The only reason I am going 2 stars is because the place really IS cozy. I love the ambiance. Unfortunately I can not say the same for the food. The food is medicore at best. Frozen product, limited selection and stale bread. It's not the greatest service either. Not friendly, actually kind of cold. MMMMMMMUCH better food, AND friendly staff only blocks down at Nick' s and Elieos. read more

Good place for breakfast. Small place. About 10 seats at the counter and maybe six booths big enough for 4 people. I've been a here a couple times on weekends and never had a problem getting a table. Prices are fair and the food is decent. I like the French Toast. The waffles are a bit dense for my taste. Bacon is good--thick and crispy. Eggs are good, but nothing special. Pancakes are huge and fluffy. read more

Nothing fancy. Solid breakfast food at a reasonable price. The scrambled eggs were perfect -- fluffy and moist. Sausage was grilled well. Waffle is spongier than I would have liked but tasted good. read more

This is a classic mom and pop type of diner tucked away next to the dollar tree and doesn't even have its name on the sign. The food was good for the most part: eggs over medium and sausages were fantastic. The waffle was chewy and tasted cold and not fresh. The French toast were pretty good. The service was not bad, just not friendly or personable. The coffee was burnt tasting and they only had white sugar as an option. This place is good for the price and the savory dishes. read more

No, I can not give more than three stars to this place, even though the service is nice and the prices are okay. Nor could I see myself going back often even though it's so close to home. I am at a loss for a descriptive reason that highlights how Cozy Kitchen is anything but your slightly less than average little dinner. The food here is greasy plain dull and devoid of any redeeming qualities that would make me want to eat here very often at all. It's right next to the dollar store and a bunch of other cool stops, but this place is just a run of the mill in between food stop. I may have to go back and see if anything changes, but until then it's just a three star greasy reminder of heartburn. CHAD read more

Best breakfast and lunch spot in all of San Leandro. My favorite secret hole in the wall. I almost dont want to write a review to keep them all to myself. (American Diner food) read more

Good friendly place to go there to dine. It does feel cozy. We hit the spot last weekend with the family. No complaints for us. We are happy! read more

I'll admit I've been sleeping on this teeny little diner for the decade-plus that I've lived in SL. My hubby has been here and I always see it when we hit up my local Dollar Tree. Last week, I decided I needed a bigger breakfast than usual after a training run. The little one and I hit up two usual Manor breakfast spots and lines were out the door. I pondered heading downtown but then decided to finally check out Cozy Kitchen. We entered this quaint little coffee shop. It was busy but we managed to snag a booth near the door. I ordered the Avocado and Cheese Omelette which came with hash browns and toast. Omelette was so good; my daughter plans to order it next time. Food was simple and delicious. Service was quick and solid. Definitely a less crowded option on busy weekend mornings! read more

Best Breakfast!!! Ran by an older asian couple, who are very kind and humble. I had the spinach, mushroom and cheese omellete with a side of bacon and coffee. Fresh food, great service and nice atmosphere. Great way to start my Saturday! Will be coming back soon!!! read more

By far one of the best breakfast joints in San Leandro. The cook can whip up the most delicious eggs, bacon and hash browns! For the price, you will be amazed at how yummy your breakfast is! It's a small family run restaurant, it's small but well worth it. We go there multiple time per month. Love! Love! Love! read more

Cute little breakfast nook with good American breakfast! My family enjoys this place for the good sized portions and price. The owners are I believe a husband and wife and they are very friendly! I have gone twice and their hash browns are so good and not greasy like other places! They also have really good French toast! read more

My husband and I always come here for breakfast on our days off! It's a small place owned by a sweet couple. We love their omelette and the hashbrown is always on point!! Good service and good food :) read more

It's a very nice and cozy place but the food is below average the service wasn't that good and the lady at the counter kept looking at me while I ate my food which was a little disturbing I do not recommend this place if you want good food and good service head down to Elios which is a block away read more

I have been going here for a awhile the food is ok sometimes and others not so great but it was in our neighborhood I Believe we should support our business I have seen the owners wife get angry at people if they send food back but i never believed it would happen to me I always left a great tip even if the food was not that great that day . However today I ordered waffles and an egg the waffle was was hard and the egg was cooked hard so I told the wife of the owner about this she told him to cook the egg but the waffle was ok I told it was hard she said we will change it cannot give you money back I told her I was going to pay for it anyway but she is very rude if you tell her that you don't like the food we are no longer going to return I wouldn't send anything back if I were you read more

