Came here after going to a couple of other places that were either closed or had a long wait and this place was on our way. It's very small, so there was about a 5 minute wait before a table opened up. There were only 2 people taking orders and serving food, but the place is so small that was plenty. If they had any more staff it would have been too crowded. They only serve breakfast, but have a lot of different options from pancakes & waffles, to omelets & eggs benedict, along with some Hawaiian and Mexican dishes. I had their Classic Breakfast, which included 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, with an upgrade to hashbrowns from home fries and toast. We got there around 12:30pm and the food came out very fast. And it was SO GOOD! Like, the best breakfast I've ever had and I'm not really a big breakfast person. SO, SO GOOD! I would definitely come back again if it was closer to my area. Unfortunately, it is too far for me to come on a regular basis. But definitely recommend! read more

My family and I came for an early Mother's Day lunch. I 'd been here before and it was great. The menu is updated and the food is still great. (Mentioning this because I went to IHOP recently and it's both more expensive and not so good. I hadn't been to IHOP in a while and was surprised at the quality.) We got 2 loco Mocos, a Portuguese sausage and egg, a huevos rancheros and an avocado Benedict. I also got the new deep fried pancake. It was 2 pancakes that are deep fried to finish them off. It reminded me of something like eating a donut pancake. Highly recommend! The food is real food and tastes fresh. It doesn't taste like premade frozen food or artificial. For drinks, we got vanilla cappuccino, strawberry matcha, orange juice, and plain ice teas. My strawberry matcha was nice. Not some watered down matcha but a good compliment to the homemade in house strawberry jam. I like the way they make it here. Service was great, everything was fast. Prices were good. Country Cafe is such a cozy, homey spot! My fiancé and I grabbed brunch here to start the day. We had a wait a bit to order but the staff did check in on us when they had time (they did seem very busy running around). My fiancé enjoyed his loco moco, it was super flavorful although on the heavy side. I wasn't that hungry, so I'm glad I was able to order a kid's meal. The chocolate chip add-on was so yummy! Stopped by country cafe while in the area today. It's easy to find, at the corner of 4th Street. Decently sized parking lot. The service was great, the waiter was polite and friendly. Inside the ambiance is nice, a little bit of a dinner feel,, the music is a little loud, but not too bad. I ordered the avocado toast with over medium eggs, and it came with home style potatoes. The potatoes were really good. The avocado toast was good. Not the best I've ever had, but it was good enough. The eggs may have needed a little more seasoning. Some of these reviews are wild lol. The place is a little cozy American county dinner. The menu consist of American/Mexican choices. Both times I've been here it's been pretty straightforward and the meals are good. Nothing fancy, nothing special. The gentlemen that are waiters have been nice and everything has been pretty quick. We've lived across the street from Country Cafe for about 3 years and we finally came to check it out. Why did it take us so long to do it?! I don't know! The interior of the restaurant was clean, and service was fast. And the food? *chef's kiss* delicious. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with Sausage and bf got the ABC Omelette. There's $25.43 I'll never get back again... What did that hefty price get me? Two overcooked scrambled eggs, a small bowl of cottage cheese, a single slice of what pretended to be wheat toast, with a tiny plastic container of what was supposed to be strawberry jelly, but mostly strawberry flavored water . I will say that the service was well-intentioned and pleasant and the setting was clean and generally comfortable. When the server came to ask if he could clear the plate and I said no, I'm still working on it for some reason he took the container of what was attempting to be jelly away. Was looking forward to ordering a nice waffle with berries cause it sounded good. But we were super hesitant on ordering a waffle for the price of $20. Nevertheless, we gave it a chance to see if it would be worth the price. Unfortunately, not at all. If you want waffles from this place, you might as well say you want pancakes. The "waffle" came out as if it made soggy and soft. No crunch of a waffle. Like a popeyes biscuit left out too long but still warm in the center. Whipped cream nothing special. But at least the popeyes biscuit had a crunch. You would also expect $20 to also get you an abundance of berries but a couple will do these days... The service was decent, friendly, what you would usually and should expect from any restaurant. I felt so bad when the server asked if the waffles were good, I just nodded and smiled. We usually tip but I think for the price of a singular waffle with berries, that should suffice. A silly joke and poor attempt at being a restaurant. An owner that can barely back into a parking spot, let alone run a foodservice business. She's clueless and will inevitably fail, and I'll be watching closely and laughing. Can't wait to see the "For Lease" signs on the space. A washed up laborer "serving" tables. He lies and makes excuses and treats guests like a burden. Makes no effort to accommodate guest orders and struggles with telling the truth. Wrong menu prices, hot food served as cold as if it sat in a refrigerator over night and super questionable quality product. Little details like nearly-moldy lemons in the drinks, dirty utensils with disgusting food stuck to them, ripped and tattered seats with wet food and crumbs stuck in them, and probably the cheapest, worst kind of eggs with pale yellow yolks. I wouldn't serve this food at a homeless shelter and I hope the entire staff goes into different fields. Had to make myself vomit once I got home from breakfast yesterday. Staff was very nice. We sat outside since we had our puppy! It was a hot day and they put umbrellas around us to shade the area. Food was delicious we had the chilaquiles verde!! 