Such a great little spot in Hampton Bays. It's perfectly situated on the water so you have great views no matter what. We ate out on the patio and it was lovely. We both got the lobster roll and it was phenomenal. You get such a large amount of lobster meat, we definitely could have just split one. The deviled eggs are also to die for! Beautiful views and white people galore. Nice. The restaurant consists of two floors, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend the outdoor seating on a nice day, because again, the views and the breeze are just phenomenal. The bar downstairs also has a great view and while the selection is just decent, I think it's one of the best places to enjoy a drink outside in Southampton. The food is very good. There really aren't any dishes that blow you away, but they provide great seafood, at your typical Hamptons prices: expensive, but not horrendously awful. I had the NOLA shrimp, which had a really savory and sweet sauce that gave the shrimp a good kick. I also tried the salmon and the shrimp/crab salad, which all tasted very fresh and perfectly prepared. I would recommend against getting the sushi, as the portion was not very good for the price. Waitstaff is very friendly and they know the menu pretty well. It took us awhile to get the check in the end, but other than that, the water and drink refills came frequently. There is complimentary valet parking, if you can find the winding corridor to get to the back of the restaurant. The signs are not too obvious, so just make sure to keep your eyes peeled. The valets are pretty good at their job, although a bit forward about the tip at the end. I guess the expectations are high in the Hamptons. I'll be back to enjoy a drink at the outside bar, or for some quality seafood. read more

On a lousy weather day when a group of us decided to hit a few wineries in Long Island, we decided we wanted seafood for lunch. We found Cowfish down in the Southampton area, and were glad we did. Most in our group had the clam chowder, which they all raved about. We also had the iron skillet cornbread, which was outstanding. I had the blackened fish sandwich, which was one of the best I have ever had......anywhere. The food was so good that a couple of the people in our group, actually went back again the next day! The name is very fitting. They make great steaks. They make great fish. The ambience is the best. An old boat house on the canal, with a cozy attic bar up top, deck seating to take in the views, and then a seasonal outdoor bar with a great albeit limited menu. Seating can be tough in season. If you ever have a chance to do one of their wine pairing dinners off season, do it! Come hungry and thirsty, and consider a cab ride home. I think one of their chefs left and took with him one of their best dishes, the cumin encrusted mahi. I'm a tough reviewer, so there goes a star. Excellent food in a beautiful setting. After trying their sister restaurant, Rumba and rating it highly we wanted to try Cowfish. We came for lunch, we wanted to sit outside on the upstairs deck, but there was a 25 minute wait so we ate inside and then had some drinks outside after our meal to enjoy the view. My husband and I shared the Blackened Fish Sandwich & The Club. Both sandwiches were delicious, with the fish sandwich being my favorite. Although we were full afterwards, we couldn't leave without trying the Iron Skillet cookie, which was sooo good! It was warm and gewy, I loved it. After our meal we moved outside to enjoy happy hour at the bar outside and enjoy the view. It was a great end to our Hamptons weekend. We are considering driving up from NYC to sample all the great food we had in Hampton Bays all over again! read more

Four stars for the food and six stars for the ambiance. Fantastic spot overlooking the water. They have a number of different dining areas. Even the inside area felt outdoors as the windows and doors were open and kept a nice breeze flowing throughout. Great place to dine and watch the sunset. Even after you've finished eating, there are Adirondack chairs near the water that you can relax on - and they have an outdoor bar if you feel like grabbing a drink and wandering the grounds. Lovely place to eat and relax. It's busy tho so make sure you reserve. My husband and I try to make it back to this restaurant anytime we're out on the island. read more

This place was incredible. It's sitting on the bay with an amazing view of the water and boat dock, there are games to play, live music, chairs to relax in, and a cute outdoor bar to grab a drink. We waited for less time than they estimated, which is always nice. THE FOOD was so good. We got the clam chowder (amazing) the buffalo shrimp (was actually BBQ, but still good) and the oysters Hampton which was very good. My boyfriend got the ribeye with the special house sauce and I got the french dip. All so, so good. Definitely recommend for a night of great food and atmosphere. Tip: GPS won't tell you is to actually drive there. Make the turn of the main road before the restaurant, then it's the first turn on your left and you'll see signs. read more

