I drove there a hour before closing to place an order and multiple workers told us they close early on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but when i look it up it doesn't say that online nor does it say it in their sign on the door . they need to make it known every where that that's what's going on because we are driving all the way across town to be told we are closed . disappointing . read more

These are top notch burgers. They are definitely in my all-time top tier. I've stopped here a couple of times on road trips through Amarillo, and I look forward to doing it again the next time I get a chance! You can't go wrong with any of the burgers here, TBH. On my most recent visit here I got a chili cheese burger, and the time before that I'm pretty sure I got a green chile burger. My boyfriend got the burger from hell. Everything is good. Wonderful green chile cheese fries. (I'm sure the red are just as excellent.) The location is a dive, for sure, and it would be easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. The restroom is tiny, as other reviewers have mentioned, so be forewarned! But overall I love the quirkiness of the space and the relaxed atmosphere. No waiting, we found the only booth available in this tiny restaurant! We ordered burgers, of course, and iced tea (if we weren't on a road trip, the beer selection looked awesome!) We came here the other night after seeing that it had been on the TV show Man vs. Food on the food network. This was a must try while we were in Amarillo. The location is hard to find if you don't know what your looking for. We drove past it once before realizing that we had past it. It is a pretty small joint and with lots of character. I loved that when you walked in that there was a bathtub full of beer. The waitress told us to sit wherever and to grab whatever we wanted from the tub. We ordered chili cheese fries and green chili cheeseburgers. My hubby wussed out of getting the burger from he'll so the waitress brought him everything on the side to try it. The flavors were on point. It was a little pricy, but the overall atmosphere was what really put this joint on the map. We can't wait to come back and eat our way through the menu. read more

When I first arrived shortly before noon on a chilly Sunday the place looked quiet....and maybe a little shady, but soon after my arrival the place was hopping! While nothing is fancy here and some things looked fairly worn (the furniture, tablecloths, etc.) the vibe inside is vintage cool. One bite of my amazing hickory burger and I instantly understood the hype; that is one delicious burger! Everything is executed well: generously sized, the quality of the lean meat and the toppings, the grilled onions, and the delicious toasted onion bun. Old style, rustic burger joint. A little worn down from the exterior, but the inside is a charm. Lots of dollar bills signed onto the wall, that customers leave behind as memories. Come early or order togo home, cus they run out of seatings fast. ( Fun fact: Coyote Bluff was featured on Man vs. Food ). Living in the Dallas area, fancy burgers are nice and all but one thing lacks - they're tiny. Even when a burger is "big" the meat lacks in juices and the quality decrease, OR you pay a hefty amount. Coyote Bluff will always has a place in my heart, especially for their massive burgers that's packed full of flavor. Here's some tips: -Buns: Here, you can chose from an orginal bun, or an onion bun. The buns here aren't just a fast food joint buger buns, as these are fluffy and chewy and if you get the onion buns, those have delicious little bits of onions baked into the buns. Super aromatic. -Beef: The patties are a full half pound, and you can ask tocook your burger how you like it. If you don't have a specific request, it'll be cooked to a medium well. This allows the patty to still be cooked enough for the picky eaters yet keep the juices in the meat. -Flavors: From experience, my favorites are the Hickory BBQ burger, which has bacon, bbq sauce, and caramelized onions. I also like the Mushroom and Swiss Burger, which has caramelizaed mushrooms and onions, loaded with melty swiss. Both comes with tons of lettuce, slices of tomatoes, and a pepperoncini (green pickled chili pepper) on the side. There's also other items on the menu that aren't burgers, such as steak and fries. If you have a big appetite or came with friends, get the bacon cheese fries. It's plenty enough for two meals for myself. Don't judge the little hole in the wall, it'll surprise you. read more

