This all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet was just as good as any other we've visited, and we honestly don't have anything negative to say. We saw some of the less-than-great reviews beforehand but decided to give it a try anyway, and we're glad we did. Sometimes reviews seem to lean heavily toward people who are upset or simply didn't get exactly what they wanted, so I'm happy to share a positive experience. The food we tried was fresh, hot, and tasty, with plenty of choices. We stuck with the prepared buffet items and didn't try the hibachi, but all of the meats, vegetables, and other selections available for it looked fresh and well stocked. The restaurant itself was also clean, tidy, and well kept. Our waitress was excellent, she kept our drinks filled and cleared empty plates quickly without ever making us feel rushed. We went on Father's Day' and the had a special menu that was 28.99 per person that included crab legs. They did not tell us about the special. My daughter in law happened to see a small sign on the wall behind us. There was 7 of us and we each had only one plate of food. No one ate crab legs. While questioning the waitress she kept pushing the receipt at my husband telling him "just sign it". She also added a tip for herself of $25. Didn't tell us that until after she ran our credit card. I asked to speak to someone in charge and he just laughed at me and said "oh well"! There was several tables of customers complaint about the same thing. The sad part the food wasn't even that good. This was basically my favourite restaurant when I was a kid, I moved away and didn't go for a long time, but I just went back and it's exactly the same as I remember. They have a good variety of (very Americanized) east Asian food and some country-style American food. As a pescatarian, there's enough variety that I can almost but not quite try a little bit of everything that I want before getting full. For buffet food it's pretty good. The food mostly tastes relatively fresh, save for a few items (seaweed salad, mushroom salad, glazed banana) that tasted like they'd been sitting for a while, but nothing was bad. I tend to avoid the fruit bar, though - it seems like most of the fruit comes out of a can, and the pudding is pretty bland. Their basic sushi can be a little underwhelming, but the more complex rolls are good, and honestly all are better sushi than I'd expect from a buffet. From this visit, the dishes that I really enjoyed were the flounder with crab meat, shrimp cocktail, Japanese-style tofu, and egg custard. The staff is nice and they're very attentive with refilling drinks and taking away plates that you're done with. Some of them don't seem to speak English super well which might present a little bit of a language barrier, but nothing serious - someone I was with tried to order a drink that they didn't have and confused our waitress who didn't know what he was saying, but she called over another waitress who could understand and they sorted it out. I saw a few bowls with scrapes of food still in the corners at the buffet, and while the overall cleanliness of the place (besides the bowls) this time was okay, I've seen it looking a little dingy before. The interior design of the place is very cool - they've got a waterfall into a small koi pond, pagoda-like canopies over the salad station, a lighted floor in places, and the ceiling is painted to look like the sky. There are some elements of it that are very strange to me, though, like the glass (or plastic?) dividers that are filled with what looked like just crumpled paper, and the fish tank with absolutely nothing in it besides fish, not even pebbles in the bottom - it looked clean, but are you really supposed to keep fish in a bare tank like that? I also wish they'd do a better job of labelling the food at the buffet. Most items are labelled correctly, but there were a few with no labels or that were mixed up, or just confusing to figure out which label corresponded to which item. In comparison to other Chinese buffets, this place is one of the better ones as far as having a fresh selection and a pretty decent size selection. It also tastes a little better than some others I have visited. They also have a pretty good selection of sushi available here which other Chinese buffets don't. The only downside to this place is they use your height to determine if you should pay the child price versus adult. Generally this is okay I guess but my daughter for example was pretty tall when she was still considered child as far as a restaurant is concerned and we had to pay the full price a couple times. Not a biggie as it's only a few extra dollars but still if the kid is only 10 years old us saying so should be good enough The only issue we've had before happened the last time we were there. We were expecting to bring at least 15 people and so we called a few days in advance and asked if they could handle this as they are sometimes quite busy. My mother-in-law