Oh the service was just terrible. Everyone was kind and polite, really nice folks I'm sure. But it was just so so slow. We sat for 15 minutes before they even asked us if we wanted coffee. It took another 10 before they took our order and an additional 35 minutes before our food even got there. My french toast was cold, dry, and flavorless. I asked for some lemon wedges. The waitress asked someone else to get them for her and then she didn't show up with them. I called her over and told her I never got the lemon and she said she would get them but it took another 3 minutes. Find some place else to go. read more

I wouldn't consider Country Kitchen the best place in Redding to have a breakfast and I wouldn't consider any place in redding a 5-star breakfast restaurant. The Country Kitchen has an interesting lay-out that can be comfortable in some areas and tightly fit for others. The staff is more than helpful, but when busy they do not seem to be nearly as personable as one may like. I had a very basic breakfast (eggs, country potatoes, country sausage, bacon, and a biscuit) that was fairly good. Portions were a good size to fill up most customers. Today was my first visit to this establishment. I met with 3 buddies (all retired) for breakfast and kimiserate about hotrods. It reminded me of those movies where senior men meet for breakfast at the local cafe and talk about life. I had the Belgian Waffle with a side order of hash browns. The food was very good with ample portions. The service was excellent, second to none. She routinely checked on us and refilled our coffee. We plan to meet once a month here on in. We had a great breakfast, great food, great service, and shared great stories. The only drawback is the parking. It's cramped and can be difficult to find a spot. 'Tis what 'tis..... We were killing an hour while waiting for an installation over at Best Buy, and my daughter and granddaughter were desparate for eat-out food.... they've been staying with us in Hayfork for a couple of months now, and Hayfork doesn't have a lot of eat-out food. So I took them out for a leisurely breakfast here. Well, she ordered the biscuits and gravy, and there was Plenty of it, but it was bland and lifeless. We ended up getting a box to-go, so I could take them home for our compost pile. They have cardboard boxes for to-go, so it's compostable! Wee-hoo!! The servings were huge, and the wait-staff was cheerful and helpful, and checked on us regularly. All that was just fine.... I found it fascinating to people-watch here. Most of the clients were older than me, so they were REALLy old. The wait-staff knew a lot of them by name. Seeing as Hayfork is so boring, I was kind of fascinated by the factoid that if I lived in Redding, I could totter down to this place daily, and have lots of fun meeting old chums and getting treated well by staff. Ah, what I would pay for the ability to socialize with people who aren't living in Hayfork!! Including fairly stout prices for mediocre food, albeit piled high and deep. I got a huevos rancheros for $9.99, and it was okay, but after a few bites I was full and had enough. I tried to push off some of it on my non-biscuits-and-gravy-eating daughter, and she helped out, but we still ended up leaving a bunch on the plate. Hm. We have gone to Country Kitchen for many years. The waitresses know us by name, and are very friendly and attentive. We usually go there for breakfast, and I love their omelets which are stuffed with tasty and fresh ingredients. The cinnamon rolls are fresh baked, HUGE, and the best in town. I was very excited to try this place and boy was I disappointed. We were there shortly before closing and we ordered two basic breakfasts. It came out pretty quickly. My hashbrowns tasted like they could have had good flavor but were cooked on a dirty grill in dirty grease and that was all I tasted. Our waitress never came to check on us and I was wanting some condiments not on our table. The banana bread was pretty tasty. They give us a slight discount for the hashbrowns but I won't go back. Also, the owners should probably look into the practice of locking the door when they close when the building is sill full of people. Major safety/fire hazard. My wife and I went there on a Tuesday morning and got a booth and it was not crowded and pleasantly quiet for conversation. Our waittress looked experienced but did not seem to want to answer any questions about the menu. We agreed the omelettes we ordered were mediocre and when I asked a simple question about the check the waittress seemed to get flustered and confused so we left feeling it could have been a better experience. read more

I ordered the Eggs Florentine. It was delicious and did not have an overwhelming seafood taste. A man of few words who is not exactly what I would call a "foodie" commented on his dish and said "Someone back there gives a shit. My meal tastes great." I agree. The country kitchen is a decent restaurants that have breakfast in a lot of times they will have a steak and eggs special they have pretty good sausage patties there and their omelets are decent what sets the Country Kitchen aside from other restaurants in Redding is there signature cinnamon roll! They only make a few a day and they try to save them for their regular customers for eating at the restaurant but they are the most awesome cinnamon rolls their very large kind of spending very sticky and very good one cinnamon roll would be enough to split with three other people! The reason for the 3 stars is that Dozer food is good I wouldn't say that it's incredible but it is decent and the atmosphere is pretty good as well read more

We have eaten at Country Kitchen for both Breakfast and Lunch a few times. We went in for a late breakfast this time. The service was good, the gal seated us right away and brought out our drinks. I felt like the breakfast was a little bit off this time. I could really taste the flour in the Breakfast Gravy (Biscuits & Gravy), the Bacon was good, but the sausage was greasy. Overall the everything was just ok. I will say that the prices were slightly higher than other local restaurants for breakfast, and I don't care to have to read between a bunch of banner advertisements in their menu. Honestly, it seems very cheap to have ads on the menu, then charge higher than area prices for a meal. Just my humble opinion. We will probably give them another try in the future. read more

