There's info placed on each of the car windows with the buyers info on the cars mileage, make, model, price, sellers info, number for each car where buyer can give attendant key # to inspect the car. I saw a car I liked and contacted seller on Saturday and we set up a time to meet and test drive the car the following day, Sunday. The test drive went well, excellent carfax report, and car in good condition. I was pleased at the seamless process as I was apprehensive, but I was sold, literally. The funny thing is the guy that bought it was from a dealership. Doesn't matter though, money is money. You know, used car shopping can be challenging in general. Sierra Auto Fair seems to be a convenient and overall organized car buying/selling experience. We went to the venue to look at cars and there was essentially 1-2 large full lots of cars, as well as other items such as boats and RVs. As a Millennial used to the vast inventory of an online experience, I felt the Sierra Auto Fair had more limited inventory and prices were also not screaming deals (probably fairly priced overall). It also took some effort to get attendants to get keys for a test drive (have to physically hail someone down). In addition, as the venue is in an outdoor parking lot, I can imagine it can get HOT in the summer as there is limited to no shade. Overall, worth a visit! read more

Got a email Saturday morning from a guy that wanted to test drive it. We set our meeting for Sunday morning because I was currently out of town. It costs $150 to get yourself a parking spot, but I found it to be well worth it. I arrived on Friday afternoon after 4:30pm and there were plenty of spots. Someone showed interest as I was parking and wanted to know my "lowest price" right away. My advice: either tell them you are waiting for tomorrow as there may be multiple offers or... ask THEM, "make me an offer" before you even discuss what your lowest price might be. The person who bought my truck gave me a down payment on Sunday and the auto fair had a for for the transaction. We completed the money exchange on Monday. Back in 2018 I was in desperate need of a car as my last one had died on me unexpectedly, and I only had a few thousand dollars to put towards this cause. I went to the Sierra Auto Fair with honestly fairly low expectations because I had never been there before and with such a low budget I wasn't thinking I would be able to get anything nice. However, I came across a 2006 Toyota Corolla, which was being sold by the original owner. The mileage was high but the previous owner had taken very good care of it and it was in pristine condition for what it was. I was able to buy it for a modest price within my budget, and my plan was that I would only hold onto the car for a year or two until I could save up more and buy something a little nicer. I ended up holding onto the Corolla for 5 years, purely because it was such a great car. It never gave me any crazy trouble, and both the transmission and engine stayed in good condition the entire time I owned it. The car was a great commuter car and, since it was a manual, I had a lot of fun driving it. Last week the time came for me to put the Corolla back on the market, and I knew the *only* way to do it was to do it at the Sierra Auto Fair. Not only had I had such great luck here before, but by this point many of my friends and family members had as well. The registration process was very easy, and I highly recommend that everyone pre-register online as it is cheaper and easier to do so then in person. I brought my beloved Corolla to the Auto Fair with modest expectations, since I knew that it had been a few years, racked up some more miles, and not many people drive manual anymore. I was expecting that it would take a few days, possibly even a few weeks, to sell the car at a reasonable price. However, I had multiple buyers asking me about the car before I even had the chance to park! I ended up being able to sell the car to a cash buyer who paid full price in under an hour! If I hadn't gone to the Sierra Auto Fair, none of my story would have been possible - I wouldn't have found such a great car back in my time of need, and I also wouldn't have been able to sell the car again in under an hour for asking price, only a few hundred dollars less than what I bought it for. I was reluctant to sale my car because it's a 2002 and people want newer cars. I didn't think people would be interested. I didn't get there until around 9:30 pm Friday night to drop it off for the weekend. They close at 10:00 pm. As I was driving and looking for the lot, one person pointed at my car and said he wanted it and another person followed me, walking next to me until I stopped. He offered to buy it and wasn't going to take no for an answer. At the time all I could think of was that I was supposed to find the place to check in. I never did check in or stay because I sold it before I was able to park