Plate of Pork Lo Mein, veggie fried rice, garlic pork, sesame chicken, and crab Rangoon. - The image shows a plate of Asian cuisine featuring white rice topped with broccoli and chicken in sauce, stir-fried noodles with vegetables, fried rice with mixed vegetables, and fried wontons. The food is arranged on a gray plate, highlighting a variety of textures and flavors typical of Chinese or Asian-inspired dishes.

I like this place a lot as an option for Chinese take out! Whenever I have ordered from here (probably over 10 times in the span of the few years living in ithaca), the order is ready quickly and pretty cheap. The staff is friendly and efficient. I'm all for greasy, filling take out and this is definitely a spot for that. Big menu, I've tried a couple things but usually always have the lo mein and crab Rangoons on the order. Yum!!!

Late night takeout that hit the spot. The combos are hard to beat. I didn't care for the egg drop soup (wish I had gotten wonton instead) but the vegetable fried rice was nice and light. The general Tso's chicken seemed like it was mostly breading thougand it was particularly heavy on the sauce, not my favorite but I wouldn't mind having it again.

Compared to many of the Chinese places in Ithaca, this is by far my favorite. I've only eaten here twice, but both times I'm thoroughly impressed with the flavor and quality. I've ordered the Singapore Mei Fun and General Tso's Combination, the latter you see in the photo. Both actually had a bit of heat, which is always lacking at the other places I go to.

    V9. Sesame Bean Curd yo

This is my 3rd time ordering from Jades and it's delicious each time! I live in Chicago and visit here once a month and sometimes I'm back home thinking "omg I would love some Jades right now" I always get the Sesame Bean Curd and the Broccoli In garlic sauce. Those 2 are such a good combo! The garlic sauce they have is so tasty and the broccoli goes so well with it. Will always go to Jades to satisfy my Chinese food cravings!

I've had brunch, lunch, and dinner at MIX, and all with varying levels of enjoyment. My recent…read morebrunch experience included ordering a Where the West Begins omelette, which includes "Braised short rib, butternut squash, red onion jam, spinach, smoked gouda". I wasn't sure how to feel about butternut squash with everything else (I'm not necessarily a huge squash fan - but I'm trying to learn to enjoy it), but the omelette was decent... it's the other side on my plate that looked less than appetizing. The biscuit was still covered in flour (and who wants to bite down on a clump of flour?), the cheddar hashbrown casserole lacked in flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon oatmeal just... wasn't doin' it for me. Other recent experiences have been similar... there's usually one item on the plate that's flavorful or imventive (sometimes a main dish, sometimes a side), and the other parts of the plate are lacking. In reality, I think MIX is suffering a bit from rising food costs and inconsistency in their service and offerings. They've also changed the style of their menu from the original tapas-style to now being more typical entree options. Again... they've lost some of their innovative, experimental approach. In terms of ambiance, it really depends. I've been here for a work event and, because of the number of people, it was SO LOUD... they had also done a buffet offering for the event. As you can imagine, the food from the buffet was lacking, but that's often what happens when you're more mass producing your food (and it's left in a chafing dish, trying to be kept warm). On the other hand, I've been here for a dinner on a random night and was able to enjoy one of their Thai noodle bowls (and split some other apps with friends). The reality is that experiences at MIX are... well... a mix. Whether service, menu offerings, etc., I've found MIX's recent inconsistencies to be a disappointment. Will probably only visit in the future if it's suggested by others.

For 57 reviews on our website it has received 4 of 5 stars average. They are always able to accommodate our group whether we have 2 people or 25. Our average group size is 10 people. They are always prepared and set up for us. They leave water pitchers on table for us. They give us all separate checks & never mix up customers or our dishes. The Chinese Food is as good as any other typical Chinese Food. The Sushi is usually very creatively plated and exceptional in taste. The Staff has always been extremely polite, even when some of our group have on a handful of occasions been a bit loud. We have many discussions and staff is not the type to eavesdrop or put in their 2 cents. The prices for the Chinese Food are very reasonable and they have very reasonable priced "Combos". In all the years there was only one time ever where the food was sketchy. The main reason we go is the place is usually quiet and good acoustics to hear each other chat. Also because the staff is so helpful and pleasant. They even allow those on a diet to order BROWN RICE and most dishes steamed with sauce on the side. Very important for whole grains and diets to find a place with Brown Rice option. I admit I got bored with the Chinese food 2x month and very glad they now have Japanse Options as well. Budget minded will find great choices on the Chinese Menu.
