Wow, I'm so happy that I learned Cotoletta Miami Beach/South of Fifth is open now. We were thrilled with our visit and are looking forward to a return.
You know the drill from the other places these folks run: there's a prix fixe menu for two. (For regular eaters, not vegans or vegetarians - don't even think about it, folks: "cotoletta" refers to a cut of meat, and that's what they serve.) It's $90 total (unless you want the truffle supplement, which brings it to $125) and it includes an amuse, two appetizers, one main (the eponymous cotoletta/schnitzel) and two sides (there are four or five from which to choose). Although it's next to a chain churrascaria, the restaurant is nice inside - clean and modern - in a good area (right near Milos) with mellow sidewalk seating should the weather suit. Service is smiling and friendly and gracious. There is a full bar with some interesting Italian cocktails and wines recommended at reasonable prices; not a whole lot of beers from which to choose, but it's a cotoletta place, not a schnitzel place, eh?
The food is VERY delicious: crispy, flavorful, perfectly cooked veal. The drinks are very delicious - if you like Negronis, get the San Salvatore cocktail, oh boy. The wines we had were very delicious and complemented the zest in the crunchy coating of the meat.
We felt like the value delivered was terrific - especially in an area that can be pricey. The only downside of Cotoletta is that sometimes you're not in the mood for cotoletta - but, if you are and you're in South Beach, get in here! read more
