If I could give a negative score I would. 1. Ordered new Internet. I was told the modem had to be shipped and that so could not pick it up. 2. Waiting on modem that never arrived. I was told it was a day late. 3. Modem never arrives. I just want a shipment/ tracking number. After 2 hours on the phone/chat- they have no clue what I am talking about. No record of my order. So I send a photo of the email they had sent me. I am told to go to my local store which is closed that day bc it is Sunday. 4. Call from work on Monday. This 4th person tells me to pay $50 to ship the equipment. My order is on hold!!! I have never been contacted though I am on my 4th time contacting them. I told her I did not trust paying for anything bc I don't know why they are for the first time asking for a payment. Each time I have been told something different. I would have paid the first day had I known. I politely ask to speak to the supervisor. I am connected with someone. I ask if she is the supervisor. She says no and hung up!!!!! Now I get to find a local store and try to figure it out there. I have spent hours, hours going through the phone chain, chat. It is unacceptably each person is on a different page and no notes are taken about previous calls. Worst customer service ever. 5 hours wasted of my time. read more

Over all ... poor. Poor services- poor communication- poor customer relations... and why you ask? Because they know they can in most areas because there aren't other competitors available. Hiked prices - especially for internet .. works half the time - yet you pay for it to work full time. "Cox- how not to be a communications company." I fixed your motto. read more

Absolutely worse customers service that I have ever experienced in my life! I called 5 times today and spoke to Richard and Vanessa his manager with badge ID 24991. I was on the account as a secondary user and was added by my sweetheart 3 times. We were then transferred to the loyalty department that would argue that I was not on the account and back in the general queue waiting. 2 hours later we finally talked to Shea from the loyalty department who could not find a better deal than $76.99 compared to the $83.99 we were charged (from $74.99) with the original price of $59.99 for 150 Preferred plan. She was not able to do it retroactively and could not find a better deal. 2 hours of aggravation for a $7 saving... Cox has the monopoly in my area in Irvine and can get away with whatever pricing or increase of prices that they wish with the worse customer service. I am going to email the city to ask to have at least another provider here. This is unacceptable! read more

I've lived in Irvine for a year now and have never in my life had internet issues like this. And no it is not just cause of quarantine the issues have been terrible for the past 12 months. I'm in the room next to the router and I can't even stream Netflix, and this is with me having the best internet possible. I bought a wireless extender after complaining and then they said it had to be their wireless extender. I had to pay $200 for this and it hasn't helped at all. Very frustrating and I would not recommend read more

Everytime I call tech suPport, their systEms Are down. Time to get rid of useless cable

Cox is the worst customer service provider I ever experinced. Last Octomber I went to the the Cox store at Quail Hill PKwy in Irvine to disconnected my internet service, one of the cox emplyee in the front desk asked me why I wanted to disconnect Cox internet, I told him that I switched to a 5G internet provider. Then he operated in his computer and told me my service has been disconnected. However, yesterday I found Cox still charged me $90 every month for the last five months. I called Cox customer service and was told that they can not do anything and asked me to go to talk to the same store. I went to the store and met the same employee. I asked him to check his computor, and he said there is no record in cox system that he touched my account. I asked to talk to the store manager, she said that since there is no evidence that I came to the store to disconnected the servive, she cannot give credit back. Even worse, she asked why I paid Cox for the last 5 months if I said I came here last Octomber to disconnnect and why I did not check me emails and my credit card statements! I explained to her that Cox wrongly charged me though the automatic payment setup for a disconnected service. She said that the only thing she can do is to disconnect the account but refused to do any further investigation to resolve the dispure. This is the way how Cox treated a long time customer! So, never believe Cox and alway double check!!! read more

Can I give zero stars? Today I cancelled my Cox TV and Phone services. Finally! Cox has the worst kind of business practice, not valuing their long time customers, constantly increasing their prices and answering with unbelievable arrogance when someone dares to ask questions about it. read more

If I can give this company no stars I would , this the worst service ever provided by a company, their. Incompetent and unreliable I canceled my acct after 2 months , highly don't recommend this company for Internet or cable read more

