Asia Cuisine offers some of the most delicious foods in Ithaca. On Friday, we went to Asia Cuisine. Long line builds up quickly in front of the restaurant. Asia Cuisine checks all the boxes for a terrific dining experience: Food: tastes perfect. Service: Outstanding Wait time: Customers love this place. The wait time ranges from 10-15 minutes Restaurant space: Cozy, warm and intimate. During the hectic Friday evening, the staff members work together to make it what appears to be effortless service. Being aficionados of Japanese food, we order the bento boxes. My order comes with jop jae, tempura vegetables, brown rice, vegetable sushi, 2 tempura shrimp, and tofu. Fabulous flavors. Joseph orders the beef bento box. He says it tastes fine. When in Ithaca, stop by at Asia Cuisine. Bring friends, dates, and family.

I had the Sam Sun Jjam Bong and it was delicious! The broth has a seafood umami savoriness and has a slight kick (not too spicy for me tho)! The vegetables were fresh and cooked to the point where they still have a satisfying bite to them and the shrimp were also very well cooked! Most of the time I order this dish at other places, the seafood is overcooked but I thought the shrimp had great texture! As soon as we came in, our waitress greeted us and she gave us a table for 5 right away and she got us ice waters immediately. She was kind and had a warm smile :)

I visited with friends, and I'll admit -- those neon lights? Total vibe. They set the tone for a night of good food and questionable decisions. I ordered the Dynamite and Spicy Salmon rolls. The Dynamite roll, priced at nearly $12, was not dynamite. If anything, it was a blast of disappointment. For a roll that costs double what the Spicy Salmon roll does, I expected more than just a sliver of fish on top and a few more grains of rice. Same portion size, double the price? That's not math I'm here for. Pass on that one. Speaking of the Spicy Salmon roll, now that one was solid. It delivered the goods for its price and met the sushi standard I was hoping for. Apparently my friend said that their eel roll's sauce was "a bit weird." Noted. If that's your thing, you do you, but I'll also pass on any eel sauce adventures.

We went to Asia cuisine at lunch time last Tuesday. When we got to the restaurant and went in they were kind and we immediately got a table and they were so fast. The miso soup was delicious and the chairs were comfortable and inviting. I was satisfied and I enjoyed the food the miso soup was so good would go there again and I would suggest it for you to come here if you like rolls and soup.

We went out for lunch on my birthday, and there was only one person serving everyone. She was so nice, and I feel bad, but my hubby got sick a few hours later. He said a friend told him that he knows others who also got sick. I didn't have the same dish, so I was fine.

Such good price genuinely amazing food and service. Also so cute on the inside and located in a nice part in Ithaca Commons.

I visited this place during my vacation to Watkins Glen and let me tell you, this is some of the BEST Korean food I have ever had. I had the Kimchi Chicken Bokum; it was PACKED with flavor and the portion was huge.... just the right amount of spice!!! My boyfriend had the Jjam Bong which is basically like a seafood soup. He loved it. It wasn't spicy, but there was a lot of flavor and the seafood was fresh. We only got one sushi roll, but they have so many to choose from. If you're big on sushi this is the place for you. The service was very quick and attentive. I think the only issue with this place is that it is pretty small inside, only about 6-7 tables. So if you come during a peek time expect a wait. We went around 7pm on a Sunday and did not have a wait, but by the time we left there were 2 groups in line.

