1 star is still to generous for this store. First the employee that helped me was okay although he did not bring a manager into the situation. He was nice but well programed by his employer. I had a billing issue and none of it made sense, the employee said I owed a different amount then what it said right off their own app I showed to him from my phone? Cox is a con do not use them for either cell phone or internet. I am never going to use them again went from boost mobile to Cox mobile now back to boost, internet is now open in my area to use another service and here i come. I contacted Cox to find reduced rate. Though it was listed on line, they would not provide lower rate to me. I had to stop service. They charged me for another month after service was stopped. I was told by an agent that the credits showing on line should have reduced my bill. I asked for paper bills from last year. I received two with two different charges without the reductions shown on line. Cox claims to care about customers. This a lie! Though I had Cox for several years, they did not help me Or show care for me. I don't believe I owe them anything and am angry they took out a payment after I closed account without my authorization. Honestly I'd give one star, but the employee I dealt with today was friendly, efficient, fast and kind. I have been a cox member for many, many years. When my first interactions with them started prices were a bit high, but manageable. Then they basically forced me into having a house phone with my internet even though I never use a house phone and did not need it. I was told that is the best way to "save" . Fast forward a bit and they stopped the near forced bundling, but their once unlimited internet turned into constant overage charges and it was again like I was forced to go to their unlimited plan which took my bill up another ridiculous amount. I called more than once over the time of my account having to ask for some kind of retention rate which always expired too quick or my bill would skyrocket. This week I had enough when I was told just for internet I'd be paying $160 a month for unlimited. I looked into other options and am now paying $55 monthly at a locked in rate. No overages, no modem, just Wi-Fi. It was way too easy to make the decision to switch. The last few years I have felt like just a dollar amount and it showed when they couldn't offer anything close to my new plan elsewhere. Again, yep stars for the great employee today ( sorry didn't catch his name) and for a clean and organized store. The parking lot sucks and is shared with Home Depot and more. I tried to get a hold of the Cox Store for over a week. Option number 2 will give you a chance to leave a message and a number for a returned call. They won't return your call and I am not even sure if anyone at the store even knows they are getting messages. Heehee. I needed to upgrade my 7 year old modem for internet and my landline. So today I headed to the store right when they opened at 10am. There was already a line out the door down the sidewalk. I wanted to faint! Haha I was in line and a gentleman asked me what I needed and kept each of us in line educated and entertained while we waited. They were actually very fast and friendly! It wasn't a bad experience at all. 5 people in front of me and I was there maybe 5 minutes. I took the modem home and it lit up but wasn't working. On the phone they couldn't get it to respond. I went back to the store and exchanged it. Even a longer line and I still was there no more than 5 minutes. I had the same issue with the modem not working so I called Cox and they scheduled a tech to come out the first thing the following morning. He told me the particular phone/Internet modem they gave me has to be turned on at the house first and then added to the account so you will always have to have a tech come out for this particular phone/home modem. He came and left in a jiffy. It was cool he also installed a new phone cable for me that wasn't broke at the tip, was longer, and had a neutral color so it blended in with our office better and was way more functional. It was kind of annoying no one knew about the modem set up in advance at the store or on the phone with tech support, but it was resolved fast. Even the guy who kept us informed in line who was a installer as well didn't even know about the set up. Equipment turns over fast I suppose in the digital world so by the time word gets out something new will be replacing it. No issues at the store at all. I have been thru hell with Cox for the last two days. I ordered to have my existing internet, Contour TV WITH DVR subscription , and home phone moved to my new home in total,, no changes. I take all the boxes and equipment over to my new place and install without any problems. I check my DVR device and none of my planned or existing recordingss were there. I tried to set up a new recording and a blue button appears on the screen with line thru it and the words "DVR subscription required to record". I "chatted" with someone for an hour to no avail. I had to leave so this morning I tried the DVR and I get the same message and no DVR. I tried it a couple of times and then the tv goes blank.... My fitters and everything else worked except fo the TV. Chatted again for an hour and now there is a tech coming tomorrow with the threat of a possible $100 charge. I went into a Cox store in Surprise to see what could be done. NOTHING!! All he said was? I see an order for the DVR subscription, check it when I get home, except the TV isn't working. I did not have a good experience with Cox service, so I did not expect to have a good experience at this store. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this store and the service I received here. I recently moved to Surprise from Las Vegas and did not take Cox with me. Except I did take their router, ugh. So I had ten days to return it, but I got sick with COVID and was unable to do so for obvious reasons. However, my quarantine is now up and I was able to return the router today. I did not expect there to be any sort of wait at the store, however, upon arriving, I was added to the queue and was number eight. Gage approached me and asked how my day was going and I curtly replied something along the lines of "it would be great if I wasn't here." He knew that I was only there to drop off this router, as opposed to a more time costly reason, such as picking up equipment or negotiating a bill, like others in the line. Gage worked some kind of magic and got me to the front of the line to drop off my router, which I seriously appreciated. Without his help, I probably would have had to wait at least an hour. Not this store. Just Cox in general. Today is April 11th, 2023. I ordered home internet last year. November 5th 2 guys came out and they said Cox would need to bore under the 2 lane road and pull wire from across the street. Great I said , there are 30 or more potential homes that could benefit from this as well. City permits were cleared in January. After multiple calls as to why no progress was being