Our tour guide highly recommended Costa Diva during our day tour of the Amalfi Coast. So we all decided absolutely. A family owned business over many generations, they do food, service and showmanship right. A delightful flare for describing their specials and menu items. Located in Praiano, you'll find yourself in a postcard type setting with a beautiful Lemon Garden surrounding you and overlooking a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. While the menu was amazing and extensive, I was in the mood for something that wasn't on the menu. So I asked the maître d' if he could accommodate me. Well he was beaming ear to ear because it was one of his favorite meals. He said absolutely we can. I finished every bit of this amazing Linguini and mussels in a tomato basil sauce. It was so good I think I could have done a second helping of it. lol A delicious vino and an, out of this world, tiramisu made for a wonderful experience and fantastic meal. But they weren't done yet. A complimentary toast with a shot of Limoncello was the cherry on top. read more

We stopped here for lunch during a guided tour, and loved it so much we came back for lunch the next day. Food was fresh and delicious. We loved all our dishes and the favorites were the gnocchi with red sauce, risotto with shrimp and lemon, the squid appetizer and the fresh fish! Costa Diva sits right on the edge of Praiano overlooking the Med. The pergolas of lemon trees and twinkly lights make it look right out of a postcard! It's a family owned spot with many generations there working. Everyone was kind and accommodating. Like most restaurants in Praiano, it's known for its seafood, which is what I ordered. I'm so glad I did! I got the seafood platter that came with a variety of fish and squid. Everything was so fresh! It also came with a side of of grilled zucchini and carrots that complimented the fish perfectly. We also got a caprese salad to start which, wow these tomatoes were seriously the best I have ever had. We also loved the tres leche and lemon cake we shared at the end of the night! Beautiful location, very good food. Four of us were taken here as part of a guided tour of the Amalfi coast. Loved the lemon trees and the view from our table was beautiful. Menu is mainly fish based with several pastas also available. Waiter recommended dishes and service was perfectly spaced to enable relaxed meal yet back on the road in a reasonable timeframe. Parking, like so many places on the coast, was very challenging but there is a fellow at the gate to guide you. Place was filled with small private tour groups. It was a perfect place to stop. This was our first dinner in Praiano and immediately made me want to leave. The staff is very "shady"...charging different amounts than what is listed on the menu. They pressure you and are not very friendly. When we were finished they presented us with a bill that had several items we did not order or receive. We were so lucky to have a relative with us that spoke Italian and could explain we were not going to pay all of these additional charges. This place was terrible. The food was sub par. The owner pushy. The staff inattentive. On top of this the owner adds a 20% service charge, but the wait staff gladly excepted the 20% cash gratuity. Gorgeous lemon garden restaurant, great service and wine. The food was fantastic, fresh prepared with seasonal ingredients, lots of fresh seafood. Bread baked daily, served with first cold press olive oil and balsamic vinegar. the place was recommended by our private tour guide, it is difficult to find if you don't know the exact location. There are several steps down to get to the restaurant and several steps up, no wheel chair access which will be difficult for some people. read more

The view here is amazing, but our experience was less spectacular. Our hired driver from Amalfi to Positano recommended this restaurant for lunch. In hindsight, my wife and I think he was pushing this because of a relationship. Our lunch turned out to be a nearly 2.5 hour stop because we had to keep waiting for staff to order, bring food, correct mistakes, and pay. They brought us multiples of some dishes, and when we responded we only ordered one they insisted we go ahead and keep them. When trying to wrap up we were offered desert, which we declined, and were brought two. The kicker.. we were then charged for them and the extra items mentioned above. The entire thing felt staged to either force conflict or accept and over pay. Eventually we got it sorted, but it was an overly long, average lunch with an incredible view that took a lot of negotiation. Be careful. read more