This place lives up to its simple name but with a number of variety available. While not specializing in one cuisine, I found that to be a great quality because I'm personally someone who likes the variety. I'm impressed with how they balance it and manage a busy crowd. You know it's a good spot when there's people eagerly waiting outside in the cool fall weather waiting to get in here. The staff did a good job of getting people in within 15-30 min on a Friday night. Admittedly we even added a person to our party last minute and they were able to help us out and get us in. There's truly something for everyone. Between two super sushi lovers and a few non fish eaters, everyone got something they wanted. I was in a sushi mood and was happy I didn't need to break the bank for four rolls (yes this is how many I usually get). My husband got the jjangmyan special and was very satisfied with the green tea noodles consistency in particular. He even convinced the others at the table to order it. I was surprised at how big the special rolls were. The Aurora roll was huge and at a deal too. I really enjoyed the New York Roll which is simple having salmon and tuna but the nice add of apple brought it together. The Ithaca roll satisfied my craving to have one deep fried roll. Spicy tuna ultimately ended up delicious. I will mention we had a small misunderstanding regarding my allergy. Because the rolls I got didn't mention there was scallion on top, I was a little disappointed at first when some of the rolls came topped with scallion. I was able to pick it off (cross contamination isn't a problem for my allergy). But the staff took notice and immediately helped update the remaining rolls on the way to ensure no scallions. They even re made the spicy tuna roll to make sure there was no scallions (my husband happily ate the one with scallions that came out). Greatly appreciated their attention and action on the matter. We were only visiting Ithaca for the weekend for a wedding but was very glad and we enjoyed the place. Until next time!

It's one of those places where you need to know exactly what to get to have a good experience. If you want the perfect affordable meal for two people (they note two but honestly if your friend group is small backed like us, three might also do the trick), head on right over and try their casseroles. If you want to perfectly replicate our experience, try their Boo Dae Jeon Gol, better known as Korean army stew (for curious folks and my fellow food baddies, definitely check out this link about the history of this sexy dish: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budae-jjigae#:~:text=It%20also%20goes%20by%20the,stew%2C%20and%20spicy%20sausage%20stew.&text=The%20dish%20has%20its%20origins,Korea%20was%20experiencing%20significant%20poverty. ) It's not a healthy meal for sure nor is this the best budae jigae I've ever had (quite bland for what it is) but omg, it's definitely THE ONE where you can have the most bang for the buck. They have an massive hotpot pan just for their casseroles. My friend and I, both very hungry college students, literally could not down this thing. The menu also mentioned to "share with my people" but perhaps it was a warning all along. The soju here is pretty expensive per bottle, which is a bit of a letdown. However, I do like their green grape soju and the specific brand that they have; it doesn't have that alcohol taste upfront, which is arguably dangerous. Will I willingly come back? Probably notttt, heh heh. There are better places out there to spend your money and time. Nothing about the food or the atmosphere really wowed me. It's just okay for a casual meal, but it didn't leave a lasting impression.

Tangsuyuk was the star though. It was freshly fried and crispy. Make sure to ask for sauce on side. Ambiance is absolutely zero. LOL. They have tables and they were clean I give them that. We didn't have a reservation and everywhere was packed. Thankfully, we were able to snag a table here. We ordered the bulgogi burger, spicy tuna, and ubboki. The burger was... interesting. Definitely creative but poorly executed. There used to be a burger place in Atlanta that served Asian-fusion burgers and they were incredible but unfortunately closed during Covid. I was hoping this dish would be reminiscent of theirs but did not meet my expectations. The actual meat had a thick layer of fat that covered the whole bottom side of the meat. The bread was soggy and the American cheese did not pair well with the sweet bulgogi sauce. I think a swiss or more mild cheese would've paired better. The spicy tuna was not how it was advertised. The photo was rather dark but seemed to depict a dish closer to ahi tuna? The tuna was not raw but tasted like canned tuna and had a garlicky aftertaste. Not horrible, just not expected and a strange combination of flavors that did not work in harmony. They attempted to pair this tuna "dip" if you will with garlic bread. The slightly spicy fishy flavor did not meld well with the garlic bread at all. A truly confusing dish. The noodles were fine. Nothing phenomenal. I would probably just stick to ordering tteoboki instead of the ubboki though. Service was not very good, the waiters were rather rude and not very attentive. Banchan was not good either. Overall, I really wanted to love this restaurant, but will not be returning and would not recommend.