Liar!!! They told me that they cancelled TV and phone services from my account when I return to cable box on 11/20/2017. Cox still add the TV and phone charges with my internet statement. I called the customer service, they told me that these services are still activate. The customer service told me that I need to call the customer service when I cancel these. Why the guy at the store told me that it cancelled. Cox does not refund me for TV and Phone charges! Horrible, Terrible, Unbelievable!!! Cox is the worst company!!! read more

stay away from cox signed up and they said it would cost me $102 per month for cable and internet out the door!!!!! my bill is $147 every month!!!!!!! stay away!!! this month just got double charged. they can't reverse payment. told them i want to cancel service and they said i'll be charged a partial payment. this is day 1 of billing cycle!!!!! stay away from this horrible company!!! trust me!! read more

Tldr: Garbage customer service. Hung up on me twice and never called back. I got disconnected from an online meeting and no one can help answer what happened or resolve my issue. Internet is always dropping connections. Tech support has no real IT background. It's always some high school drop out who can't communicate properly. They don't even call back if the call gets disconnected. Find yourself another ISP. read more

Ridiculously expensive. I wish there was more competition in the area we live in. We pay $63 for 30mpbs but barely get 12mbps. Customer service sucks. read more

They did a credit check just to sign up for internet services. As i google this there's a class action lawsuit regarding the issue. I wonder how I get in on that as it hurts my credit for an unnecessary check!! read more

I have had Cox for 40 years and every year the price goes up. It's ridiculous to pay over $100 to just watch tv

Absolutely the worst. I have been waiting for my internet to be installed for TWO DAYS now. Cox keeps telling me that they're going to send someone out and then doesn't. I'm sick of it. I keep getting confirmation emails and phone calls that a Cox member is going to come out between my scheduled time, and then they just do not show up. I don't understand what the deal is. I already paid for my internet to be installed. Come install it already. read more

My wife was forced to take a month off to take care of our son for a month due to lack of child care. I called every creditor we owed money to to make arrangements for payments and Cox was the only company unwilling to work with us and make future payment arrangements. It's okay though because I'm switching to AT&T fiber for significantly less than Cox was charging. I really would not recommend using Cox as there are other heaped options out there. read more

I canceled internet cable after switching to Google Fiber. Left them due to data throttling and data limits. When I called the guy on the phone said I was all paid. Not even 2 months later I'm getting a letter from a collections agency and immediately dinged on my credit report. I would never go back to them even if I have to use dial-up or recommend them to anyone I like. Absolutely infuriated and looking into legal services. read more

Worst ISP in Irvine. I've had outages everyday for the last two months. Packet loss, low throughput. They have done a single thing to correct the issues except provide lip service. read more

I've been a cox customer for over 15 years & will be looking for a new TV service. 3 new cable boxes in the past 3 weeks with 2 service calls and daily calls to reboot the box is inexcusable. You pay a premium for service & it's totally unreliable. The technicians that came out were very nice but the ones on the phone & by text are clueless. They're always trying to sell you crap that you don't need. This is what happens when you have a monopoly. read more

They jack the prices up significantly every year for the same already overpriced service. There are monthly outages and ridiculous data caps that serve zero purpose other than to gouge customers who sign up for any TV or video streaming services instead of paying for Cox's overpriced TV packages. If the Irvine Google Fiber rollout every hits my neighborhood or whenever home 5G is ready, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Cox could work to keep their existing customers happy with reasonable, consumer friendly offerings, but they've instead chosen to bleed their current customer base out for as long as possible until everyone can leave them. Competition is coming and Cox decided they want to lose. read more

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH COX. THEY WILL PULL A HARD CREDIT HIT ON YOUR ACCOUNT. My fiance and I opened an account with Cox, and Cox did a hard pull on our credit. Initially, we thought it would be a soft pull as it would be unreasonable to do a hard pull because it was an application for utility, and not for credit. We had Spectrum and Comcast before and they just provided us with service without a credit check. We contacted Cox and their customer service said that they would do an investigation but we never heard back from them. We decided to call 2 months later and they did not do anything. They are lying and are very manipulative. They have a monopoly in Irvine, which is extremely scary as they are billing us without providing any real service. We will be taking this to our lawyer and possibly District Representative. read more