Our first and last time to eat there! Took 50 minutes from the time we walked in to get our food. Ended up having to take it to go because of other appointment. When we got the food home, my hot pastrami on rye ended up being on a roll and had no cheese. My husband's chili burger was missing it's cheese and my father in law ended up with bacon on his cheese burger. I wish it was possible to give this restaurant zero stars cause that's what this place deserves. My experience here was one of the worst I have ever had while going out to get a meal. I had heard nothing but good things about country kitchen and I was promised by one of my co workers that it would become one of my regular places. Boy were they wrong. When I first walked in I was waiting to be sat by the host, they weren't very busy at the time and no one approached me to seat me in no timely fashion. Even though I saw many employees standing around having there own side conversations it looked like. The host finally sat me and I noticed there were a lot of tables (more than half of the back room) that had plates all over them and looked like they had been there a while. I was sat in the back on the right side of there big room kinda just stuck in the corner and the table I was sat at was dirty and sticky so I asked the host if they could wipe it off and I received an attitude from them which I wasn't happy with. Anyway I looked over the menu and the food didn't sound too exiting comparable to Denny's there were a lot of choices but the prices were a little high for a hole in the wall diner place like it is.Almost 7 bucks for a grilled cheese or an egg salad sandwich and no refills on any juices that's a little high. Finally my sever came and got my drink orders about 10 mins after I had been sitting there. I got my coffee and my cup had lipstick stains all over it which I sent back and did receive a new one. I decided to go with the Denver omelet with a side of country potatoes. I wish I hadn't The potatoes were burnt I couldn't even eat them. And the ham inside tasted like it had been frozen. And I have a feeling my whole omelette had been microwaved to heat it up after it had been sitting around. The food was just terrible there was nothing good about it. I was curious so I asked the dishwasher if the food was made with fresh ingredients and I quote he said most of it comes right from Sysco boxes to the line. Doesn't sound like fresh handpicked ingredients that the menu stated they have been doing for over 40 years. And I had one cup of coffee and it was never filled again. So I asked for my check and was told to go up front and pay and leave the tip on the table. Yea right like I was gonna leave a tip for this terrible food and service. Then while waiting to pay I can see back Into the kitchen and an older gentleman was yelling at one of the girl servers I'm pretty sure and I saw him take off his apron and storm out. So it also seems like they have some issues going on maybe that's why everything is so terrible. I will never recommend this place to anyone and I will never eat here again. I usually have a vegetarian omelet, tasty. My husband likes the French Toast but they quit making it with Texas Toast a long time ago.. It was delicious then. now just ok. We have bought bread from the bakery. Love the baked goods. If you can get in there on a Sunday you are lucky. We love to go . Wait time is just right. When we went for Brunch the other day, I decided to order a Crossiant Chicken sandwich and as I was dreaming of this wonderful clear cut sandwich that I use to buy down in Willows, many years ago, it had lighter on mayo and lettuce and avocado, tomatoes and fresh baked chicken. What I got was this flatten out Croissant with a sauce and cooked mushrooms and chicken. Actually not dietic but it was so good! So today is 2020. My family meets up here for breakfast every Sunday morning. It's a classic and tasty spot for breakfast and lunch. The staff are friendly and personable, they make an effort to remember you and will customize orders when need be. They always have hot fresh coffee and pastries when the craving hits. I really appreciate their vegetarian option, the spinach dip sandwich is delicious! They also have a "kids corner" which is SO genius and considerate. I wish more restaurants did something like that! Just a small out of the way corner with toys and books for little ones. The only downside is that it gets packed right about 9 o'clock and service can slow down, but hey it's popular what do you expect! Love it, thanks country kitchen ! read more

Haven't eaten here since moving to Oregon in 2005 and was very pleased to enjoy an excellent breakfast this morning. I had the country sausage, eggs over easy, hash browns and toast which were served in a very timely and efficient manner by a friendly and smiling waitress. First, the staff was excellent. I am on a specific diet and my waitress went out of her way to find something that would accommodate my needs even though the menu said no substitutions. All the people there are friendly and helpful with a real desire to please. That being said their food is horrible. I have not had an omelet that bad in ages. I ordered the build your own. The ingredients seemed fresh but the execution of the dish was very poor. The eggs were cooked separate from the rest of the ingredients and came out as flat as a pancake and rubbery. The ingredients were then added as if it were a taco. There was no seasoning used in any part of the dish, it was very bland and disappointing. The owner contacted me. She informed me that they now review and respond to reviews. She also said they would buy my next meal and the mocha I never got. I have eaten here many times and was very disappointed in their policy today. I ordered a 'seasonal fruit' bowl that had half melon, apples, mushy pineapples and the other half was thawed mushy blueberries. I tried to catch my waitresses' eye to have her remove the frozen fruit and replace it with fresh, but finally just ate around the blueberries. When it came time to pay the check, I asked that $2 be taken off the $4.25 cost of the 'seasonal fruit'. The waitress took the bowl away to check with management. My favorite stop in Redding. I always stop for late breakfast ( eggs Benedict with moca) and take the club sandwich for the lake in the summer and in the winter for Mt Shasta to snowboard. Love the play area for little kids. The French toast, the waffles and the pancakes are to die for and when we are in a large group we order for the table to share in addition to our regular orders. By the time it came, people were half way done with their food. We asked for them to take it off our bill. The waitress sent the manager over. The manager acted very defensive and accused my friend of ordering her cinnamon roll in the middle of the meal, which was false. My friend said ok, forget it then, don't worry about taking it off the bill. (She wasn't about to get into an argument with them.) Sure enough, the $3 roll was on the bill when they brought it. We waited and waited for someone to come so he could get a new cup of coffee. As we were waiting I checked other creamers and most of them were thick and curdled.
