I'm not sure why this place has such low ratings, because Cracker Barrel is awesome! I wish we had one in San Diego, so whenever I'm in Arizona, I make sure to stop by for breakfast! They have excellent breakfast meals. I usually get the one with eggs, bacon or sausage, pancakes, biscuits and sides such as cheesy hash browns or grits. The portions are huge and I always leave full and satisfied! I also like their southern fried chicken because they give you four pieces and you can choose between two or three sides. Two sides is plenty and I especially like their fried okra and green beans. I even ask for a side of gravy to smother my fried chicken with. It's delicious! Along with the restaurant, there is a cute country store attached to it where you can buy cute knick knacks, souvenir items, clothing, snacks, etc. I like to browse around after I eat to let all my food digest. In front of the store, they have rocking chairs lined up for people to sit and rock while they wait. Love this place. It's great for travelers, but I am local. Welcoming crew of employees greet and guide you to restaurant entrance. The restaurant is spacious and allows for leisure dining and conversations. Attentive refills. Food homy and tasty. Point earning is fun, haven't used yet. It's hard to discuss the Ambiance or Service at individual CB because they all are so similar. Similar in design [beautiful], country store [wife loves it] and service [awesome]. Have not been for years. I forgot about all the old antiques and cool treats for sale in the store up front. I ordered the pancake and eggs for breakfast. What impressed me was the smooth buttermilk pancakes and the real butter and pure maple syrup. I will come again to try their chocolate pecan pie. read more

Cracker Barrel stores are full of tchotchkes and retro candy. Excellent service. Roaring fireplace. Clean as a whistle. The cup of chicken dumpling soup was tasty but not hot enough. The grits - delicious as always. Turnip greens, one of my favourite US southern sides was disappointing. The "spicy" chicken breast was juicy and tasty. Cracker Barrel is an institution in the US. My wife was craving Chiicken Fried Steak so we came here. She got an iced tea and we both got waters. My wife got the Chicken Fried Steak and a double order of Fried Cinnamon Apples and Corn Bread Muffins. I got the Southern Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy with Biscuits. My wife loved the Chicken Fried Steak and Apples. My Fried Chicken was hot and juicy, but the Mashed Potatoes were cold and lumpy. The Biscuits were hard and dried out. Service was good, and our waitress checked back on us often. Interior of store was full of stuff and was not one that went through the stupid update that the CEO tried to do, thank goodness. We have been coming here for many years and generally order the same thing every time. I mentioned this because our last experience was terrible. I should note that the service was excellent and the gift shop is adorable, however, the food was terrible this time around. I'm not sure what's going on in the kitchen, but they need to fire whoever is cooking back there. We always order the chicken fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, vegetable and salad. My salad arrived first and it looked like old lettuce with water all over it. My sweet waiter, who I felt sorry for throughout this whole process asked if I would like anything else and I requested the onion petals which I generally love. Oh my gosh, I received a small white bowl with dehydrated, old onion pieces, and a little plastic container with sauce. I didn't have the heart to complain again, so I just ate them because I was starving. When dinner arrived. I was very surprised that our plates had maybe 4 tablespoons of potatoes on the side.... Definitely not the usual. Our sweet waiter brought us some more potatoes when we mentioned it... when I cut into my chicken it had the strange texture.. Wet stringy texture... squishy, not the solid white meat that I'm used to. I took two bites of one of the chicken breast and spit it out, cut into the second piece that clearly had slimy strings and pushed it aside. I usually take leftovers home, but I sure didn't this time. My husband was OK so I'm not sure what was going on with my plate. Again, I didn't have the heart to complain to our sweet waiter... My dinner was the vegetable I ordered with my dinner( room, temp broccoli) and the little bowl of potatoes, my waiter brought early on with our dinner . I should also mention that we order this dish every time we come to this place and have a clear understanding what the norm is and last night was definitely not it. Knowing Cracker Barrel doesn't take reservations, I was understandably nervous when my Mother-in-law decided she wanted to celebrate her 99th birthday here - along with 17 of her family and friends. I called a week ahead of time and spoke with Erica, who assured me that, regardless, they would "take care of us." Well, I'm here to tell you that Erica was a good as her word! Within minutes of our arrival they had our tables set up, water served and drink orders taken. We had the great luck of having Jay as our server. He handled our large and boisterous group with grace and humor. Our food was served promptly and came to the table good and hot! Hey guys stopped in today for lunch with the family. I have always loved the feel of cracker barrel old school store and dining. The host was very nice and we got sat right away. Are server was Jessica her service was okay. I order drinks and took some time to get them. I look around for them and couldn't be found. We order our food I got the Louisiana Style Shrimp Skillet. My sides were onion petals and Mac and cheese and got biscuits. It comes with a garlic bread. I said no rice but they gave it to me anyways. The rice I believe was not cooked all the way still hard. The shrimp had good flavor but was rubbery and swimming in sauce. I thought it being Louisiana style it would have a little kick to it but it didn't which was okay. The petals were great and Mac n cheese was so creamy and piping hot. During our time the server checked maybe 2 times on us. My mom got chicken and dumplings which was amazing. I waited for my refill for a while she stoped and said I'll be right back took about 10mins for that. We asked for Togo box's and then paid and left. I would understand if it was busy for the timing but it was not busy at all. The only thing that saved this trip was my sides. Hopefully if we stop again the service is better. read more

I've always loved Cracker Barrel but it has definitely lost touch with its roots. There are just too many options and corporate has opted for cheaper options to replace things. The food is just not as flavorful and fresh. Things tasted overcooked, mushy vegetables, and the meats were drier than usual. They would do better if they focus on the country basics and do them well instead. The best thing was the Mac n cheese. Our server was kind and attentive and made our experience pleasant! The store is always fun to browse and I appreciate the old fashioned games and candies. I'll inevitably be back to try it again though and I'm hopeful for an improved dining experience. read more

We stopped in for a family breakfast at this Cracker Barrel and had a great time! I haven't been to one in a very long time and was impressed by the breakfast options and how the food came out. We all got some type of special, mine included steak tips, we had biscuits and gravy, hash browns etc and the coffee was great! Quentin noticed that we were sitting and waiting for it food to stop and ask if r needed anything else and offered us biscuits while we waited. I was craving meatloaf and after work decided to stop at Cracker Barrel Chandler. Server was kind but meal was ok. Best part of my meal was the salad. I believe the meat in the greens was bad. My first batch went to add hot sauce but the lid was not on the sauce so it spilled all in the first bowl of greens. The second bowl of greens I didn't put the hot sauce on and noticed more pieces of meat. Was about to eat it and was like the smell was off from what I'm familiar with. Thinking at first maybe it is how they were cooked. By the time I got home I had to toss the greens my entire car smelled like bad cooked pork. Since I had to wait for second bowl I was full. I had taken everything to go, even the greens. I'm a believer that things happen for a reason the hot sauce issue was a blessing as I would have been sick had I eaten the first bowl of greens. read more

I think that I'll always love the food at Cracker Barrel. The only problem now is the service. Once they can get the staff properly trained and enough staff I think that things will go back to normal. As I said the beginning the food is great. This morning breakfast was good. Coffee is always weak and lukewarm. I asked the shift leader Mike about one of the antique items, as I was curious as to what this one tool was. He just hurriedly says "I don't know, Google it" I would think after the big fuss of NOT upgrading, employees should learn about the antiques they have dangling from their walls and ceiling. A VERY gruff old woman, probably the manager comes up and asks, me, are you on "the list". I said no.
