Not what we were expecting at all...chicken Alfredo pasta was flavorless, shrimp was extremely over-fried, and the carrot cake...tasted like literal dirt, and wrapped poorly in a piece of food service paper instead of a container, icing side down. My fiancé and I were just passing through from San Antonio to Shreveport and decided to catch the lunch specials that go until 4 PM. Service was good and food came out quickly. Our waitress, Jamie, was very friendly. My fiancé got the chicken spaghetti and two sides. I got the 3 veggie & salad platter. It came out quickly but it was all kind of luke warm and didn't give the impression of being very fresh. The fried okra was over cooked (at least half of it was actually burnt) and was like it was kept under a warmer to get even more over cooked. Fries tasted old. The runner kind of slammed the plates down on the table as he came up from behind us. It actually startled me. If my fiancé had made any type of movement at that same moment, he could have easily knocked the plates out of his hands and onto the ground. Just awkward. It was all just mediocre. We didn't complain and left an appropriate tip, but we won't be back. read more

My husband and I went for a late lunch to Cotton Patch in Georgetown about a month ago. There wasn't more than a couple of tables with people there to eat. We were seated by a loud, obnoxious man who was yelling a conversation with someone in the kitchen on his way up to the host stand to seat us. I won't even say greet us because it wasn't a greeting. The floor was sticky and the tables were sticky! Yuck. But we stayed. So we had a young man as our server who indicated it was his first day. We ordered. The food was pretty good but the whole time we were there I tried to not touch the table with my hands. I felt bad for our new server. He didn't do anything wrong except that it took him about 15 minutes to come to our table initially for drink orders and possibly to go ahead and take our order. I informed my husband we would not be going back to Cotton Patch Cafe. He agreed. Then he said maybe we just need to try a different location. read more

My parents rave about this place, so I was thrilled when my parents decided to go with us. We showed up on a Monday for their chicken fried steak/chicken deal. My mom also had an email for a free entree. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated so it was definitely busy. We ended up at a small table but that was my mom's fault for telling them four and two kids instead of 5.5. Oh well, not a big deal. We all squeezed in. They brought out some hot rolls immediately (1 for each of us). We ordered relatively quickly and they got our drinks out to us. It all went downhill from there. The wait wasn't horrible, but we noticed that the table next to us got their food first and we had been there well before them. When the food came out, my dad had gravy on his chicken fried steak and on the side. He had asked for it on the side like the rest of us, but somehow got it on both. Oh well, he wasn't going to complain. My mom got some sort of fish topped with shrimp. She took a bite and immediately spit it out. It was cold. Not warm... cold. Eek! We let the waitress know and she was very kind and took it back. My son also asked for some more rolls. My mom helped feed the kiddos while she waited for her food to come out. My food was good. The mashed potatoes were tasty. If I had any complaint, a few of the carrots on my plate were a little under cooked, but it wasn't that bad. My husband then went to bite his broccoli and realized that it was all under cooked... or not really cooked at all. He wasn't going to complain thinking that he could just take it home and cook it some more, but my mom let the waitress know. She took it back and let us know that she would bring another and wouldn't charge us. I'm hoping that she was joking... of course you wouldn't. We were all done eating and my mom's plate still hadn't come out so she asked for it in a box. The waitress brought it out and gave my mom the box and had her box it up herself. We never got our extra rolls. We got our check and they never took off the free meal. When the waitress came, we let her know and she said she would take it off and we gave her the card. The checks come back to sign and she had in fact still charged us for it. So... we had to wait for her to redo the transaction. Oh my... what a mess this was! I had been here once last year and didn't review out of laziness. I love this place! I was craving good catfish so decided to give it a try. Let me start with how welcoming they were to my service dog... there are some true dog lovers in this place. I was with family and we decided to be be really "bad" and ordered THREE appetizers. We had the Cowboy Queso, the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Chicken Fried Bacon. All three were delicious but the star of the three were the Fried Green Tomatoes! We ordered the catfish and shrimp combo for our meal. The catfish is cooked to perfection and I was one happy diner. The Jalapeño Hushpuppies were very good, the fried shrimp was run of the mill but cooked well and the french fries were lacking which didn't matter to me because I had had my fill of fried foods! If you are looking for fancy seafood this is not your place but if you want delicious fried everything and extra friendly service then I'll see you here! read more

Online ordered 2 meals for pick up. Fish was prepared well and tasted good. Sides were good & correct. Ordered skillet of cornbread and received hard, stale piece of bread that had to be from previous day. Ordered peach cobbler which was served frozen solid. No ice cream was given. Called and manager said they'd give this items for free on next visit. But this meal was ruined. This is second incident with this location. Either eat in, check order carefully before leaving or est elsewhere. read more

