I always get the $1.50 hotdog and soft drink and share the bun with my dog, Hannah I really wish they would offer Coffee, although I did get the coffee freeze and it had some caffeine in it I go to Costco almost every day because it's less than 2 miles from my house I always find something different to buy And always have to split up what it is. I drive here from Buffalo, because I am a long-time Costco member and keep hoping for the one in Buffalo to be built (yes I know that's basically a pipe dream at this point). It's a good place to stock up on essentials for decent prices if you have storage space for bulk items and can predict how much you'll need. Items and brands are not consistent - sometimes they have the things I want, sometimes not, and sometimes the brands get changed out. I understand why but it's frustrating if you are used to a certain flavor or texture and then it isn't available anymore. Costco used to be consistently the best prices on everything and now you really have to know your grocery places because some things are not really deals, it's just a gigantic box at a similar cost per ounce of other places. Quality of those items has also become inconsistent (like everywhere else I guess) so mostly I stick to nonperishable items now. The parking lot is always very busy, the lines are always long, and if you need customer service for anything be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes in line. The hot dogs are still $1.50... but now they are using a bun that falls apart into mush the minute you put ketchup on it. I would rather pay an extra fifty cents for my hot dog than get it on a soggy cheap bun. It's too bad, because I used to look forward to those and probably will not get them anymore. Overall, sometimes they have good deals, and you can order some things online for delivery, but shopping in person can be frustrating especially after a long drive. Also I went to change from the higher level membership to the lower level one and they were super pushy about keeping the higher level one even though I don't go there often enough to make it worth that. Going to Costco on a Sunday afternoon made for an exciting shopping experience. The store is extremely busy but the staff do an amazing job keeping things moving. I was so impressed by the amount of staff on hand and how quickly lines moved. The store is very well organized, well stocked, and clean. I found the store layout easy to navigate. The sample stations were out of the way and I appreciated being able to try some of the snacks offered. Found some great deals on bulk goods and of course left with a few unplanned items. Everything was very organized and there were lots of employees to assist to answer questions or help. They had lots of self checkout lanes as well as cashiers ringing. I have been a Costco member since 2003, but spent the last 2 years living 3 hours away from the nearest Costco. I was SO excited to have a local Costco again. But when I visited this Rochester Costco for the first time, I was completely blown away by what I experienced- not in a good way. It wasn't even a weekend and it was completely jam packed with people. I'm used to long lines at Costco but this was sort of next level combined with crowds and just sort of a rough crowd. Some shelves were empty. It was hard to find parking. The gas line was impossible. The customer service line had some of the most disgruntled people in it- not the employees who were doing their best, the customers. Loudly cussing. There was a man who had his special needs daughter on a harness leash and she was having a moment so there were blood curdling screams for a little while. I've heard lots of explainers about the delays for the Buffalo store, the Penfield location falling through, etc. but it doesn't change the present store experience. read more

I love Costco! They have the best prices on food and on clothing. They have namebrand clothing for a lot less than you pay anywhere else. They have an awesome bakery where you can get a half sheet cake filled with either raspberry gel gel filling or cream cheese moose. I would recommend the cheesecake mousse it's delicious. The check out service is very efficient. This store is crazy busy! The selection of merchandise is amazing! Pricing is competitive! We have found items that were half the price of an online purchase. There are groceries, furniture, toiletries, household items, electronics, small and large appliances! I was disappointed on this trip because they didn't have Celtic sea salt that was on Instagram. I used in buying some clothing since I was starting a new job(that is the excuse to buy clothes). Maybe we came at a bad time??? We love Costco. While visiting the ROC, we swung by this one around 7:30pm on a Friday. I saw a notice on Yelp that they close in 1 hour. Well, apparently everyone in the ROC who has a membership was there... we had only grabbed a bag of apples and some Chomps beef sticks and then saw the checkout line. OH. MY. WORD. It was huge! It stretched down the main aisle nearly half way down the store. Needless to say, we put our 2 items back. Perhaps we'll try back at some point during our trip. Keep in mind that COSTCO is a warehouse. Service is very good at the front end and good in the bakery and meat departments. Everywhere else, you pretty much are on your own. I exclude the specialty departments (hearing, vision and pharmacy). I love that new items are arriving weekly and annoyed when I find a product I really love is no longer available, I really appreciate their willingness to accept a return with your proof of purchase or through their record search, no matter how ago you purchased the product. The have a standard layout that have wide aisles and well it. Their prices are generally cost saving via bulk purchases. But, not always. read more

