I have been a Costco member since the day they opened their doors back in the late 80's. I buy tires at Costco because of their 'reliability' and savings. Atfer this last experience, I will never buy another tire from them as long as I live.
On July 15th I went into this Costco store, stood in ever present long line waiting my turn to speak to someone. Unfortunately I do not know the person's name, but spoke to a fellow about my passenger tire that had a 'bubble' on it. I am not a tire expert, and do not know what to look for. However, I do know, I hit a curb and the bubble was a result.
I asked this individual if they could please check the tire and make sure I was safe to take myself and my kids to Walla Walla for an extended birthday weekend.
After waiting an hour, I was called back an ASSURED my tire was safe for the 5 hour trek each way.
Upon my return home to Seattle, I went to my dealership to have my oil changed. They promptly alerted me that my tire had a bubble on it and it was extremely dangerous for me to drive.
Guess my reaction.
I went BACK to Costco....stood in that annoying, slow line, and told my story. I may as well have been speaking to the tires themselves, that's how much ownership they exhibited. Frustrated by the lack of interest, I purchased a new tire and was told it was going to take 7 days. That was August 1. Great....I have another week of driving on a unsafe bubble.
On August 7, I make a call to ask if the tire had arrived. No- call back on Monday there are no deliveries on the weekend.
I call back every day after that, to no avail. On August 11th, ELEVEN DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF A NEW TIRE, I call. No tire. I call back. August 12th. Yes! BINGO! Guess what? Your tire has been here since the 10th, the voice reports. Really? Nice! I've been calling every day and now you're telling me the tire has been there for the last 2 days.
Glad you're on top of your game.
I went in that very day, spoke to the manager and told him my story.
Taylor, the manager, was no more capable of apologizing for the conundrum of misinformation and poor service then the rest of his incapable staff. Not even so much as a "sorry about this". NOTHING.
I could go on and rant some more about the rest of this horrible service experience, but will leave it at this.
Costco Tire Executives. WHAT THE HELL? Your people sanctioned my trip with my CHILDREN having put myself and their lives at risk. Do you really think that is acceptable ? How UNBELIEVABLE. You should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. How would you like it if I had gotten into a horrible car accident while doing 80 MPH on a highway going to Walla Walla and killed everyone in the car.
You are irresponsible and horribly unprofessional.
You deserve whatever bad press you get.
Oh. Thank you, Taylor for your lack of managerial skills and poor service. You are a true testament to what a bad hire looks like. read more
