Server was more friendly towards the bigger table, because tips. I opted for the peach burbon French toast special, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Food came out quickly, and I dug in. The French toast was oversoaked, leading to an egg ring but perfectly custardy bites inside. The sear was a little too hot leading to some black bits on the outside, but the inside was perfectly cooked. So the chef has technique but lacks refinement. The peach burbon sauce didn't really taste like much. It was sweet and the peaches were firm, but no actual peach flavor. It reminded me of peach pie filling with no other flavor other than sugar. Again, not bad just not great either. The burbon was undetectable, and the ice cream was from a box, not a strong vanilla flavor but creamy and cold. Gave it a nice temperature contrast from the piping hot toast. The dish came to 21 bucks, with 6 of it coming from the ice cream. It's not cheap, but it's not good enough to justify the upcharge nor the price tag of the dish itself. If there was freshly whipped cream, peach burbon sauce that was made to order or at least made fresh then left to simmer through breakfast service then thinned out with burbon when served might've helped. Maybe even offer some protein on the side like a brown sugar candied bacon, then there might be enough done to elevate the dish to the 15 dollar price tag. It's perfectly fine diner grub with a bit of style and pizazz put on it. Perfectly fine for a basic date night with the price tag to match a swanky restaurant. Expect good enough, and that's what you'll get.
