LOVE this place when it's off season. During high season it's impossible to get a table so I avoid it like the plague. But regardless, the restaurant is beautiful and the food as equally delicious. I've always received stellar service here from Wait staff, bartender, hostess and bussing staff. Seafood is super fresh and their added specials of the day are usually inventive and delicious as well. It looks like they also have a very happening bar happy hour scene both off and peak season. I'll be back soon for sure. read more

Hands down my favorite restaurant in the area! The brussel sprouts appetizer and the NOLA shrimp entree are mouthwateringly divine. Buffalo shrimp are also phenomenal. Highly recommend! read more

One of the best restaurant experiences ever. It started with complimentary valet parking which I had never experienced before. The view of the water is great outside of the restaurant, it made me feel like I was in an episode of Dawson's Creek. We got the simple salad which was a big portion even for the smaller size. The blackened fish sandwich was also a nice portion with strong flavor. My dish was the seared ahi tuna which had an extremely rich ponzu sauce. read more

Had a delicious wine pairing dinner last night. Food was absolutely wonderful. . . Red Kuri Squash Bisque, Pan-Seared Diver Scallops, Bond-in Short Rib, Seared Duck a L'Orange, and Chocolate Pot de Crème. All were paired with beautiful wines from Stags' Leap Winery. Everything flowed so nicely, nothing was rushed. The servers were on point. Just a great time! Sorry, I forgot to take photos. read more

First time here, we found this place looking at top rated restaurants in the Hamptons and being on the water and the nice menu/price fixed menu that was offered it seemed like a no Brainer. First off driving to this place in the dark is a lil difficult. Just kinda follow this path and smack you're there. No valet, and the lot is expansive so a lil hard to understand. The restaurant itself wasn't as romantic as we expected either. The food was fair, two of the items on my menu I wanted wernt able to be served and they would not substitute so basically an already limited price fixed menu was even more limited. Just overall disappointing. read more

so let me preface this review by saying I don't think their food is worth a 2.5 hour wait, or even an hour wait at that, but the views are!!! Their outdoor bar is the best place to have a drink, order a snack, play some cornhole, people watch and take in the view. I have been here a couple times now and had a great time at the outdoor bar both times. On this occasion we ordered the tuna poke (great and good portion!), the guac and chips (ok but overpriced, especially for how little guac they give you), the buffalo shrimp (GET THIS, favorite thing so far), and the hummus (delicious with huge chunks of garlic, yum!). For entrees, I tried the north fork salad which had great flavor but, as with most brussels sprout salads, was kind of hard to eat (you have to chew a lot to mash up the tough parts of the sprout). My husband ordered the clam chowder (just OK) and the special of the night, crab cakes, which were delicious. We also tried a sushi roll, the lighthouse, which I really expected to be fresher... Their service is pretty good and they are pretty accurate about their wait times which is good. The outdoor bar gets really crowded but the staff does a great job keeping up and we never waited for more than 5 minutes to place an order! my one tip: avoid the upstairs back room as much as possible- it's an enclosed patio that overlooks the outdoor bar/marina but you really can't see out and it has no ambiance! all the other dining areas are good though. read more

Cowfish, but hold the fish. When I was just a young whippersnapper, my grandfather kept his fishing boat across the marina from Cowfish. I had not dined there since I was just tall enough to see over the hood of a car and could be satisfied by a plain burger with fries. Well, after hearing the name over and over, I thought it was time to revisit the old marina and indulge in fresh seafood with a view. Unfortunately, there was little fresh local seafood to be found at a restaurant that sits so proudly on the bank of the bay. If you were so pleased, you might choose from Atlantic Salmon, Hudson valley trout, lobster stuffed mushrooms, ahi tuna, scallops, or mussels. How about some Fluke? Halibut? Sea Bass? Something caught within 200 miles of the front door? None of these fish were the star of the dish; sure, the scallops might have been fresh if you wanted to eat them with candied bacon risotto. What happened to just serving fresh fish without sauce? If the fish is fresh, it doesn't need to be swimming in a cream sauce. We took it out of the water for a reason; why drown what is already dead? The menu options are an afterthought when you look out at a bar filled with drunkards who couldn't put a collard shirt on to save their life. Cowfish is not a fine dining establishment at all; it is a bar that serves mediocre food at Hampflation level prices. Without a decent selection of fish, I opted for the burger because it was the cheapest thing on the menu, and I did not feel like spending money on disappointment. Well, I was beyond disappointed with the burger. I would not come back here to eat. I might come back here for a drink. The only reason this place is not a 1 star is because they pay so much in property taxes and the view is pretty damn nice. read more

Excellent food. Beautiful views. Good drinks. Can get crowded and waits can be long for a table.