I drove all the way up here yesterday to eat with my parents and my uncle, Gary. But hey, I can't pass up a free meal. I'd eaten here once late last year with my parents, so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. I almost got the club sammich, and I really wish I had gotten that instead of the 6-oz steak. The steak wasn't terrible, mind you, but I've had much better. It was bland tasting, so there were no spices on it whatsoever. What else did I get? Oh yeah, onion strings and green beans. Meh to middlin'. I think the complimentary bread was the best-tasting thing, and it wasn't even that good. Our waiter was nice enough, but not very attentive. Tea glasses stayed empty for too long. In fact, I was never offered a refill on mine. When he delivered our food, I mentioned that I needed silverware. That shouldn't take more than, like, 40 seconds to produce, right? Go grab a roll of silverware and bring it back, right? Five minutes later, I finally had silverware. No, five minutes isn't a long time to wait, but when you're watching your food cool down and you're waiting to get something which takes absolutely no prep time, five minutes seems like an eternity. And here's the really stupid thing: The last time I went here with my parents, I ordered the exact same dish (but with a baked potato instead of green beans). I knew then that it wasn't a great steak, but I ordered it again yesterday for some dumb reason. My mother ordered the half soup (baked potato) and half sammich (club). She liked the soup, but she wasn't too crazy about the club. That's not to say I wouldn't like it, though, so if I eat with them here again, I'll give the club a shot. It looked good, anyway. My dad got the meatloaf, which he very much enjoyed. My mother got the meatloaf last time we came, and she gave it a glowing review. Gary got the CFS with garlic mashed potatoes and something else. He was pretty impressed with it, and this is a man who eats a lot, so you can trust him on food. He once got thrown out of a buffet for eating too much. So, Cotton Patch gets three stars because the rest of my family enjoyed their food. Had I eaten there alone, I probably would give it two stars. My parents are regular patrons of this place, so I have no doubt I'll be back. Note to self: Don't be an idiot next time; order something other than the steak. read more

The meatloaf search continues, another place another day in the ever elusive search for the best meatloaf around the area. So the drive to Georgetown to one of the new shopping areas I found a restaurant called Cotton Patch. Now with a name like that I am thinking wabbits lots of wabbits. Looking around I did not see any silly wabbits. I entered and was seated quickly and started reviewing the menu. What did I see on the menu in plain sight was you guessed it wabbit food menu. I know you were thinking meatloaf, ha! So if you want wabbit food it is here, I bet you can even get a head of lettuce if you want, I know my healthy friend would eat it. However, since I am a carnivore I looked for the meat, yes dead cow or dead chicken that's what I want. Now we are cooking, I found it meatloaf; I ordered meatloaf and a baked potato with butter lots of butter, yes cholesterol jumper, blood pressure riser and guess what I ordered broccoli also, good and healthy, wait I had it covered with cheese, "yum, yum" another killer! It also came with a small roll and even more butter. I loved the bread and got another one as well. Going back to a bit before I ordered I saw about 10 things I wanted to order including the chicken fried steak, fish and chips and a giant double burger. The menu was very large. How was the food, the broccoli with cheese was good, the baked potato was good the bread was great and the meatloaf, well it was disappointing. It seems to have no flavor maybe to much filler I don't know. The restaurant was very nice, clean, service fine; they have a nice outdoor patio to sit on a nice day with a view no less (see pictures)! Would I go back? Good evening all We ate here tonight 02/16/2022. Food was excellent service was slow but expected. Me and the wife didn't like having to wait 30 minutes for a to go order. For it being February dinning room felt like a ice box to cold. There was a lot of commotion coming from the kitchen. The cook was not happy, please fix that. The waitress were friendly and helpful. Overall Our experience was delight full. I would like the manager to be more present in the Dining room. Also rolls were not offered on this night not sure why? I came here because my Nina wanted to eat here and she wanted me to try it. She has eaten at a Cotton Patch but I don't think at the Georgetown location. Funny thing is that I live in TX and she lives more than 3000 miles away. She said the bread is her favorite part. Of course, who doesn't love carbs?! We were seated by the nice hostess and then our waiter was a guy. Not sure his name but he was okay. Could be a bit more attentive but he seem confused or maybe thought of my uncle as weird. What he didn't know is that my Uncle has cancer and dementia. But we don't need to explain this to him or anyone hence we went on. Maybe that's why he didn't come back as often. And when he was, it seemed as if it rushed. Now the food was okay. The fried green tomatoes were awesome with the avocado ranch. I tried my Nina's strawberry chicken salad and that was good also.I ordered the fish tacos and it was edible but not OMG good. The fish was cooked well but the darn tortillas was hard as heck. I don't know what they did but boy it was harder than the tortilla chips they give you as a side. I will never order it again. I didn't send it back because we all know the rules about sending back food. Now the bread was alright. Not as soft as I thought but okay. The waiter forgot about that too after asking us if we'd like some. So overall this restaurant is your normal American food. Something you can cook at home but choose not to. Nothing special but maybe I was just bothered by the service. Clean restaurant and sweet hostess. **UPDATE** I received a gift certificate from management due to my previous review. Susan called me and we spoke l about the issue. Last week I was extremely tired and did not want to cook. Took my Mom and son out here to try. My food was good. I ordered the Cesar salad with salmon and that avocado ranch. I love that ranch. My salmon was cooked perfectly. My mom orders sweet potato fries with her meal and it was so good. We used to love Cotton Patch but yesterday's dining experience was the worst. The staff was desultory and inattentive and the food was terrible. Our heavily drenched in dressing salads came out with cornbread that was so hard and stale it sounded like a hockey puck hitting the plate. We were served old vegetables (yellow squash with browned edges and carrots that were cracked and white). The broccoli rice casserole was dried out and crusty. The piece de resistance was the chicken fried steak in a pool of grease with the grey colored meat inside. Just moved here and am obsessed with this place!! Everything I've had is amazing and so fresh. This is my new go to!! The potato soup is to die for! Made from scratch and so rich and flavorful. The Turkey club and Cesar salad is my favorite. Even the dressings are made from scratch! They have a variety of options too that all look amazing. Yum yum the meatloaf, the fried chicken, pork chops are all super tasty. The baked squash, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and corn are all tasty. The tortilla soup is excellent, I don't care for the spaghetti but that is just me. The desserts are great according to my husband, the Coca Cola cake was very sweet to me. Cotton Patch is a little difficult to find back in the furthest, northwest corner of the shopping center. But once I entered I was greeted promptly and seated. A server came and walked through some of the menu items with me. I guess from growing up and going to so many Texas cafes across the state, I had to break out my café measuring stick of chicken fried steak (or country fried steak to my Yelp friends in other regions). The steak appears enormous even in its lunch iteration and it comes with the standard cream gravy. But I'm afraid that's where the appearance and the reality separate Cotton Patch from other cafes. The meat was tough despite being very thin and there was a TON of breading. The taste was fine but not above average. I understand, it's tough being a chain in a state where CFS are king. I will probably go back and try the chicken and dumplings which looked good on the menu. But I've got mom and pop shops who can kick out a better CFS during lunch hour. The service and cleanliness are very good and it def warrants another try on my part, but I'll leave the CFS to the blue-haired maestros of home town cafes lol read more

