On the positive side, they have a store and actual customer service. On the downside, we have been paying a premium price for internet, tv, and home phone. The cable box receiver is terrible- it responds slowly, and third party apps load so slowly, I think they restrict bandwidth for Netflix, HBO max, YouTube, etc. I finally got their customer retention department to give us a WiFi receiver for a second room (often available for multiple rooms from other providers), and a comparable rate for internet (compared to Frontier). We wanted to cancel the home phone, and they conned my disabled mom into adding a cell line; they told her that we would pay more if we didn't. Our bill is still over $200 a month for internet, cable, and the unnecessary cell service. If it were up to me, I would drop them. read more

Took our cable box back for the second time in a little over a month. COX has awful service and this visit did nothing to help that. There is an issue with their cable boxes and the solution, according to Danny, is for me to pay someone to come out and confirm that it's not their connection OR to "find another service provider " knowing that they are the monopoly in the area. called Cox customer service three or four days ago, and they told me that my internet would be down for one day and then reconnected by the next day. But when the next day came, it wasn't fixed. Every time I call, they just keep transferring me from one person to another, asking me the same questions about my modem over and over. The people that work in this store are great every time I need to change something they are very helpful. They always try and help me lower my bill. Yes it is still high but they do help. Spend half the night getting a new phone only to get it sent to me because they didn't have it in stock and then then then let me know there's no phone number attached to it and I've been trying to get my phone number transferred over to my new phone from my old phone and I called three times in the evening and all three times the Cox people hung up on me. I upgraded my router amd the system generated an order number. When I called back to find out what's going on woth the order, they found a different order number, bit could not tell me anything about.myorder number. They can't even see the discounts, as when I wwnt to get the router, they were for $0.00 for the next twelve months, but at check out, is was $16.16 / month. The manager of the store is unprofessional and uses profanity if you have a complaint on the services provided. (Provided? What a joke!) Stay away from these crooks! I was paying $170 a month JUST for internet because they have a monopoly in Lake Forest for hard-wired internet. Just switched to Verizon 5G and I am getting 500 Mbps for $45 a month plus HBO Max and Netflix included. Just received a call today from Cox that they can reduce my bill to $100. COX COMMUNICATIONS REVIEW: This review is for Cox and not their local store. Cox uses outsourced employees who just barely speak English to save money and boost their profits. This isn't providing good service to their customers. These non-English speakers waste your time with ridiculous, over the top verbiage that turns a quick phone call into a 30+ minute exercise in absolute torture. EXAMPLE: "Please allow me to greet you with my most sincere enthusiasm, ma'am. I promise I will endeavor to provide you with the best, most excellent, truly wonderful service you could ever dream of in your entire life. I am ready to fulfill your every need, dear lady..." This is ALWAYS scripted. If they get interrupted, they lose it and stumble around, trying to communicate and mostly failing. Once the outsourced employee recites their scripted greeting (always ridiculously looooong) and it comes down to helping the customer, they comprehend very little and usually fail to provide the service the customer calls for. DO BETTER !!! ​ Apparently Cox is also messing with data meters for their modems. I conclude this as I was told by Cox that their data meter is "never wrong" and can't be skewed by a failing, bad modem. Our regular data usage runs from 35 to 74 GB per day. Our bad modem recorded a whopping 424 GB for 08/11/24 which is wrong. The good news is that a new modem is being installed tomorrow which puts our data meter back to ZERO. We've never run over our 1780 GB per month before so I'm happy the new modem should fix this problem. (See screen shots). This reminds me when our gas bill went through the roof because we had a hot water pipe break. I do NOT believe our failing modem didn't cause this. Cox Communications has changed since I began as early as 2003. I understood it to be small operation serving on a high level; but that was then. Today I don't have the secure feeling as I did then. As an example, when finally addressing the issue of cox email migration to yahoo, I was transferred after calling main number to person who requested access driver license in order to receive a one time assistance bypassing purchase of a service offer for technical problems. Because this appeared inappropriate, I