If you want that 5th star Costco, you need to put a store in Buffalo, NY. Preferably Clarence/East Amherst, but that's just my preference. I came upon Costco when we lived in the Seattle area. I doubted it's glorious wonders at first, I mean it's a warehouse store. How good could it be? Then I went there. As I walked through the gates the heavens sighed and an angel chorus began to sing. In my version they were singing "Push It" by Salt and Pepa but I've heard other people claim other songs were sung. This. Store. Is. AWESOME!!!!!! Whatever you want, they have it cheaper and in bulk. They sell high quality items under their own brand name, Kirkland Signature. I bought a set of knock off All-Clad pans from them that are Kirkland Signature. BEST POTS AND PANS!!! And for a fraction of the price of the name brand. I took for granted how awesome Costco was in WA. My favorite thing from them there was the cheap travel to Hawaii through Costco's travel program. I like to load up on diapers, paper towels, TP, Tide, garbage bags, detergents, vitamins and OTC medicines when I come here. You can't leave without a $4.99 rotisserie chicken. Or a $1.50 hotdog and soda combo. Or a $10 pizza. Or a giant delicious sheet cake filled with mousse and costs like, $17. The meat here is all high quality. Nothing here ever sucks. And if it does be assured you can return it because Costco has an excellent return policy. The nice thing about this location near Rochester is it's never very busy. At least not what busy was at a Seattle area Costco. I used to have to circle parking lots 4-5x looking for a spot out there. Here, it's easy. You can get a great spot and never have to search very hard. They sell gas here too, Costco always has the best price on that. The negatives are because NY has some stupid liquor laws, they can't sell liquor or wine here. You know how I mentioned Kirkland Signature makes good stuff? That includes their booze. I do not understand how NY continues to be so slow in the liquor department. Let the grocery stores and Costco sell it! Open a store in Buffalo, Costco. read more

For some reason, I've been experiencing terrible customer service in Costco's locations that are located out of Cali. Either that or their customer service is going down overall. Too bad because I moved away from Cali and used to love Costco. read more

I love Costco. I have had a Costco card for at least 20 years, although looking at my current card, it only has a date of 2005, so needless to say, I am pretty familiar with the company. We were in Rochester visiting friends, so I had to go. This is the second closest Costco to where I live in Buffalo, but it has the advantage of being on this side of the US/Canadian border. I don't have to deal with the border guys explaining why I am buying 300 rolls of toilet paper this way! Anyhow, if you have been in any other Costco that has been built in the last 5-10 years, you know the layout. Specials and electronics in front, hard goods on one sides, foods on the other. Everything is plentiful and inexpensive. Do you want enough cinnamon rolls to feed the entire company? Come here! Do you need 10 pounds of pistachios? They've got you covered. They have fantastic fresh meats. They've got Rochester beers! They have an optical center, and if it's like any of the other ones, it is the best possible place to get your eyeglasses. This location does have a gas station, so huzzah for the cheapest gas anywhere. It's not going to be a place with a lot of touchy feely customer service, and once this place ramps up, the checkout lines are going to be silly busy. But, enjoy it. I liked Costco. The deals were amazing!!! Especially at the food court and the bakery department!! However the reason I am giving one star is due to the terrible attitude personality of the membership desk supervisor and his female subordinate. Thank Gawd none of the other Costco employees behaved the way they did or I would've cancelled my membership on the spot!!They really made the start to this particular shopping trip unpleasant. I was there for the first week of business. We scouted out the store and were sold by the number of organic produce selections they had. I dutifully signed up for the Executive Membership so I could get my 2% back at the end of the year. We bought a significant amount the first trip (around $400). Another $400 purchase for a mattress the same week... and that's where my love affair ends. The organic produce selection has dwindled weekly, until this week... when the only thing they have for organic produce is their spring mix. Don't get me wrong, this is the cheapest meal I feed my kids all week... On Saturdays they can eat their weight in free samples, which are always excellent. But I don't think I will renew the membership unless something drastically changes. read more

Costco is great. Like Sam's or BJ's but some how better. Maybe it's their cheap hot food they sell, quality of products, store layout or just all of that combined. We stop in for produce, some other food and household items, and to just browse. I also got my glasses here, they have a great eye department. They didn't have a doctor when o got my glasses, I just took my prescription in. I wonder if they have a doctor now? read more

