Tried the Temp location this time. Very friendly crowd and staff. Select your own seat was fun. We sat directly across from the bar and enjoyed people watching. The ambiance was chill but why not a little light? Hard to read the lengthy menu in this setting. The Rueben pasty was not available so I settled for chicken pot pie. Not sure why it came cut in half, but it was not the piping hot this way. Found the sage spice to be not my thing. My guest loved the vegan pasty. The Guinness was ok. Would have preferred it a bit cooler. My guest loved the unsweetened tea. Parking not an easy task here in a Saturday, be prepared. Prices reasonable. read more

My first time here - I was surprised by the ambience, very vampiric XD. I had the rosemary steak pasty. Super filling and the mustard cream sauce was delish. I was sad during my lunch on Sept 26, 2022. This interior offers a cool, retro, dark pub-like atmosphere. The music was very loud and made it difficult to conduct a conversation. Our server had the "I don't want to be here" attitude. I ordered the lamb Vindaloo. The filling was alright tasting but very dry. The pasty was okay but would have been better served warm. I love lamb but my lamb Vindaloo made me "bleat" with disappointment. The food couldn't even save this meal! For $15 and no sides or even if it came with lettuce and a tomato for garnish may have helped, I left unsatisfied and still hungry. After reading the reviews on Yelp, I thought maybe I missed Cornish Pasty's hey day but after this visit it will probably be my only one. read more

My customer bought me lunch here. I had a Carne adobada fusion pasty. It was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately it was lunch and i couldn't get the litre of beer to go with it. Went with a group of 10 for my wife's birthday. I was impressed with their level of service as I had told them we had a concert to make it to and they were very organized, and then got our drink and food orders in and served quickly. They were also accommodating as they really did not do anything for birthdays, but were OK with me bringing in a small birthday desert for our friends, even providing plates and silverware...... British food restaurant/pub that specializes in their pasties. I tried the tandoori wings, oven chips (fries), Tikka masala pasty, and the lamb & mint pasty. The service was decent but not great. My biggest problem is the same for all the dishes. Maybe I'm too used to other ethnic and American foods, but everything was just tasteless. The lamb & mint pasty and the fries were the worst offenders. It wasn't bad per se, but it just tasted like nothing. I imagined it to eating a black and white film instead of a film in full color. The tandoori wings were definitely better but not by much, and the Tikka masala was the best out of all of them. Overall, maybe it just isn't for me but I just don't see how anyone enjoys this food. When we first arrived, we were very skeptical about the place. Super dark with uncomfortable seats! If you want to get a good feeling of the environment, look at the inside pictures before visiting the place. But I can assure you the food would help you forget about the uncomfortable seats!! I asked our server about their popular pasties, and she suggested chicken tikka masala and cajun chicken. The chicken tikka masala was top-notch! I have been to the Tempe location (not on Mill) twice, and each time was a fun experience. The inside was a bit dimmed with the vibe of a bar or a speakeasy. I have tried a few different pasties and my favorite one was the chicken tikka masala and cuban style one (forgot the full name). The service was always very on point. I recently tried their mezcal margarita, and it was really good. I was worried it would be on the sweet end of the spectrum so I asked our server for that day. She was very nice and knowledgeable about the drink options, and she suggested holding a bit off the sweetener to make it less sweet. The portion of the pasty is pretty big for me, so I always split my order into two meals. I would go back and try more different flavors and possibly the Scottish egg. read more

Still one of my favorite places to go while I am in Phoenix. Cornish Pasty is a super laid back spot with no frills, except for the food! The food is simply amazing and special. It is difficult to get their unique taste and specialty anywhere except here. Be prepared to wait a little bit for your food, so definitely order a drink or appetizer. We got one of their local rotating ciders and their tomato based soup. The soup came with this amazing homemade bread and butter. It was super warm and dipped and paired so well with the hearty and warm soup. I was so obsessed with their pasty that I did not know they even had soups and appetizers! Wow! Definitely can just have a meal with the soup by itself! I decided to get their guineas stew that is stuffed full of beef, vegetables, cheese, and yumminess! On the side is their homemade sour cream and chive dip. Oh wow! So good! Each bite wow, yum! So warm and tantalizing to each one of my senses! This place is small but has outside seating and the staff is attentive. The pasties are very delicious. New Mexico chile is featured in their delicious offerings! Red or green you can't go wrong. The pasty is quite large and we did not realize that until we ordered. We could have shared and had plenty to eat. We did take half for later. We sat at the clean bar and people watched outside. I found a list of "best soups" in the Valley and Cornish Pasty was on it. They have a few soups but the Cream of Tomato Soup was what drew me in. Tomato soup is pretty easy and straightforward. But what about cream of tomato soup? Any "cream of" soup, tomato included, is pureed like a normal soup but then goes through a "creaming" process, wherein cream is added to the mixture. Cornish Pasty's version was extra creamy and satisfying. Love the homemade, made from scratch goodness in this bowl! What they don't tell you is that you also get a huge side portion of delicious bread for dipping. It's truly a meal unto itself. We don't have a lot of "soup weather" days living here, so when we do, come try the soup! I also ordered the Parliament Wings (one of my staples), but they were out-of-stock. The Baked Chips (fries) with garlic are a must! This was my first time visiting this location of Cornish Pasty. With 9 locations in the Valley now, this is a real testament to their success. I usually go to the one in Old Town Scottsdale. The staff was friendly here, but I found the interior of the location too dark. I understand the vibe they may have been going for, but it was almost borderline dangerous. I would suggest that for daytime service they add some lighting. I called in an order for pickup this evening and the person working was extremely polite. It was easy to place the order and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I drive over and they had the food ready precisely when they said it would be! The food was okay. We got two different main dishes to split. I enjoyed the bangers and mash, it was tasty and the sausage was tender. The chicken pot pie wasn't my cup of tea. There was a frozen pot pie type flavor to it, I think it was the green beans in it. I suspect they use frozen ones but I could be wrong. Either way, I wouldn't order that specific item again. The mashed potatoes were good with a nice garlic flavor. We also ordered the "chips" (french fries that are baked) and they weren't crisp - I didn't personally like them. The recasted red potatoes also weren't anything spectacular. I wouldn't get them the next go around. Next time I would like to try the "porky". The menu was currently limited which is expected with all that's going on currently. Overall, I would try them again ... I would just steer clear of the items I didn't favor. The service was great and I imagine that is typical so they will get my business again. read more

I'm glad this British style pub was open late (of course it would if it's marketed as a pub). After reading the reviews, I figured the chicken pot pie was the way to go. Honestly, I've never really had "real" chicken pot pie and have only had the frozen microwaveable versions sold at big box grocery stores. Boy was I glad to give this one a try. The chicken pot pie was absolutely amazing! The was bursting with flavors from the mixture of the chicken and veggies. The gravy added an extra dimension of flavor and texture that tied it all together. Definitely indicative of British food if I had to imagine what British food would be.
