I told her I would tip after the service instead. Right away, the experience went downhill. She told me to lay on my stomach and spent the first 15 minutes just lightly rubbing my back with almost no pressure at all. When I asked her to go harder, she suddenly became too rough and actually hurt me. I got so uncomfortable that I let out a huge sigh. I checked the clock and realized she had only been rubbing my back the entire time. Then she suddenly said another lady would take over. The second lady did better, but she also focused only on my back. My chest was starting to hurt from laying in the same position for so long, so I asked if they were going to massage my head, legs, and arms too since I paid for a FULL BODY massage M. I don't think she understood me because she only massaged my feet for a few minutes and then said, "That's it. Done." The timing was also misleading. They started touching me around 9:05 PM and finished at 9:55 PM !! not even a full hour. I was so frustrated that I just walked out. Then the first lady literally ran after me asking for a tip. I didn't even turn around. Absolutely the worst 55 minutes of my massage experience. I wish I could give a 0 star!

I shouldn't have ignored them ‍ 1. They require payment before the service. I understand that some spas actually have this as SOP so that's fine. But when the lady asked for a tip as well, I had to say no. I prefer tipping based on service rendered. 2. They have a promotion for $59 for 70 mins. See attached photo. The front desk lady charged $60 without asking first. 3. I called and got the confirmation that they are able to accommodate me at 1PM. I arrived at 12:55PM. The masseuse didn't enter the room until almost 1:30PM. And even then, still had to walk in and out of the room for some reason. 4. The promo included hot stone and back scrub. She did the massage first, then scrub, then hot stone without wiping off the scrub. I've had this procedure a lot of times before, and this sequence is odd. 5. At one point, the warm towel she used to wipe the body scrub off was very hot. She also didn't wipe everything off completely. Then she asked me to lie on my back for the rest of the massage. 6. I asked for hard pressure on my back from the start of the massage. She literally spent approximately 10 mins on my left waist. I had to tell her what to do. I was already up even before she told me it was done. Definitely a bad experience and waste of money. Didn't feel relaxed, at all.

You should know that when you pay $50 for a 60-minute full-body massage; expecting the Ritz is dumb, and on you. There was briefly a guy at the front desk who was pretty bad (kind of ignored you and was rude) but I haven't seen him in a long time. Otherwise yes; the rooms are fine, the music is the same every time, the sheets are just normal sheets. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's all really solid. The comments about tipping are weird; when you're paying so little for the massage itself, it's pretty easy math to understand why $20 is the least you can do, assuming you enjoyed your service. If you can't afford $70 total for a massage, you probably shouldn't be out getting one. Even the massage place charges $66 for 60 minutes as their base price, and the environment is comparable (massages are universally worse). And to be clear, no one has ever 'followed us around for a tip'; our masseuses do tend to walk to the front with us to offer us water and thank us for coming. It's really nice. My husband and I visit all the time and we tend to leave $30 for each of our masseuses because they're awesome. For context, we used to go to Raven Spa in Silverlake for our massages. It cost us $100 each NOT including tip to get a far inferior massage to the one we get at SP. We were paying for ambiance and brand, and we were actually pretty satisfied with their pricing for the area (even though we weren't really in love with the massages); until the first time we tried SP. Now, we pay ~$80 each TOTAL for the. best. massages. of our lives. Every time we walk out we feel 1000x better. Every masseuse we've had has been super receptive to pressure feedback, amazing at finding and working out knots, and really, really nice. I honestly feel the need to defend this place because it would be such a pity for it to not exist; I don't know how we'd ever get similar level massages at this price point anywhere else.
