So this is actually an update to a review I actually already wrote a few years ago. I had to purchase another vehicle last year after my vehicle got involved in an accident (driver ran red light and hit me) Bobby and I corresponded several times on the phone about a 2006 lincoln navigator that I really liked, especially the color. But it had a problem with the air bag. I really respected Bobby for literally telling me on the phone, "You know what, I know you like that car, but I cannot sell it to you; it has a problem with the air bag, and it might have other lingering problems......I am will just cut my losses and sell it back to the auction." I really admired Bobby's integrity for that. You do not meet a lot of honest people like that. Fast forward a few months, to June of 2021, and I actually was approved for a Honda crv. That thing was loaded, but my mother and I called it the lemon lime machine haha. If only the color was silver or black.....darn! But long ho, there were two other beauties on the lot, and guess what? Bobby was able to get me approved for either vehicle. I ended up taking the 2014 Buick Enclave. The rave reviews from my friends, and mom about the car. It is a beauty. It works really well. It is so confortable and runs really smooth. So I wanted to add this review on top of the one I initiallly wrote back in 2018, when I bought a midnight blue lincoln navigator from Bobby. I live in Alameda, which is nearly 100 miles away. But it is worth the drive, considering how kind he is to me, and would be willing to come again, if something does come along. The paper work, warranties, logistics are pretty much up front, straight forward. And he does ask us to take the vehicle for a spin before we initally sign the contract. I don't usually go out of my way to leave a review good or bad but I have to stop what I'm doing and leave a review this time around for everyone else's sake. We purchased a lexus 18 months ago. When we test drove it I've noticed a wheel bearing noise. He had "his mechanic" look at it and said everything checks out fine. Ended up being both front bearings roughly $1,200 fix. What's worse, on the day we purchased it, the dash board lit up with lights. It's been a 18 month journey to clear them and thousands spent with no results. Not sure how they where able to smog it. It's been a nightmare. Please avoid this place at all cost. Owner is your typical sells person that lies through his teeth. I also don't usually do reviews... I bought a 2017 F-150 from Cost Less. Dylan, the salesman, was great to work with and made the process easy. Two days after the purchase the transmission began acting up. Bobby, the owner had me bring it in and he took it to his fleet mechanic. Bobby said they were not in the business of selling trucks that had transmissions fail two days after sales. It had driven fine for me on the test drive and had no issues for Bobby when he drove it on the track at auction. Bobby wasn't satisfied with the diagnosis/solution (transmission program update) so he brought it to a transmission shop he'd brought his own truck to for a second opinion. In the end, Bobby split the cost of a fully rebuilt transmission with me and I drove away with a new transmission from a reputable shop and very satisfied with the deal. That was six months ago. I'll go back to Cost Less Auto for my next truck. read more

I came here from Reno because my bank is California based and that's how I got my loan. I came to look at a Subaru but wasn't entirely sold on it after I test drove it so I test drove a Rav4. While I was thinking about it the owner brought me in to tell me about another car they just got in that was newer, nicer, and had less miles that was still within my budget. He told me he would feel much better about selling me that car rather than the rav4 because of how many miles were on it. My family and I were looking for a truck and we contacted Cost Less regarding a truck we saw advertised on the website. Bobby Scott invited us down to take a look. Upon arrival, the business was clean and welcoming. My family and I were given the keys to the truck we were interested in and had ample time to look in and around the vehicle without any sales pressure. I climbed underneath and opened the hood and felt comfortable checking the vehicle out. We returned to the office and Bobby pulled the vehicle out so we could take it for a test drive. We were given the keys after exchanging information and were given a basic route to follow along with the opportunity to test drive it without the salesperson accompanying us. We spent 20 minutes testing it out. We returned and Mr Scott gave us some insight on that type of engine and things to look for when purchasing a diesel truck. The salesman was very knowledgeable. We had some other appointments scheduled so we shook hands and proceeded to our other appointments. After a day of searching we returned to purchase the vehicle and were told that another party was just there and Mr Scott had promised them to temporarily hold the vehicle while they returned with their financing information. Mr Scott said he would call us if the sale fell through. Late the next morning Bobby called and said the buyer had not returned so he was calling us back to let us know the truck was available. I appreciated that he kept his word. I let him know that we were interested but both my wife and I were at work so we couldn't return until the evening. He said they were closing early that day to go purchase some new vehicles. I said we would drop in the next day to work on closing the sale. Unfortunately, someone stopped in later that day and purchased the vehicle. Although I was disappointed the timing didn't work out, I did appreciate that Bobby Scott was honest and true to his word for all the interested buyers. My only criticism is that I attempted to call the office on a few occasions and always had to leave a message without being able to speak with someone. I attribute this to the fact it is a small family owned business and the salesman are often busy working with clients or are on the lot. I have been in the market for a truck recently and found one at this dealer for an okay price online and went last Saturday to check it out. At first everything seemed great and the people seemed very friendly. They gave me the keys and let me examine the vehicle, and I liked what I saw, so I asked to test drive it to ensure it drives well before I determined if I wanted it. When I gave the guy (I think his name was Bill) my ID for the test drive he immediately asked me how I am going to pay for it. I was confused because I hadn't even test driven it yet. He then handed my ID back and REFUSED to let me take a test drive unless I intended to purchase it beforehand citing "$5 to $6 gas prices" and "putting unnecessary wear on the vehicle from just letting people test drive it all day" and then proceeded to tell me to "just look online and see that we are a 5 star dealer and rest assured that out cars drive like they're supposed to." This truck has over 155 THOUSAND miles on it and I'm just supposed to drop $26,000 dollars without driving it because you want to save the few bucks in gas it would take for me to drive the damn thing for 10 minutes!? Seriously!? NOBODY in their right mind would even think of buying an as-is vehicle before test driving it! I get that fuel is not cheap (though what he said was kind of exaggerated), but that expense is still part of doing business in the car world. Also, "unnecessary wear" is concerning too. Do you have so little faith in the longevity of this vehicle that an extra 10 miles a day is going to put it in the local wrecking yard? Why should I just trust the "fact" that you're a "5 star dealer" as sole proof that the truck drives like it is supposed to? All in all, the entire encounter was very odd, and unusually rushed. It felt very much like the staff didn't want anything to do with me unless I wanted to buy the truck on the spot. Maybe their reaction stemmed from the fact that I am young and look quite young for my age and they figured I was a foolish kid who just wanted a joyride or something; either that or they're truly hiding something about the vehicle. read more

