I like this place a lot as an option for Chinese take out! Whenever I have ordered from here (probably over 10 times in the span of the few years living in ithaca), the order is ready quickly and pretty cheap. The staff is friendly and efficient. Late night takeout that hit the spot. The combos are hard to beat. I didn't care for the egg drop soup (wish I had gotten wonton instead) but the vegetable fried rice was nice and light. The general Tso's chicken seemed like it was mostly breading thougand it was particularly heavy on the sauce, not my favorite but I wouldn't mind having it again. read more

I see all these four and five star reviews and I'm left confused. I placed a takeout order. The General Tso's chicken was chewy and doughy. Undercooked and rather bland. I ordered Crab Rangoon and it was undercooked to the point of being inedible. I fried it again at home but couldn't resurrect it. The rice was fine. When I picked up my order the restaurant was busy and people were seated inside. This might have been a one off issue but I won't gamble on trying it again. read more

Compared to many of the Chinese places in Ithaca, this is by far my favorite. I've only eaten here twice, but both times I'm thoroughly impressed with the flavor and quality. Great COVID protocols, quick service, nice late hours, & steaming hot food. We needed a quick dinner the other night & spotted that this was open for take out. I appreciated the window ordering set up here & staff was attentive & got our order out within 15 minutes. Offerings are pretty standard but with more variety than I see some places; I got the beef in oyster sauce (which isn't super common ime) & it hit the spot - fresh steamed broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, & onion in the yummy caramelized umami oyster sauce next to a good portion of well cooked white rice. I am writing this review after reviewing another Ithacan Chinese Restaurant, Capital Corner. I give this restaurant a great review on the relative scale, so I shall write another review upon future experiences. I have only eaten food from here once. After a terrible experience with the food I ordered for delivery from Capital Corner not arriving, I decided to order from Jade Garden on Campusfood.com. Despite the stated 60 minute estimated delivery time, the food arrived in 30 minutes, which was great because I was very hungry! Great value on the food, large portions, and good Chinese takeout! My boyfriend ordered the Sesame Chicken, which he gets from each Chinese restaurant he orders from. It was good, not greasy, with a really sweet sauce. There was way too much sauce, however. I ordered a dish with mixed vegetables and chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp. The meat was tender, and there was a nice variety of vegetables as well. There were green bell peppers in the dish, which I don't usually see in Chinese food, and I just picked around them because I don't like them. Oh yes, and we were able to substitute brown rice for white rice at no extra charge. Good stuff. No complaints about this restaurant. Horrible is actually a compliment. This was the worst Chinese food I ever tasted. The meat (chicken and beef) was dry and had a disgusting aftertaste. The shrimp was rubbery and the vegetables had no flavor. The egg-rolls were just flaky dough. Even the fortune cookies were stale. First off, I would not come here for authentic Chinese food. Period. The place was empty when we arrived, and the atmosphere was... bleh. The server was kind and helpful, but that doesn't help with the quality of the food. We ordered 5 dishes, family style: - Lemon chicken - Seaseme chicken - Shrimp with lobster sauce - Schezuan beef - Some vegetable dish with garlic sauce Edible, but not up to par. I also had to clarify to the waiter that we wanted rice, which did not come in a big bowl (which I was surprised)--and it came much later after all the dishes had been served. Meh. Their food sent 2 girls to the hospital due to allergic reactions to peanuts. When we called (multiple times) jade garden repeatedly stated there was no peanut in the lo mein, when there obviously was as 2 girls with severe peanut allergies had reactions. Unacceptable and caused immense distress (and medica bills) for everyone involved. read more

The good: Delivery was fast and hot and the fee was low, which I always appreciate. And oh, those fried dumplings. A slice of heaven! The vegetable egg roll that came with the combo platter was also delicious. And the coconut shrimp was great! The bad: The fried rice was mediocre at best. Although the pork bits tasted good, the rice was far too bland. Kinda mushy, not enough soy sauce maybe? And not enough vegetables, in my opinion... taking off one star for that. Service is fast and relatively friendly, and the food is great if you know what to order. I usually get the honey chicken, which is consistently good. I've gotten coconut shrimp a few times, but it's hit or miss. For delivery, they are extremely fast. Grubhub says it'll take 60 minutes, but it's usually only 20-30. Okay, I tried this a long while back and thought it was awful. Didn't have the guts to try again for 4 YEARS. Someone recently told me they thought it was good (admittedly, their opinion counts very little)... well, I was hungry, so I tried it. I picked it up 5 minutes after ordering (already a little concerning) Well... AWFUL! I ordered General Tso's chicken "chef's specialty" and Shrimp Lo Mein. I asked for both spicy. Result: General Tso's chicken is not even a little crispy, it is slimy. Flavor acceptable, but texture incredibly bad. Lo Mein tastes OVERWHELMINGLY of garlic and nothing else. It is the worst Lo Mein I've ever had, and I've eaten other Chinese food in Ithaca (which is mostly bad) so that's saying a lot. And, to top it all off... after asking 3 times before hanging up, NEITHER DISH WAS SPICY. I will never order here again. I suggest you do the same. After eating at Capital Corner for years, I decided to try something new. I am sorry I did not try Jade Garden sooner! Everything about my experience was infinitely better than with Capital Corner. Jade Garden's food is wonderful. I have tried their crab Rangoon, hot and sour soup (so spicy and good!) General Tso's Chicken, beef and mushroom, and vegetable fried rice. I ordered delivery to my work, it's a holiday so I was happy that they were open. They have a 20 dollar min. For delivery, which I hate since there is a delivery fee anyways. And $20 is on the high side for Chinese if your weigh under 300 pounds. They were 15 minutes later than the 45 minutes they said, so it took an hour. There was no sauce for the egg rolls, no silverware, no napkins. The food tastes good but I wish I had something to eat it with... Honestly I can't even enjoy this food right now because I'm so disgusted with the service. read more

This might be the worst Chinese restaurant in Ithaca, and thats hard to accomplish because most of them are so bad. There is nothing exciting on their menu so I went with the standard chicken and Brocoli. The chicken and brocoli I make at home is far better, and I have no experience in Chinese cooking. Wasn't too sure about this place, it looked empty. Then I realized it is because everyone either takes carryout and takes advantage of the awesome $1 delivery charge here! We had two orders of General Tso's chicken with an egg roll and fried rice combo (7.95 each) it was more than us girls could eat but just the right size for a guy probably. The food wasn't greasy and we threw the leftovers in the garbage of our hotel room thinking the next day the whole room would smell like chinese food, but it never happened! Very good! read more