But the pecan and strawberry salad was disappointing. I would give a -5 review!! Sooo pissed at this location!! We order Door Dash, ordered chicken fried chicken and tenders.. waiting for almost an hour for the food and when it arrives, no gravy?! Really?!!!! If you have tried their chicken you know what I am talking about.. it is an essential part of the whole meal.. I called to report the incident talk to this Alex manager and the only thing she can tell me is she's keeping my receipt for next time! I told her I want refund but she doesnt want to give it.. Horrible service and horrible food. We walked in and 3 of the hostesses just stared at us like they had no idea why we were there. Left it to us to be the ones to greet. Took just under 10 minutes for our waiter Sophia to come and and just get us drinks. She was awful too, terrible attitude. We waited a really long time and finally asked another waitress for some condiments so my son could eat his meal. Food was awful, got the grilled cheese because I was feeling a lighter meal. It was cold and had what seemed like one slice of cheese in it. I got steamed veggies on the side and I got about 9 pieces of vegetable to replace the crappy fries they serve, my son didn't even want to eat them. Food was decent. Really salty, but it happens. Store was clean. Happy faces on the staff. The reason I needed to leave a review is because somehow our waitress got lost at times and another had to step in. So, if you go, be sure to ask to be seated in Lynessa's section. She had her own tables to worry about, but was happy to serve us in our server's absence. We didn't even have to ask. She saw and was very attentive, consistently. I give the restaurant three stars due to the over-saltiness of the food. I give Lynessa FIVE STARS because she's fantastic. I give our original server... a suggestion: Do better. read more

It pains me to write this, because we live locally and have been to this location numerous times over the years. Our last visit was terrible. We should have left when we were seated and walked past several unbussed tables, food and napkins on the floor and were sat at a table that had been bussed, but not wiped down. We could see the kitchen floor and it was a greasy mess as well. Things did not get better once we ordered. Several sides were not available as were 2 choices of salad dressings. There were so many unbussed tables, that they ran out of dishes and our food got cold waiting for them. I watched both managers, servers and greeters continuously walk over the dirty floor, past dirty tables and doing nothing. When we left, 3 staff we at the greeters stand staring a their phones...and the place was still a mess. Sadly, this was on Mother's Day with my wife and our 4 girls...none of which will ever return to this location until there are major improvements. We spoke with the manager and she acknowledged the situation...but nothing was done about it. In full disclosure, we got 25% off our bill. But I'm just glad nobody got sick.
