Food was horrible! I ordered a New York Strip with a loaded baked potato and fried apples. I got a tough New York Strip cooked correctly but the meat had so much gristle it was over half in eatable and they brought out fried shrimp with it. To say My order was wrong is an understatement. Then by the time they brought the potato out my food was cold. There was also a hair in my son's food. My wife had the pot roast and mashed potatoes, which were uneatable. My other son's order was also wrong, they gave him the shrimp in place of the loaded baked potato also. We had been in the car all day traveling and we picked this place to stop, $108 bucks in this economy and all I was able to eat was the apples. Don't waste your time or money. read more

An older friend of mine and myself went for a drive yesterday because of the weather and because she hasn't been out for almost a week. After touring around, we decided to try a different Cracker Barrel restaurant in our area off of Airport Road. As soon as we walked in, it was evident to note that there wasn't many people around the store and having to wait over five minutes or so for someone to come to seat us, the restaurant as well was not very busy at 2:30 in the afternoon. After getting seated, we waited a while before our server came to ask us what we'd like to drink. We had plenty of time to not only tell her what we wanted to drink, but our order as well. We both chose the turkey and dressing with gravy and cranberry sauce. We both chose a bit different sides. Our drinks came, and we waited a bit for our meal, even though it wasn't very crowded, and when our meals came, right away I knew that the turkey they serve here is not real turkey, but pressed deli type turkey. I ate some of it, but was not very happy. I started in on the dressing and the celery had not been cooked enough and we're still very crunchy. My sweet potato casserole was a bit on the loose and sloppy looking side as well I want to note that when she brought the food on her tray, the mashed potatoes were slopped on the small bowl with the mashed potatoes hanging over the sides, very non-appetizing! In addition, on top of everything, her thumb touched my mashed potatoes....disgusting. I cut a section where she had touched those mashed potatoes and started putting them on my plate. My friends extra dish of cranberry sauce she had touched some of her finger and it as well, so she didn't bother eating it. The basket of breads, which usually contains muffins and biscuits, she sent out one muffin and one biscuit. The muffin was partially burnt and the biscuit didn't look very appetizing as well. Both of us managed to eat some of the food, but I mentioned to her when she came by to ask us if everything was OK that I was not pleased with the turkey, but she didn't know what I was talking about. We asked her for more to drink and that took a while, we were out of napkins, and that was an extra trip so therefore this was not a pleasant encounter. I love Cracker Barrel and most of their food, but I thought I'd try the turkey and dressing, I will not try that again! We stopped at this Cracker Barrel on way home because of its proximity to the interstate. We were sat in less than 10 minutes and the restaurant was less than 1/4 full. The meal took an hour to come out. When it came out, it was missing the meat with the breakfast entree. Apparently over the past hour no one wanted to tell us they were out of sausage. We asked to speak to the manager who told us our ticket had only been entered 37 minutes ago and they were busy because it was a Sunday. The place was dead. 4 tables were seated in our section. No apologies just excuses. I told him he should go away because he was only making things worse. Our food did arrive 65 minutes after we'd been seated. The assistant manager brought it to us apologizing profusely. I wouldn't eat here again if they paid me. read more

I order the sampler 2 meat entree, I ordered the country chicken and the chicken and dumplings. My chicken breading was so hard. I couldn't even cut it with a knife. When you hit on it, it sounded like you were tapping a rock. The inside was very dry. The dumplings in the chicken was so dry. There was no juice and they were gummy. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that the manager was busy and didn't have time to talk. So I was stuck with a meal. I could not eat. The process are not cheap, but the food was even worse. I go to Cracker Barrel all the time. But my last 2 trips was very bad. Experience, not sure. I want to go back. I can't even get my food fixed for something. I could even eat so I left very unsatisfied and went home This is not a good way to run. A business customers are what you need. My Mother-in-Law loves visiting Cracker Barrel. She enjoys shopping, the staff, and always having her favorite breakfast foods. I appreciate that the people are always willing to be kind and helpful to her. She has lots of questions and comments, and they people always take the time to chat with her. That means so much to me as she is less and less able and willing to go out and about. She is always excited to go visit Cracker Barrel! This Cracker Barrel is right off of the interstate, so it is almost always busy. Thankfully, there are plenty of distractions to keep one distracted while waiting on a table. The food is reliable. Southern comfort food...hot, filling and tasty. I have used the app to order to-go meals for small and large groups. This was beyond horrible, and this used to be the best cracker barrel in the Asheville area. Had to wait over 30 minutes for our meals and all of them were wrong. Waitress repeatedly brought the wrong food out or not at all. The building was 3/4 empty at the dinner hour. Not even remotely busy and the waitress was no where to be seen. Didn't get 2 of my sides. Others in our party didn't get the right toppings and sauces. Baked potato was wrong, and the salad didn't make it out till nearly the end of the meal. Maybe the waitress was new...but the whole restaurant didn't seem to run well. At one point other waitresses were seen sitting in the doorway to the kitchen. We arrived just before they closed and departed before they opened, having had dinner not far away at Blue Ghost and got something later on the highway. Yes, this Cracker Barrel tolerates overnight RV parking in their lot and that's pretty awesome. Quite a lot of noise here from the highway and it is not an easy parking lot for larger vehicles. The server Lilly was very sweet and accommodating and brought a whole new plate of food for my partner. ( I was okay with lukewarm food.) The manager Robin came to the table to make sure everything was acceptable. She was polite and gracious. The staff including Danielle were working under very stressful conditions and maintained a friendly and relaxed attitude. They comped my partner's food! Who even does that anymore?! I normally LOVE Cracker Barrel. I stop in at least once per long distance trip. Always great inside the restaurants and unfortunately for my wallet, the retail area has seen me quite a bit as well. So yes, this Yelp is ONLY for a current complaint. Today, for the first time ever, I ordered take out from the Arden, NC location. I dont know why. I woke up feeling lazy and decided not to just pour some milk on my Wheaties. So I ordered breakfast to go. Which is a HORRIBLE idea in general, bcuz who wants to warm up eggs, etc. But I thought if a place had a chance of getting it right, it would be good old reliable Cracker Barrel. $66 later (WHAT ON EARTH!?!), my order of two large breakfasts featuring eggs, breakfast meat, side, and biscuits and gravy, came without the, you guessed it, BISCUITS. It also didn't come with the EXTRA side of sawmill gravy I paid for. At 8 am on a Wednesday, I doubt they were out. Especially as it was part of the meal, not a complimentary basket. And I could have ordered entrees that came without the biscuits and gravy for $4 cheaper. So now you got me for $4 x 2 meals, plus no side gravy for $2.50. $10+ for things I didnt receive. And more importantly not the meal or experience I expected. The kicker at Cracker Barrel, however, is that they have a to go QUALITY CHECKLIST to verify that everything is in the bag. Except they failed to use it. Disappointing and irritating. I think I'll avoid CB for awhile. I'll definitely not order to go in the future. If this location can't handle to go, which seems to be a consistent complaint now that I read Yelp reviews of this location, it seems they should either shut down to go, which I'm sure corporate wont allow them to do, or have a manager complete all to go orders. read more