When Costco first opened, I was skeptical that just my husband and I -- just the two of us, no kids/no pets -- would use it enough to warrant a membership. I am so happy to encourage anyone who lives anywhere close to Costco to join -- their product offerings are fantastic (super high quality food and products), and the prices on gas provides enough savings to pay for the membership alone! Not to mention the travel savings on car rentals, savings on tires, and getting them to put your snow tires on & off each year. To boot, I would recommend getting the Costco credit card -- the cash -- yes CASH -- rebates are impressive each year! But this review is really for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Their protocols for socially-distanced lines have been GREAT, both while in line waiting to get in but also by limiting how many people can come in the store at once. Their staff to sanitize the carts for us has really streamlined the process. Their supplies have been impressive -- they got TP and paper towels in so much faster than most places. And their meat supplies even in the face of the recent meat shortages has been a relief. The check-out process is easy, and the lines have moved surprisingly quickly compared to what I see on the national news. In summary -- you have brought comfort during strange times -- in part by having so much product available, and for making it safe for us to shop, and safe for your staff. That means SO MUCH to someone like me -- THANK YOU! I have shopped at other local grocery store chains who have few, if any, protocols in place and it has seemed like a ZOO. We've been members since they first opened and are huge Costco fans. The only thing missing (until yesterday that is) was that they don't carry wine. Costco now carries WINE! It's only a small assortment mostly of moscato's but still they have wine! When you buy something at Costco, you know it's going to be good. The brand does thorough testing to make sure every product it carries is of a certain quality level. We've bought everything from laminate wood flooring (at an amazing price and it looks fantastic) to watermelons to beauty products. You can't go wrong with anything at Costco. Pretty soon our entire condo will be filled with Costco items. As a household of just two adults, the membership is 100% worth it. read more

I like Costco in general cause it is a good place shop for variety of things and there are always things we cannot find elsewhere in good quality with good price. The staff was nice and helpful in general. I met two today who was really nice to help me find something I was looking for. One of them didn't know the answer to the questions I asked but he made sure he found some one who did have the answer which was very sweet and great. However I had a bad experience while checking out today. We were in line on the register waiting to check out and there was a gentleman in front of us. Just like us he also had a few things in his cart. And like him we place all of our items for on the belt and left the empty cart on the cashier's side and continue waiting. We did not pay attention but by the time the man in front of us to check out, his cart is gone and I don't think he has noticed that. Because when the cashier pointed at our cart and ask him if it is his "basket" he replied yes and another store employer has begun to place his item into our cart. We were confused for a moment and then we told the cashier that was our basket immediately. The cashier and the other employer did not believe us. They asked the man again and the man say it was his and the cashier reply to us that " it is his basket". The other employer which was a young lady said that the man did have a basket and it is his. "Don't worry we have plenty of baskets" the cashier told us. I clearly remember that the cart was ours since my mom was standing beside the cart the whole time even follow the cart to the cashier's side for a minute. She didn't know that customers do not need to follow the cart and we just have to take out the smaller items and place on the belt and leave the larger ones in the cart and the cashier will be responsible to clear the items and help the customers to reorganize the cart. Then my mom stepped back to the customer's side of the register. So the cart was ours. Despite the fact that the young lady employer brought us a new cart (which was dirty on the handle by the way) I am still upset about the way that they handled the situation, mostly the words the cashier and the young lady employer said during the matter. It sounded like we are liars and cheaters who didn't use a cart and wanted to "steal" a cart from somebody we didn't know. It sounded like we are those who likes to take advantages of everything, even a shopping cart. And I really don't want to guess the reason behind it since we are Asians and the man was a Caucasian. What did she mean "don't worry we have plenty of cart"?! If it was not for my father told me to "let it go" so we did 't say anything and just paid and left, I would have them to check the security camera and prove that we were right. The cart was ours and we were not trying to take advantage. It wasn't the cart, it wasn't the man, it was the attitude and the arrogant logic behind their words and actions. Anyway, next time, if I ever shop in that place again, I will just leave everything inside the cart and have them to deal with it. read more

By far one of the worst shopping experiences I've encountered... every single person was rude from the service lady to the two dimwits selling phone cases at the Verizon stand.. "we have it but we don't have the demo" okay... so you want me to buy something outright and thennn you're going to show it to me?? Wtf someone retrain these idiots. The woman at the service desk "EXCUSE ME... MOVE TO THE SIDE SIR". This can be communicated without the tired old attitudes of the retirees behind the desk. The guy selling hot dogs... put my hot dog IN MY DRINK CUP. WHY?!?! I work in the hospitality industry I almost fainted seeing that. Not only that he was SO RUDE to my grandmother she asked for a veggie slice and he gave her a cheese, she tells him it's wrong and he starts huffing and puffing. The trash cans and condiment station are DISGUSTING, covered in other's filth. All the dining tables as well. Costco get your sh*t together, you guys SUCK. read more

OMG. I JUST CONSUMED THE ABSOLUTE WORST ITALIAN SAUSAGE SANDWICH ON PLANET EARTH. I love Costco. I shop there several times a week. Alas, this time I was hungry and thought a great Italian would really hit the spot. The sausage is HUGE. Bigger than the ordinary mouth can negotiate with any semblance of manners. And then there is the meat within the casing. Where did Costco get this? It doesn't resemble any sausage flavor of any ethnicity! I can assure of this as I am a sausage foodie! This sausage was ghastly. The pepper/onion mix on top was nice. The bun was nice. The temperature was perfect but those features hardly purge my memory of this dreadful experience. My advice is to stick with a lovely pizza slice if hunger overtakes you at Costco. read more