Ok I've been here a million times and now with the change in our world due to Covid please abide by their rules on masking and etc. No lines to wait in to get in like last year. They now have a self check out cause let's be frank sometimes you have five items and every line is filled with people with pallets of stuff. Do yourself a favor and attempt to get here early in the day, any day. The holiday season does become a bit crazy and yes lines can go all the way to the frozen food section. Costco is like this.. if you see something you best get it cause it might not be there a month from now. They carry bulk items, but house brand TP and etc is excellent and you can't beat the price point. They do have a good meat/seafood section and yes you can get that $4.99 chicken. They have items for the holidays, a book/gift section. You can buy furniture, electronics and jewelry. The prices on something's are great others not so much so shop around. But like I said if you see something get it cause it might not be back. This location like some others in certain states DO NOT carry House brand Wine or Liquor. So that's that. It's a big place, you can get your steps in. No you will have no clue what's down the aisles they don't put signs. They do have a pharmacy (hours?) they also have an eye center for your glasses and contact needs. Also the gas for your car is good it's top tier. My favorite store in Rochester. The parking is always great, and you always walk away with a deal. I think the employees are always so friendly and helpful. They really go the extra mile to help you out. I know the greeter is there to check your membership, but honestly this location's greeter is always so welcoming and warm. The store is always so organized and clean. I know the humongous carts + busy hours can irk a lot of shoppers, but I have never waited more than 5 minutes in line to check out. This is a fairly standard Costco, so if you have been to one before you know what to expect here. They have all the standard departments, including optical and pharmacy. It's a great place to stock up on things you use regularly. You don't have to be a huge household to benefit from a Costco membership. You can get frozen things or non perishables even if you are a household of just one or two. I would recommend the eye doctor at the optical department here, he is very helpful and friendly. My girlfriend has a membership, so you can find me tagging along for cheap gas and hot dogs. I know there's more to Costco than this, but a la Marie Kondo, these 2 things bring me joy. Most of Costco's bulk items are too much for our 2-person household. However, like others do, we "stock up." Nothing like buying 1 year's worth of toilet paper and paper towels at once. I generally appreciate Costco and the customer service I receive. This year, had a terrible experience with Costco tires at the Westfall Road, Rochester, NY store. Here was my experience. 11/13/24: Bought tires and wheels at Costco online. 11/14/24: Tires arrived at Costco. 11/20/24: Wheels arrived at my home. 11/20/24: Used online tool to schedule my appointment with a note to install TPMS sensors. 11/24/24: Arrived ahead of time for my appointment. Learned then that they didn't have TPMS sensors available for my car. Was told they should be in within 1-2 days. Was told they would call me on Tuesday or Wednesday with an update. 11/27/24: Never received a call. 11/28/24 and 11/29/24: Called multiple times and Costco Tire center never answered the phone, except for once when they picked up and seemed to place the phone on the counter (presumably so people would stop calling). 11/29/24: Went to Costco in person to ask about TPMS because they never called as they committed. Learned they still didn't have sensors available for my car. 12/1/24: Called multiple times and Costco Tire Center never answered the phone. 12/2/24: Went in person to the store again to ask about TPMS. Sensors were still not available, and they had no idea about when they would arrive. Because of the delay, the Costco team member at the counter advised me to buy my own sensors. 12/2/24: Ordered pre-programmed TPMS as recommended by the Costco team member. 12/6/24: Received pre-programmed TPMS. 12/6/24: Went in-person to make the appointment. A different Costco team member said they wouldn't install my monitors, contradicting what I was told on 12/2. They did have sensors for my car available at that time. Made the appointment stating that I wanted tires, wheels, lug nuts, and sensors installed. 12/12/24: Dropped my car at 10a for my 3:15p appointment so they'd have time to get it completed. Explained again everything that was needed including where the new wheels, lug nuts, and four sensors were inside the car. This member (different from the other two) said that they may be able to install the ones that I purchased. Got confirmation that they would try to install my TPMS, but if not they would install the ones they had in stock. They said the car would be completed by 4:15p. I returned to Costco at 5:20p and they were still working on the car. Because I could see the car, it looked like they were installing the wrong wheels. At 5:35p, when the car was partially finished, I finally found someone and asked them to check on the wheels. As I suspected, they were installing new tires on the old, rusted steel wheels without TPMS. Team member said they'd go back and do it correctly. Waited in store while they fixed their mistake. At 6:15p, I was told that the car was almost complete except that one of the new lug nuts from Velox was faulty. Costco member said they installed one wheel with only four lug nuts so I would know which to fix. Was told the car would be done before 6:30p. Waited until 6:50p until I finally found someone to ask about where it was; turns out they forgot to tell me that it was done. TPMS faulty indicator light was on. Costco team member said to drive it and it will go away. Drove home, late for a 7p Zoom meeting. 12/13/24: Checked wheels. Turns out that they did not leave off one lug nut: All four wheels have five lug nuts, so now I don't know which is wrong. Drove car about 80 miles that day. TPMS light remained on. 12/15/24: Emailed Velox about faulty lug nut 12/18/24: New lug nut arrived. 1/1/25: TPMS indicator remains on after over 500 miles. I've lost all faith in Costco Tire. I have no idea if the sensors are installed and not working or if they were never installed. read more

