For a buffet there are like no options and what they do have there's not much of. The sushi they have is more of a cream cheese rice roll and that's it. And some of the chicken was raw still. This place isn't as good as it was when it opened years ago. It has slowly declined after the original owner left. I still eat there occasionally as it is nearby and fast. The food is standard cheap and cheerful Chinese fare. They've got a few items for kids, like cheese pizza and chicken nuggets. The thing I really dislike is that it just isn't terribly clean. The tile floor is often slippery, and everything else feels sticky. The staff are reasonably friendly, but you have to flag them down sometimes to get a drink refill. This place is absolutely amazing. The staff is very attentive and we go so often that the waitress knows our drink order. I find this very personable of them. When we go the tables are always clean and the waitress is very good about quick cleanup. The food is decent quality and The price is fair for a Buffett. I definitely recommend. read more

Having patronized this establishment for many years, I am very sad to say my more recent experiences have been increasingly poor. We go here for dinner take-out. Recently, the size of the take-out container has been reduced from "dinner-size" to "lunch-size." At first, we thought perhaps they has run out of "dinner-sized" containers, but that is not the case. Of course, the price did not go down to match the smaller size. A visit within the last two days was very disheartening in that the selection of foods was even smaller than the last time we visited! Also, this time, every food we selected had obviously been out in the bin too long, as all of it was dried out, tough and tasteless. Perhaps there was a reason that there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant when we arrived, and no one came in while we were there! If they continue with this poor quality of food, I doubt they will be in business very long, I am sad to say! read more

The staff was rude and unfriendly. I've never seen such an angry woman in my life! Food was not fresh. Some trays were empty, I had to ask to refill them and had to wait for indefinite time. I waited for chicken wings for 30 min and chicken wings still were not there when I left the restaurant. Certain advertised foods were not there (shrimps, sushi). I only go to this place because my son LOVES this place, and of course because he lives nearby. We went last year and I didn't bother with a review because I thought it was mediocre, but this time was much different I was actually pretty satisfied with the overall visit. The staff was friendly and the food was decent. I think if you take into consideration the location and the prices it matches the quality of the food. The Crab-Rangoon's are the only thing good about this palace,the food is not fresh and the egg rolls are filled with mostly cabbage,barely any meat if there is any. The chicken had barely any chicken and was mostly crispy breading and the other imitation crab with cheese made me gag. 10$ could get you something better in Cortland. I was in the buffet just yesterday. when i walked in the place was empty. the food was cold hard and unable to eat . I went there just an hour before there dinner hour. they kept sweeping around us while we were eating. the staff was rude and unfriendly. they even watch"ed what you were taking from the buffet . They also told us what we could take from the food as so we didn't take any of the dinner items.. The manager was more interested in her phone rather than taking care of the customers and when leaving to pay you had to wait till she decided she was ready to take your money due to her texting on her phone. The "Hostess" was horrible. Never met such an angry, trifling, woman in my life. We were a party of four - a gentleman in his seventies, a lady in her forties, another lady in her late fifties, and a DISABLED 10 year old girl with cerebral palsy who was wheelchair bound. A discount was not offered for the senior, nor for the child. When paying the bill, the discounts needed to be asked for. The hostess was nasty and angry. The senior needed to show his license, and she did not give a discount for the child, although the birthdate was clearly given. She argued, stating the child was fifteen. Argued bitterly - OVER A FIFTY CENT DISCOUNT. Accused the mother of lying. Horrible and nasty. Will never eat there again. read more

This business has gone completely downhill from when it first opened. What was once a clean interior with an attentive, and courteous staff, is now a run down hive of carelessness, and disappointment. Part of the problem is the indifferent, and clueless staff who are absolutely just going through the motions of their job, while the other side of the problem is the appalling conduct by a sizeable amount of the customers eating here. I'm talking about dirty people with either no clue or concern for the basics of being in public. Eating off of their plates while still in line, licking their fingers or coughing into their hands, then touching the shared serving utensils. Unattended little kids doing the same. Coming and going in whatever direction they please so that there is no organized flow to line whatsoever. The bottom line here is that certain advertised foods like crablegs are refilled VERY rarely, and of extremely poor quality when they are available (overcooked, waterlogged, mushy, etc.), and the Mongolian grill area has meat that is dried out & discolored from sitting out so long, veggies that are browning on the edges, and takes forever to get someone to come over to cook your food. That kind of atmosphere is the opposite of user-friendly, and a giant turn off. YET, they have no problem charging you full price even though they often fail to provide everything they claim to offer. I believe this is the result of all the other buffets in town closing, and Cortland Buffet having no competition to worry about. Stay away! read more

Regretfully, the owners have had some unfortunate turn of events. Prior to their difficulties a few years ago, they had a great kitchen staff -- the food was outstanding for a buffet. They added Coconut Chicken during the Lunch Buffet!! It is fantastic my only wish is that they would keep it better stocked. If it runs out it takes almost an hour for them to replenish it and although its amazing its not worth waiting an hour amazing. Buuuuut if your one of the people fortunate to get some on your plate before it runs out you are very lucky because it is incredible! :) That being said though if you happen to go during the lunch hours the rest of the food is also incredible I definitely prefer it to the dinner options and everything is fresh and flavorful! It has improved drastically over the last few months and if you go at the right time of day (weekdays - anytime from 11:30am to 1:30pm) the buffet is the best Chinese buffet I've ever been to. read more

Not recommended. I feel it necessary to say something positive first. The seafood bake was tasty and the jello was good. The rest was unpleasant. The egg rolls were soggy. All of the chickens dishes were either difficult to chew or soggy. The rice was hard. All of the foods seemed to be heated very quickly from frozen foods. Food was decent but the staff wasn't. When I asked for a small adjustment to my check because they charged adult price for my 10 year old they accused me of lying, and quizzed me on her birth date. Then we couldn't eat because it was dinner time my daughter didn't eat because of the lady putting food out. Have been going here each week for a long time. Last week took a special needs friend for lunch, he requested a doggie bag to take his left overs. After giving him a box they tried to charge an extra 7 dollars. Upon disputing this the manager proceeded to dump his food back on his plate missing it completely, then they refused to clean it up. The food is mediocre, the service has been lacking. So after this treatment of a person who could not even defend themselves they have lost my business.