thanked him and hung up the phone. Reported this to Cox Care and they suggested I contact authorities. We live in a different time. Michael told me he had to leave and that he would be back with the equipment soon. I waited. My neighbor contacted me there was a man in an unmarked truck. My neighbor wanted to know if I was home. It was Michael in the truck! Michael, returned to my house. Michael, was very rude, obnoxious, and was angry. Michael tried to fix the TV and the Internet. He could not fix my TV and computer, and wifi. I tried to talk to him at first however, he ignored me. Then Michael was talking disrespectfully towards me. I could not believe it. I had to ask him if he worked for Cox or are you a subcontractor? Michael was upset and told me! " Can't you see my shirt" I read his logo? Michael, said put your glasses on! Michael was going to leave! I said to him my TV and computer is not working! Michael insisted he had to leave he spent too much time at my house quote. I wanted to keep my old equipment in case I needed to return Cox's equipment!. Remember nothing's working! He fought with me and removed the equipment from my arms. This Cox Store is a sad example of what having a monopoly on cable is like in a community. Unfortunately, we were forced to have Cox cable as our internet, phone, and cable service for over 33 years in Laguna Niguel. Nobody else served the area and we had absolutely NO options. We moved 6 mos ago to SJC & "accidentally" found out that we have AT&T fiber optic network available in our neighborhood. I say accidentally, because I tried not once, not twice, but three times to get Cox to bring me out a new, hardwired box for my television, because the mini box that they put in initially would not work. I had hired an internet tech/specialist, who asked me if I had ever checked with any other companies that have a fiber internet network. I had not, because when we moved in, it was ONLY Cox. WELL, NOT ANYMORE. AT&T has finished installing the fiber network that now gives us a choice for better service & no more price-gouging. I made ONE phone call to make the switch & AT&T is saving us $265/mo. & that's for ALL service for internet, wireless phones, & tv!!! No more individual charges per mini boxes, & extremely fast internet speeds that are not tier-based & priced that way. I "guesstimated" how much they overcharged us for those 33 yrs of service from them & it's $110k!!! It made me sick. But that's what happens when services are monopolized!!! Not only was he handling my personal information, but he took it upon him self to use the personal information I provided to him for internet services for him self and thought it would not be creepy to reach out to me through his PERSONAL number. When I call they send me to collection - these people are either robots or from another country. They continued to repeat the same statement over and over, and when you asked to be transferred to a supervisor, they wouldn't. If you want to speak to someone else you have to hang up and call back. The wait time is ridiculous and the next person says the same thing. They WILL NOT transfer you to a supervisor. They end up just putting you back in the wait queue. This is a scam and a ripoff. Note this is not about the store. But this is what you are buying into after you sign up. Worst customer service of any company on the planet. They don't really have any competition so they just don't care. I called to negotiate a discount on TV because they are 3x Youtube TV that I can easily get. They refused to talk to me because I was not on the account. My wife called and they told her I was already on the account. So the next day I call and they tell me know I am not on the account. They said that Frank Husband was on the account not me. (haha my last name isn't Husband .. that's probably what my wife said.. put her husband Frank on the account).. So still unresolved. As if they can't talk to me or know what was intended. Just stalling to preserve revenue. Not to mention the internet drops out constantly (finally I customized our router settings to use google DNS and that fixed most of it). The cable and phone and internet goes out frequently. Unfortunately there is not another high speed internet option. But seriously people CUT THE TV CORD!!!! You can get Roku 4k Streaming boxes and subscribe to YouTube TV for 1/3 of what they want to charge you. Voice command, unlimited recording. Cox service has steadily declined over the past 15 years with customer service the worst. You can forget EVER receiving the correct information on services they provide. I've spoken with 5 people some in store and others in the no customer service on the phone regarding Cox's cloud service and not 1 person could tell me what I needed to do to sign up. Their equipment (DVR) rarely last more than 2-3 years before they need replacement and you lose all your recorded and scheduled programs. This doesn't seem to bother Cox they just hand you another refurbished DVR that you will have to replace in a few years and start the frustrating process again.