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Sure there are traditional wood and a few cracks on the ceiling but it does give a great character. Moreover the service was great and the brunch was amazing. I am pretty great at judging food, so trust me when I say the filet mignon with eggs and their chicken and waffles were absolutely perfection. Highly recommend. Simply an amazing dining experience at Cowfish last night. I went there with my fiancé to celebrate my birthday and it was exceptional. I had chosen this place primarily because of the beautiful location by the water as well as the great reviews I had read. Well it surpassed expectations on all levels. My fiancé had the ahi tuna, which was outstanding. Cooked perfectly and the flavors were fantastic. I chose the prix fixe three course dinner since it happened to be LI Restaurant week and each course was delicious. I started with the steak tips appetizer and the dish was excellent. The sauce was bursting with flavor and the meat was excellent too. For my main course I had the scallops with butternut squash and it was simply perfect! Finally, I shared the apple crumb dessert, which is served with walnuts and ice cream and it almost put me in a sugar coma -but in a good way! Overall, we loved the restaurant. The setting is simply gorgeous and it is a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in eastern Long Island. read more

I came here with a group of friends for our final dinner while visiting the Hamptons. The service was great and fast, also quite attentive. The location was also beautiful and tucked back behind a bunch of buildings, so you wouldn't expect it! I ordered the seared ahi tuna which was amazingly cooked. However it came with fried rice which seemed to have been made with freshly cooked rice, which make it a little gluey. You will need to book a week+ in advance via Resy in the summer for prime dinner hours, so we did a late lunch instead. Lunch menu is a little simplified from the dinner offerings, but the favorites are all here. Food was cooked perfectly and delicious, service was practiced and professional, and the pacing of the meal was nicely managed to 1:45 with drinks and three courses. The banana cream pie actually was really disappointing. But everything else was fantastic. Great food, good price, excellent service, beautiful place and view. Really had a wonderful experience. There is a fun outdoor bar that is part of the restaurant but seperate and was a perfect start to our night. So nice to sit out there and have a drink. We were seated for dinner on one of the second floor decks after a short wait, and the view of the water was great. Loved the buffalo shrimp, although I wish we had them after the fried oysters, which had a subtler flavor that was overpowered by the shrimp. Brought my girlfriend here for our anniversary. We both got a rum punch and they were ridiculously good. (They also use paper straws, so another thumbs up on helping the environment!) She ordered the Salmon and I ordered the seared ahi tuna. I don't even like salmon that much, but it was delicious. My tuna was out of this world! So fresh and so good! The price is a little high (was about $100 plus tip for 2 drinks and a meal each) but i'm not lying when i tell you it was well worth every penny. The scenery on the water is also phenomenal and even if i didn't like the food, i would go here for drinks and that awesome sunset they have to offer! Waited for a very long time, gave my name to two different employees servicing the pickup crowd to no avail, finally had to go in and find out what was going on. They'd given my meal to someone else. Totally unapologetic, dismissive, rude, etc. Typical Hamptons attitude. I think I'll pass on ordering pickup from them when the second wave hits. I suggest you do the same. We had an awful experience at Cowfish and will never go back. We'd heard good things about the food, so we went there one night at 5:45, hoping for an outdoor table. We were told there was a 45 minute wait to sit outside. Fair enough, we didn't have a reservation and we were walk-ins. So we made a 5:45 reservation for a few nights later, and when we showed up promptly that night, we were told there was (stop me if this sounds familiar) a 45 minute wait to sit outside. At Cowfish, having a reservation is no better than not having a reservation. "But you're welcome to sit outside and have some drinks," the hostess said. The clear bait-and-switch here is to sell you as much booze as possible until you're next in line for an open table. No thanks. read more

Ordered take out for Mothers Day dinner and was expertly handled. They come to the car with gloves/masks- you don't have to move...super friendly and easy. Food is always delicious but this time I got the Brussel Sprouts, Gibbs burger and Ribs which were amazing!!! Best burger I ever had. As always I ordered the cornbread and it disappears immediately! My family loved their meals and we splurged on the decadent skillet cookie and Boston cream pie (what is in that crust??? YUM)...smiles all around. Love this place!! Cute 'lil salads were delicious as were our main courses; divers scallops and blackened ahi tuna. Good, friendly service and a great scenic spot rounded out the evening.
