Ok here I go. This is for sure going to be my longest review so please bare with me. The only reason why I went to this place to begin with is because it's across the street from my favorite pool store. I just happened to see it and didn't check for reviews. What a big mistake!The old man assisting us seemed ok at first, he was even cracking jokes, but then I noticed he was getting annoyed when I asked him for different colors and styles. And when I asked him for a shirt his answer was "a shirt is a shirt " as he rolled his eyes. Then he told my son he was going to have to imagine the vest on. I thought he was joking and laughed but then I realized he wasn't , and said no, he would like to try it on please. He yelled at me from across the room " Come on, come on !". I kept my cool ( thinking wow! what a grumpy, rude old man). However, I told my son to just change because we were going somewhere else. Then the old man came back with a vest and with an attitude he said "here!" and handed my son the vest. While we were there, there was only one other person in the store who walked in to pick up his prom tuxedo. So I guess he was overwhelmed with "two" customers. Just because he was old an we all know how old people sometimes become grumpy, I didn't want to be disrespectful so I told him my son will come back with his girlfriend to make sure the tuxedo and accessories match her dresses, since they have 2 proms. The man's answer was to make sure he knows what he wants because he can't try everything on because everything he tried on had to be dry cleaned according to covid regulations.... O.....k. That is not my problem, tuxedo rentals are expensive. So I finally told him not to worry about him because my son was not going back. I told him, calmly, that he needed to have patience with his customers, we can't just go and get an outfit for a very special day without trying it on and making sure that it's what we want and that it fits nicely. He said he's been in the business for over 50 years, he got in my face trying to intimidate me and said I was rude. To be honest, I really felt like pushing him but Instead I took a step back and told him he was the rude one, and maybe that was the problem, he's been doing it for too long and it was time for him to retire. I walked out as he was yelling I don't know what. By then my blood pressure was trough the roof. Wow! what a bad experience. The good news is that right after I left that shit hole, I went to a store in Rutherford and got everything my son needs for his 2 proms. What a difference! Thank goodness for that. So, since I can't give 0 stars I'm giving it 1. I just read other reviews, I wish I would've done it before walking into that nightmare. read more

Was recommended by a friend for my sons tux. He was invited to a sweet 16. I got nervous when it was 3 days before the event and I hadn't heard about the final fitting, but 2 days before the event, they came through, and my son looked amazing in his purple and black tux. Great, quick, and easy experience as far as our first rental. Will be back for prom in May. read more

The owner Ralph was EXTREMELY rude towards my son getting fit for his prom, Ralph is the true definition of a jack*$$. I seriously recommend that you go elsewhere, if your looking for professionalism. We arrived at the business at 515pm and got serviced at 650pm. I addressed his behavior at which time he snapped advising my son and I that he's been in business for over 50 years and he was going to teach us a lesson. I wonder what he meant by that ? I thought that this would be a pleasant experience for my son however, the actions and Ralph's behavior was sickening. My friend chose Cozy for the tuxedos for his wedding. I went there to get measured when I was in town (I live in Chicago). Because I was flying in for the wedding, a friend picked up the tux for me and brought it to the hotel where the wedding was being held. Upon putting on my tux I realized a few things. 1. Button replacements were MISSING, 2. A button had popped off the vest. 3. The pants were 3 inches too long, 4. The jacket sleeves were a full 2 inches too long. There was no time to return before the wedding, so I had to wear the poor looking tuxedo. Upon returning the tux, I explained the problems to the owner(or manager) of the stop, who proceeded to tell me that it was my fault. (Apparently I forgot to have his staff put the botton replacements in the bag?) After asking him for compensation, he got in my face in a threatening manner and told me to get out of his store. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Many of the other groomsmen had problems with their tux's. read more

We went into cozy formal wear in Nutley for a wedding the old man measured us rather quickly I even said to him that was fast you sure you got all the measurements he looked at me with a smile and said I have been doing this since the Stone Age. When we picked up our Tuxedos and tried them on at the store nothing fit our pants were three inches too short our sleeves on our jackets were either too long or short our shirts were too small, well mr. Stone Age you suck not one of the 8 tuxedos were correct I think you need to have your eyes checked Mr. Magoo a total Fiasco he don't even get us the correct vest how could you skrew that up you old cranky bum. Well instead of being apologetic for his F-up he had an attitude look you old dirty guy you F-up don't give us attitude. If you choose this place and you happen to get this guy ask for someone else if there is no one else go somewhere else avoid this old cook at all costs he will mess your whole order up. He said he was the owner if that true he should retire sit under a rock and feed the squirrels because he is awful not just with getting stuff correct but nasty. horrible!!!! I sent my 17 year old son here for prom thinking he'd be safe getting a suit. the initial fitting went well, not the best fit, but did the job for the affordable price. They suggested coming a day or two before his event to ensure the fit was right. We showed up two days prior and a nasty old gentleman said the suit would not be available until the next day "a lot of events at the moment". Then recommended me contacting the other stores in NJ for stock just in case they did not receive it the next day. Offered no help contacting the other locations. This did not work out. And the worst part is the next day we showed up and they still had nothing that fit my son. He was forced to attend his prom with pants 2 sizes too large, a shirt 1 size too small, and a vest that did not match the initial color. HORRIBLE. Please do not risk an event that means a lot to you or a family member renting from this shit hole. I cannot even imagine a wedding, or another significant event an running into a similar issue. The absolute worst part is, they did not issues us a refund and said we did not have "proof" the initial suit we tried on was the same. Horrible folks here, avoid! read more