You know that it's going to be good when you find a Cracker Barrel, the steak and eggs were delicious, far more seasoned than I was use to, but it was even better, the steak was just like I like it, and the extras were so much that my wife was even full. Love the biscuits with the fried apples, it's like a DIY pie with every bite. Try some apples on your biscuits if you never have, it's better than just jam. It's a Cracker Barrel, what can I say? CB is one of the few places where you can have an excellent breakfast at any time of the day. You can have your pick of various combinations of smoked bacon, eggs cooked your way, grits and butter, toast, biscuits and gravy, etc. Their lunch and other menu items start around 11 a.m. CB has one of the best hashbrown casseroles around, and I love the spicy grilled fish - YUM! You can find some healthy options on the menu, including low-carb so don't let your diet stop you from visiting. The traditional CB Country Store is here as well, so even if you have to wait for a table you have plenty of stuff to view, look at and maybe even buy! read more

The most interesting part of the Cracker Barrel is the store. Visited the location during the Christmas holidays and the store was nicely decorated for the season. All kinds of interesting things for sale, not your usual tourist merchandising. Some thought was put into the items for sale to match the decor and theme of the restaurant. Beautiful selection of old fashioned candy and chocolates. The food itself is average. The dining room has the same old country feel. Even the waitress serving us had that same welcoming and country style demeanour. I can't really recommend Cracker Barrel for the food. But it may be worth a visit just for the country theme experience they have created. read more

Charged $1.40 for CHEESE ON GRITS and when I spoke to the manager saying that the server did not mention there was a charge. She only kept asking if we wanted to add this and that. Nor did the menu say there was a charge. The managers response was "well know next time cheese costs". No sorry, nothing. He was honestly bothered by having to speak to a customer. Didn't matter that I explained the person that was charged this was special needs. So I guess they'll take advantage of anyone and not care. Their loaded potato said $1.99 on the menu but turns out it's $3.50 on its own($1.99 for add on). They definitely need to revise their menu with all these charges. If it's not listed it's not exactly legal to charge. American companies used to pride themselves in customer service but by god that's not the same anymore. read more

Had lunch today at this location w/ a friend. Service was great and food was good with one exception. My friend ordered hasbrowns from the grill which they upcharge a $1. My friend felt like the hashbrowns were overcooked which can be a subjective thing I know. Server was very accomondating and got him a replacement order. It was cooked exactly the same with an bonus of geasy, burnt grill scrapings. Young manager came over and discussed. Said it can't be helped on a Sunday (not sure for the reason) and that is just the way it is. They did get it right the 3rd try. Consistently inconsistent. It is so frustrating that every time we visit this location we have a different type of customer experience. Whether it's the food/beverage quality, portion size or service it's always something. Over the past year we have eaten here more than 20 times and one time will be good the next time it's a hot mess, again and again ... Maaaaan I haven't been to this joint since I attended ECU... I think. Anyway it's been a long time and from what I remember it was always poppin. Not sure why this particular spot only has 3 stars. Perhaps it's a hit or miss? Iono. Well today it was a hit. My breakfast was JUMPIN! Well the pancakes were. I forgot how they could be all fluffy yet crispy on the edges. All dat with some fresh strawberries, butter, and syrup. Awwwww yeeeaaaa! It was crowded as I remember it to be but it was only a short 15 min wait. Our waitress was cool and we had at least FIVE different people stop and check on us including 2 managers. Anything we needed we got almost immediately: napkins, more drink, biscuits and apple butter. The charisma was on point that day. I took off one star cuz the cheese grits were eh.... And the sausage was "Mer". I'm not sure what all the fuss is about but I don't require 5 star service from Cracker Barrel. Lower your standards a bit and get your Brekky at this joint. read more
