Overall a good experience! My fiance treated me to a Restorative-Massage after she found a special on Groupon. For $79, it includes: *A 55-minute full-body restorative massage (a $90 value) *Hot-stone integration (a $25 value) *Hot healing-pack placement (a $10 value) *Cold jade-stone face massage (a $40 value) A $165 value! It sounded great. However, the overall experience was approximately 55 min. I thought with all the treatment, it would've been at least 1 1/2 long. This is the misconception. So based on the amount we paid, it is a reasonable price but not of a great value. I would not have been happy paying full price. On the bright side, we had a great experience! Staffs were friendly. The ambience was tranquil. And the person that did my massage (sorry, forgot your name again) worked magic on my back. It was a great experience overall!! Thank you! read more

Wanted to do something thoughtful for my boyfriend, who had been having a rough couple of days. Found a great deal for a massage on Goldstar, that I thought would be the perfect solution. Of course, my greedy little self ended up wanting a massage as well and Goldstar, luckily, also had a deal for a couples massage hah! I called in Friday afternoon and secured a 5pm appointment for Sunday. We arrived about 10 minutes early, and were promptly greeted, seated, and offered some water (cucumber infused maybe?). The cottage that the spa is in is super cute and cozy. We filled out some short paperwork, and were then ushered into the couples room without delay. From Goldstar's site, I wasn't really able to tell what kind of massage we would be receiving, just that we would be together in the same room. After one of our therapists explained what would be going on and then cross referencing (lol) their services menu, it looks like we were given the Majestic Escape. All I can say is that was AMAZING. It was a combination of Swedish and deep tissue, and they also utilized hot stones (which felt so good I thought I'd die), heated bags of rice, and cold stone facial accupressure to finish it off. Everything felt and smelled soooo nice! Our therapists were great. I had a new guy, Chris, who did a wonderful job. I told him areas to focus on, and I left feeling like he made a difference. My boyfriend's therapist was a girl, unfortunately I can't remember her name, but he said she did a fantastic job and she was super nice. Super glad we ended up finding this spot. Oh. And did I mention that there is tons of free street parking? Yep. read more

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for a few years now for wonderful massages. We average a massage every 6 months or so. There are always great deals on goldstar. We love supporting this place. I just wish they had a sauna since you leave the massage kind of slippery. Haha UPDATE: It's still awesome! Darrin has helped my fiancé's shoulder recoup after his motorcycle crash. Darrin & his wife are so welcoming and hospitable every time we go! :) read more

Highly recommend this place! I got the restorative massage which is a combo of Swedish and deep tissue with Darrin. He was very warm and welcoming as soon as I stepped in. Offered me tea and water. At times the massage was incredibly relaxing and at other times, a little painful but in a good way! He really gave me some much needed muscle therapy and detox. I feel incredible now. I will definitely go back again! read more

Per a reviewer's recommendation, I requested an energy reading. I'm a scientist, so I chalk much of this stuff up to pseudo science at best. But, I have to admit, that the massage therapist said some things that were accurate. It could have been simply a chance occurence, but added an interesting layer to the massage experience. As for the massage itself, it was wonderful. I had the rejuvinating massage purchased at a discount through Goldstar. My massage therapist Toni really worked some massage magic. Like one of the reviewers wrote, the rooms are not sound proof. But that was not much of a distraction and this still ended up being one of the best massage experiences I've ever had. read more

Had a excellent massage by Megan. Came in with a horrible emotional/stress headache and neck pain. Megan gave a fantastic full body massage and worked my upper back and neck into a calming state. She knows her stuff read more

Wow, one of the best massage places EVAR! =) I made the "flexible" reservation for 5 girls but only 3 of us could go. Not a problem! They called me back to reconfirm my reservations before getting my credit card. Since I mentioned this was for a bachelorette party, they suggested that we all be in one room which turned out wonderfully. I love how they were proactive about suggestions! Before we went in for our 55 minute ($100) restorative massages, one of the masseuses gave us a quick breakdown of what to expect (it was the first time for my friends). We got complimentary water and were delighted that they helped us take pictures for us! Yep - proactive! =) Gotta love it! The room itself was huge and not TOO dim so that I couldn't see anything. I loved the space - very very relaxing and the music was great...I started to doze a bit. =) The massage itself was superb, I was pleseantly surprised how much I got worked on my "problem areas" and that the massage itself was not super intense (you know the ones that make you scream, "omg, please stop!" --- which I've done before). They even stuck around to hang with us and take pictures =). My friends loved it and said they'd come back! The bachelorette herself, suggested we come more often! =) Very friendly people, I would highly recommend. They also have yoga classes and salon type services (facials, medi/pedi etc). =) read more

