This was my first time trying Cracker Barrel and although the sides were good, my entree was not. Maybe it was my mistake getting a steak from Cracker Barrel but I asked for medium rare and got well done and after I ate some of my steak and the food settled a bit, I became nauseous and threw up in the bathroom. Such a warm home like atmosphere! They have a store with unique items to look through while waiting to be seated . They sell rocking chairs , clothing, ornaments , books toys candy syrup home decor and more . Then the menu will leave you stuffed! Never an entree we didnt like! Great fast friendly service . Southern home cooking! I love breakfast ( all day menu) and the burgers are good too . Price is very low for the amount of food they serve you! i thought because this place was odd the highway it would be great....but nope! worse then what I thought....got there waited a good 5 minutes before I asked the cashier at the store... she saw one of the waiters and told him I needed to be seated... he said I hang my hands tied up now... which indeed he was... so another 5 minutes go by through that whole process.... finally get seated and there goes another 15 minutes just waiting....finally nice kid comes and apologized....takes my order and it comes out quick....Thank God! Been coming here for quite a number of years now. Had dinner on Saturday night. I noticed the portion sizes are getting smaller. When I mentioned this to the manager I was told they are standardizing this across all the CB restaurants. You know folks go to CB for a good home cooked meal good value and good sized portions. Guess they got some bean counter in CHQ trying to squeeze out a few more cents for profit. Charlie Brown restaurants started doing this years ago and now the chain is almost gone. We also had a waitress named Amy. She just wasn't that good. Non attentive, forgetful, had to ask her numerous times for napkins water etc. And as we were still eating she was cleaning up the table for the morning shift. Very busy place... I have been here several times over several years. Atmosphere has always been the same. Friendly people, very tight merchandise store section, usually a 5-10 minute table wait time, table seating is on the slightly small side if not seated in a big round table, and noise level is tolerable high. The waiters and waitresses are always nice with a grin and are always aware of a beverage needing a refill. The menu offers a wide range of comfort food which I believe can suit any palate for breakfast lunch and dinner. read more

Went there for breakfast this morning. We waited several minutes after we were seated until a very nice waiter named Kenny asked if anyone had taken our order. It took 25 minutes for our order to be placed on our table, and the restaurant was not crowded- probably half full. Re the food: My son said his blueberry pancakes we're excellent. But we both found the sausage to be dry and hard, and my bacon was definitely overcooked. The best thing about my breakfast was the biscuits. In sum, though Iove the country store atmosphere, I think I'll go elsewhere for breakfast in the future. read more

Yes, I am a fan of Cracker Barrel. No I'm not from the South and I can care less about authenticity. I just want good food, warm corn bread, and Cracker Barrel brings it. Can I come here every week? Heck no! I wouldn't live to write this review. This is definitely a place to indulge in once in a while when the mood strikes for a cholesterol kick. I always try to squeeze in at least one side of veggies so I don't feel so guilty. I've only been for dinner and I've left happy. The service has always been pleasant and available. This has to be my favorite Cracker Barrel out of all of the ones even remotely close to NYC. On the plus side, I never see the huge tour buses of people like I do at others. The wait time is almost always shorter than what they say it is, which is awesome because if I'm here I'm starving. The food is superior quality to the others, with the exception of the grits which can be really watery. So what do I go for? First night, eating healthy, I had grilled chicken and corn and hash brown casserole because that's about as healthy as I can get. Delicious. Finished it off with a frozen mug sundae and I was happy and ready for bed. All around the table everyone got breakfast, pot roast, meatloaf and all sorts of things. The next trip we pretty much all had breakfast. Sunrise sampler for me and I was a happy camper. Hubby got the country boy breakfast so he could have his thick cut of steak with eggs and we split the buttermilk and berries pancakes with raspberry syrup which were of course awesome. I overloaded with the biscuits but it was all worth it. The service is always efficient here and friendly. The store is one of the better ones and yes I'm a loser when it comes to gimmicky stuff but I need to buy things when I'm here. Do I know how to play harmonica? No way! But I have one to annoy people with thanks to the old country store. Now I have a kazoo too. All sorts of old toys for cheap, candies and the bucket of fudge which is my favorite. So many cute things and yes I always buy tons. They're always really well stocked here. Now I want more Cracker Barrel. Oh yeah, chocolate coca cola cake. Sorry folks, Cracker Barrel is fine if you're on a high fat, high cholesterol, high carb, diet and you don't have a discriminating palate. That said the food is touted as "southern style" but their biscuits and gravy would shame any genuine Southerner. The gravy is thick, tasteless, and without the savory flavor of an authentic southern meal. You'd do much, much better by heading to Cibo's on Main Street in Fishkill, for a great breakfast at comparable prices. As far as diners well, my opening sentence says it all. It's "grub" as one reviewer comments, and that's about all. read more