This has a wrong location on the map. It's actually across the St from where your map shows it. Currently your map shows it next to the Valero, but is in fact next to the dollar store. You can see the right location on google. Help these nice people get it right so they don't miss out on customers. Thanks yelp! Ps breakfast was good!! read more

Blechh...let me count the ways: no cream for the coffee (only milk), "Swiss cheese" in their veggie omelet was Kraft Slices Swiss cheese food, pancakes were tough, and toast wasn't toasted. I usually just go on Yelp to find places to eat, but I just had to write a review about this place! This is my new "go to" place for breakfast/lunch. I have been craving for a quick, inexpensive, and good breakfast restaurant and decided to try Cozy Kitchen in San Leandro. I was greeted by the friendly waitress (who is also the owner named Jenny) and seated promptly. The food came out quick and hot... and let me tell you... the hash browns... the pancakes... ARE TO DIE FOR!!! This place would also be perfect cure for hangover =P New favorite place! Thanks to yelp!! read more

5 stars for my experience I go to this place a bbn out 3 times a month, I always order to go because that's my preference, the interior is outdated but the place is clean, service is great , the wife takes my order and brings it to me all pop packed up and ready to go , the food is fresh and home made you can see the Male cooking it, my kid always get a no.1 with blueberry pancakes 2 sausages and a egg rate 9 the pancakes are great I've tried them before. My go to is the French toast special comes with sausage oland 2 eggs rate a 8 and my husband go to is the bacon omelet its huge and come with hashbrowns and toast rate 9.5, the only issue I have is the never cook our eggs right we usually order over medium and they come out over well so we now just order over easy and they come out medium the way we like the. You can also order ahead for to go orders. read more

Not a bad place. Quiet, not crowded. Typical mom and pop shop. Prices good, food is decent

I love this place. I dine in and call in orders all the time. The French toast is amazing. Everything is cooked to order and the married couple that owns the place is so nice and friendly. I wish they were opened on Sundays but they are not "Not open on the Lord's Day" as their to-go menu says. The prices are reasonable and you get a big portion of food for the little price you pay. Cozy Kitchen, is the perfect name for this restaurant. It's in the cuts of a shopping center and you would miss it, if your're not paying attention. read more

Not bad at all. Pretty small decent service. Good food.Still like the fifth wheel better....

Came in at 2PM on a Saturday. Scrambled eggs were perfect, coffee was decent, service was spot on. Excellent place for breakfast if you are a late riser. If you aren't craving chicken fried steak (not on the menu), I'd call it better than manor, since nothing was too fluffy or too dry. read more

I go there a lot. Friendly, fresh, LG portions, and the chorizo omelet the Cozy Special is absolutely off the hook.

Menu selection is limited, but what they do they do well. The place is quaint and quiet. If you are looking for a relaxed friendly place to have breakfast, enjoy the Cozy Kitchen. read more

Affordable but really good and thats a combination thats hard to see now a days. Quantity as well as quality... Though the place is a little small compare to other diners and tucked in along washington grimey shopping center... Whats inside is what matters... Really good traditional breakfast menu read more

Ok, I secretly want to either not post this review or lie and say this place sucks. Why? Because it is super tiny and I love that I don't have to wait for the awesome breakfast I finally disovered. This is the local hole-in-the-wall I've been looking for for years. So why, having seen it for 8 or 9 years, did I never venture in? Because I'm an idiot, apparently. My husband tried it out with a co-worker earlier this week and called me to rave about it. We made a date this Saturday morning and I was not disappointed - well... I ordered the blueberry pancakes and bacon, both of which kicked ass! These were the best blueberry pancakes I can recall ever having in a diner and they do not skimp on the berries. The bacon was not gourmet but of a higher quality than average and you can tell they press it on the grill, which I like. Also, the coffee was good and carried such a jolt I was about to chew my tongue off halfway through the second cup. I will always comment on the cleanliness of a place because that is paramount to my deciding to return. In fact, I've walked in and out of many places based just on my first impression of smell. But I'm not a snob, really. Despite the fact that this joint likely has not updated anything since possibly the 40s or 50s if you look closely you'll notice it is impeccably clean. Like, impeccably. So why 3 stars? -We had to ask for water and when it came the glasses were small, about 6 oz. and no ice. It took us a long time for a refill. They don't bring a pitcher they take your glass and disappear with it. You don't know if it will return. -They provided milk/creamer in the little pitcher thing but I think it only had about 3 tablespoons it it. That's all you get. It is not refilled. I suppose I could have asked but the pancakes were more important at the time. -The place is a dive. Perfectly :) They also serve lunch, I don't remember about dinner. I will absolutely be back for breakfast and I would like to try their lunch. I'll bring my own milk if I have to. read more