I gave my daughter a massage gift for today and wanted to share her review since you made a huge difference in her life today This is her review of the spa: I was welcomed by lovely ladies who put me at ease and offered delicious tea to drink while I waited patiently as they got my massage room ready for me. I was asked to choose which aromatherapy interested me most for the massage treatment and was able to preview the wonderful smell of the essential oils. I was then invited into the ready massage room by Carolyn Jaques who informed me on what the treatment entailed. She knew right away when she saw me that I had digestive problems and trust issues which surprised me because I do not share my emotions with anyone. Throughout my massage treatment I was always in a state of relaxation and tranquility as Carolyn awoke in me sluggish energy I did not know I was carrying. I could actually feel butterfly-like energy fly about within me as she massaged my feet while she explained reflexology to me. This experience for me has been life-changing and incredibly beneficial not just for me but also for those around me. I can go on and on about how experienced, talented, supportive, caring, knowledgeable and extremely professional Carolyn and her helpers are. I am sure there are many other massage therapists in the Los Angeles area who just as talented and qualified, but I will always go to Cote d'Azur for an energy massage by Carolyn because she understood how I was feeling inside and has really impacted my life profoundly. I call her an Angel because she has truly healed my body, soul and mind. read more

Just came from a massage and a facial today. I've never had a massage quite like this before! I'm in la-la land right now after getting the Rejeuvenating Massage there. My therapist, Carolyn, who is also owner, first took a read of my energy which I could actually feel. It was a trip. She then put together a massage that worked out so many of the tight spots in my back and hips. I loved the heat from the hot stones. I can't sing the praises of Carolyn enough. She's such a warm and gentle soul and really aims to help heal your body when you are being treated. She gets 5 stars. (I took off a star because the sound-proofing of the rooms aren't great but I was able to tune it out.) This was also my first experience with accupuncture from the promotional Biovisage facial that I got. Not sure how effective that was yet. I'll have to wait and see on that I guess. *Sigh* I'm enjoying this until it's time for my next massage, which after this, hopefully won't be too long from now. * If you're a member of Goldstarevents, you can get treatments here for a great deal! read more

Let me start that I think the spa's prices are worth every penny. Full price. And yes, my budget is limited but stripping down to my chonies and allowing someone to put hands on my aches and pains is not the time when I want to skimp on the skill level, or atmosphere. Forgive me if this sounds snobby but in massage you often get what you pay for and I have no desire to spend $50 to go to a massage barn (*cough* massage envy *cough*) to get a mediocre therapist and then be pressured into a subscription after. Or a threadbare location with an underpaid tired therapist who has seen better days, and can hardly muster the energy to really focus on you. They regularly offer GREAT specials on massage for couples and single treatments on Goldstar and if you get a 55 minute massage for under $80 in Pasadena with hot and cold stones, and aromatherapy and complain at the cost and length I suggest you try your hand at other places and see what you get for $80, or how much a basic 1 1/2 hour massage will cost you. Cote D'Azur is in a beautiful location that is tranquil, the people that work there are truly patient, kind, and amazing, and do good work. I've gone several times, and had both Kat and Seneca and both are fantastic practitioners. My relatives have seen other practitioners and they are also kind, and very good at what they do. The business is family owned, and they are truly good people who love what they do. And I'd much rather support a local business with good craftsmen than a shady little dive or a big business. Normally I'm a big fan of the indigo massage. I come in cranky and sore and leave smiling. My most recent massage was with Kat and I got the pregnancy massage. The pressure was perfect, the oil blend smelled so good I vowed I'd have to return to get a sample to keep at home, and it was truly an hour of bliss. I will be back in another month or so when I'm bigger and more uncomfortable and I know Kat will take care of me. I have no desire to seek out another place to get a massage not in Pasadena or the rest of the LA metro, and I know I'm paying a good price for good service without the pretensions of other high end places, or the mediocre quality of more "budget" places. read more

