I always do to go at Cracker Barrel. I really don't like eating in the dining room because it can be a little dirty at times. I know Cracker Barrel isn't fast food restaurant but their take out is very slow at times. Some of the staff try and speed up your wait time but overall they are slow. read more

Each time we go there, no need to wait for seating. Even when is pack, the most you wait may be 15 minutes. Side orders are served with your order, and in abundance, not in small portions like other places. Love the 1 hr. ride from the Bronx. Senic area. Staff is excellent and friendly. I have been a fan of Cracker Barrel for years. They have been consistent in their quality and value when I travel the roads. When I moved back to the area from living in the South and Southwest, it was rather a pleasant surprise to find they had built one locally in Fishkill. I think that all their menu items reflect their country motif: but also remind me of down home. Portions are fair, I've never encountered a nasty waitress/waiter, and it is the only place I have found "Black Jack" gum since I was a kid (long ago!). The only down side is some of my favorite dishes are laden with calories: but oh so good! Sometimes the wait can be long: but it would appear that occurs when travelers get off the highway (84). There is a long distance without a restaurant visible from the highway when coming from Connecticut especially. Coming from the west, the only really good place is the diner before crossing the bridge: but some folks avoid diners. read more

Liz was our waitress for the evening. She was very friendly, courteous and polite...almost like family to us. I enjoyed the ambiance and efficiency in which the staff worked to bring our meals to the table and the ever constant attention to our needs. Liz was wonderful and should be promoted. Thank you...it was my son's graduation and it was his choice as it was ours as well, to come to Cracker Barrel. His graduation was at HOFSTRA University, Long Island... we live in Queens. My sister and family live in Modena. We made the journey that day from Forest Hills, Queens to Hofstra LI....back to Forest Hills and then to Cracker Barrel in Fishkill. If I could give zero stars I would. My girlfriend and I went to Cracker Barrel after a long day of travel. We called ahead of time just to confirm how long they would be serving because we knew it would be close to closing time. The website said they close at 11pm and they stated that they served up until 11pm. So we decided to go. We arrived at 10:30pm and they seated us and took our orders right away. The manager took our orders and it felt very rushed because he didn't want to wait for the waitress. The waitress then came over and went over our orders again to double-check it was correct because she stated that "managers don't know how to wait on people." We then gave our orders and I asked her if our meals came with biscuits and she said yes. We received our food and there were no biscuits. She asked if we needed anything else and I mentioned the biscuits again. She then returned a few minutes later and said they ran out of muffins and stopped making biscuits an hour. Meanwhile the table next to us had received a platter of muffins and biscuits 5 minutes prior to that. I kept my mouth shut and moved on to my meal to find that the chicken biscuit sandwich I ordered was a complete mess. The egg that was supposed to be atop it was completely off the sandwich and I had to put it on the chicken myself. It was also missing the fried onions that it was supposed to come with. To top it all off, I was then charged $1.50 more for some add-on item that I didn't understand and I know I didn't order. The entire experience was rushed and half-hearted. If they had told Me they stopped serving before 11pm, I wouldn't have gone. But they told us 11pm and then wouldn't give us full service. Huge disappointment. read more

This was my first time here today, but it definitely will not be my last. I took my mother for an afternoon lunch, as it is her that constantly tells her tells of how great this place was. I'm not fond of waiting a long time, and the place looked extremely busy. However, the wait flew by as the front of the store is lined with rockers. The surrounding landscape, chairs and the oversized checker boards was a perfect place to sit and relax. Made you feel like you were visiting friends on a front porch. Inside also gives you a great country cozy feeling. All the employees were very polite and friendly. Our waiter did a great job both serving and checking on us, and his recommendation (Country fried chicken) was absolutely great. There is a good selection of sides to choose from, and the warm biscuits were just like home. The food was great, good portions (needed a take home box), and I thought the prices were very reasonable. On the way out we took time to walk around the store, and had to pick up a few things. Again, the place gave a very comfortable and country feel to it and I thought and the store items were also reasonably priced. After my first visit, I will sure to pass on my recommendations to my friends. read more