This is long overdue review. My husband and i got married 3 yrs ago and after having terrible service at another location we ventured to Ralphs Cozy Formal Wear. He was more fantastic from start to end. He let us take samples from wall and let try every combination without any pressure or time limit. Anytime i called him; he was ready to help. we had a small issue for size, they even travel across city to help. Everything was taken care of and our tuxedo's were at time. I felt like this guy was just for me when we needed him! read more

Someone I know recomended I go to Cozy in Nutley. I went in looking for a tuxedo for a company event I had. I was greeted by Ralph The owner who recommended some styles, after 1/2 hour I chose a style he took my measurements, everything was ok I came in to p/u my tuxedo the night before my event and we had a problem it's not what I picked along comes Ralph telling me that he couldn't get what I wanted on so you had a week from the time I ordered to the time I picked up where u could have told me no not this genius waits till the last day when I pick it up so now I am pissed but whatever too late now so I try the damn thing on and it doesn't fit pants to big jacket too small shirt dirty great this idiot couldn't even get the measurements correct, at this point I am furious but trying to remain calm this jerk gets an attitude with me so now I lose it listen you ass you couldn't get what I wanted and you didn't get my measurements correct why do u have the attitude I paid you 290 for something I didn't order and it doesn't fit. you would think this idiot would be a little humble since he skrewd this all up instead he was arrogant unapologetic so FU Ralph you old bastard you are a terrible business man with no people skills. I've only been in to get a few different fire department jackets made up. Every time I have dealt with Ralph. I must say he spends all the time necessary and he isn't in a rush to finish you up. He will accommodate a single item, to as many as your group would need. His turnaround time (even during Christmas) is quicker than I expected. Looking around the shop there seems to be a good amount of tuxedo choices to look at/try on and the store is very well maintained and clean. There is a good size parking lot in back so if you had a wedding party etc, it could probably easily fit 15 cars. read more

My husband rented a tux for a black tie wedding. When he picked it up, they only had him try on the jacket and pants. Saturday night as he was getting dressed for the wedding, he tried to put on the shirt which was an inch too small in the neck, and the sleeves were 2 inches too short. Had to quickly get a plain white dress shirt as Cozy's closes at 4:00. Returned the tux today and asked for a partial refund. Was told by the owner that my husband "is not telling you the truth as all of the tux is tried on." Sent my husband in and he offered to try on the shirt right now. Needless to say this did not go over well, and we received no satisfaction. Moral is YELP reviewers had it right, DO N OT GO HERE. read more

Had a horrible experience with this place! We rented 6 sets of tuxedos from this place! Two of them were not the right size. When we picked them up and saw that the pants and jackets were too tight, and that the sleeves were too short. We requested for another size. They said that they "couldnt do anything about it". What?! These guys have no idea what they're doing. How can you mess up the measurements. Even if you did mess it up, a tuxedo rental place should at least be able to fix the problem on the day of the pick up. They pretty much said: 'Here are your tuxedos with the wrong measurements. We know they dont fit perfect but go away and deal with it because we cant do anything about it since it's really not ours. We're just borrowing it also'. The store manager, Ralph, is also hardheaded. You can tell him what YOU (the customer) want the suit to look like, suggest which ties to use or what not, but he'll just tell you: "I've been doing this for 30 years. I think I know what I'm doing." Yeah sure, Buddy. Get your place together. Your assistants are horrible. Tell them to measure five times before annotating it on paper. And if they're measurement is correct, I'm pretty sure that the suit will still come out with an incorrect length adjustment somewhere along the process. Way to go. I would never recommend this place. Avoid the headache. read more

Ralph and his crew were very helpful and flexible in our needs for our wedding. I had many members of the groom party who lived out of town and Ralph worked with them in getting their measurements. One the day of the wedding our tuxes all fit and there weren't any mix ups, including the 3 year old ring bearer's tux. Horrible experience. Took a good 45 mins to measure just on first fitting. 2nd fitting should have been a piece of cake. Nope! Jacket too small, shirt didn't even go around neck. If I could give a zero rating, I would. A close friend's family spent half a day trying on suits for an upcoming wedding and just when they were ready to check out, the owner came out screaming and ranting inappropriate and very racist things - including that they should cancel the wedding. The worst part is that two small children were present and witnessed their family being abruptly and without any cause, chased out of the store. I am absolutely appalled at this behavior. No one who is capable of this should own a business and no one looking for any formal wear for their special events should bother stepping into this horrific establishment. read more