made the call and they said no problem, they took her name, confirmed how many people. When we arrived they had no idea we were bringing 15 people. Caught them completely off guard they had to go into a back room and push some tables together and then quickly find a server that could handle the job. It really didn't inconvenience us any more than about 5 minutes however it just struck me as odd that they basically lost a reservation of that size. You really have to like some fried food for this trip. It's a buffet, I get that but the decor!!! It had a Vegas casino feel and strangely enough, I dig it! Service was quick and we were seated immediately. Our drink order was taken and although the staff was silent I noticed the efficiency. Selections were being changed over from lunch to dinner during our visit and we barely noticed. Everything was clean as much as one can expect from a buffet. Guests were expected to wear masks and use a plastic glove to handle utensils. New sushi options were being put out and everything looked fresh. Unfortunately the selections for lunch service consisted of mostly fried choices. I'm not one to turn down anything fried but it was very noticeable. This is the sole reason for the one star loss. Me and my family came here to try out the food. Most of the food is cold unless it just came out and rarely taste like the actual dish itself. The rice tastes like plastic. The soda is bland and barely carbonated. The service is good however it doesn't make up for the cockroach my mom found. She told the worker that there was a cockroach on one of the dishes and she only took the piece the cockroach was on, not the entire tray. Ok, I don't want to come back here. I feel duped. The sushi was not fresh, and I think one of the rolls might have just been tempura broccoli. Signs were confusing and the 'hibachi' was just marinated chicken and veggies. This resulted in my younger daughter choosing a raw egg as part of her plate (again, unclear signage) The Chinese food was ok. There was a lot of Ice Cream and desserts. The fish in the tank looked like they were dying and the dessert bar had a chocolate fountain that was not on or plugged in. Lots of empty boxes inside of the restaurant as well. It was absolutely disgusting. He told the staff what happened, and the owner apologized and offered to take $5 off his meal. Are you effing kidding me?? While in college at BU, my friends and I visited this place on the regular. As far as Chinese buffets go, this has to be one of the best. The place itself is huge, and the amount of food they offer is enormous. Especially considering it's all you can eat for just one flat rate! I wasn't a vegetarian during my time in college, but when I visited a few months ago and I was a vegetarian, I couldn't believe how many veggie options there were. The one "section" of the buffet that is a little questionable in my opinion is the sushi. It wasn't GREAT, but it could've easily been an off day. It's not by any means impeccable, in fact, the table we were seated at most recently was kind of filthy. And considering how big the place is, I'm not sure why that ever needs to happen. However, I think if you go here with an open mind and no expectations, you'll be really pleasantly surprised. I have been going to this restaurant for many years even before they were on vestal parkway and in the Olum's plaza under a different name. We were there this weekend and the food was terrible. I used to love the crispy wonton with the cream cheese in it. It was soggy and taste like oil, the food had no flavor. The man who was making the sushi had gloves on working with chicken and fish with the same gloves and then washed his hands with the gloves on. When he was going to prepare our food, I asked him to change his gloves, and he asked me why. I told him he was just working with Fish and Chicken with the same gloves and my granddaughter has an allergic to fish. I spoke to the owner who said she would speak with him. I also spoke with her about my concerns of the quality of the food. she was apologetic. Pork spare ribs-not too fatty and not too much sauce, just right Coconut chicken-I'd never had this prior, always had coconut shrimp from other places, but this is great. If you aren't paying attention, you don't actually notice what kind of meat is under the breading and sauce, which may bother some people, but not me. The meat is honestly just a delivery device for the coconut deliciousness General Tso chicken-the sauce is a bit too sweet, but still a repeater Pepper steak-good, but like most steak dishes, more veg than is preferable Curry chicken-a really nice surprise to find at a Chinese restaurant, very well done Roast Pork egg rolls-huge and delicious Cream cheese wontons-very standard, but good Fried wings-these bad boys are BIG and nummy Lo mein-very nice, not too greasy Fried rice-a bit bland and dry, but if you mix it with the entree sauces like I do, it's quite serviceable This is our go-to for Chinese.
