The food was ok. The ribs were extremely greasy and average tasting along with the fries. Nice place with outside seating and quiet atmosphere. read more

Costa's BBQ - Some ribs to start the day. - Barbeque Near Me - Elizabeth, New Jersey

I'm not usually a big BBQ person, but I happily make an exception for this place. Their food is cooked so well every single time, and the flavors always come through. The rice is honestly one of my favorites, as it is perfectly seasoned and the ideal side to their BBQ. The portions you get are also incredibly generous. Service is super quick and efficient, whether you're ordering in person or over the phone. Whenever I bring their BBQ home for my family, it's always a hit (never any leftovers). If you're craving great Portuguese BBQ or just want a reliable meal to bring home, this spot is a definite go-to. read more

Every one is always nice and friendly and the roast chicken is so good will definitely be back real soon

We ordered ribs a week or so ago and they were delicious. But we went back for the empanadas. They are stuffed full of filling. Very good all of them. The service was quick with two cashiers. They were both very helpful and efficient. read more

Very upset at the fact that I called to place my order and show up to the store and my order was not placed AT ALL. I placed my order at the store, went to go pick it up, and when I came back home my order was completely wrong :( I called back the store to address the situation but they did nothing to help me out and wanted me to go back after I was there back to back. Make sure when you call the store that they actually placed your order instead of wasting your time and check your food before leaving the restaurant to make sure you got your right order :( read more

Since I didn't have a menu from them, I went and ordered takeout at the restaurant. I figured it would take around 30 mins. First of, the staff was friendly and helpful. I was told that my order would take 15 minutes, and was out in less than 10 (got lucky and caught them as the ribs and chicken were just coming off the spit). Now comes the food... I got chicken and ribs with fries (I'm not a fan of the rice from most of these Portuguese bbq places, but that's a whole review in and of itself). Everything was solid! The chicken and ribs had some great flavor. You can tell the user some good wood in the grill, and a good quality salt. Overall, they are very solid, and are now my go to Portuguese bbq spot in the area! read more

The food was pretty good, but I did expect a lil more flavor. The service was very pleasant. No complaints there. The physical layout was pretty nice. They even have a patio for outside dining. The prices were a little high for the portions that were given to us. read more

The food is really good. I ordered the paella and fried fish. The fish was cooked perfectly. The paella was good wasn't expecting lobster to be in but a half was. Four stars rather than five as they are a little pricey. read more

I just went to Costa's 2 days ago last time was 2 weeks ago and the food still taste the same. It sucks it has no taste look at this picture I bought the same things in ShopRite call your brand and it taste better when I cooked it For the price they charging you ridiculous I don't know how these Colombian restaurants are staying open has no flavor there's only three of them and Elizabeth that tastes good worth the while to go to. I don't know how people are going to fight four stars. Don't waste your time going there. I called Nana can of black and beans from Gloria it taste better than what they cook and the fries ‍ read more

A local gem in my old neighborhood! I ordered a tray of chicken, fries and rice for my dad's birthday celebration. The food was delicious! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. My only complaint was I had to wait a bit longer for my food to be ready despite ordering ahead of time, but didn't mind too much since the food came out hot and fresh. read more

Not impressed at all. I've drive by and wanted to check it out. The best part was the bread. The server walks starting at the floor. If you want condiments you have to ask for them and they only bring one at a time. So ask for salt, pepper and olive oil or you won't see it. The beats salad was stalled, more like frozen lol and was tasteless... too much mayo as dressing. Not good. The empanadas had a nice crust but the meat was tasteless. The Paella was ok, but not a do over. May be their BBQ chicken is their specialty but I will not find out. read more

This is your typical Portuguese BBQ restaurant. I entered through the takeout section of the restaurant and ordered half barbecue chicken with vegetables and boiled potatoes. Chicken was very tough with no seasonings. Even salt was very limited. Vegetables were watery with no seasoning and so were the potatoes. I tried to put oil and vinegar to just to see if it would add on taste and it was still bad. Chicken was so tough I had to throw it out. What a shame I was looking so forward to enjoying my dinner as I had worked all day and I was starving. I'm not coming back here that is for sure. read more

So in case you didn't know Costas now has a restaurant side to it ! It's really nice and they even have a cute outdoor seating area. I came on a Monday for dinner and as expected it was pretty much empty . My friend and I were the only ones in the restaurant ( of course the BBQ side was pretty busy as usual) . The waiter was very nice and brought us bread, butter and olives to the table . I ordered the picadinho mixto and my friend the grilled beef ribs . My picadinho was good but I've had better . Felt like the sauces was missing flavor . As for the ribs my friend liked her dish . I definitely plan on going back maybe on a weekend and try other plates read more