I am having a very bad experience with cox right now. There was a delay in my payment by few days and they disconnected my line without telling. you know these days - they have this small write up below every page - please read the conditions blah blah" this activation charge - i reached out - can you please consider..no way as per customer service...so i dont know what to do now.. they mentioned as per this condition activation fee of 20$ will be charged. disgusting. and very poor customer service. customer service - both billing as well as sales dept will not leave until they get things done no matter even if you talk to them for 1 hour. thinking about what to do now read more

We have had THREE outages in three months! One of which was over 40 hours long. I called each time to see why and ask for an estimated time for resolve. Each time the rep stated they did not have an update for me. One time they even told me there was no outage! Even though the entire complex was down. If Cox is going to charge $150+ for services, they need to work and be accountable!! read more

One of the worst customer service I had ever encountered. My home internet was out for three days. When I called ( twentieth call in three days) COX customer service representative said that home internet service is a LUXURY. COX does not consider these to be urgent issues. They allocate service agents only when they are available. I was extremely disappointed that they don't consider issues with residential accounts a priority despite the fact that several of us work from home these days. I hope there will be a different internet provider in Irvine soon. I'll be the first one to switch away from COX. Disrespectful and arrogant service doesn't create loyalty. They should be ashamed about their agent training too! What a shame. read more

Worst service ever. Paid for 150 mbps service, but keep getting 10 to 20 mbps speed. They couldn't fix it and has no solution how to fix it. Charge me arms and legs for $90 per month. read more

Terrible dishonest run from them. My daughter is a UCI student living in a condo. I got her cable just to be sure she had good internet for finals etc. I spent hours online with "customer service" when the modem/routers I purchased each failed to connect. They blamed Netgear, so there went hours online with Netgear as well. Finally I spoke with the building manager (large complex) who said they needed to come out and connect the cable. He said they do it all the time ... usually no charge, but if the try to charge you just tell them you're going to switch to AT&T and they will do it for free. (And yes, I was going to switch to AT&T because I don't like being treated worse than everyone else around me. Anyway, the guy came out, and connected the cable in minutes telling me there would be no charge. A month later? $100 charge. I contacted "customer service" again. They asked "did he specifically write in his notes there would be no charge" as if I know, or even know to ask if he "documented his file." Oh well says "customer service ... the charge still stands." Terrible service. Cox apparently doesn't know the days of cable monopolies are over. I'm going to recoup my $100 "involuntary investment" and switch to any other company. Can't wait to see Cox go the way of MySpace. Pathetic. Trust me when I tell you ... go with another company. Any other company. Run from these old school, scam artist, strong arming, arrogant, monopolistic, bait and switch entitled money grabbers. Run I say. RUN!!!!!!! You will thank me later. RUN!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Cox communications is the true definition of modern day robbery! They jack up the bill every few months and you can't do anything about it, because they have monopolized the OC area internet service so they know they you have no other choice but to stay with them and they get to steal from you legally! Even when you want to leave and cancel their service, they charge you $270 because they have you under contract (which we had no idea, no one ever told us when we started service with them)! This is the most shocking experience I've ever had with any service provider in my entire life! If you don't need high speed internet, stay away from them!!! read more

Cox is seriously going to lose a lot of money if they keep having outages and disconnecting people this seriously needs to stop.

They treat you like a revenue stream and make you jump through all the hopes regardless of what you say. When you finally say yes to canceling, they give you a good deal. It's a joke and they make the customer feel frustrated. I am no longer a fan of Cox cable. The second another provider is able to offer 300 mbps at a reasonable price, I'm leaving. I also did speak with their supervisor to give them my genuine feedback, but you know nothings gonna happen. read more

Terrible service & even worse customer service. Internet goes out daily and therefore my cable goes out daily as well. $150 a month for intermittent service. After getting the runaround for one hour on the phone, finally able to speak to a supervisor who tells me that all they can do is waive the service fee to come out and check on their terrible service. They will not give out any email address to a supervisor or manager of this company. I explained that I am not receiving the service that I paid for and want to cancel and I was told I must pay a $200 fee due to a contract that they are not holding up! What a joke. Awful company. They are thieves. They actually steal your money by fabricating charges and then disconnect your service when you point out the fraud on their part. DO NOT BE AN IDIOT AND SUBSCRIBE TO THEIR SHIT SERVICES! They signal and reception stink and their internet never works. Terrible product and ripoff. Plus their customer service workers lie and are dishonest. Watch your bill. They raised my bill by $70 per month. Literally the WORST customer service and service I have ever dealt with. They originally said my bill would be $100 and slowly increased to over $150 and then they decided to charge me $258 without any warning and would not refund me. AVOID THIS COMPANY at all costs. THEY ARE THE WORST. Terrible terrible company that just steals from it's customers and binds you contracts without notifying you. This should be illegal and I'm pretty sure it is. read more