Went here after a long drive from Buffalo New York. Our waitress was Michelle and she was really sweet. We placed our order, 5 min later our waitress came and said they ran out of what I ordered, so I changed my order to the chicken. 7 minute later Michelle came again and said they didn't have the chicken ready to order and it would take an addition 20 minutes to make my chicken dinner, so now NOT only did I have to change my order again but my sister had to change it as well because she also had ordered the chicken and was not ready, so I opted for the Meatloaf. Michelle was very apologetic about the entire situation and offered us free dessert. KEITH the "manager " came after I finished my meatloaf, didn't apologize for the situation and just said "the chickens ready if you are still hungry, I'm going to have to throw it away if you guys don't want it". We declined the chicken because we were full and we were staying at a hotel and didn't have a place to store it in. Went there last night for the first time in many years. It was Friday-night busy with a wait but I went on-line and put ourselves on the "wait list" so we were seated very quickly. The food was mediocre, but fair for the price, I suppose. Not terrible. The service, on the other hand, we thought was terrible. We felt rushed by our waitress throughout out our meal. We were asked at least twice for our order before we even got the chance to read the menu. We had to ask for a lot of things, a waitress usually offers automatically (straws, steak knife et) The worst was when she brought the check while we were still eating ! My friend asked "what if we want coffee or dessert?? The response was "Oh , this is restaurant policy, if you want desserts we put it on a separate check" REALLY ???? Not likely to visit again, unless we find ourselves in want of fast food served with in a bum's rush. read more

July 6th 2017 4:30 P.M. Normally I love Cracker Barrel, this one was highly recommended by my mother. I was a server many years ago so I know what should be done and what not should be done. First my parents and myself sit down. 10 minutes later she shows up to take our drink order.10 more minutes, drinks come and she takes our meal order. The glasses and silverware were filthy, the table was actually sticky. I go to take a sip of my lemonade that has no ice, it is room temperature! 10 mins go by and no biscuits or muffins, 10 more mins and she keeps walking buy us never asking how things are. 5 more mins and the food came. She got everyone's order wrong, she forgot two sides of mine, she forgot my father's grits and gravy. We tell her the list of things she forgot. She says to me: "what side do you want?" I say the collard greens. She says: "we don't have any more, what else?" "Well you forgot two so the pintos and the string beans". My father says: "and the biscuits and muffins, my grits and gravy and the refill on my coffee". We started to eat, my french fries tasted like they were fried hours before and sitting under a heat lamp, my fried shrimp tasted the same way and cooked way too long. My grits had a leathery skin on top. Finally the plate of bread... me: "I ordered the corn muffins" she says they are out. She brought no butter and not my father's grits and gravy. 10 minutes later out they come and once again they were as old as the day. The only saving grace were two of my 3 hush puppies. The 3rd one was way overcooked and greasy. Let's put it this way. Everything about this Cracker Barrel was a nightmare. read more

Worst meal I've had in a very long time. It was impossible to get water refills, my (medium) steak was over cooked to the point of being hockey puck status. My friends shrimp was practically burned (left in fryer too long) and the waiter rarely came by. And to top it off they overcharged me nearly $6. I can't recommend this place. read more

It is what it is. Cracker Barrel is about the same no matter where you go. There are times though I wonder what's going on because there might be 30 people in the place and the service is as if they are packed. All in all it's a go-to when nothing better is available because while it could be better it's not terrible. read more

I don't even know why I am giving this two stars, maybe because I liked the country store. But, my husband and I drove 40 minutes to this restaurant and waited another 40 to get in. The gift shop is great! However, the restaurant leaved me with a bad taste. No pun intended. I ordered the Chicken with Dumplings. When I got them, they were NOT the chicken and dumplings I would expect. There were 2 small pieces of chicken wrapped in noodles. It tasted like something from a Campbell's soup recipe. Gross. So, I told the waiter that I did not like it. He apologized and also told me that many people do not like this particular dish. Can you imagine? I did not order anything else because my husband was done with his food by that time. Very disappointed and hungry, we got the bill. Needless to say, the food was still on the bill. : 0 . Now, I have been to many a restaurant, our favorite one being in HIcksville, where this has happened before and the manager always comped us for the untouched plate AND the new plate of food ordered if we had done that. I now had to go up to the manager and ask why we were not comped. He did not even know about this. The waiter should have told him, but did not. Then he angrily asked me what was wrong with it. When I told him, he snatched the bill from me and told me he would take it off. He told me that the waiter was new, which I did not believe. I told him that it was a good thing that I did not order something else because two dinners would have been on the bill. He replied "no it wouldn't." I said of course it would have. I had to actually go up to the manager, which I would of had to do, had I ordered something else as well. He was not very pleasant, to say the least. The way to keep customers coming back is to tell the manger, have him come over, and/or insist that the customer order something else "on the house." That is the way to save a customer/management relationship. To my surprise the busboy that was throwing away the food, also told me that the dish I had ordered was no good. Again, imagine the staff members telling me that this was not a good meal to order. It does not say much about the food in general. UGH! So, my experience with this place, for the first time, was not a good one. Would I go again, many people are telling me to try the breakfast, however, I would totally have to be coaxed. I have to be honest. At first I was a little skeptical of the Cracker Barrel, but since all my friends wanted to go there after our other friends wedding I thought I would go with an open mind. Not to mention it is a chain restaurant....how bad could it really be. We got there around 11ish and it was packed. We had to wait about a half an hour to get a table. The time actually went by pretty fast....they have rocking chairs and games you can play while you wait. Once we finally sat down we were starving! We order so much food....enough to feed an army. I am not kidding....we ordered so much that the waitress looked at us like were crazy. Anyway, since we ordered so much I was able to try a bunch of different things. I tried their biscuits with apple butter, mac-n-cheese, brown sugared ham, country fried steak, hash brown casserole and the pancakes with sausage. To my surprise everything was good. The pancakes were probably the best thing I tried. They were very light and fluffy with a hit of extra sweetness to them. I also liked that they gave you individual bottles of syrup...very cute! read more