I've gone here 2 or 3 times and every time I had an enjoyable experience. I like their new location a bit better than the one they had in Old Town. Beware that parking can sometimes be an issue though. Get there a little early. Although it's a bit pricey, they offer a mailing list and coupons with great offers. I usually get the couples hot stone massage when I go and it is very enjoyable. I leave feeling looser and more flexible as well as energized (something I ALWAYS need lol). I've had 3 different massage therapists and they were all great. I think the people who complain about the temperature forget that layers of lotion and oil will leave you a tad chilly on those spots. I don't mind because their hands are warm. They hit very nice points in my hip and leg area that leave me feeling "reset" They will ask you if you would special attention paid to any particular spot. All in all, highly recommend. read more

Cote D'Azur is one of my all time favorite places to be in Pasadena. There whole person approach to massage and body work treatments is exceptional. If you looking for an excellent, personal spa experience, Cote D'Azur is the place to go in Pasadena. From the moment you walk in the door, the smell & the music set the tone. The interior design transports you out of Pasadena into another world immediately. Cote D'Azur is a family and friends owned business. I came here once when I lived in the area. This time I brought my gf here for her birthday. We had a couple massage called the "Majestic Escape". SO R~E~L~A~X~I~N~G!!! Cote D'Azur is the place to go to if you need to relax those tight muscles of yours. I had my neck and the thoracic part of my back here fixed. SERVICE: AWESOME!!! The staff are also knowledgeable about the area too. Since we were early, they suggested we check out Old Pasadena for a little bit. I'm glad they told us to stay hydrated when we were leaving because we were downing water like no tomorrow. It was also a scorching hot day too! Cote D'Azur, UNTIL NEXT TIME! read more

Quick shoutout to Meg who truly fixed me Sunday night at this cute little hideaway in Pasadena. We love this place and want to make it a goal to go at least once a month. Hubby had never gotten a massage and now he compares any massage place to this place. Customer service is great and the masseuse is always making sure you're ok and take your input every step of the way. Looove this place!!! read more

It's taken me a while to write this review but my experience here was not good. The first time the masseuse talked the entire time. The second time I went I felt that the masseuse was inappropriate. I called to complain and after explaining to the manager what happened, he asked me if I told the masseuse to stop what he was doing. I had to explain to the manager that I felt very uncomfortable saying anything at the time because I was in a very vulnerable situation (no clothes alone in a room with a man). So overall my experience here left a bad taste in my mouth. Carolyn, can you please send me a private message. I can't figure out how yo respond to you. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Cote D'Azur for a couples massage, and while the facility was very clean, and the massage was very relaxing, it was a little off putting when the masseuse wanted to read our aura beforehand, and continued to talk about how the color of my aura represented the level of stress in my life (she was pretty off about how stressed I was). Luckily I had found a deal online and we didn't have to break the bank to figure out what color our auras were. read more

I can't say enough about this hidden gem of a place! I have had massages in so many different places by various massage therapists but-NEVER- have I ever- had so much relief after just 1 visit!! I had low back fusion 8 years ago and have suffered with sciatica in the worst way. The *wake you up in the middle of the night- in tears* kind of worst way and after visiting Darren just one time, I went an entire month without pain. Thats's never happened. He listened to my history and what I have tried to get relief and then, went to work. He was able to locate and carefully massage knots I didn't even know I had. He explains why something has been strained and makes suggestions of ways I can change things so it will be less painful. He knows his stuff!! I won't go to anyone else- ever again! The studio itself is nice and cool, very welcoming, very clean and offers many different wellness services. I hope to try some others but for now, Darren and his massage therapy have become a monthly visit/escape that I look forward to. I book my next appointment before leaving so I don't let life get in the way and I can't wait for the next visit to get the relief I need. We all need to take that *me* time. Find your balance, and if you can- let Cote d'Azur be the place you do it!! read more

I recieved a surprise gift from a lovely friend this past weekend! The gift of a wonderful massage~ Upon walking in I instantly felt like I was breathing the air of heaven, I don't know what type of incense or candles they use, but it is amazing. My massage was Amazing, probably the best massage I have ever had. I have done the Burke Williams, La Costa Day Spa, La Quinta Inn and many Las Vegas Hotel Spa massages, but the quality of the massage is on a higher level and truely a healing/ heavenly experience. If you are looking for an excellent massage with healing hands and energy, this is the place for you! I look forward to another visit! read more