I wasn't even sure if this place was opened or not until I saw that the 15-20 parking spots were completely full of cars. My friends and I walked inside, surprised to see the place was packed with people. The walls were full of decorations and neon lights. The Food: + Cheese Fries: Huge platter of crispy hot fries drenched in melted cheese with green chilies on top. You can add bacon for $2 more. + The Burger from Hell : It suppose to be the spiciest quarter lb burger (featured on man vs food). Patty mixed with habenero, topped with jalapenos, and drenched in their secret hot sauce. It honestly wasn't as spicy as I thought it was going to be. I can't eat crazy spicy things so for me to say "It wasn't that bad" and I could eat the whole thing without drinking 20 cups of water means something. It was delicious though, and I appreciated the kick. + California Burger: Quarter lb burger topped with grilled onions, green chilis, and guacamole. It was delicious!! No spice at all. I heard about this place from my daughters back in March when I was in town. I didn't know what the big deal was that they were so excited to go there but I filed it away for future reference. When I came back in July it was in the back of my mind to go there but not one of the top places I was heading for. Also it's not that close to where I'm staying and a couple times when I was out that direction it was on a Monday when they were closed. In fact I started to go there one Monday and was disappointed to see they were closed and ended up going across the street to Mama J's instead where I had a very good meal. I finally got back a week or two later and showed up right at 5pm in case there was a crowd. When I walked in there were already only three tables left and by the time I finished ordering I think they were all gone and there started to be a line. I was shocked when my food arrived. The hamburger is huge and I was tickled pink, literally, when I found out I could order the meat cooked however I wanted. There aren't very many places left where you can order a medium-rare hamburger. I ended up getting the Hickory Burger and when I found out the side of fries was only $1.50 I decided to get some of those also. The amount of fries was huge for the price and they were good fries. Not Oh my God I can't wait to come back here good, but definitely good. I had just eaten at another hamburger joint a few days earlier where my hamburger fell apart as I was eating it, Five Guys I think. This hamburger held together great but was twice as much as I could eat especially with the fries. I ended up taking half of everything with me and had it for lunch the next day. It was delicious then too. I was out at 45th and Canyon yesterday renewing my rental car and when I thought about where I would want to eat dinner I realize I was already halfway to Coyote Bluff and I might as well go there since I had wanted to go again. I looked over the menu, then ended up getting the same thing as last time, the Hickory Burger, except this time I didn't get fries because I knew that would be too much food. I still ended up taking half home. I got there about 5:30 and was shocked that there were any seats left especially on a Friday night. They told me to sit anywhere I wanted and again, by the time I got my food there were no seats left and they were starting to take names. So if you want to get a seat right away show up right at 5. I can't speak on lunch because I haven't been there for lunch yet. Again, the hamburger was huge and delicious and cooked just right, nice and red in the middle yet still cooked. This time I knew what I was doing so I cut the hamburger in half with the knife they provided and just figured on taking half back to my room which I ate for lunch today. When you look at the menu it seems like kind of an expensive place for just hamburgers but those hamburgers are more like ordering a steak in terms of size and quality. My meal ended up costing me $10 including tip which is actually less than most of my meals cost in town so I no longer think of it as expensive. I asked how much the onion rings were for future reference and they were 2.50 which was very reasonable. I also asked about the steaks out of curiosity. I'm pretty sure she said the 8oz steak was $14 which is very reasonable if it's as good quality as their hamburgers and it included at least one side. I forget what she said about the largest steak because I knew I wasn't likely to order it. As far as the atmosphere, it's pretty rustic but comes across as very clean and organized. There aren't a lot of seats in the place and the front porch looks like it's falling apart on the outside so definitely don't judge the inside by the outside or you'll miss out on a great experience! read more

We researched places to try on a road trip from SE Missouri to Albuquerque, NM and Amarillo, TX was our stopping point. It's a little hole in the wall but had charm. We stopped in around noon on a Friday and the place looked closed but they were open and we were excited to try it out. We were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever. Our server was extremely nice and very down to earth, she helped us order and was detailed and friendly. We ordered sweet tea to drink, pretty good and served in huge cups, a bit sweet but okay. We got the chile cheese fries with green chile, it is a huge portion, plenty for two or more and served with ranch. I had the burger from hell, I love spicy food and it was just that. The burger was soaked in Tabasco and comes with grilled or sautéed jalapeños among onions, lettuce and tomato, if you want it. So good! My fiancé is not typically into spicy foods but she tried the green chili cheeseburger after trying the fries and liking the spice of the hatch green chiles. She really enjoyed it. The burgers are large, half pound I think and we were able to eat half of ours and took the rest to go. Huge portions and reasonable prices. The place is cute and well run, very clean.
