Finally had a chance to check out this spot! We ordered the lamb ribs (chops)- they were so delicious! I highly recommend this place if you're craving some bbq chicken and ribs. The staff were really friendly and patient with us. The place is pretty cozy, they do have tables to sit in, but it's probably better to take it to go . I'll be back here to try the red snapper! Best food ever! This place has been around for a long time and a real part of the Elmora community.

This place was absolutely terrible. We ordered via uber eats (Elmora BBQ II) and it is the worst thing I've eaten in a long time. Super dried out chicken and flavorless short rib. I don't even know how a short rib could lack flavor??? The only thing that was palatable was the rice which was dry but seasoned. The fries were soooo mushy and a gray color. The side of veggies were so plain could have done it at home. I do not recommend this place and I don't know HOW this place has almost 4 stars. Completely inaccurate rating. read more

DO NOT ORDER ON UBER EATS. I am not sure if it's an issue with uber eats or with this place. I cannot comment on the food as I never received it! I placed a pickup order around 1220ish and the app said it would be ready at 12:57. I get there at 12:57 and I was ignored until I spoke up, fine. Dude says it'll be 20 minutes, so around 1:17? Well I go back in there at 1:17 and it's still not going to be ready for a bit. I left at 1:22 because I had to return to work, hence ordering for pickup. I never received my food and uber eats offered no solutions. Dishes are AMAZING! One of my favorite memories with my family is picking up some of these dishes along the way home from Jersey! They also provide catering platters. Ok folks. Let me upfront about Elmira Barbecue. I've been Patronengurts this bbq joint for over 20 yrs. I usually just show up in person and place my order. Usually order half BBQ Chicken/BBQ pork spare ribs combo without fries or rice. Huge portion, well seasoned, not overly salty and cooked perfectly. Also love the grilled salmon or red snapper. Everything is FRESH! Bottom line: It's a non pretentious, hole in the wall, Portuguese Barbecue take out place with a few small tables for dine in customers. Very clean. Atmosphere: Hot (from grill), Noisy (guys taking orders from customers in-person + phone orders + efficiently dispatching said orders). Not much English spoken here but I've never had an issue communicating with the Spanish speaking guys taking orders. Really like the guys, really sweet even if they are sooo busy during lunch or dinner hours. So don't expect much ambiance. The food is the STAR. Give it a try! read more

Yummy yummy in my tummy. This Elmora BBQ is a true gem. I have been coming here since I was 10 years old. If you are looking for authentic Portugees BBQ this is the place to go to. Their rice is made daily in this huge pot. Unlike other BBQ spots, they cut their own potatoes to fry. They are not from a bag! My family usually orders a chicken platter and the chicken is perfect. The seasoning is amazing. They season it will fresh garlic, some portuguese white wine, and some secret ingredients. As for the service, they could use a little bit of help especially during their busier times. Only three guys work here. One of them is the owner (the portuguese one...whose usually loud and sometimes a little bit tipsy to say the least). This BBQ is not a place to sit in. They do have tables, but it's usually pretty loud. I would suggest take out, but remember to call ahead. If you don't speak Portuguese or Spanish, it might be a little bit hard to order. This is the best Portuguese BBQ I've ever had. There's been a place down the street from me and one 10 blocks away from me...but still, this is the place to order from despite it being 10 minutes away. We ordered from them for a work party once and I volunteered to pick up all the food by myself. My plan was to take it all home for myself and never return to work again. BBQ town. You find a place that offers BBQ chicken every 5 mins and I am in a mission to find the good portuguese place. This restaurant has a good price but the chicken lacks that zesty bbq taste. Absolutely BANGING Food! Awesome Awesome Awesome! We used to come visit family in Elizabeth and they would go pick up food from Emora and we fell in love! Since then we moved to Elizabeth and have become frequent fliers. We normally get the combination platter, the ribs are the best! Gotta try the T-bone next time. It's not a place to dine in at all, but we don't mind picking up and heading home to chow down. So, this place definitely isn't recommended for a sit-down meal. It's small and cramped and there is very little seating area. However, the BBQ is delicious! Portions are big, the ribs and chicken are actually not dry inside, I think they give a bit more meat than other Portuguese BBQ places I have been to, and I like their super greasy fries (guilty pleasure, sorry). Cons: Parking is nonexistent, prices have been raised a dollar or two on some combos and salads, staff aren't the friendliest but you will get your food quickly. Tip: call ahead of time! read more

We pick up barbecue there whenever we are in Elizabeth. The wait can be a little long, but it's good food at a reasonable price. We had the T Bone steak most recently, and you have to make sure they don't over-cook it. We told them "medium," but I'm not sure they understand what I meant. I had to tell them to take it off the grill. It was a little red, so they put it back on the grill, and I had to get them to take it back off before it over-cooked. This fucking place sucks. They fell off hard. I lived in elmora for some time, and it was always a good spot to go to, but the food now is burned, shitty, and the staff are rude and incompetent. And they don't speak English. I went down the street to costas BBQ, and they're 100 times better than this shithole. If u go in and you wait to be served, they don't take initiative and ask you, even if u have an order. There was numerous occasions, not just I, that people have gone in there and had to ask to be helped, even when they are the only people inside. Fucking idiots. Like this place!. Cheap and great pick up Portuguese style BBQ. The meat is cooked over a huge charcoal grill, enhancing all the flavors. The chicken and ribs are the big sellers here and it is delicious. They have combos with rice and fries plus a delicious salad --- I suggest you to get a big salad; very fresh. You also have to take into consideration that this is NOT your traditional BBQ with the sweet and zesty sauce! This is Portuguese/Latin BBQ with sea salt and spices so if you are looking for the sweet flavor this is not the place. I didn't give the five stars because of the service --- the guys are a mess and very disorganized. As I mention before this is a pick up place and it is very busy 24/7 so it takes awhile to get your order.