If they allowed all of the cable companies to compete head-to-head within service areas, they would have to provide much better customer service and much better pricing. Went and bought a cable modem and router so that we no longer would have to rent the one we have from Cox. Cox requires you to call them in order to get your new equipment setup which just a ruse to take the opportunity to upsell you to whatever their latest bundle is. Our main goal in buying the cable modem was we no longer wanted to rent equipment that would probably paid for at least three times over in the past two years. Once you paid the cost of the damn equipment you should not have to continue paying rent for it. That's unethical as hell. So the first person I spoke to on the phone was unable to get my modem working but took the opportunity to spend an hour and a half on the phone with us trying to up-sell us to a television and internet package. Which conveniently included a DVR that we would have to rent. We told her in no uncertain terms that equipment rental was a deal-breaker on anything since the reason we were on the phone with her was to hook up the equipment we own and turn in the old equipment that we rented. She couldn't help us get our modem working. Which is bizarre because she was supposedly a technical support person. She escalated us up to what they call Tier 2, and 5 minutes later my modem was hooked up and working. Pro tip to all of the cable companies, when people call for technical support, it is not an opportunity to upsell. That pisses people off. When and if Google Fiber ever gets here, we will enthusiastically kick Cox to the curb. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. I have never dealt with a company that is this incompetent. It's been 2 weeks and I still can't get anyone to come out and set up my internet or tell me why they won't come. I called on a Sunday to have someone come out the following Saturday. That Saturday no one showed up. I called to ask why and was transferred to over 5 people and on hold for an hour before I was told that the guy who i originally called to set up the appointment hadn't actually booked it or sent the info in and the next appointment they had for me was 2 weeks out. I left a message to speak with someone about the situation as I partially work from home and internet is mandatory. I was guaranteed I would be called back within 24 hours. Over 48 hours later I got a voicemail saying that he had hoped to catch me before I left for work (I had specified I leave for work at 8am and he called at 10:30). He then told me that I should set it up at home myself and told me to call him back with questions. I called back but the number he gave me required an extension which he had not given me. I called and was transferred to 3 different people who all told me that they couldn't help me, nor were they able to reconnect me to the manager that had called me in the first place, before again telling me that all I could do was set up a new appointment for 2-3 weeks from now. I have never in my life dealt with a company where this many employees are completely incompetent at their jobs and unwilling to help the customer. Avoid using this company at all costs if you can they are an absolute nightmare and have made the move to my new home hell. read more

Extremely unethical billing practises. Every month for the last three months I have seen an increase in the internet bill for absolutely no reason. First it was 62 then 64 then 74 then 84. Does the US not have a law against such practises against such corrupt companies. Since there is no other faster internet option in Irvine and I dont have the time or money to sue them, I am to pay the whims of whatever the billing department thinks on that month while preparing my billing statement. No regulation whatsoever, this is nothing short of holding the consumers to ransom! i would give this -5 stars and rate them a FRAUD! When I ask them they tell a different quote and a different reason for the quote or the change in the bill everytime. Its ridiculous! read more

I previously had Cox internet, shut it off, and turned it back on. I had a router/modem from my previous Cox account. When the technician came to reconnect service, he said my router wasn't working,so he sold me a new one for $129. However, I decided to cancel the service because I believed my router worked perfectly fine. When I called to cancel; miraculously, tech support was able to get my previous router working. The point is, if you have a router and a Cox technician says it's broke, don't go for the sales job of purchasing a new one from Cox...Get on the phone with customer loyalty and tell them they need to get your old router working. And if by chance your router really is broken, go on Ebay...I found the exact same router for $39 on "BUY IT NOW" read more