Went to Cowfish,we have not been there in a very long time and don't plan on going back. I ordered the "Reuben Like No Other" Smoked pastrami with sauerkraut and gruyere cheese. Well it was extremely greasy and someone forgot the smoked pastrami,it was corned beef and loaded with fat. It was not a good sandwich at all. read more

Quaint location and restaurant, especially the outdoor area and the window views, pretty good service, but unfortunately that's where it ends. I really wanted to love it, especially seeing pictures of their desserts, but we gave up before even getting to them because our meal was just one disappointment after another. The worst item we got was surprisingly the baked oysters. It was mostly breading and the oysters were barely there. What oysters we managed to unearth were also tough. And despite how it looked, it was lacking in flavor. Our main course seemed like it came from frozen sources. Our brussels sprout salad was limp and didn't seem fresh, like maybe it was prepared the day before? The soup we had was probably the most flabor but it had way too much cream in it. It seems like a good place for casual gatherings with families with kids, where you're there for the space and so-so food. read more

I was a bit underwhelmed with our dinner. It was fine but not as good as some reviews. Everything came out super fast, we didn't have time to enjoy appetizers even. It felt rushed and like staff were more concentrated on getting us out of there. The grounds around are pretty and it's nice to have a drink by the water. But we wouldn't come back. read more

Cowfish - From the outside seating area in the garden - New American Near Me - Hampton Bays, New York

Start with finding the place... Waze was a little off and the restaurant is buried in the back of a Marina, off Montauk Hwy, through a serious of quick tunes down a driveway behind another seafood restaurant... once you pull into the rock filled parking area, you come to a beautiful and serene setting on the bay. It's like pulling up to someone's home with Adirondack chairs lined along the lawn overlooking the beautiful water and marinas. As for the food and service, consistent with the view, was excellent. Very professional and great choices. The buffalo shrimp, Clam Chowder soup and lobster roll were all excellent. $32 for a lobster roll is a little over the top, but it is meaty and tasty. Why not spoil yourself. The price is the only reason it gets a 4 star rating. Other than that, the food, menu and the ambiance is top notch and very laid back. read more

For all the hype (and by hype I mean people accepting a wait time of on average 1-2 hours even for parties of 2), you would think this place was exceptional, but I cannot say it was. We were given the wait time of about an hour and 45 min, but we had come warned so this wasn't as devastating as it may be for someone who has no idea. The valet service was nice and made their tricky lot easier. We were given a buzzer and told to wait wherever, so we walked around the property towards the boat that supposedly took you to another little bar where people often wait. The boat was there, as was the sign saying "text ... for service to ___" (don't remember what it was called). Well, we texted and waited, and at no point were told the boat shuttle was not in service. Cool. We order drinks at the outdoor bar and also decide to get an app there to hold us over. This was a huge plus and I'd recommend unless you perfectly plan your arrival to coming not hungry and being seated just as the hunger hits. Otherwise, it will be a loooong wait. Once we were finally seated, the poor service that we were NOT expecting to follow the long wait time began. The service was unbearably bad, to a point where we were literally flagging down anyone in sight to just get water. I'm not sure if it was something against our table, because the waitress actually took a full pitcher, filled up the water of the table next to use and then moved to fill up the table's on the other side of us. No water for us apparently. However not just in that situation did our waitress either disappear, hang by the bar out of earshot (despite flailing arms as part of our efforts), or simply walk by us repeatedly without once turning to check on us. The food itself was fine - nothing special. I got the corn side which had way too much curry and the fish sandwich could have been split by probably 3 people. Having just had dental work, I couldn't commit to any large dish, so I asked if I could get the kids fried shrimp. The waitress explained it was only two pieces of shrimp, but that was actually perfect since I was really having trouble chewing. And this was perfect because it came with a drink (I got a coke) and ice cream all for $9! The fried shrimp was the perfect portion for me, so that worked out. The curry corn side was way too heavy on the curry and I would not ever get that again. The slaw that came with some of the dishes was amazing! Towards the end, they came over with an extra plate of salmon, which was clearly not for our table, delivered by what seemed to be a manager. We turned it away as we were already done and had not sent back salmon. Another manager then came and asked my friend if she got the salmon, which she did, and proceeded to ask if it had been ok once it was sent back. Still not us. While obviously this shows them trying, the fact that two people thought our table had sent it back means someone else wasn't getting the attention they needed and only now were we getting attention we didn't need! Also made it feel very unorganized like no one had any idea how to handle this many people, which I really just don't understand considering this place is notorious for their wait time/crows! I get that (most) people going there understand that the wait time will be long and that's part of the experience of going here. However, given that this place KNOWS every person inside has waited for MINIMUM an hour and most likely closer to 2 or more, that they'd make the service experience a little better. That is to say, it's not the wait staff's fault there is a long wait, but knowing how long you've been waiting is reason to make sure everything else is worth it and in this case, I can't truly say it was. read more