Dinner with a group of five friends. The lobster linguini was delicious, not a lot of lobster meat but it was very flavorful. The pear ricotta cake is the best dessert we've had on our Italy trip so far. It was similar to a cheesecake but lighter and more refreshing. I'd recommend going here more during the day hours as I imagine the lemon trees and views from the restaurant would be more appealing! We loved that when we asked what the catch of the day was, our waiter directed us to the fresh fish inside and showed us our options. He even pulled one out for a funny picture, which we all got a kick out of! The food was decent, but I did feel it lacked flavor. Despite the negative reviews my wife and I decided to give them a chance. I think the past reviews are a bit unfair. I think the portion sizes were more than adequate and the food was good. The service was prompt and the view was amazing. The only negative comment I can say is the ants. The ants are not due to unsanitary conditions, they come from the lemon plants. I rarely leave reviews but I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. Growing up in a Sicilian household I am super picky about food. I have had the best homemade food and its hard to beat. Tonight my husband and I walked over from our hotel, and after 9 nights in Italy this restaurant had the best meal we have had since we arrived! We stayed in Praiano for a week and Costa Diva was the loveliest dining experience we had. So much so, we went back on our last night because we knew it would close out our vacation well. It was really special sitting under a lemon grove and watching the sunset along the coastline. It's more of a quiet, calm vibe and string lighting and candles create a soft, romantic ambiance. For people who want to connect, you really can't ask for a better setting. Make a reservation in advance for a two-top table along the railing :) We came for the fish and that's really where we hold high standards. We were very pleased with the selection, freshness and preparation. The sea bass was large enough to split and it was perfect with a simple lemon, garlic sauce. It wasn't available on our second visit, so we tried a saddled bream. It was good, but fell short in comparison to the sea bass. This had nothing to do with the way it was served, but the fish itself. We ordered a shrimp appetizer and were disappointed by the size of the shrimp and quantity (for the price). But it was still good after all and sort of the norm for portion size. Salads were good, veggies and potatoes were good. The bread was slightly stale, and we experienced that in most of the restaurants in Praiano-- still can't get over being served stale bread in Italy! The dessert sampler is a great way to taste a variety of cakes, and everything was delicious. I can see why the food may be a hit or miss in some of these reviews. But, in considering our experiences in the region as a whole, Diva Costa came out on top. It had the most charm, a stunning view, and service was more personal. Phillipe is an absolute joy and largely the reason we had such a memorable time. If he doesn't greet you right away, please ask for him. He is warm, attentive, and always has a smile. He made us feel like family and it was a pleasure getting to know him. He had great food and wine recommendations and made sure we were happy. There's also designated food runners and servers working in conjunction, so each plate arrives timely and it's easy to ask if you need something. After hours of slowly making our way down the Amalfi Coast we found ourselves passing by Costa Diva and immediately knew this is where we were going to get lunch. After walking down a few flights of stairs you walk out into this absolutely beautiful patio overlooking the water and not only is the view nice, but the restaurant is also beautiful. The menu here had a ton of different options from seafood, to pasta, to meats and everything in between. As an appetizer I enjoyed some melon with prosciutto and it was absolutely delicious. The prosciutto was top notch and so was the melon it was covering. My meal was veal cutlets and it was some of the best cutlets I have ever had. It was crispy and had a unique flavour to it that made it hard not to order seconds. The meal came with "French fries" which were basically homemade potato chips and they were crunchy and delicious as well. It Not only was this place beautiful, but it also had incredible food and a very friendly staff. If you find yourself making your way down the coast and in need of some food, please do yourself a favour and pull into Costa Diva, you will not regret it! read more

Lovely setting eating under the lemon grove. We walked in at 9 with no reservation and were seated at a table with a beautiful view of the water and mountains. The breadbasket was full of amazing Croutons. They were hot out of the oven and wonderfully seasoned. We got a bottle of wine - the waiter recommended a local brand that was similar to the one we originally chose (and was the same price) and it was fantastic. The food was good and satisfying! We discovered this place on our hotel grounds, down a path covered in lemon trees. A hidden gem. When you get to the actual place , it's like being in someone's house. Greeted by the owner which was a jolly Italian fellow. Made us start with the house chianti which was great. I had the fish of the day, bass, which our waiter Filipino took out of the display and came with a side of veggies. Ala cart here in Praiano. The view is excellent, but what isn't this is the almalfi coast. I've had bigger fillet's of the "catch of the day" (sea bass which had many prior decent reviews) in a frozen bag of halibut. The lemon flavor was nice but literally a half of a sea bass is 20€ with no other sides? The mixed salad was good because what doesn't taste better with balsamic?! Wife had mixed seafood pasta, and there were plenty of pieces of shells mixed in with every other bite! She didn't finish the plate, which i hear is telling in Italy. I did like the croutons which were brought out as an appetizer so for that as well as the fact I got a reservation for two on Friday night easily (that should've been telling enough) I gave it a two stars, but I would not be back nor recommend this to anyone. read more

We went for a walk to this little place on the hill. The setting is really beautiful among the lemon trees and the view is quite nice. The service was cold and infrequent even by Amalfi coast standards and the dishes were priced a little high. The Seafood Rissoto was very good as was the catch of the day. Our night at Costa Diva started out innocent as we arrived at the restaurant off the main road of Praiano. As we walked down the steps to the restaurant, we were greeted by the quaint smells of sewage. We then continued and were seated under an abundance of beautiful lemons. Little did we know, we would soon order shrimp that were sold whole with little flavor. As we finished our first course, we were greeted by a man who we assumed owned the restaurant and would clear off our plates for the next course. What happened next was horrifying. I had a small piece of bread on my plate which this man grabbed with his bare hands, rubbed it around in the left over shrimp sauce, then forced my friend across the table to eat it. He then continued to grab bread out of our basket, rub it in the sauce, and put it on my plate and then my fork as though I should eat it (fish heads and all). I was in utter shock and said something along the lines of, " I can't believe this is happening". We assumed he was drunk as he was acting insane for a restaurant owner but still did not excuse that behavior. It was the strangest and most uncomfortable dining experience we have ever had and probably will ever have. I lost my appetite soon after that but we did have main courses. This didn't matter as the food was terrible and expensive. This was by far the most bizarre and strange dining experience, ever. It's safe to say that my friend and I went back to our hotel (thankfully we were not staying there) and ordered a pizza. If anyone at the restaurant cares that this occurred, the man was wearing a different outfit than the other workers (striped polo shirt) and blue snap glasses around his neck. read more

This place might have a beautiful view, but is marred by the horrible service. We wanted to stop with our young kids for a quick bite, not a full meal. The waiter hovered over us glaring and the food was passable. They claimed that there is a 35€ limit for credit cards, which is untrue; we've been staying in Praiano for the last few days and no restaurant has put this artificial limit in the week that we've been on the coast and the week in Rome.
