After taking the train to the Hamptons from NYC, my boyfriend and I were looking for places to eat and celebrate our anniversary. Cowfish came up on Yelp as a suggested spot, and given its high rating and reviews, I thought it was worth a shot. Plus, I love to eat anywhere on the water/with a view. When we showed up, we were blown away. Both the interior and the exterior of the restaurant are decorated beautifully. The inside is cozy and romantic, and the outside is very inviting and casual. We were also crazy about the food--we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer, which was absolutely to die for. I ordered the rotisserie chicken and my bf got the shrimp. Both of us scarfed up our meals and felt very satisfied. Our server was delightful, and one of the other servers offered to put our bags in storage for the meal. We finished our drinks outside, and there was a lovely engagement party taking place in the far end near the bar. Cowfish seems like a great place for a relaxing meal, or even a small party. read more

Rumba down the street is still my favorite, but as they own this as well the food here is really good too

Great food and service! We went last weekend a group of four- had to wait about 40 minutes for a table (but this was memorial day weekend) once we were seated we were served quickly by Collin who was a wonderful server! The clam chowder is AMAZING! Everyone at the table tried and loved it. We also ordered the lobster stuffed mushrooms which were wonderful, the cornbread really makes them! I had the sushi Maui Wowi roll which was great- and my friend got the shrimp in the worcester reduction which she determined " the best thing she has ordered at a restaurant in over a month" The ambiance on the water is also really nice. I would absolutely go back to this place!!! In fact- I can't wait until we can. read more

Lobster stuffed mushrooms were awesome!!! My first taste of cowfish is righteous. Rumba punch!!!!

Exciting menu and fantastic service! It was our favorite place we ate while visiting the area. Everything was cooked perfectly and the staff were all so helpful. Only downside was the parking, but the food more than made up for it. read more

Returned here after having a wonderful experience with my family a year earlier. Food and atmosphere were delicious as before but I immediately felt ill. Food poisoning has thus far lasted over 48 hours. Guess I am never going back. read more

Food was great, perfect for large groups and kids. We had to drag them off the play pirate ship after dinner. Cowfish is better than it needs to be given its location, which is a draw in and of itself. We'll be back! read more

Totally fun! Had a small bachelorette party weekend begin here for Saturday brunch and it was perfect! The service was phenomenal - our servers and food runners were all very pleasant and conversational. An additional person, who I assume was the manager, asked us how everything was going and congratulated the bride-to-be. They say us near the windows too for a perfect view! The outdoor area and bar is beautiful and a perfect place to hang on a nice day but still feel upscale. Food was excellent and everyone was happy with the selection of both breakfast/lunch items and the bellinis were the bomb :-) Would highly recommend!! Beautiful view, wonderful service, delicious food! read more

Cowfish is hands down the best place to eat in the Hamptons if you want to feel the relaxed and easy vibes of summer and enjoy a beautiful water view and a lively scene. I enjoy all kinds of restaurants and food, and certainly there are plenty of places with fancier and more expensive fare. But who needs that when Cowfish offers delicious food, great service, and such lovely, calming views? It's a great place to unwind with dinner or drinks at the end of the workday. I've eaten there many times, always trying different things from the menu, and have never been disappointed. Their staff is friendly, professional, and attentive, despite the demands on them due to so many people wanting to eat there and waiting in line to do so. Make a reservation in advance so you can be seated without a long wait! Unlike many other Hamptons restaurants that are truly overpriced and pretentious, Cowfish is elegant without being stuffy, and you feel right at home thanks to the idyllic location and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Whenever friends are in town, we take them to Cowfish, and they are always happy we did :) --S. read more

Cowfish - New American Near Me - Hampton Bays, New York

I had heard very good things about Cowfish from friends and locals. Finally got to try it myself. A busy and rainy Friday evening should have caused alot of chaos but it didnt. The wait was half of the time we were quoted. The food was superb. Center Filet was cooked perfectly. What I was the most impressed by was the staff. As the staff hustled around, it began to look like a choreographed dance. Nobody went back to the kitchen without something in their hands, even if it wasnt from their table. Everyone helped everyone with a sense of urgent calmness. The manager had a pleasant presence as she made her rounds ensuring customer satisfaction. I hope Cowfish continues to focus on all of the small details, because it truly adds up to an enjoyable dinner spot. read more

Great views, great service, great food! They have outdoor seating on their second floor that overlooks the water with unbeatable views. Every time I've gone every hostess, server, and manager has been incredibly friendly. And the food is super fresh and yummy. Will be going back soon! read more

I have been here 2 times and both times have been happy with my meal and service. Our table took advantage of the prix fix menu this time. The buffalo shrimp are a must try. The sauce is almost a bbq/buffalo, the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy. For the main course I split the scallops and the ribs. The ribs fell of the bone. The scallops were accompanied by a light cream sauce and just superb! I will definitely be making a third trip! read more

I've been here twice for brunch with large groups and both times the food and service has been stellar. The restaurant opens at 11:30am and you should be there on time as a lot of people show up quickly. There are a lot of options on the menu and our group gave the food good reviews. You can also sit outside at the bar and sometimes they have corn hole out so you can play a game while waiting for food. The location on the water is picturesque and gives you the feeling of eating at a nice Hamptons eatery. Just a word of caution: Google maps will navigate you past the real entrance of this place. On my first visit I had to make a U-turn and double back. read more

One of the best seafood restaurant I've been to in a while. Ocean views and a nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We had a terrific meal. The food was excellent, service was good (not exceptional) and the setting is beautiful. We will be back.