Coming from being a former Sam's club member..I will say Costco is very similar. So similar I really wonder if Sam's Club ripped off Costco's ways..Or maybe vice versa? I probably should have looked to see which warehouse club was first before typing this review. Some of the things you will find at Costco that will remind you of Sam's club will be the croissants in the bakery section...taste the same and cost the same. Or The hotdog combo at the food court...same taste, same price. You say you miss Sam's rotisserie chicken? Same recipe I kid you not...same price. Even with there being so many similarities, I have come to the conclusion that Costco did it better. In every way. Their meat is fresher, their bakery section is better, thier food court is better(and they just added chili to the menu which is freaking delicious!). Their house brand name(Kirkland Signature) is leaps and bounds better...Oh my Goodness how I love Kirkland Signature! You will start to realize why Costco has such a loyal following after you try some of their Kirkland Signature products. Even the furniture they sell is better than the stuff Sam's used to sell. Costco's furniture is on par with an expensive furniture store. One thing I don't like though is that you gotta show your membership card to get in...the way you had to show it at Sam's club until Sam's changed their policy. I get it, it's a membership club.. but on a freezing winter's day with below zero wind-chill. Where you are rushing from your car to get into the warmth of Costco..you really don't want to fidget around in your wallet trying to find your card to show the door person. First off, Costco is great if you want to buy in bulk and save on time/money. They also have fun and new products that they are always adding too. I especially love the children's book section and clothes! The premade foods are great too, definitely a big fan of the $5 freshly roasted chickens. The food court has the best ice cream sundaes I've ever tasted. I had to bring other people with me so they could try it themselves because I didn't understand how it was so good. The bakery is also awesome and sooo affordable! I ordered a chocolate sheet cake for my baby "sprinkle" and as people were eating it they were saying mmmmm and asking me where the cake was from because it was so good. For $25 I was pretty blown away by the quality. A family member even asked me to get them a cake for a separate event they are planning in a couple weeks. I love Costco and almost every person I bring with me ends up getting a membership because they do too. Totally worth the membership cost!! read more

Most Costcos on the west coast are constantly packed with people all the time, but I was surprised to see how empty the Costco here was (it could also have been the time we visited - Friday at 11am). With covid, they're having people stand in line before heading in the store, and they aren't doing samples, but other than that, you can find most Costco items. :) read more

