It's $$ not $ and when you consider what it is it's really $$$. It's not been updated since the 1950s except for the prices. Fries are decent. Burgers and especially chicken nuggets were awful. Called in at 7:59 and was answered by a guy with attitude. I didn't catch what he said at first so I asked him to repeat and he says "you missed me, we're closed", and just hangs up on me before I can reply. Completely unprofessional when everywhere online says they don't close till 9:30. Even if they wanted to go home early I would totally understand that but to be as rude as they were was just uncalled for. I don't like leaving bad reviews but here we are. For a place that portrays itself as a traditional drive in spot, I was very disappointed in the quality of burger that I got. The patty was extremely thin, like what they would serve as a high school lunch meal. The price and the reputation that they have in this town did not fit my experience at all. What appears to be a roadside dive is worth stopping by! They make the food fresh while you wait. The fried flounder sandwich is made from locally caught fish and is amazing. Their French fries are generously portioned, perfectly crispy and yummy. And the ladies who work there are so amazingly friendly, patient and hustle. Excellent customer service. I observed them deal with an older gentleman who was confused, had tons of questions and was very chatty. While it could have been frustrating for most, they were all the while smiling and getting the job done. Outside tables only for dining. We took ours to go. My daughter had tacos and she loved them too. I'm glad we stopped here for a little local flavor and fried comfort foods. read more

If there's a single restaurant that I could point to which encapsulates Hampton Bays, it'd be Slo's. A staple of the area, Slo's has been faithfully serving locals and visitors for far longer than I've been alive. Consistency and quality are the two words I'd use to describe the food here. The food is fantastic, the perfect dive burger, chicken, fries, hot dogs. Classic Americana. Every time I eat here it tastes exactly like the last time, and it's fantastic. You know what you get, and you keep coming back for it. The staff is always friendly, the food is prepared to order so sometimes it takes a little while to receive, but trust me, it's worth the wait. The architecture and ambiance brings you back to a time you may not have even lived in. Just a great vibe, outdoor seating is convenient and always fun if the breeze is strong. Location couldn't be better right off Montauk Hwy before you enter town from the West. This is always a must eat when we have friends and family in town. I hope you give it a try! Stopped by for a burger, chocolate shake, and fries during a bike ride. Old school burger with all the fixings. Fries were crispy. Shake was sweet and creamy. Service was extremely friendly and accommodating. They have a lot of bench seating under a tent. There are two single occupancy gendered restrooms in the rear. read more

I'm not from here but my boyfriend just recently moved up here and we were hungry so I decided to try this place! Got a double bacon cheeseburger platter, friend chicken platter and mozz sticks. Stopped in Slo-Jack's with my wife on Wednesday, Sept 15th, 2021. We were camping locally, and just wanted to get some "good grub" for dinner ... and being they have outdoor picnic tables, we were in. I'd been here before ... food was "meh", but good to fill up on casually. We ordered two steak burritos and sodas. We can honestly say, without having to think at all, that these were the WORST burritos we have ever had. Horrible. So, so bad. The burritos leaked WATER when you bit into them ... the lettuce was brown ... and I guess was washed or stored in water ... and slapped in there soaking. The cheese was just "clumped" in the middle. No rice, not real food in there, other than the steak strips which were COLD and had absolutely no flavor. We had asked for sour cream, and got one serving, and it was some kind of fake shit that tasted like paint. This place really sucks. Sorry, but it's true. read more

This is the nicest spot in the Hamptons for real surf food and atmosphere. An amazing steak burrito, freshly made chocolate shake with Sedutto's ice cream, and the deep fried french fries. Eat at the picnic table near the miniature golf course and you're transported back to 1976. The surf supply shack will sell you a longboard, wax and a t-shirt. Priceless. read more

A medium-rare hamburger is an impossibility - I sent my burger back twice and gave up after that. I would not attempt to eat here again.

