I enjoy the cold plunge--it is located in a private suite with a sauna inside the room. The compression therapy is great. They also offer red light therapy, float tank, massage and stretch. They offer many services catered to those seeking sport rehab and recovery. Nonetheless, all are welcomed. The cafe has pre-prepared juices. I have tried a few including green light and beet it. Beet it is my favorite, perhaps because it has ginger, it gives it a nice twist. They have limited fridge food options and I am happy to report they do include some vegan. I stumbled upon Renew as I was trying to sign up for Anytime fitness and I met the lovely owner Gabby who made my husband and I feel like home instantly. I decided to come in for a fire + Ice session and have since came back multiple times. The ice baths and saunas in the space are so well kept and very clean. Gabby, and her team Joy & Mathew are always so kind to us and friendly. I noticed how kind they are to customers that come in and lots of them being Altadena residents. They found a safe space and so have I. I now come as a member, I come to say hello and I come for the fantastic smoothies. Let's talk about the smoothies. Did you know that Erewhon uses ice? Ummm, why am I paying 23$ for a smoothie with ice. Renew uses all fruit and no ice. The "Just Nutty" is my absolute fav. I request no Nutella, add naked almond and have them use almond milk in the smoothie. It's always thick and has the best ingredients. Did I say they use the best protein in all of the smoothies? It's an organic protein actually and I really like it. Overall, this place has been my place for after a workout, a quick smoothie, my moment of escape from reality and a place I feel genuinely welcomed. If you aren't into ice baths, come for a smoothie. Their facilities are REALLY great and they are always adding new services to help you become your best self. This place is absolutely amazing! It has EVERYTHING you need for recovery and wellness. The services offered are all amazing, you can't go wrong with any of them. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I really enjoyed the lymphatic drainage. You lay on heated table while compression sleeves squeeze you with just the right amount of pressure. It's actually very relaxing- I dozed off and took a nap! The coffee and smoothie bar are a favorite of mine as well. I had a wonderful, peaceful time, and the float assisted with some health complications I've been dealing with. The staff were super informative, kind, and attentive. I want to begin by saying that Santiago is the employee who helped me. He was so passionate, helpful and accommodating, that I thought he was the manager. Turns out he's just one of the employees. They're really lucky to have him. His colleague, I think Ashley was her name (?) was also really awesome! I love the look and feel of this place. It has a lot of potential - I say this because it has new owners. They've adopted old equipment from previous owners that don't work very well. I did the fire and ice and barely broke a sweat in the sauna, which made me not want to get into the ice tub. The good news is, they said they're getting new saunas soon. Might be a good idea to check with them first before booking in for the fire and ice. They will also soon be offering FloPresso lymphatic compression therapy, which is exciting! I would also really love to see them offer vitamin IVs and a dedicated place for an Ampcoil PEMF device (or two). I'm a functional health coach and work with AmpCoil. Renew is the perfect place for it. Lastly, their prices are a bit steep, even for LA- $60 for a half hour and $180 for compression therapy. $60 for an hour makes much more sense for fire and ice and $150 for compression. These things would make Renew a perfect one stop bio-hacking shop and I would be there all the time. read more