I had been searching the internet for a used Honda Ridgeline. The one that best fit my bill was located here, at Cost Less Auto. We made that our first stop on our car shopping day. We got a great car at a great price. After dealing with the BMW dealership in rocklin our standards had plunged in terms of the car buying experience. I didn't have much better hopes when I pulled into this place. But I was wrong. I busted in and said give me the key to the car I wanted. There was a real friendly black lab "guarding" nothing. The sales guy was on the phone and handed me the key. I went out and checked out the interior and the options. It had what we wanted and was priced well. I tried to negotiate the price down further but was unable to do so. Bill said that it was the cheapest priced car for that make and model for over 100 miles. After spending most of the day at the dealership the day before and doing extensive research I knew he was right. I hate that by the way when the salesperson is right. Kind of takes away a little negotiating on my end. Anyways we were in and out in less than 45 minutes. He even let us take the car to drop off the rental that we had. Because the rental place closed in less than 15 minutes. Overall it was a good experience. He said that he got a good vibe from us and on our way home back to SF the wife and I agreed that we had a real good vibe from him as well. It was just a real deal good experience. I didn't catch the dogs name though. The most ironic part about our car buying experience is that we were willing to pay the same price for a car that was a year older at the dealership with about 10k more miles and they told us to basically pound dirt. So we walked out. Best decision we made. Anyway bottom line. These guys are FAIR. I felt like I was talking to a FRIEND, or like maybe just someone who was HONEST. I've never bought a car in rocklin before and might not again but I will tell you if I need to I might even make the trip up there if they had the car I wanted. I wouldn't purchase a car from these guys again! Bill is the only semi decent person there and really do not understand why he is working for that CUT rate car lot to say the least. I purchased a Escalade there that had low miles and seemed to be a good SUV which it is now.. but many dollar$$ latter a few weeks after the purchase from cost less.. I mean COST MORE sighhh.. They gave me a okay value on my trade in 2000 Escalade 150k which is still on there lot for sale. I highly doubt they put more than $300 bucks into that money pit considering it needed over 3k worth of parts and labor stemming from a blown transfer case too faulty fuel injection/spider injectors, ignition problems and a whole lot more. After traveling back in forth from Rockin to the Tahoe area only because the day I went home with the car, I woke up the next morning to an oil puddle in my garage. I contacted CoSt MoRe and they said we will take care of it bring it back in. I spent the day and evening in Rockin at a mechanic shop that there partners with and that they referred me too. The shop found more problems with the car and suggested I fix it so I did assuming cost less would cover. COST MORE.. after arguing with them for more than an hour agreed to pay for half of the shop bill, which ended up being a couple hundred bucks for valve gaskets and coolant lines etc. Few days latter while driving I noticed a grinding sound in my front driver side wheel. After taking to a few shops they finally discovered the problem, which happened to be bad carrier bearings in the front differential. Gee that ended up being a $1000k rebuild just made my month with that one guys :) My advice based upon from what I experienced purchasing from this junk yard of washed detailed cars is.. if you EVEN consider a car from here take it to a shop out of the Rocklin area and have it inspected by a real deal mechanic for a few bucks and go from there. read more

Also, after driving the car back to Reno and having my mechanic check it over, I found that the breaks were completely worn down. They didn't squeak because the sensor had been cut!