Discovered this place thanks to a friend in December 2012. You've just got to love the spiritual atmosphere of a historic Pasadena home turned spa. As soon as you walk through the door, it smells divine. I've experienced both massage and energy work, and they together they have cleared up my energy and the stress in my body. Generally, I don't like strangers to touch me and I turn down gifts of massages, because most spas employ overworked girls who spend hours massaging but not cleansing the residual energy from themselves. As an empath, I don't want to experience a residue of the masseuse's clients' energies. However, here it was not the case, as Carolyn is very conscious to make sure things are balanced both physically and spiritually. If I weren't a single mom on a budget, I'd splurge much more often, as visit to a Cote d'Azur is truly a delightful way to restore your soul. read more

A gem in Pasadena! I had the most amazing experience today with Carolyn. I took my mother in for an indigo massage and I must say I had one of the best experiences. They were friendly and very attentive to my moms and my needs. She was very genuine and honest about the fact that it wasn't a Burke Williams type of place. Not to say that those places are bad but if you are looking for spiritual expansion and life balance, this is the place to go. Although my mom only speaks Spanish, Carolyn decreased that barrier with her caring and gentle ways. She was culturally sensitive and made sure to check in with my mother in order to ensure that she was comfortable. Darryn was my masseuse and he was phenomenal. They both made sure to explain things in relation to the aromatherapy and share their expertise with me. I will defiantly be going back and referring friends:). read more

I feel in love the moment I parked. I was sold on the reserved parking.. Kidding, I was nicely greeted by owner, Darrin. He was my therapist as I was referred to him. From start to finish Darrin gave me legendary service. He truly has hands of gold. And performed the Restorative Massage. I was in the clouds! He & his wife own a beautiful spa and if you're looking for a peaceful escape in Pasadena, Côte De Azur is the place to be. I will be returning soon. It's not everyday that you run into such caring people who are so passionate and insightful. Dare you to go! You are in for a treat. read more

Buying a Groupon doesn't always mean it's a great deal until you use it. I went this past weekend for a 75 minute hot stone full body massage / cold stone facial per my Groupon. Appointment was set up a month in advance. The massage therapist I had was great. She worked on all the areas that needed to be worked on to relieve all the knots. Once done tried redeeming my Groupon and for some reason it was in a pending status for a whole month. Unfortunately I was not able to use the Groupon!! The owner Darrin never encountered a situation like that before. He was great and understanding. He was able to honor the price Groupon had it listed for. Now I have to call Groupon to figure out the issue. I have to say it was a nice experience!! Highly recommend. read more

Cote D'Azur spa is the best place I have been for massages. The owner Carolyn is an expert at energy work, I would request her if you go for a massage. Instead of feeling so relaxed you want to go to sleep after the massage, you feel so energized you feel you could run a marathon! But at the same time also very relaxed. The peaceful setting in the new location on Bellevue lends itself to the feeling of "getting away from it all." I also have had acupuncture sessions there, which have been extremely helpful for my overall health. I highly recommend Cote D'Azur spa to anyone looking for a massage, facial, acupuncture, and overall wellness. I have been a client for 7 years. It is a professional place and great service in every way. read more

