I was told I would get my second month free when I transferred from Verizon. I was also told to complete a survey about my experiences with Consumer Cellular. I completed the survey with all positive responses. I do like the company and my service. However, after not getting my second month free (I finally called after 5 months), I was told that since I completed the survey and received a $20 credit, that voided my claim for the second month free promo. That is really, REALLY slimy. Sorry, really left a very bad taste in my mouth. Lesson: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES COMPLETE A SURVEY IF YOU HAVE BEEN ALSO PROMISED ANY OTHER PROMOTION BECAUSE YOU WILL LOSE THE OTHER PROMOTION. I switched carriers away from CC. Glad I did because CC canceled my account without telling me it was LOCKED. So my eSim is not confirmed. Hours later, I haven't had cell service from either carriers. Meaning I have NO PHONE OR TEXT messaging!!! COnsumer Cellular is responsible for unlocking. So I can't get into my bank account to pay a bill tonight nor apply for a new job that closes at midnight tonight because they are set up for "Authentification method" to my phone. They said they escalated it to a supervisor which can take 72 hours!!! NO PHONE FOR 72hrs!!! Imagine that? Can't call my 90 yr old mother! Can't connect with friends over our weekend plans! I helped my dad switch service to consumer cellular and it was the worst experience we've ever had! Two months of non stop spam calls with no spam blocker option without paying for it! My dad was getting 45 to 50 calls a day starting at 6 in the morning! That is absolutely ridiculous. Then they told him he had to buy a new phone in order for the calls to stop. They told us we got the first month free but then when we called for the switch code for his phone number and it's a post paid service so they said we still owed money for the previous month so in reality they just screwed us all around! It's cheap for a reason people. Absolutely do not recommend!! read more

Unfortunately I did not get the salesman's name, but he was wonderful. I am visiting my Dad who is 93 and he needed a new phone. We arrived at the store and the sales rep pretty much immediately knew the problem was my dad, not the phone. Then he went on to show him how to solve the problems on his phone. Do not join Consumer Cellular. They offer an unlimited plan, but it's very much limited. So much so, that they disabled my web services for "excessive use." How can an unlimited plan have excessive use? They shouldn't use the word unlimited to label this level of service. I've contacted the FCC to report this fraud. I recently switched two phones to Consumer Cellular. I gave them the IMEI number prior to changing service and was told they were both compatible. One phone was down for a week which was a business line, but it was eventually resolved. The second phone needed a physical SIM card that it took two weeks to get and in the meantime, I was being billed for service. After getting the physical SIM card I was on the phone with Consumer Cellular for over an hour at which time they finally said the phone's not compatible with our network. You'll have to buy a new one from us. That's called a baiting switch. Now the second line isn't working and it belongs to a 78 year-old disabled woman who lives alone and now has no contact with the outside world. I can't describe how absurd that level of service is. I called a manager at Consumer Cellular and spoke to a person named Mercer. He said that there was nothing he could do about that. I asked him who could. He said he could, but he wasn't going to because they didn't do anything wrong. I replied yes you did. You told me the phone was compatible. I went ahead with the switch and now you're telling me I have to buy a new phone from you. So basically you lied. He said we didn't lie. We just don't guarantee that the phones will be compatible. I ask him if there is a reason that when they tell the new customer, the phones are compatible they don't mention that they're not guaranteeing that. But then, of course they wouldn't be able to force people into buying a new phone from them now would they? And again he said we didn't do anything wrong so basically they might as well have said I don't care what your problems are. I don't care if we've left you without phone service. I don't care if we've now cost you more money. He wouldn't even credit us for the shipping charges for the new phone which we're paying full price for. We didn't need a new phone. So they basically cost us additional money when the whole point of switching to Consumer Cellular was to save money. I guess they figure it doesn't matter if a customer is unhappy there's plenty more of them out there. Well guess what that reservoir of more people is going to dry up if you keep treating people like that, and my guess is it happens a lot. I had Consumer Cellular years ago and I loved them. This has been the most awful business I have ever dealt with. We got phones before going to Seattle. We had ZERO gps while there. Seattle has NO consumer stores and NOBODY could help us in their "customer service" dept. We had no choice but to go back to our old cell carrier. Instantly we had gps. When we returned back to Arizona, we returned the phones we purchased. We only had them for 14 days, well within the return date. Consumer took $336 out of our account on Sept. 5, for the phones they claim we never returned. We have still to get our $$ they ILLEGALLY took from us. Today is Sept 12.