made, and Cox just sending out installers who can do nothing without the bore work happening, I canceled my request for service. On the anniversary date, our monthly bill increased $110. We decided it was time to kick cable to the curb and go with streaming and pay a fraction of the price. Granted, its not as easy and we're still learning the "how tos". I got on the Cox Surprise website and called the store. As directed, I pushed #2 to speak with a person. After a few rings it went to voice mail with a, "we will call you back as soon as we can, please tell us the purpose of your call"? I said to the recorder, "we have decided to cancel our subscription, please call me back or text me with a list of items that I need to return". No call back. Checking my phone records, I made three calls throughout the day. Each one went to VM and no returned call. Looking at the store's website, it was posted that they were open until 7 PM. I arrived at 6:38, the door was locked and I saw three men in the store talking. I assume they were employees. They waved me away, and I could read their lips, "we're closed". I said, "your website says your open until 7:00". One of the guys said, "it must be one of the other Cox stores". I said, "no, your website says 7:00". He said, "must be the one on Bell and 58th". I could see that they we're not going to budge on the hours. By now it was 6:40 and I had to travel east on Bell Road for nine miles. I got to the other Cox store at 6:55 and was nicely greeted. The $110 jump in price motivated our move away from Cox. The lack of customer service at the Surprise store cemented our decision. This is not about a certain person or Cox store but more about the service they provide specifically internet and its download speed. So I've been sitting watching my screen because I'm downloading a update for my Xbox and I've noticed that my download speed was really low, (average around 10mbs) so I reset my modem to see if that would fix the problem of being slow! But no it didn't, it still is on average around 10mbs and I am paying for the ultimate package that advertises upload speeds of up to 30mbs. I have yet to see it hit 30mbs it hit 20mbs for about 1 second but fluctuates around 3 mbs to 12 mbs I just think its crazy that we pay more for a service and never get to the speeds that are advertised. Its going to take 3 hours for an update! Thats crazy! read more

I've had Cox service for 3 months.. one of my cable box's would not reset so I took it into David in the Surprise branch.. I was there the second it opened all the sales folks were seriously so gracious.. Especially David. Kudos to whom ever runs that particular branch.. outstanding customer service. I returned home and plugged in my new box but it still would not connect to the Cox (new) remote.. I called the national service line. OMG The girl was reading how to reset the cable straight out of the book! She knew absolutely nothing and after 2.5 hours! On the dang phone she had the nerve to ask me if I put the batteries in correctly! I sternly said "send a tech". She booked it for the following day. She stated I may have to pay a service charge.. I simply said your equipment or all the "100" codes she gave me was the companies issue! not mine so I BET I won't be paying. The tech showed up the following day punched in 928 ( a 3 digit code) and hit set up on the remote and boom! I had service. The idiot on the phone was telling me to punch in a 5 digit code! 2.5 hours of wasted time I will never get back. Cox ! Literally one of the worst experiences with setup and customer service ever. I've been on a call with them for 30 minutes because I received an email that says "Something is wrong with your order." No one knows what's going on and then I am transferred without any heads up to another customer service person who has no idea why I was transferred. I was also told I wouldn't have to pay rental fees on my equipment with a 2 year contract and surprise, surprise... I pick up the equipment and I'm told I have to pay. This is the most frustrating company I've ever dealt with in my life. Since I moved and transferred my service I haven't been able to access my new account online or on the app. I've called tech support numerous times with no help. 2 of those times I got transferred to a different department and was immediately hung up on. If Cox didn't somehow have this area monopolized I would literally go with ANY other provider. To this day I've been on hold for no less than 40 minutes per call and my issue still isn't resolved. To top it all off my 150mbps service will see peaks of 40mbps but usually average a disgraceful 3-5mbps. If you have other options i'd absolutely save yourself the trouble and go with another company. Also for the first 3 weeks living in my new house I was using my phones hotspot and was getting way better download speed lol read more

No complaint with individual Cox personnel, as everyone we've dealt with has been polite and helpful as they were able, but the quality of internet, cable and phone service in Surprise is unbelievably poor! We had Cox in San Diego before relocating and had nothing but good experiences, however ever aspect of the service here has been horrific. Spotty cell reception even in central Phoenix area. Even worse inputting areas. Terrible cable reception with frequent resets required and trying to use DVD is a waste of time. So the internet slowed to a crawl on all our devices. A tech came here, worked for about an hour without solving the problem, claimed it was our problem even though it affects multiple unrelated websites and multiple devices, then complained to us that "another tech would have left after five minutes." So now our internet doesn't work, my wife can't finish her work, and Cox claims it's not their problem. Really? Multiple devices on multiple websites and all of them started having problems at exactly the same time? Obviously there's an underlying issue. I have been a Cox subscriber for 2 weeks and I could not be more disappointed. I know, 2 weeks isn't that long and even seems to weaken my case, but check it out... I am 51 years old. And I've been around for the entire ride--seen it all! Yep... saw the early 80's wall-mount phones, VCR's and TV's you changed channels by hand! In the late 80's I actually recorded my (now 30-year-old) daughter's birth on a shoulder-mount VHS camcorder. Early 90's, 20lb, 2 hand cellphone--had one. Late 90's beepers & early 2000's dial-up (12 hours to download a movie!)... saw that too. "Streaming"? Forget. About. It! I have seen it all! And now, in 2018 (and in a mere 2 weeks!) Cox Internet Service has made me pine for the speed of 2003-era Internet! We've been in the Chicagoland area our entire lives and have ALWAYS had to choose between excellent providers (comparatively speaking) and none of them were as bad as the crappy internet service that Cox Cable has "provided" in just our FIRST 2 weeks. If you have a choice... choose ANYTHING other than Cox Cable in the Phoenix, AZ area unless spotty, 2003-era dial-up is your thing! read more