This location isn't far from the Highway. It gets busy here. On our way to go apple picking in the lovely state of NY, we made a stop here. Luckily we were early where we didn't have to wait to be seated. Right away Ruth came over and ordered drinks for us and bought out some biscuits with Apple Butter(must). She took our order efficiently. She kept checking on us and bought some additional biscuits out because the kitchen was backed up and our food took long. 4 adults and 1 child. We had pancakes(cant come here and not have them!), country fried steak & chicken, hashbrown casserole, eggs and bacon. Pancakes are the BOMB! And the syrup is always hot! The country fried steak & chicken were nice and juicy not oily at all. The hashbrown casserole WAS THE BEST WE'VE HAD AN ANY CRACKER BARREL LOCATION!!!! It was moist and hot. Last time we had this we were sooooo disappointed. Ruth made sure to keep the drinks filled and made sure we were good. Oh the sweet tea was fresh too! Don't get the to go they will mess it up and forget half the stuff and blame door dash for the mistake! Food was terrible, ice cold even though door dash was here within minutes of picking the order up. Worst mistake ordering from here. Service was slow, went out for a bite to eat with my friend and it wasn't busy but it took a while. Received my food and macaroni was cold, my friend's sausages was pink and undone, ham was undercooked; overall food was pitiful. Went to cash out or order and the cashier, Corleen, had a horrible attitude and poor customer service. Her body language wasn't appropriate towards us when we were just trying to pay for our food. One star is for the lovely waitress Taylor and the friendly staff. She was attentive, informative and on top of everything. The food, however, is a different story. We ordered the fried chicken dinner. The chicken was tasty with a nice coating that had a little bit of a kick although a bit on the greasy side. The sides were minuscule for a country restaurant which wouldn't have been bad had they not been tasteless and just plain awful. Another in my party had the grilled pork chop, yes singular, that looked like a piece of shoe leather from the bottom of someone's shoe. It had no gravy to give it some flavor or cover up this atrocity. Again, the sides looked pitiful. Too bad. We're really looking for a good fried chicken place and this isn't it. read more

I've been going there for years. It is one of my favorite places. The food is great and the service is USUALLY fantastic. They need to do something about their phone service. I've called the number they have listed,845-896-4194, three times to place a carry out order. No answer! NONE!!!!! My phone finally shut off the phone rang so long. They used to be really good, but their food has gone downhill in recent years. Their fried potatoes used to be a little crisp and had pieces of onion and peppers. The last couple times, they were just potatoes, mushy, with hardly any seasoning. Their eggs and pancakes are typical diner type food. The last time I was there to eat, they gave me a dirty fork, which I didn't notice until after I'd been eating. Normally I check out my utensils before I eat, and I thought I had looked at that fork, but I saw dried hardened food going up the handle, that definitely did not come from what I was having, and it worried me that it had been on the part that touched my food. I had a stomach ache and felt ill that night, not sure if it was connected. I like their gift shop. I've gone in just to shop there instead of ordering food. But, last time we went to buy a few things, they double charged us for a pack of candy. It wasn't worth walking back in to get a refund, but we felt ripped off. read more

CrackerBarrel is one of our favorite restaurants. A few weeks ago we stopped in for a late breakfast. The wait was less then ten minutes. Our waitress was fantastic. Very personable and showed she cared. We also put in an outgoing dinner order while we were eating. About 25 minutes later the manager came out to apologize for the wait for our outgoing order. He gave us a card for a free dinner and drink the next time we came in. We love the store and have purchased Christmas items many times We wish there was one closer then Fishkill. read more