I should have read the reviews a little more carefully before coming in. I had a Majestic Escape Groupon and called for a Saturday afternoon appointment. After they confirmed, I got another call a couple of days before my appointment asking if I could come in at 6PM on Saturday instead. On their website, it is noted that after 6pm, it might be slightly noisy due to the pub downstairs. I know noise doesn't bother me so in an attempt to be nice, I agreed. I arrived 10 min before and was sitting by myself until 5:59 when my therapist came out. I believe her name was Samantha (?? I could be wrong..). She was really sweet and nice, telling me that she just needs to prep the room for me as she finished another client. The atmosphere was quiet and the spa is super cute and cozy. I had a good feeling while sipping on my tea about the place even though they were running late. I didn't have anywhere I had to be for a few hours. Once my room was ready, I told my therapist that I liked a lot of pressure in my shoulders and neck area. Boy, I am glad I did..I felt like otherwise I would have been REALLY disappointed. The whole experience was really just...bleh. The hot stones and rice bags sometimes felt unevenly heated. I tried to move a bit (maybe the placement? No..maybe my body is more sensitive on one side? Perhaps) but it didn't seem to work. Sadly I failed to escape majestically into my treatment. The noises around didn't bother me as much as the massage therapists going off 10 seconds at a time to..get the stones? I don't know what she was doing but could they put it maybe closer to the table? I reminisced about the great massages I had in Cancun...then thought about the delicious message I had at Raven Spa. Oh wait, am I getting a massage right now? Epic fail. The worst massage is the kind that you felt like you didn't get one at all. Even though she mentioned the massage was running 15 minutes late, I got out 60 min later right on the dot even though it was supposed to be a 70 min package. I scramble my wallet to find exactly 10% of the full value to tip..and usually I empty my wallet after an excellent massage. At the front desk I see a guy counting all the receipts from the day and barely got a nod as an acknowledgment as I gave my voucher. Was that the owner? Well, that was really welcoming...off I went, no more relaxed than I already was when I stepped through the door. read more

I had a horrible experience at this spa. I made an appointment on valentine's day weekend, and the receptionist marked me for the wrong day. I told her how frustrated and disappointed I was (my boyfriend and I had been planning the weekend for a while), to which she replied, 'it's frustrating for all of us.' A very poor customer service response and horrible attitude. She then proceeded to call the owner, who informed me that she was 'at the Grammys' (why would I care if she was at the Grammys?), and that it was 'obvious they could not make me happy', and that she wished me a 'beautiful day'. Mind you, all of this was in a mocking tone. Overall, I had a horrible experience at this spa, I would not recommend it. It is understaffed and the employee/owner I did encounter were extremely unprofessional. read more

Boyfriend took me here for the Majestic Escape for my birthday and to 'make it up' to me. From the moment we called they were friendly and accommodating. They were able to schedule us for the same day appointment in the same room so we would be together. Thank goodness I had a GPS or I would have never found this place. We showed up almost an hour early for our appointment and asked if they had an earlier opening. They didn't, but it was no problem. Katherine was there to greet us (as little to my knowledge later would be the one to give me the massage). She gave us simple instructions to get to and explore 'Old Pasadena' (forgive me if I'm wrong, not from around here. :P) When we arrived for our massage 40 minutes later, I was so ready to just relax and enjoy it. Everything was amazing. Katherine was lovely and so friendly and accommodating if I felt the rocks were too hot for me. The amount of pressure she applied was just right. It did hurt at some points, but of course this was due to the muscle tension i felt after a long day of kayaking the day before. After the massage they gave us tips to stay hydrated and loose. Definitely come here for a quality massage. And boys, bring your girlfriend here if you fuck up. It'll definitely get her to relax and release any hostility she may feel after your major fuck up. =) read more

Took my mom here for her first official professional massage ever. She loved it! She was so relaxed that she even fell asleep towards the end and started snoring, which was pretty funny. We got the couple's room, so we were able to get our massages together. I had been here about 2 years earlier, and had a pleasant time then. But this time, my massage was absolutely stellar- top of the line. Hands down, best I've ever gotten. Ask for David if you want the best massage of your life! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I've been to a handful of larger spas for massages and can honestly say I've gotten the best massages I've ever had at Cote d'Azur. My boyfriend discovered Cote d'Azur on Yelp and encouraged me to make an appointment as a late birthday present. I'm SO glad I did. So much so I've already been back another time. Darrin has hands down (no pun intended) given me the best massages I've ever had. There was another reviewer who mentioned that the massage was incredibly relaxing at some points and other times a bit painful, but in the best way possible, and she was totally right. I do a lot of yoga and there are some places in my neck, shoulders and hips that even that won't help. If that sounds like something you're dealing with, go to Darrin! It's like he has sense of where you're feeling pressure in your body and knows exactly where to go. I had knots worked out of places I didn't even think you could get knots, like below and around your hips. Amazing amazing amazing, is all I can say. I'll be a customer for life. read more