Glad to have Costco come to Rochester! I had been in NJ and our new store here did not disappoint. Got great organic meats and fruits. Also some great cheeses. Stocked up for sure. I received the coupons for joining which were great help. I wish I would have brought the knives from Cutco it was a very nice touch for them to be at Cotsco and they were priced very well for the grand opening. Now you can't get that deal anymore. I wanted them for a shower gift but just didn't have the $ to spend right now. Cotsco has great USA brands and I like that fruits came grown in U.S. As well. As far a warehouse stores go, Costco is best imo. I was so happy when they opened up in Rochester! The quality of their products is superior. I have never been disappointed with a "Kirkland" product. I recently with trepidation purchased a 3 pound bag of Sumatra coffee beans (I'm a little bit of a coffee snob) and it is really quite fine! And it was like 5 dollars a pound! I also remember the days of buying diapers and other small person items there for reasonable prices as well. Meat and cheese selections are really good, and they do have a more eclectic selection than their main competitor...There are times when you have a bit of "sticker shock" when you pick up an item, but you have to factor it unit pricing and quality---you will almost always get the better deal here. So get a freezer, get a friend to split with, have another kid, whatever works for you to capitalize on "warehouse" quantities. The gasoline price alone makes membership a good deal. read more

Went to Costco and asked if they could help with a donation for National foundation for transplants. My grandmother is in need of a bone marrow transplant. https://give.transplants.org/site. I was told no its against company policy to make any type of donation to a profit fundraiser and or personal use fundraiser for tax purposes. I put up the link its a non profit foundation and i was raising the money for The National Foundation for transplants honor of Janet Brown my grandmother not myself. So not sure how that's personal use. I asked BJ's as well. They donated a gift card and put up two flyers in their break room for the redemption fundraiser I have set up in her honor and a spaghetti dinner we are having in her honor. We got what we need for the price that we wanted (could be cheaper :-)) I think we will be regular shoppers here for sure. We saw many people come here for Sunday's brunch so we tried it too. If Sam's was not closing down in the area I wouldn't even have gone into a Costco! I went into browse today, and was greeted by the entrance Costco police and then the lady at the customer service desk was so miserable and rude! Wasn't sure if she was over worked or mad because I refused the offer to open a credit card that I didn't need. She threw a packet at me and acted like she was doing me a favor by signing me up for a membership. I am a new customer at the new Costco having switched from BJ's ( because of closer location and recommendation of friends who have been long-time Costco fans. am very impressed by their service to their customers. In particular, as I was checking out my purchases 5/23/16, Tom- one of the check-out assistants - came up to me to point out that I was entitled to a 2nd package of one of the food items for the same price, and that regardless of whether I got one or 2 packages, the price was the same. This store is lowkey nice as a bitch. They got samples everyday so if you're hungry just go in and you could probably get enough various samples to equal a meal. Love the product selections. So as of today, I'm not so happy. Does anyone else feel like Costco is a bit bossy? Today, Sunday, I went to pick up a prescription and return an item. I went to Customer Service to process my return and was informed, you MUST get your picture taken today. This was kind of out of the blue. Since it was Sunday and I wasn't all fancied up for a picture, I declined and asked if I could get it taken care of next time. Answer: Well, if you don't get it done today, we can't process your return. I felt like they were holding me hostage. She said they've been told they have to get everyone's picture. So she processed my return, and confiscated my card and directed me to the photo area. I told the gal taking photos I really didn't want my photo taken today and would prefer to do it next time to which she said we're sorry it has to be today. What a load of crap. I've spent $100s there since they opened. I also don't like the militant way they come at you for your ID card when you enter the store. BJs doesn't do this. BJs doesn't care about showing an ID card until its time to check out. It's like Costco has something to hide. I also discovered the pharmacy was not open on Sunday. What a pain. I'm thinking about cancelling my membership and going back to BJs. read more

In my opinion I wouldn't take your car to Costco tire shop! They caused damage to my car. They put a small dent and chipped my paint on my lower door from there lift they use. There insurance company is a jerk and wont fix my car. Yet when you ask them to see the video they wont show you, also their cameras dont get a close up view of the cars to zoom in to see if damages was there before or after(what thebinsurance lady said to my husband). I do have a small dent on that door previously which is no where the damage they caused. They tried to say you can't prove the damage is from them. I asked if I can take it back and put it on lift and measure where it lines up to prove to them it's from there lift and wouldn't let me. How can they say didnt cause the damage then. The insurance lady said there would be paint transfer from the lift, ummmm no not necessary. You scrapped my paint off aka chipped it! The guy that put my tires on screwed up with my staggered tires and placed a bigger tire on the front instead of the back. When they went to pull my car out it wouldn't move because of it. Then he had to Jack my car back up on the lift. I watch him jerk my car on the lift. Meanwhile now it was closing time for him he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Because he screwed up! He apologized to me that he didnt realized my tire were staggered. Come on! Really? How don't you notice the size difference. I was upset at this point because I already waited over an hour for a simple tire swap. I took a picture of my car on the lift to show my husband I was still waiting. You can see in the picture where the lift is touching my car and that's where the damage is. I take excellent care of my car. I just got it last year. I didn't noticed the damage till the next day because it was raining that night. The next day I brought it to Coscto attention. I'm highly disappointed in Costco and there crappy insurance company. All I want is my car fixed! They need to do the right thing! If you break something or aka damage something you should fix it! read more