I love Cracker Barrel unconditionally. I grew up between the Midwest and the South, so Cracker Barrel has always been a staple in my life. Since moving to New York 5 years ago, I only get to go when I'm back home for a visit, which makes me incredibly sad. Fortunately when my bf and I went out of town this weekend, we got to stop here on the way home. He's from the Northeast and had never had it before, and we both had a fantastic time. We were there for Sunday lunch and only waited about 5 minutes to be seated. I got my usual - chicken and dumplings platter with mac n cheese, carrots, and baked sweet potato - he got the breakfast sliders. Everything was wonderful, our waitress was really friendly and helpful. The service was quick. No complaints whatsoever. I really don't understand why there isn't a Cracker Barrel in/near the city, but if we ever get one, I'll be there to cut the ribbon! read more

For a chain, this place has really good food. My fiancee and my sister came for brunch/lunch on a Saturday around noonish. It was a 25 minute wait, but I really love that the wait passes by much faster when you can peruse the shop full of seasonal goodies, vintage food/toys and assorted knick knacks. It was packed though--traffic around the store was busy! We got some blueberry maple syrup, peach cobbler mix and their wheat sourdough bread. The time the hostess gave us was accurate and within 25 minutes, we were seated. The menu is freaking huge and its two menus - one breakfast and one lunch/dinner. Our server was efficient and friendly. I ordered breakfast-two over easy eggs with biscuits and a side of hashbrown casserole. The eggs were good-perfectly cooked and the biscuits were delicious-soft and warm and took the egg flavor well. The hashbrown casserole was delicious too and went well with the eggs. My fiancee ordered the half pound bacon cheeseburger and my sister ordered the low carb version-no bun. Unfortunately, they did mess up my sister's order when she asked for it without cheese (they gave it to her with) and she asked for mashed potatoes on the side (she got fries). The food was good though. The price was awesome-30 bucks for everything and we even got a side of onion rings to share. The onion rings were decent--not overcooked but not too flavorful. We also got 2 biscuits and 2 corn muffins to share...biscuits were great but the corn muffins were tough. Overall, a good go to place for brunch/lunch or breakfast if you're willing to wait! Cracker Barrel was a huge disappointment., Fishkill, NY. We waited 45 minutes for a table. After the wait we placed are orders, a few minutes go by and the waiter comes out to apologize that they have no chicken. After I respond no chicken another waiter came over and said not again this happened last Sunday too. We asked for menus and started all over again. Now the food comes out. A party of nine and not one order was complete with the sides or not the correct sides. To add insult to injury there are only eight entrees. ( guess they ran out of food). The waiter tried his best to fix this mess but I requested to speak to the manager. After a few minutes this man appears and asked what is the problem. After explaining what was going on all he could respond was I am sorry and yes we are out of chicken. I further explained the rest of the mishaps again he said he was sorry what would I like him to do. I explained my whole family is finishing there dinner and I yet still had no dinner. Again like a recording he said I'm sorry how can I help you. Did I really need to explain my dinner would have been nice. At that point I gave up about my dinner. I let The manager no how unsatisfied we were and that I wanted the check. Twenty minutes went by when I went looking for this manager I wanted to pay my bill so I could go home and eat something. He gave me the bill and explained it was discounted and he offered me a gold card. I asked what was the gold card for? He replied for the next time you eat here.