it for display. He had cash and like the website claims, people who come there are there to buy a car, not just look around. Simple concept of private owners offering their vehicles for sale at the college on weekends, with a pleasant and safe atmosphere along with exposure to hundreds of potential buyers that visit the Auto Fair. Sellers can register on-line before taking their vehicle to the college. Makes the check-in simple and quick. Open on Friday evening as well as Saturday and Sunday for potential buyers to inspect the vehicles offered. This is a very pleasant way to look at used cars and trucks without any pressure, giving you plenty of opportunity to compare price and condition of the vehicles. Many cars now have in addition to the details of price, condition, mileage, etc., the print out of the Kelley Blue Book so you can quickly compare the price being asked to the latest Blue Book value. Of course you can also quickly check the Blue Book on a smart phone while you are strolling the lot. The cars I have been looking at have been priced at the lower end of the book value, making them a good deal for their apparent condition and mileage. My only thought to buyers is to be sure that you verify the value of any vehicle before making a commitment. Check the current Blue Book value if it is not listed on the window of the car you are interested in. I have noticed each week that there are always a very few cars seemingly way overpriced that shouldn't sell if the potential buyer is aware of their true value, but for the vast majority of the cars, they are priced very competitively. There are always a few that are real bargains, too, and go quickly. Compared to dealers lots, most of the cars are somewhat value priced in that they reflect a private party selling price rather than a dealer retail. Sellers who do not sell their vehicle within three weekends are given three weekends free. The $44 weekend package fee for sellers goes directly to funding for various activities at Sierra College, another plus in that we are helping our community college by patronizing the Auto Fair. Great staff to work with as you prepare your car for viewing and the sale. A fun and safe atmosphere as you stroll the lot. I have purchased one car from Sierra Auto Fair and was very happy with the overall experience. So much more enjoyable than having to follow up on a Craigslist or Autotrader ad. I'm currently looking for another vehicle and my focus is on finding the car here. Based on the reviews posted by Sierra Auto Fair on their website, touting sales occurring within hours, days or at most 2-3 weekends I decided to list and display my my pop-up camping trailer with them. I paid the approx. $149 fee for multi-weekend display opportunities and showing my trailer on weekend #1, going through the automated process, which was confusing with very little to no human help on getting the paperwork taped to the trailer properly and dropping off the keys, in a tube, - a bit confusing the first time. After weekend #1 I received no phone calls- at all. Weekend #2 again no phone calls or inquiries. At this point I thought I would list the trailer on Craigslist too, posting an ad on Thursday, one day before I dropped off my trailer at Sierra Auto Fair for the 3rd weekend. I received 2 phone calls from my $5 Craiglist ad, with one couple wanting to see the trailer on Saturday, making the drive from Chico to Rocklin. I had the couple meet meet me at Sierra where the trailer was on display, showed it to them and sold it on the spot, packing up and leaving Sierra Auto Fair without a single phone call and out the $149 fee. Craigslist delivered an expanded audience looking for the specific trailer I was selling for an immediate result. Sierra Auto Fair maybe better for cars, buy they are not honest in the results they list on their site. They should be more balanced in their "testimonials". I for one never even received a single phone call, and it was a lot of work to set up and break-down my trailer every weekend, delivering paid inventory for their Fair without any results. read more

Fun place to walk around! While in the market to buy a used car, we've scoured Craigslist and visited dealerships. But at the Sierra Auto Fair (located at the Sierra College parking lot), you can walk around and browse vehicles in person! If you find a car that interests you, you can contact the seller (info posted on each car). We usually just take photos of the car from different angles, as well as photos of the contact info and vehicle features. I think it costs sellers $50 to feature their car at the fair. It's free for buyers, and there's plenty of parking. Tons of boats, RV's, motorcycles and cars. Luxury vehicles, sports cars, daily commuters, you name it. It's nice to browse such a wide selection of cars of all prices and mileage, and not have pushy salesmen around giving you pressure. We have noticed that some of the