I absolutely love Costa's. Over the years they really have developed as a business and I honestly think the food has gotten so much better. Now they have an outside patio area and restaurant which shows that the business is growing. The service is always friendly and the food leaves you wanting more. I haven't officially diner in as yet, is usually pick up and go but I will be dining in soon! read more

Saw this place had good reviews online and got takeout. Ordered half an order of pork ribs with baked potato and broccoli as sides for $12.50. This is a huge amount of food! There are 2 full baked potatoes in there and a lot of broccoli. I ate half of this and was full. Ribs were tender and juicy and potato was soft and buttery. Insanely good at the price point =) read more

Great food; big portions. Every time I go; I get the combo and it feeds my family of 5. Their pork ribs are very savory; rice is delish and French fries are always crispy. Their green salad is always fresh. read more

It's been years since my first visit and I have to say, the most impressive part about Costa's is that very little has changed. The restaurant still has the feel of a family owned business, but one that can crank out food at a rate that some bigger and more expensive restaurants could only hope to emulate. When I am in need of a quick meal and don't have the time to cook, I know I can count on Costa's! Among my favorite items to order are their garlic chicken and garlic broccoli. Both make for a very satisfying meal when put together. I also love the sausage appetizer but be warned it is salty. You'll want something like veggies or rice to cut it. I recently tried their ham and cheese empenada for the first time. It was a *bit* too salty for me but it definitely packed some serious flavor punch! I will likely try the beef or chicken ones next time. Costa's is dependable and more than worth the price. I am happy that this spot is still around after all these years. read more

The food was well seasoned but over cooked, the meat was very scorched and there was nothing to eat. The potatoes were fine. It is a place I would recommend if you are very hungry and have a low budget. It's not to be repeated read more

This is one of my favorite local spots to order from. The food is always delicious! And for the price, you can't beat it!

Chicken was well done and the potatoes were cooked just right. I pre ordered and all was ready for take out and reasonable priced.

Note: there is a serious upcharge for eating in. It's like 20%. Ridiculous. The food is meh at best. The meat was bland and the rice and fries are not seasoned at all. Takeout prices are on par with most other places and the people who work here are really nice. I wish the food was better. There are soooo many options for Portuguese in Elizabeth, I'd skip this place. read more

I ordered from via grubhub on a Saturday evening. The food was ready in about 40 mins. I ordered 3 of their combos with sides including beef ribs, sirloin, pork ribs, chicken, fried cassava, and maduros. The meat was cooked perfectly, I ordered medium - medium rare. Good sized portions, I had enough to feed 7 adults. Only wish there was some hot sauce to top it off, overall would definitely order again! read more

First time trying Costa's, I been looking for a good Portuguese bbq spot for a while now and I've finally found it. The ribs are very meaty compared to other ribs they are delicious. Aside from the incredibly generous portions, the place is spotless. They were even cleaning the computer screens the last time I was there. The fish sandwich has a huge piece for a reasonable price and I had some left over to take home. They speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese competently. I plan to return frequently whenever I am anywhere nearby. read more

This place is absolutely great...food is very good, huge portions, friendly service and the prices very reasonable , the only problem with this place is so small even without COVID-19 there's no room to sit comfortably. They really should move to a bigger location, they would have no problem filling a nice sized dining room read more

I decided to give them a try and Im glad I did! I ordered 2 platters and it was more than enought to feed 4 of us. I saw their sweets selection and couldnt resist! We were around the area and it looked good. Walked in and got turned off ASAP. There were hand written signs "Eat in extra charge 25%fee". Immediately walked out. To begin, the first time I ordered from here it was ok (ordered bbq combo with French fries and rice). Now today the Food was a bit salty (I ordered the BBQ combo with beans and rice). First time ordering takeout today and pretty disappointed to be honest. Ordered the ribs and chicken combo and the chicken breasts were very dry and warm, not hot. The ribs were good, but the fries were soggy and undercooked. Keep in mind, I ordered when I got there and waited 15 minutes for my food, so there's no excuse for the food to be anything but piping hot and cooked properly. read more

I've been going to the one down the street for years n never gave vistas a chance, until the other place started slacking on there food n service. First, better food n not so much salt added like others do. Clean food n not burnt. Great place to hit he spot after work. $7 for half chicken, I remember when it was only 5.50. And since I'm paying damn near $7, I might as well get better quality food at costas. read more
