened it like I hadn't eaten in forever. It was just two patties with ketchup and mayo. Both of them. My ex was going to get back out and exchange it which he shouldn't have after working 13 hours. So I tried to call over half a hour non stop. No answer. Then I've tried to call alll day today and still no answer. It got me furious. They need to learn to answer their phone. And that late at night, early in the morning if they mess up they should have to redo it deliver it and give a complimentary dinner for the upset and disappointment of not getting that delicious burger I've had b4. I can't help myself... I love this place. Their burgers are awesome and their grilled chicken is simply terrific. They have that real chargrilled flavor, not just "flavoring". Their Dickson location and decor is warm, friendly, clean and inviting. The store was rebuilt in the old LJS fish restaurant location which made me wonder at first because the traffic and the old drive up window access was difficult. But they seemed to have fixed the layout issue and the traffic is worth pulling in for. They have so many choices there that I agree with one reviewer's suggestion to check out their menu online for your first time. If they aren't busy, no problem. But if they are busy, it is hard to stand their and read through everything without holding up the line. And, trust me, hungry people at fast food places aren't fun and friendly folk! As for me, I rarely eat beef, I am not a fast food or burger type person and I almost never do drive up windows. However, that being said, the burgers at the Cook Outs (I've been to a couple separate ones) are cooked better than I can grill at home. They are a bit inconsistent depending on who is cooking or which restaurant you are at but I think they are better than any burger I have had at other similar restaurants, especially for the price and time of wait. They are fast and there is a ridiculous amount of choices on the menu and I have found the staff to be very nice and helpful. I laughed out loud when I read all the combo options until I realized how smart it was to offer a wide bit of variety but each choice is done rather well. Ask my husband who thinks the combo choices were designed just for him. You can just get one item so don't feel you have to pig out totally. The staff in my local establishment is friendly and quick... not true of many so called "fast food" places these days. Prices are reasonable. Food is great for the burger joint types. I can even eat there on low-carb days... just skip the bun! The milk shake menu is killing me though. So many awesome choices. If you are into milkshakes, this place is for you! I have cheated and have tried a couple...totally cheat worthy. You'll need a spoon to start! There are also two CookOuts in nearby Clarksville, TN one of which is a walk up window and drive thru only on both sides of the building and was built to fit in a very unique setting. Great idea in an awkward area! I haven't had a bad experience at this location or at the Clarksville TN location. I don't have small children but I see that many families enjoy this restaurant. This place is great! The food is really good and it is fun experiencing new combinations with milkshakes and food! The menu is so varied, you can eat here every day and still never get bored. Update: Went in the other day. Ordered up a couple of corn dogs. Stood there and waited. And waited. And waited. People who had come in after I ordered were already scarfing down their food. When they gave a guy his tray and it had a corn dog on it, I walked back to the register and asked when I might expect to see my food. Showed the kid my receipt. He took it back to the kitchen and asked the person I assume was the manager where the order was. Manager said he had no idea. The kid came back and said he was sorry, but the kitchen never got my order ticket...would I like a free shake? Uh...no. I'd like what I paid for or I'd like my money back. Kid goes back to the kitchen again and tells the manager I want a refund. A refund?!? I'm cooking his order. Manager guy reached into his pocket and pulled out some money and handed it to the cashier. Kid comes and hands it to me with apologies. It was two dollars and a nickle. Seeing as how I had PAID $2.17 for my non-existent food, I'm now out twelve cents. The kid said "Sorry" again. I was going to ask to speak to the manager personally, but I said "You know what? The food is excellent. It's like Five Brothers except at a far more reasonable price. The milkshakes are fun, because it's a flat price. You can add as many items into the shake as you want. The serving staff seem to be quite pleasant. Not quite Chick-fil-A level friendliness, but certainly not McDonald's. The burger buns are a little... Lacking. Cook Out Dickson came highly recommended... but I'm not really impressed. I can see right off the bat... there's bad management. The girl at the front counter was polite and helpful... attempting to explain how the menu works... which is bizarre. As I was waiting for my order... it was obvious... she was frustrated and overloaded with having to stock the front counter @ 2:45 pm. Stock all over the counter. Even though it rained earlier, the place inside seemed damp and muggy to me... the dining room floor was extremely sticky, several tables were dirty, trashy and my table was also tacky. The front mats needed a vacuum and straightened out to prevent someone from tripping... the vents on the ice machine needed cleaned... spider webs dangling from the ceiling... and the windows were smeared and gross. Maybe it's just the outdoor theme... but everything is served in Styrofoam packaging. The food was fairly good... and it didn't take too long to get it. Except; getting mustard was a major issue. My request for mustard was filled with ketchup at first... had to go back to the counter to get it straight. No wonder they couldn't tell what was what... these little 2 inch Styrofoam containers all look alike and had about 1/8 inch of ingredient in the bottom. Who could reach their Onion Rings down inside of them? I couldn't, without mashing up my Onion ring and it crumbling away inside the container... Not enjoyable. Honestly if I could give it no star at all I would. I'm so sick of this place getting my order all sorts of wrong. It's EVERY TIME. My mother and I once went back THREE times to get our order fixed and they got it wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME. They still do. No one knows what they're doing in there let alone the menu. I've worked there once before so I know how everything is made. I know a spicy chicken sandwich is a breaded fried chicken. Not a Cajun style chicken sandwich. Every time I would ask for a spicy chicken sandwich, I got the Cajun style. They NEVER answer the phones anymore. Or EVER. The new manger(s) limited the phone to be "open" for only an HOUR A DAY. That's complete bullshit. Employees can't get ahold of mangers to tell them if they were in a car wreck or if they're sick. The customer ESPECIALLY can't call to tell them their order was fucked up. This place is shit now. It needs to be fixed. Rest assure I'll make everyone know how bad this place is and let's see how much business it gets then or who knows maybe buy the damn place out.