Absolutely horrible tuxedo experience. The owner, Ralph, is nice when you come in to order the tuxedo and promises to deliver what you ask for. What you get upon pickup is an ill-fitting tux. We had 7 rentals and 5 had problems....the worst being the groom! Shirts, shoes, jackets, pants--all ridiculously too large or way too small. Thankfully, we picked up the tuxedos on Thursday for a Saturday wedding! When we called and returned to Cozy in Nutley, the owner Ralph had a bad attitude and was soooo arrogant. His worker was downright rude. At $175 per tux, I expected better service and delivery. We regret choosing this vendor. The groom had to cancel his tux--and Ralph did refund his money--and run out to the mall where he was able to get a tux that fit him properly. What a nightmare! Horrible, never again. My brother in law warned me not to go there and I'm sorry I did. Went today to pickup my tux. Everything was wrong. The pants had to be hemmed twice. The vest I picked out they didn't have in my size. The salesman wanted me to wear a tie that did not match. In regards to the pants being to short the salesman asked if I had the same shoes that I used when I was measured. Is he kidding? One customer walked out and another was complaining about no one helping her. A total nightmare. I should have drove the 20 minutes and went with my brother in law and the bridal party where they went. read more

I u sed to the manager Cozy Formal Wear-in their Wayne location in the late 80's. He is nothing but a spineless wimp, with no balls. NO business integrity whatsoever. Just worried about the CASH. I turned Wayne location to number 2 in the chain, the business was failing. But thru effective customer service, my location was only behind his Morristown store. And by the looks of the reviews, the person that built that location is no longer there. The reason, he was grooming a young punk from Clifton, who's parent's had CASH. The kids buys a location in Union-the place gets raided, and closed down-HA HA HA. It doesn't surprise me that he is down to 2 stores. Pretty soon, he can go on Rt 3 and sell hot dogs read more

Absolutely disgusted with the service and follow up. We reserved a tux for my son with two shirts and a matching vest and tie for me (I own my own tux) for use on a cruise. My wife picked it up and he tried on the tux. She never thought to check for my vest and tie as I wasn't there and assumed his extra shirt and my best were in the bag. As we are packing the night before we leave, I see the other items are missing. I immediately emailed them asking for a call as soon as they can. I get an email reply that there should have been two separate orders. What does that have to do with me? I don't set up your order process. I tell the sales rep what I want and I didn't get it. I was willing to have one of my employees go to the store and FedEx the best and tie to my father's house (the first port was close to his house) so that we could at least match one night. I never got a call back. Today I get a call looking for the tux (still waiting on someone to call me as requested in my email). I explain my concerns and was given every reason how I did something wrong. 1-The rep said company policy is to have the customer look through the bag. I acknowledged my wife didn't look for my vest, tie or other shirt. We assumed they were competent enough to have put it in the bag. 2-She said I should have called as soon as I realized it wasn't there. I told her I realized it after hours. I did the next best thing by emailing them and posting on their Facebook page. 3-She said email wasn't to be trusted that I should have called. Give me the manager's home number and I will gladly call in the evening after hours. I did the best I could and emailed them and asked that they call me. If email couldn't be trusted then why did I get a simple response saying: an order for a vest only would have been a separate order, so there would be 2 that need to be picked up. sorry for confusion. That and $4.99 gets me a Happy Meal. Had someone truly cared about their customer they would have had the decency to call back. Like I said before, I would have paid for the FedEx shipping to Florida without any hesitation. As a small business owner myself, I value my customers. This place is no different than snake oil salesmen. Steer clear. I believe in supporting local small businesses, but how can one do that when the service they receive is poor? I am very disappointed to write this review. When my husband and I were looking for a place for tuxedos for our wedding we immediately thought of Cozy's. My husband was in a wedding that got tuxes from there and he said their customer service was great. Well, everything was well and good when we went to order the tuxedos for the groom and groomsmen. I had a fabric swatch of what tie color I wanted so the guys could match the girls' dresses and it matched perfectly. However, the color was penciled in, and everyone in the bridal party had the wrong color bow tie except for one. We just had to make due and have the best man wear the correct tie. I was really surprised Cozy's would make such a mistake. Other things-- best man's shirt was tight and the groom's button on his jacket came off. When tuxes were being returned and we addressed these issues, it was also surprising to see how Cozy's reacted. They said the ties was their mistake, but said it wasn't that big of a deal since we ended up getting married regardless. I understand that, but you would think since Cozy's has GREAT customer service, they would at least feel bad and not be so dismissive about the whole thing. read more