I've gone to Cote d'Azur since it was in Old Town above the noisy bar and used to get deals on Goldstar (I don't think they do that anymore). Yesterday was my third (4th?) visit to their new location on Bellevue and Darrin was so absolutely fantastic I knew I would have to write a review. My back had been bugging me and early last week I received their email advertising a 4th of July deal and bought it immediately. Seriously, in the lunch room at work "hold on a sec, I have to get my credit card...I just bought a massage". I emailed to schedule immediately and had no difficulty getting in on Saturday. I was seen in the front couples room, the same room I had been in on my previous visits. Last time that room was noisy because the neighbors were doing lawn care but this week it was perfectly quiet. Darrin's massage work is incredible. Probably the best massage I've ever had. He worked those hot stones like a champ which never left me feeling like "ahh, someone is balancing hot stones on me!". He has great energy and was very responsive to me talking or being super quiet. Today I feel like I had a fantastic therapeutic massage-- a little sore but so awesome. Ok, maybe I just wrote this review so that I would remember to ask for Darrin next time. :) read more

Made a 60 minute appointment for light Swedish massage with hot stones for my boyfriend as a gift. Afterwards he said it was the best massage he ever got - truly therapeutic not just fancy frou frou massaging or worse, ineffective palpating. He had some specific areas he was complaining about on his body and they took care of it and he felt much better afterwards. This place was recommended to me and they were not mistaken - a high quality massage experience , holistic, and professional. Setting is also boutique and tranquil. Way better than more expensive large spas who have nice lobbies and lounge areas but may not necessarily give exceptional therapies. read more

I was having a low day and decided that I needed a massage. Found out about Cote D'Azur from Goldstar and then read the reviews on Yelp. They could only fit me in for a 5 pm appointment on Saturday and I wanted a massage bad enough to agree. I got there 15 minutes earlier and liked what I saw, the high ceilings and the skylights. The place was very nice. One of the ladies offered me a glass of water that had both a cucumber and lemon flavor...."nice" I thought. Think I finally met my massage therapist at 5 when she told me to go into this big room with a single massage bed. I lay face down waiting for her to start. She told me that she was going to do some "energy" work on me in our session. I was not sure what to expect but let her proceed. I am used to hard massages, having had some really intense ones at the chinese reflexology places, but was prepared to have a more relaxing one here. However, the massage I was given was very mild, it felt more like hands gliding over my body. I did not feel any effort to release some of the knots I had in my neck area. The therapist stopped now and then to refresh the hot stones that she used on my hands and also placed some big Hot stones on a few other areas (they actually left very red marks on my body for quite a while after the massage session). I also felt some blowing over my body. Think this must be part of the "energy" work that she mentioned earlier. When she finally ended the session, I was disappointed to see that the time was 5 mins before 6pm. The massage session was supposed to last between 60 to 75 mins and I didn't get the full length of time I was expecting. In fact, if you considered the moments when she stopped in between while performing the energy work, it was definitely less than 50 mins of actual massage. I'll have to remember never to ask for the last appointment of the day, especially on a Saturday evening. The session was supposed to cost $130, but I got a $50 discount because of the promotion on Yelp. The experience was definitely not worth $130. Don't think I'll be back again. read more

Had an awesome Swedish Deep Tissue massage here (as part of Majestic Escape groupon) yesterday with my friend. I usually complain that even the deep tissues I get aren't deep enough, but Darrin's expert hands worked my stubborn shoulder knots to pulp! And I loved the hot compresses and cool stone facial! The location is perfect as well - cute house surrounded by lots of plants for that spa feeling. Try it out! read more

This place is by far my favorite place to get a massage! Whenever my muscles are too tight from exercising, I come here and leave feeling like brand new. Absolutely love it here, I will always choose Cote d'Azur first whenever I need a massage. :) read more

One of the best massages of my life! My husband purchased a massage for me here with Darren, the owner. The space is gorgeous, down to earth, peaceful, relaxing. It's more like someone's lovely, earthy house than a spa. I always pick up on the energy of a space, and this place is calm, centered and safe. The massage room and table was warm and comforting, and I had plenty of time to strip and get comfy. Then Darren went to work. WHOA. I had a combo of deep tissue and Swedish, and he got into spots that I didn't even know I had. This was not a relaxing massage - it was excruciating at times, and truly felt like a treatment! I was a little light headed afterward, and had a bit of an upset tummy - all good signs of major detoxing! This is a place to go for a true massage, in the deepest and most therapeutic sense of the word. I'll be back as soon as I can! read more