My first time & I can't help but like slo-jacks! The "ambiance" brings me back to my youth. It doesn't have the spit shine that chain fast food restaurants have. This is a burger joint! My wife & I both had double burgers ( a bit too well done for me), shared onion rings (terrific) & split a shake (amazing!).I will return & try a few other things. PS- a surf shop & golf in the rear lot. Doesn't get more old school than that ----- My original review must be amended. There is too much competition to ignore customer service. SLO-Jack, please, realize this & step up your game. I ordered two burgers & onion ring not a complicated order. I figured I would be served in ten minutes or less. That is the usual Slo-Jack pace a when they are not busy. I needed to be at an appointment nearby. After twenty minutes I still wasn't served. I watched everyone after me served & gone from the ordering window. My order must have been misplaced. I asked for my money to be returned. The cashier ( probably a high schooler) didn't know what to do & asked the chef. He said it'll be another seven minutes. I replied I'm unable to wait due to a medical appointment & need a refund. His voice was getting a bit louder as we debated. Then an old man from the rear of the kitchen chimed in. He was loud, abrasive, unsympathetic to my plight, uncaring that it was the staff's error & generally gave me an FU attitude. The vibe was "I have your money, too bad". As the scream feast continued the food was placed in a bag. Needless to say I left with an unsettled feeling. Terrible treatment but I know they won't change. So disappointed. I had such high hopes and was sadly disappointed as the food took ages and arrived with poor quality. The shake was watered down beyond recognition that it ever contained ice cream. The fries was loaded with salt. The burger was more than well done and the clam strips were more like clam sticks. The food tasted good but it was very obvious that beans were straight out of a can and tomatola were not very ripe. My gut said don't play with the chicken so I avoided that altogether. This place was like an oasis in a never ending desert. I was hungover like no other, everything was hurting and I knew the only thing that was going to make me feel better was a good cheeseburger and fries. So I see Slo Jacks up ahead on the highway and I am praying it's open because it's winter in the hampton's. This place was perfect. This is an Okay place. Cool spot to come to in the summer time after a beach day. There is outdoor seating ONLY. You can order burgers, fries, tacos, shakes, hot dogs, etc. I enjoyed my burger and fries. The wait was kind of long, even though there was nobody there. They also have a miniature golf course in the back which is pretty dope. If you want some drunken munchie food, this is a place you need to stop by. You will enjoy it, but the prices are pretty expensive. That's the Hamptons for you though. read more

This place is very retro 1960's drive-in with miniature golf to boot! Run by a surfer dude from Hamptons Bays forever. Great place to stop in for a quick burger and fries, or tons of other menu choices. Good mexican specialties and great "chalk board" specials everyday. Mediocre and over priced. The burger was thin and the meat tasted old. The fries aren't the good, crispy fries you would expect. With that said, the milkshakes were terrible, which means the ice cream was terrible. You're better off going to Boom in Westhampton. read more

I really appreciate history and Americana culture but I also understand the pitfalls of nostalgia and I understand that the times we remember them weren't always better. For example it's easy to forget when you look at an Edward Hopper painting of a diner scene, how crappy that diner food probably was or how terrible the coffee was compared to your average modern coffee shop in a time when even 7/11 sells what would have been considered "gourmet" coffee thirty years ago. So with this in mind I can say that Slo-Jacks is like a window into the past with all the rundownness of an old Americana Dream that must have been ahead of it's time back in the day. Slo's menu is a mix of classic American fast food with some old California flair. From fried chicken to burritos everything is made with love (and oil too) to order. It costs a little more than other fast food joints because it's a better and more substantial. Many items are deep fried and greasy at that but they are all done well. This is probably the best fried chicken anywhere around. There is a really old worn down but super charming mini golf course in the back that will remind you that the fun in mini golf has nothing to do with how new or extravagant the course is. There is also a surf shop back there where many local kids got their first surfboard from. read more

My wife and I are particular to different places to get good food Slo- Jacks is the best quickly cooked food. Their shrimp and scallops are very good with coleslaw and fries and everything on the menu. Tom the owner is a great guy and we have been going to slo-jacks at least 20 years.