10/10!!! Went to Country Cafe because we wanted a simple breakfast nearby. It's a simple place with a few tables, and relatively clean interior. I say that because we were seated at a booth where the seat bench was torn up and taped over. Not a huge deal. It's a pretty good menu and I ended up getting the chilaquiles with green sauce. I asked if the red and green could be mixed together but he said no. Kind of odd, since they have two sauces, but oh well. My husband got the burrito and son got the kids' pancakes with chocolate chips which were $1 more. Kind of don't like that they charge that much for a few chips, the breakfast burrito was good according to my husband, and the chilaquiles were really good. I would go back for them, but hope that they would be a little more flexible on mixing the red and green sauces in the future! As we were finishing up, an Asian woman came and asked how everything was. I don't know if she's the owner or manager, but she was really nice and I love supporting small businesses. Unfortunately the food was nothing to write home about, it was overall pretty bland. The portions, however, were pretty decent and the cost was standard. Country boy biscuits and gravy 2/5: Pretty bland, not bad tasting, but I wouldn't order again. chilaquiles 2/5: Definitely not your authentic Mexican cuisine, it was definitely lacking in flavor. The beans tasted like something I'd get at a cafeteria, texture was thick. Corned beef has 2/5: In my opinion, it is rare to find a place that really does them right, and this place was no different. Yes, it is true that this one gone wrong. I should realize earlier when there is quite slow on table. I ordered a steak for medium cook, it came way over cooked. I returned dish asked cook rare. it came back as well done. not even scent of pink. portion, It is similar to filet mignon could be 6oz. biscuit and gravy went wrong as well, biscuit taste flour, gravy taste like fresh out of can. it is not worth to pay $40 for this disappointing food. Located right by the 55, this spot is super convenient for classic American food like burgers, country breakfasts, and more. The variety was what brought me in originally because it's just the type of food I like. I tried the patty melt and biscuits and gravy -- both of which were good but not great. My main issue was that the portion sizes felt small for an American restaurant, especially when compared to Suzy's Cafe and Yellow Basket, which both serve similar food. I'm a big fan of Country Cafe! Their food is always delicious, and the staff is so friendly! A couple of our favorite dishes are the Granola Pancakes and the Loco Moco. You really need to try them both! Also, if you like corned beef hash, they cook theirs just right - nice and toasty - YUM!!! Another note I need to point out is that they have vanilla creamer for your coffee. That is a big plus for me since I like sweetened, flavored coffee creamer They have indoor and outdoor seating areas. We usually sit outside, but it was chilly today, so we sat inside. I really enjoyed it - they played oldies music which was fun! Kinda gave a diner kinda feel! Now I have to mention that we like this spot best for breakfast - we've gone for lunch once, but it was just ok. But you definitely can't go wrong with breakfast!!! I really liked this cute little diner style breakfast spot. The service was friendly and the food was tasty. I ended up getting the Loco moco. Just as good as any of the other solid Loco moco spots in OC like stacks. My only complaint is that they don't really have a sides option on the menu. For example, I asked for a side of corned beef hash, and the server told me it would be $16 which is essentially the cost of ordering the corned beef hash plate. I think at stacks I can get a side corned beef hash for four or five bucks. It would be nice if they offered a side menu that offered a smaller portion for a reasonable price for things like bacon, hashbrowns, corned beef hash, etc.. This place is amazing! It's honestly so good I put my fork down to write this review as I'm still eating. The music is nice, vibe is cool, and staff is energetic and friendly. It's a bit hidden, so I'm bummed this is my first experience here. I live in Tustin and have a hard time finding great breakfast spots immediately near me other than 1 or 2 spots. This will absolutely be in our immediate rotation from now on. The food was so good, not heavy and greasy. Even the bacon has that great crisp without having grease all over it. We've been to Country Cafe a few times and we've always had a great experience. Service was always prompt and they have a good variety of breakfast options to choose from. My fave though is the eggs benny with avocado & bacon. Mind you, I am usually not an eggs benedict person. However, the combination of avocado and bacon is a winner for me so this is my go-to. I had tried their banana pancakes once and that one was just ok, so am sticking with my avo & bacon benny. My hubby has tried different items such as corned beef hash, hawaiian portuguese sausage and more recently, their country mix with scrambled eggs, diced ham & onions, which he truly enjoyed! He also loves the strawberry jam. So much so that he asked for seconds, lol. Highly recommend this place. There is rarely a wait, service is excellent and delicious food at a great value. read more