This has been my favorite spot for many years, great food, amazing service, beautiful location but I got catering from them last night, worst food ever! Never expected some kind of fast food style. I was very disappointed. read more

Aside from the two hour wait and having to check back several times for a table pager to become available, I have to say how disappointed I was over the service that a party of eight received on a Wednesday evening. First of all, the bartenders are far too slow for the volumn of patrons. After waiting for two hours to be seated, we asked for appetizers to come out with the children's food (since we were all starving while waiting) and they came out before their food did. Then, the entrees were served with the exception of the Primary's entree. We finished all of our meals before his was ever served. The server apologized, stating that the chef was working quick to rectify - it was still about 10-15 minutes before the food did arrive. Then, after the meal was complete, we decided to look past what had happened and ordered dessert. Again, the primary's dessert did not show up with the rest of the dessert. We had to ask where it was. When the birthday guests dessert came out, no one came over to sing happy birthday, although they all gathered to sing happy birthday to another guest on the opposite end of the restaurant. When we finally asked for the check and voiced our concerns, we were met with a lack of empathy from the dining floor supervisor. She stated she didn't know what our concerns were and dropped the check on the table when we told them we didnt want the dessert because it took far too long and we had wanted to leave (we were there for about three and a half hours at that point). She dropped the check at the table and walked off. We were not finished with the conversation and tried to get our attention but she just continued to ignore us. The manager stated she was "stressed out" because of how busy it was - but she failed to do her job and handle the stress that comes with supervising a floor and it was inexcusable. I will make sure that I let every person know of the way our party was treated. When you pay a premium for a restaurant you expect the service to be on par, and unfortunately it was not. We will not come back, and we will not recommend anyone else to come back either. read more

Cool place, excellent food, clean, very friendly staff... never rushed. Cow Fish and Rumba, run by the same owners, are the best restaurants in Hampton Bays... my wife and I have lived here year round for 12 years. read more

Their burgers are so good. Whenever I'm craving a burger this is my first stop. The cookie dessert is also great. So yummy. Ambiance is perfect for the tropical summer vibe. Right on the water and they sometimes have live music but they need more of that in the Summer!! read more

DONT EVER GO HERE!!! By the far the rudest most unprofessional staff I've seen at a waterfront restaurant. My family and I booked reservation a month prior...and as we showed up, had nothing to their knowledge. Instead of nicely accommodating, they rudely did not. This place is highly over rated and you could go to a far more nicer establishment with MUCH NICER STAFF! I wish I could give this place ZERO stars read more

I went for lunch at Cowfish with a friend. The positives: the view was lovely and the waitstaff, while clearly inexperienced, were sweet and tried hard. However, the food was dismal. For a restaurant called Cowfish located on a Marina it was not a fish forward restaurant. Certainly not representative of local Long Island fish. My friend had a dismal blackened mahi mahi sandwich. It was a thin, pathetic looking piece of dry fish served on a lackluster bun. The accompanying tomatoes and onions wound up on the floor before the plate hit the table (though these were replaced by our ever cheerful server). In all, it was a dismal excuse for a fish sandwich. I ordered a medium rare burger which was barely passable and arrived well-done. The accompanying french fries were inedible. They tasted of deep fryer oil which had been re-used too many times. (ugh!). Yes, everyone is friendly and accommodating, but the food is dismal. read more

Great location. So-so food. Fun free boat ride over to Rumba.

Was really happy with our dinner here! Walked in, was seated right away, service was great, food was delicious, and the view was awesome! 10/10 would come back and looking to make this a repeat place. read more

This restaurant had great food and the staff was welcoming and very friendly. All the food we got was perfectly cooked and uniquely prepared. The highlight of our meals were the skillet cornbread the jumbo diver scallops and the wedge salad. We started with the clam chowder and it was the best we have ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant read more

Incredibly long wait but very sweet service and attention to customers who are invited to stroll along the beautiful garden or have a drink at the bar. Once seated though, I was hoping for food in par with the somewhat extravagant place and was a disappointed. We ordered 2 fish dishes. Both would have looked and fared ok in a cliché dinner out in Queens or Bay Ridge but I did expect more from a place who's clientele is made to wait on average 1 hour to be served. The sword fish was dry and instead of the garlic butter promised, it had some kind of clear greasy juice mildly flavored dripping on top of the fish. I would have loved to have a look at that garlic butter and let dress the fish myself. The other fish, a mahi-mahi, fared a bit better in the fact that it had some kind if taste. But again, both the presentation and overall dish lacked any kind of sophistication you'd come to expect from a higher standing restaurant. In both dishes, neither sides stood out particularly: an overcooked risotto, a side of corn with no real flavor and some kid of wild rice with fresh vegetables which looked slapped together rather then cared for. All of the food seemed to have been prepared in a rush by a kitchen working in overdrive to meet the long lines of Ralph Lauren looking customers ( no disrespect meant). Our kids got the kids menu and were treated with the same kind of average food you'd expect at a regular Dinners. Small portion of fried food and a sad looking scoop of vanilla ice cream (no choice there!). I don't know, maybe I grew up spoiled by great food served in restaurants who cared about details but though I appreciate what Cowfish goes for, they stop very short by the very standard they seem to strive for. read more