Great food and people service is great. The menu has a lot to choose from. Drinks are great

When Barbara Corcoran's assistant recommended Cowfish as her "favorite place" to eat in South Hampton we had to give it a try... Spot on! My wife said their Reuben was the best she has ever had... she said the pastrami was so good she could eat it without the cheese or sauerkraut or 1000 island or even the bun.. The iced tea was excellent ... The slightly blackened salmon was outstanding and the cauliflower was seasoned just right. Will absolutely be back! read more

Obsessed with the Buffalo shrimps and the location !! Definitely recommend trying it out!

Their salmon is so fresh!! When I went with my fiancé's birthday and tried all their appetizers they were SUPER tasty.

This is one of my favorite places! I just love their vibe and their food. This was another day with my father celebrating his birthday, it's now a yearly tradition to come here on his birthday. He loves their rum punch as so do I. Definitely stop by to enjoy the views and delicious food if you're around this area. read more

Cowfish never disappoints! I always want to say a big "thank you" to David and Rachel Hersch for having one of the BEST happy hours around (really, the only one) for such great value and wonderful, tasty, generous offerings. We were well-taken-care-of by our favorite server RITA who is the BEST!!!! Rita is the most attentive, friendly, skilled waitperson ever, and she always makes us feel so special and pampered. Even though we were only there for a couple of (happy) hours, it was wonderful and Rita made it more so! Thank you to Cowfish for all that you stand for. read more

Here for me and my daughter's b'day. Views overlook the marina. Nice enough day. Had good mojitos although they were on the light side. Apps: deviled eggs. A good dose of relish and crispy bacon bits on top. It was pretty good. Buffalo shrimp was deep fried cover in buffalo sauce and paired with blue cheese. Had a light spicy kick, shrimp was a good size. I had the fried oyster as my entree, lot of batter. Seemed like the oyster were decent size, didn't get lost on the batter. My daughter had the seared ahi tuna. Rare inside, cooked well but could've been slight more brown. Looks like the pan was not hot enough. Had a soy based sauce, she enjoyed it. Her husband had the jumbo sea scallops which they both said was very salty. But had a good cook, just done in the center. We had the skillet cookie topped with vanilla ice cream for our b'day. Super duper sweeeeet....I suppose it should be. Wait staff was very good. Much better food than Rumba next door. read more

Such an unpleasant experience here. They screwed up our reservation time and were not the least bit apologetic. They found a way to get us seated, but they were unkind while doing so and defensive about the mix-up. Food was subpar. Messed up my drink order twice. They took away our plates before we were finished and didn't ask if we were done before doing so. They evidence complete lack of attention to their customers. If they paid attention at all rather than rushing us out, they would have noticed they were taking away plates in the middle of us chewing. Suffice to say, our family will not be going back. Overall, I really really do not recommend. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Always great food service and location. One of our local favorites. Consistently good. . I dont understand some of the negative feedback i read here on the Valet. They have always provided great friendly and professional service for me. and I'm not sure if people realized if parking was just left to the patrons during the busy season ( considering how many park their cars like they are made of glass lol) ) they would probably only fit about a third of the cars causing many to be be turned away. read more

Went to Cowfish recently and was disgusted by how mean the wait staff was. A recent review by "Paran S" stated that he felt he was discriminated against at Cowfish. Well I can say this...I'm white and I received the same nasty attitude. I think they discriminate against HUMAN BEINGS. Either our waitress is not getting paid enough and is taking it out on the customers or she's just nasty in general. Hello GM!!! Are you paying attention?!!! I've been dining at your restaurant for years and I've never experienced such a nasty service. Not to mention, every single menu item went up $3-$5. Big tables that pay over $400 for dinner service should be greeted with nothing but respect...or at least a smile. Instead, we got eye rolls, teeth sucking and huffing & puffing. Food was good. No complaints there. They're lucky I'm giving 3 stars. Fix this issue please. read more

The restaurant is on the marina and you can take the boat from one restaurant to the other. We had their Merlot and Berry White cocktails for drinks. The shrimp was alright but mainly because I am not a big fan on blue cheese (just a personal preference). For entrees we had the lobster roll and wedge salad.