I have been a member since Costco first opened, I'm very happy here. I did have a Sam's Club membership so I often compare the two. I love coming here for many reasons. They have the best produce! Avocados are the amazing here, I wait a couple of days and they are perfectly ripe! Costco carries Ruby Frost and Snap Dragon apples, which are my favorite and are hard to come by if it isn't the fall time. The separate packaging per apple prevents them from getting bruised. These apples are huge! (That's what she said.) Get the cookies in the bakery area, so soft and delicious. You will thank me later. I recently purchased king size bed sheets for $20, what a steal! They are so soft and comfy. I also bought a king size mattress pad for $40. One time they had Uggs for $70! Costco will often have random deals like those but they go quickly. I like coming here for the cheap gas too. Costco started taking Visa Credit Cards. They are quite strict about accepting cards that aren't under the member's name. They gave me a hard time when my husband tried to pay with his card. I still love Costco and all these samples. read more

I'm from the NW and I absolutely LOVE Costco. Unique high quality items at reasonable prices. This location is always super clean and never too busy. The gas is inexpensive. You can find grocery staples as well as apparel, home decor, appliances and furniture. There is also a vision center and pharmacy. I shop here monthly with a friend and stock up for the month on our household staples. I much prefer Costco to the competitor that now is closed in Geneva. Totally worth the drive. read more

We tried the Costco tire center for the first time this month. When one of our tires blew out we thought we'd give Costco tires a try. I had previously gotten tires at another local warehouse store and had amazing service. But since I changed memberships to Costco, I thought we'd try them. Never again. Saturday we went in, the tires weren't in stock, so we ordered them since we originally were told the tires would arrive Wednesday. We'd get a phone call to schedule the service. Wednesday came, no call. We called them 4 times before contacting someone at the main service desk and asking them to deliver a message. To their credit the tire center called back that day letting us know the tires come in every few days and we'd receive an email with a link to schedule the service. We wait another week for that email, or a phone call (at this point we weren't sure what to expect) and then I finally call back again. Once this time, but only because I refused to hang up until I spoke with someone. They informed us the tires were in (had been for a few days) and we scheduled service for the next day. Friday we arrive for the tires (almost 2 weeks after ordering) and they were running behind by 1.5 hours. Okay, sure. No problem. We did our warehouse shopping, check out the wine tasting, grab a quick dinner and check back in on the car (2 hours after we dropped it off). It still hadn't been put up on the lifts to change the tires. Another 1.5 hour wait and they were done. We won't ever go back, however you could keep some of your customers by communicating with them. It's that simple. I shopped around and we didn't save any money by buying them from Costco, we could have spent a few more dollars and had an alignment added in somewhere else. Hindsight - we'll go to a tire place next time, not to Costco. read more

This Costco was the first to open in the Rochester area. It is still well maintained, clean and organized as if it had just opened a month ago. I love all Costco's but I love this one the best because the employees are super friendly, welcoming and helpful from greeting until receipt check exiting. The store is usually crowded however never too crammed and the check out line is super fast as well. However my favorite part of going to Costco (as is many peoples) is the FREE SAMPLES! This store always has many samples for customers and are always very delicious. read more

Not sure if it was just a rough day or if this is the norm for Costco's across the nation - but my experience here was off on a number of different fronts. 1) I had ordered my membership online and simply wanted to go and pick up my card. This process is a little bit backwards as you have to go in through the exit, wait for them to give membership diatribes to all of the other people standing in line, and THEN go grab your card you had already decided on and paid for. 2) Unfortunately, I didn't even get to go home with my member card after going through the waiting process, as their machine was down. I took my temporary card and went on my way Overall, the rest of the experience was fine. I found most things that I needed in a fairly timely fashion and prices are right on par with a BJs or Sam's club. I was ignored completely by the person checking me out and didn't realize they needed my "card" again upon checkout as I was a newbie...aaaaaand both check out attendants just sort of stared at me. Overall, I think this location needs some serious customer service work unless that's just across the board at all Costco's. I will obviously still be back as I signed on for the year membership and this is the only location, and hope to update my review with more positive experiences. read more