I used to go to this place all the time for breakfast. its not always the best but ok. I usually don't complain about my food but, I ordered over medium eggs and they came over hard. I told her about it and she a took an attitude . she is not the friendliest but I'm not the one screwed up my food. I'm done with this place read more

Me and my son were in the area, he was hungry - and wanted pancakes. Checked Yelp on my phone, searched for pancakes - found Cozy Kitchen. We gave it a try, and were pretty pleased. It's a very small (cozy) place, very classic... even the stereo was from the 60's... but their food was quite good (for basic, classic breakfast). Eggs, toast, linguisa for me, short stack for him. All very good. Very nice people too. Glad to know we have a spot in San Leandro now. read more

I'm always suggesting that we have breakfast here. It is indeed a cozy kitchen! The waitress is very nice. The food is between OK and good. The price is right. I like the place! Yeah, it's seen better days and could be remodel led, but maybe it'd lose it's charm? No, keep everything as it is. It's a peaceful place to read a newspaper over coffee, flapjacks and eggs and bacon. The overall the experience is good and I'd rather go there than any Denny's or any other place. read more

I've been here at least 8x, only because when my client craved breakfast food, she would suggest this place...and because I am obliging, I tagged along. Every single time we visited, the female owner, who is also sometimes the cook and the server, was always unfriendly to my client and I. She has this pasty expression. She never asks how you are, she never smiles, she never says thank you...her presence is an anathema. I sound harsh, but the last time I ate here because I personally craved a linguica omelette, she really put the icing on the cake. I normally ignore her sparkling personality, but this time, my elderly friend actually said something (not me)...that this person was not only rude, but cold. She didn't even ask us what kind of toast we wanted. She just slapped down this bland, stone ground tasting wheat bread with hardly any butter. She never checked on us at all. She gave me the wrong change and then disappeared. When we left, she didn't say goodbye or thank you or smiled. I told her directly that my friend didn't appreciate her being unfriendly. Needless to say, no more linguica omelettes for me. And I can live with that. read more

I feel that the food is very good, but..the owners are very rude. Once I orderd a BLT and asked for extra mayo and the owner came over with a knife filled with mayo and slapped it on my plate. It seems like if you don't go in there alot they really want nothing to do with you! read more

Had a strange and somewhat awkward experience here this morning at the Cozy Kitchen. I have never been here before and I very much wanted to like the place. When I first walked in I wasn't greeted at all and didn't know if I had to seat myself or needed to wait to be seated. After a while I decided to seat myself. The lady then came behind the counter and placed a menu on the table without saying anything at all or even ask me if I wanted anything to drink and just walked off. I asked her if I could get an additional menu because I was meeting with an additional party and she stopped and then proceeded to keep walking as if she didn't hear me and didn't come back. After a couple minutes I got up and left. I can't comment on the food, because I never got the chance to order anything, but the Cozy Kitchen can definitely improve on their customer service and do a better job making their customers feel welcomed! read more

Cozy's has been around since i was just a little girl. Almost my whole life. I remember Jenny and Dave (the owners and people who run the place) cooked breakfast for my aunts entire wedding party of about 30 people the day of her wedding. We have been going there faithfully every weekend ever since. It is a small cozy laid back, family oriented place. The food is amazing. They have had the same small menu for years and years and have really perfected everything on it! The hasbrowns are to die for and once you try them you'll never want to try any other hashbrowns again in your life! From their omelets to their blueberry pancakes they are delicious! This is not a big fancy gourmet place with fancy looking plated plates it is your old fashioned place where the plates look like your granny just cooked up that home cooked meal and served you! This place has been in business for years and mainly serves their local patrons. Jenny and Dave are spectacular at remembering their customers and even what their regular customers like to order. When my family goes there jenny knows exactly what we all are going to order! now that is the way a local family restaurant should be! read more