My husband and I had lunch with another couple today. It took 25 minutes after we were seated for a server to come up to us. This is after 2 other tables came in after us and had food and drinks on the table already. The waitress took our order and after another 15-20 minutes we were served our drinks. Really?? Our food finally arrived. I ordered the chicken and dumpling platter with 3 sides. The chicken and dumplings were dry and had no gravy. I have never seen them served that way before. I asked the waitress for gravy and butter for the biscuits that apparently are not served WITH butter there and another iced tea. After ANOTHER 15 minutes as the food is getting cold our waitress was no where to be found and the entire feel of the place is a chaotic mess. I went and asked for a manager who seemed totally nonplussed about our complaint and said "he would see what he could do". Really, again??? I've been a restaurant manager/ bartender for over 30 years and this is not the response I should have gotten. What he should have done was express his total concern at our wait and frustration and hauled his ass into the kitchen to find the server and get what we waiting for. He comes himself with the items we were waiting for. We did not see the waitress again until she came to see if we were ready for the check - not once coming by to actually see how everything was. I blame the management here. There were two humpty dumpty managers standing there goofing around and totally NOT paying attention to the servers, their stations and people being waited on or not. Our waitress seemed like she was hired this morning for a job she had never done before. Slow walking and very lackadaisical. This is not how a server acts or moves when the place is in the weeds. Cracker Barrel needs to talk to these so called managers. On a better note I did give them two stars because the food was Awesome. Every dish on our table was met with smiles and nods. But when your food is ice cold waiting for it to be finished "properly" - you lose points. Again it was the food that got them these lousy two stars. Perhaps the kitchen workers should be made aware of their tasty creations being ruined by a an unacceptable staff and lackey managers. read more

Mis-managed. Management cannot handle high volume or peaks in business. Poor scheduling, poor customer service, and after finding hair in my food, I get "I'm sorry, want me to make you something else?" Never will eat there again! This is a health department issue and all I was offered was a new meal! The waitress ignored me for 10 minutes, then said they ran out of biscuits, offered me cornbread then I never saw her again. I had to flag down another girl to point out the hair. Then the manager came over and solidified my theory that she is in the wrong field. Restaurant management is not her forte! read more

A little late getting to this, but here we go. Last weekend, my father and I took my Mom here for a late Mother's Day dinner. I have been to Cracker Barrel a few times before, and it's always been good. This time was probably the best one yet. Our waitress Christina was top notch, offering wonderful service with cheerfulness and an infectious smile. The food was excellent, and we couldn't have asked for a better time. Christina was even nice enough to comp the dessert as they were out of what was originally asked for. Top notch service. I will definitely be back again soon, and implore anyone who is there to ask for Christina to serve you, you will not be disappointed. Other than that, you all know the drill, the store on the other side is always worth a look to find something to take home, whether it be candy, soda, a T shirt, or other collectible. read more

Had breakfast here yesterday morning and then again this morning., When my server arrived at the table, I ordered coffee with cream and placed my food order at same time. When my breakfast arrived, I had to ask where my coffee was when the server ask if I needed anything else! She brought my coffee and dropped off my ticket saying she would be back to check on me, but never saw her again and never received a refill on my coffee! read more

Absolutely disappointing and poor experience. Let me begin, I understand times are different right now, we are all adjusting. However, 'adjusting', does not mean we lose basic manners. I brought my mother in today for breakfast, her request as it is her birthday, only to have my mom disrespected. Our waitress Alexa was very rude, never once looked us in the face, we asked her to bring biscuits and cornbread which she responded "well you want them right now?". She brings them out with out with food, missing the cornbread, we ask for some and she says "now you want cornbread too?" As if we didn't ask, also VERY insulting. My mother cuts into her pancake and it's filled with batter, completely raw. At this point we call over the manager who apologizes while giving excuses, whatever. We wait over 10 minutes for our check- server never comes back. We decide to ask the hostess for our check when our waitress meets us at the podium, hands my mother the check, and very rudely says "we took the pancakes off" and walks away. Yes, we are in a pandemic, but the way my mother and I were treated today was unacceptable. Will not be going back read more