cars at the fair aren't very presentable. You'd think that if you were trying to sell your car, you'd at least take it through the car wash, right? We've also noticed that the cars are priced pretty high (above Kelley Blue Book value). But I assume prices are open to negotiation. I'd probably do the same thing if I was the seller--you never know who might fall in love with your car and pay your asking price, right? As a buyer, I'd do some research and get KBB, Edmunds and NADA values and have that in your arsenal when negotiating with the seller. I kinda wish they put like vehicles together (all sports cars in one section, all makes together, all sedans together), but I guess it's hard to predict what cars will show up each weekend. Yet, given their huge parking lot, it could be done with some planning. But I guess it gives sellers the freedom to park where they like. And I need the steps anyways. Haven't found our perfect car yet so we will continue to visit Sierra Auto Fair on weekends. This was my first time selling my car at Sierra Auto Fair and I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the entire process went. I personally hate having to deal with a ton of logistics but being able to quickly register online made it really easy. When you check-in, you quickly scan the barcode and are conveniently given the papers and tape you need. When it came to selling my car, I couldn't believe how quickly I started getting calls/offers. Before 10 am I had my first offer right at the asking price (just below the top of KBB value). We scheduled a test drive for an hour later and 15 minutes after that I had sold the car. On my way to the test drive, I received another call from an interested buyer. And while taking my car out of the lot, I talked with another interested buyer who was ready to test drive if I didn't sell. Sold my car in less than 4 hours! The local car dealers only offered me $5000 for my super-clean BMW as a trade-in... but I knew the street value was much higher! I spent an hour doing some research online, created a Sierra Auto Fair account, wrote a simple ad, and priced it competitively. Washed my car, drove it over Friday at 5pm, and before lunch on Saturday morning I got two texts and sold it... for DOUBLE what the dealer was offering. The buyers appreciated receiving all my service records and extra floor mats that I gave them (that the dealer couldn't care less about) and they drove away happy with their purchase, financed through their local credit union -- who handled all the DMV stuff too. Sold our car in 10 mins. Yes we saw a post similar to this and didn't believe it. But it is true! It was very easy to complete the online information on their website. We arrived on Sat at 1:00pm to drop off the car, thinking we were too late in the day for the weekend, we didn't make it home before we received a call from a buyer who wanted to test drive the car. Craigslist: 6 weeks, no calls, no emails. Sierra Auto Fair: 3 hours, 1 call, Sold. Could not be simpler. I chose to register my car online before taking the car to Sierra Auto Fair (southeast parking lot of Sierra College at Rocklin Rd & Sierra College Blvd). Registered all the pertinent details about the car. Drove the car to the lot at 6:30pm on Friday evening. At 6:30pm, the selling cars were on their way in. The self check-in station is a breeze. Having registered online, I enter my code (found in my email receipt) in the self-service kiosk. The documents necessary to tape to the passenger window printed along with a sticker to place on the provided key ring. All less than 1 minute. Taped the stuff to the window and dropped the keys in the key secure key box. Done. Lot opened at about 8:00am (but browsers can walk about but not have access to any staff members to obtain and be escorted with keys). Buyers can look at cars and with escort of an attendant, they can open the doors, see the inside and start the engine. Test drives only with the registered seller present. 10:30am on Saturday I get a call. On site by 10:50am. Sold with cash in hand by 11:00am. Paper work complete and we head out to get lunch. Done. Craigslist: 6 weeks, no calls, no emails. Sierra Auto Fair: 3 hours, 1 call, Sold. All for $39.00 - totally worth it !!! read more

Like clockwork! I was selling one of my motorcycles and decided to try Sierra before Craigslist. Worked out very well. Registered and paid online. Fees were very reasonable for what they provide. Pulled the bike up around 6 on Fri. A guy was asking me about the bike as I was getting off it. I answered a few questions and went to get the sale flyers and contact info to put on the bike. Check in at the automatic kiosk was easy. Walked back to the bike to put the flyers on it and sold it to the guy asking the questions. He must have seen the ad Sierra puts on Craiglist and been waiting. I know the sale was unusually fast, but the whole process was very well set up.
