I don't write reviews often, but I had to for Janelle at Sugar Shack because she completely changed my experience with sugaring. For context, I've been to at least five different sugaring/waxing specialists across Los Angeles over the years, and I had honestly accepted that the experience would always be a little awkward and uncomfortable, just something you tolerate. And then I found Janelle. From the very first appointment, she stood out in every possible way. She is incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely cares about making you feel comfortable. She goes out of her way to create a welcoming, relaxed environment, which makes such a difference for a service like this. What really sets her apart are the thoughtful touches that show how much she cares about her clients. After my first visit, she gifted me lavender salts and oil to help with ingrowns, completely unprompted. Now that I'm moving away from Los Angeles, she even gave me a small going-away gift. It's rare to find someone who puts that level of care and intention into their work. She's also incredibly reliable (which, if you've ever struggled with inconsistent appointments elsewhere, you know is huge). Not only is she dependable, but she's proactive, she would even keep an eye out for cancellations and reach out if an earlier morning slot (my preference) opened up. That level of thoughtfulness is unmatched. And on a practical note: parking is easy, with a Vons lot within walking distance - no LA parking stress. I genuinely wish I wasn't moving because finding Janelle felt like finding a hidden gem. I'm so grateful I got to be her client, even if just for a few months.