I absolutely love everything about this place! I come for the Fire & Ice Treatment before and after a full weekend of rigorous physical training. So yesterday I came in super sore and in much need of recovery. I was greeted warmly by Joy & Moises. I'm always incredibly nervous before getting in the ice bath but the process that I was guided through was calm and soothing. I never felt rushed and was able to take my time and use the restroom prior to the Fire & Ice session. Moises guided me from start to finish. First helping me calm my mind and nervous system through controlled breathing until I was ready to apply the same techniques in getting in the water. Before I knew it, 5 minutes had passed and I was willing to go for another 5 minutes with continued breath coaching. Thank you, Moises, for your calming voice and helping me reach a personal goal of 10 minutes! The sauna after was a delightful and rewarding treat. And if that was not enough, I was able to stay a while and productively work on my computer while enjoying the yummiest peanut butter banana smoothie in the comfiest work space w/ WiFi! Space BAR is an incredible new wellness center in Pasadena. They had a special 7 day challenge, where for $99 you could try unlimited classes, and 1 of each of their recovery treatments. Prior to your first session, you have a meeting/orientation where you go over your goals and receive a very helpful guided journal, where you can catalog your wellness journey. Here's all of the amazing things I tried during my week: Group Classes: Small group recovery - 30 minutes or breathwork was super intense and at one point I felt like a dragon. You work to change the biochemistry of your system since you work on long inhales, and then waiting to exhale. Very intense, it's nice that when you become a member you get unlimited breath work classes. The ice bath was so intense, but I'm glad I did it for as long as I could. The sauna felt great after. Active Repair - an amazing class, who knew that a lacrosse ball and a foam roller could so thoroughly stretch out your whole body. My favorite but most painful spot was the front chest, which had never been stretched before. Mindful Movement - a yoga class built around your own needs. I have super tight hips so we spent the hour loosening them up. The class can be as active or restorative as you need. Treatments: Individual Sauna - love that you can either listen to the radio or to Bluetooth. Make sure to turn Bluetooth on, and leave your phone outside of the sauna if you do the 40 minute session. Float tank - float in epsom salt, they have cool lights that you can change the color or be in total darkness. Great way to relax. Joovv Red Light - only tried once and you need two to three times a week to see differences, but it's really easy to use. You either sit or stand behind a black curtain for 20 minutes and check your phone. Normatec Compression Boots - they have for your legs or hips. I did the hips and if you've ever received a lymphatic massage, where they squeeze you, this is the same. If you're an athlete, come use this place to recharge and avoid injury. If you're into wellness, use this place as a headquarters where you can do my goal with wellness: having wellness be as necessary as showering for your every day life. read more

Infrared sauna review: Located inside the superfood cafe, this unassuming place is actually a nice spot to get your sauna fix. I went with 2 other friends and it was nice to get your own room when you go with a small group (max 6). I've never tried an infrared sauna but I really liked how tolerable the heat level was even for staying a full 30mins inside. You get a good sweat out of the sauna without being terribly uncomfortable. The one downside is that there isn't really a space to leave your stuff but we did have the room to ourselves so was able to put it on a chair. It would've been nice to have lockers to ensure things don't get wet, etc. There was only 2 showers (one in the same room as the group sauna option and another private shower room), but they do offer shampoo, conditioner and soap if you need, as well as clean towels. For $25 per session, it's a reasonable deal. Parking is street otherwise you can pay for the playhouse lot parking at $1.50/hour. read more

This place has come a long way... I would occasionally come here when it was under the prior owner and although it was good; I would always walk away wishing it was better (good people, just not the most organized and nothing really worked as expected). I'm grateful for the new owner... much more organized, takes feedback, has a heart for healing and with each trip I can see even more investment into the facility. And finally, it's slightly easier to pay and book an appointment. The only thing that keeps me from buying a membership is the saunas... they're just too cold. I understand the science with the red light therapy, but I want to the intense heat for the heat shock proteins and for the added benefits of the sweat. The sauna I recently couldn't seem to get higher than 135. I'm confident there will eventually be a hotter sauna option. read more

What a unique spot! With a prime location right on Colorado Blvd, it's a convenient little cafe/ wellness center with anything you could need to fulfill your wellness goals. I just did the lymphatic drainage compression therapy and it exceeded my expectations. The treatment itself was like a full body normatec compression suit with heat and red light to aid lymphatic drainage. It was peaceful and just what I needed, but the best part of the experience was Gabby (the owner)! She was beyond attentive and made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. She even took me on a tour of the facilities because I had so many questions about the other services like the cold plunge and infrared sauna. If you're in a hurry and craving a smoothie, I would suggest the motivator or the nutty smoothie. Both were insanely tasty. I would go back in a heartbeat! read more

I've been seeing Jovi for body work and she is the best. It can be difficult to find good deep tissue massage and body work. I had a pretty bad strain in the sub scapular and rhomboid area that she was able to help correct. She is very good at diagnosing a problem and will research into treatments between sessions. Experienced my first true ice bath at Hot8 Yoga Pasadena with Space BAR's amazing staff. I literally needed their guidance for taking the requisite, super deep breaths as the body's natural response is to go into extreme, shallow breathing. I soaked up to my neck the first time but only lasted a minute 15sec. I went into their sauna tent and then did the ice bath again but this time for the full three minutes. The pain in the extremities kicks in at about a minute. From that point on, you start to feel like your body is shutting down and it's everything you can do to just focus on your breaths. The dopamine rush afterwards is incredible. The closest thing I've experienced to it is skydiving. Gonna go again this week but this time at Space BAR. Thank you!
